My wife currently has a galaxy and is on Android 2.1update1. If I go into settings, about phone there is no system update option and if she dials *#*#2432546#*#* it doesn't do anything. Does this means there is no updates ever? Can she do a manual update?

Hey! Does your wife have a GT-I5500M on the Virgin Mobile network?? Please contact me before flashing! MOD EDIT. REMOVED EMAIL
Have u tried the normal Samsung Kies program to check for updates when you plug it into your USB?
If there are 'official' updates you can download them that way.
Otherwise you can flash to Froyo (2.2) using Odin (unofficial way)
Good Luck.

You can't use Odin for nexus one, cuz it's just for Samsung phones.

Attached file includes a guide to flash bootloader using Odin.
I have a radio problem with my Nexus S I9020T and I hope someone can help.
I installed Cyanmodgen 7 and after a couple of days I suddenly lost all cellular reception on the phone (data and voice). The phone identifies my SIM card handler, but it just can't find any available networks.
I went ahead and reinstalled I9020XXJK1- GRH78 firmware using Odin, but I still can't get any network connection.
After installing the new firmware, my phone now shows "CARRIER INFO - EUR" when I go into bootloader mode. The thing is, my Nexus S i9020T is a T-mobile version bought at best buy in New York.
Can anybody tell me if there are any negative effects if the carrier info shows EUR on a US phone?
Thanks!
Why are you gents even flashing with Odin, when you're much safer doing it with the Android SDK and fastboot?
Hi,
I recently got a Nexus S, 2.3.4
How do I know the model number ?
I have read about updating to ICS 4.0.4 by downloading some files and using boot loader. Can the update to ICS 4.0.4 be done using Kies ?
Thanks
What's a "kies" ?

Kies is samsung's online update server. They used it to update their phones.
Since the nexus s is a Google phone, updates will come from Google. So no need to connect to a Samsung server. Your update should arrive ota. But if your impatient or just want an enhanced user experience, I'd advise looking around on the forum for directions on how to root and install custom roms on your phone.
You without me is like Harold Melvin without the Blue Notes....
I don't know about updating it with kies but under the general section in the stickies there is a thread on all updates and full from packages for all variants.. you will be able to find the right update in there and just download it to your phones root folder.. then go into fast boot recovery by I think the volume up button and power button when turned off, then go into recovery and when the android man has a exclamation mark press volume up and power button again and select the update zip file and it should finish itself off... provided you chose the right model for your phone....
Its the easiest way I know how to do it

I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S2 X from koodo and I was wondering if I can just straight up update my phone the way it is now through Samsung Kies when the JellyBean update arrives for my device in April? I have no custom roms NOR have I flashed anything on this device as far as I am concerned. The only thing I've done after rooting my phone is download root required apps on Google Play and APK files off the internet. I know for a fact that my root would disappear and I'm not concerned with that, since I don't want my phone to be rooted anymore anyways. So i figured I can hit two birds with one stone if I was able to update my phone and get rid of my root in the process. What's stopping me is that I have read that updating through kies while rooted can brick your phone. Or does that only happen if you have custom roms installed?
Don't you already have a thread about this?

Seems like nobody can figure out how to downgrade after the 4.3 update so the question is has anybody completely wiped a smartphone and loaded an os from scratch if so would this be a way to bypass the downgrade also I recently messed up my phone trying to downgrade and was able to go into Kies give model and serial number in emergency recovery even though Kies wouldn't connect and it downloaded and flashed my phone back like nothing happened although it updated to 4.4.2 would there be away to hack Kies and tell it what os to use instead of it downloading and installing? If so we could revert to stock 4.2
