How can i oc my NexusS to 1.2ghz?? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App cm7 rc2 / mcmuffin..

You can do it by reading and doing research before posting new threads.

Please do not link to warez. The only official and allowed free version of set cpu is found here. Thank you.

Sorry about that zephiK, i didn't mean to spread warez at XDA.
Do you want me to remove the link?

it's not a police state
but we do enforce protection to the developers, after all this forum is for developers
regular users are forgetting that, and we have to keep reminding people
warez discourages developments, as simple as that.

Yeah thats cool mate,
I think you guys do a great job, but i do think you should allow some banter here and there, i see lots and lots of posts hacked to death by Mod's and you just think to yourself, what has happened..
Back in the day in the N1 forums it used to be mayhem, but it was controlled mayhem and gave XDA character
JD

I'm sorry about that. But it was not warez. It was downloaded from the original thread.

you need to flash an overclocked custom kernel. there are a few in the development section

flash this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973125 (if you want to go 1.4)
or this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936219 (i suggest 1.2.5 cfs or bfs since they're stable so to speak (personally,i'm using 1.2.7 cfs) and allows you to choose if you want to go 1.1,1.2,1.3 or 1.4 although for some people (like me), 1.4 is unattainable with this kernel but possible in the earlier one)
in recovery via clockwork.
What's clockwork? Read it here <-- probably not required since you're already running cm rc2 and should already know what it does
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875875
There's no need to wipe, just flash it and upon rebooting, you should be able to use setcpu to go to 1.2 (or any other values up to 1.4 if you use netarchy's) as you so desire.

best infuse rom

make your case here
Been happy to run stock for a while, but going to load something new tomorrow
currently using infused 1.5, I like the stock look but wanted the extra tweaks and features like bloatware gone, better battery life and its noticably faster.
Infused gives you 2 options at startup for launcher, either a much more revamped version of touchwiz 3 or the gingerbread style launcher with 3d drawer. I prefer the revamped tw. most of the core components your used to with stock will be there but you get the open market, not att crappy version, widget picker so your list isn't a mile long, hotspot enabled and some other stuff, just read the changelogs. So if you love the stock look but want the added stuff infused is for you.
I never understand questions like these lol. There isn't a best, it's a matter of personal preference.

You. Should Read the entire thread of both roms you're interested in and ask questions there. There's no need to clog up the forum with pointless threads.
It's pointer because there are already threads about the roms. Post there.

I'm using Infused 1.5 (with the 4.5 TouchWiz launcher found here) + bedwa's Infusion Kernel.
Gtg's rom is already very smooth and quick, added in the OC from the Infusion kernel and this phone flies. Also, the battery life is pretty great thanks to the rom in itself and the UV'ing from the kernel.
Really enjoying this setup as of now, the only thing that would really make me change is if a developer produced a CyanogenMod rom or an MIUI rom.
Having tried all three, there isn't a huge difference and it comes down to personal preference. Once you're on ext4 you can literally flash a new rom and kernel in the same amount of time it took you to come up with that monster slam "what are you from Missouri" lol
Edit: and trust me, once you flash one, you'll end up trying them all. You should start with infused since his thread has very noob-friendly instructions for people like you

I've flashed more roms than I care to in my time, but I'm traveling on work and I have limited time I'm on wifi to download roms to install. Don't want to wait 2 more weeks until I get back home, so I figured I'd ask people who have roms installed.
that was a nice attempt at an insult in the edit, but you betray your ignorance in the first paragraph when you defended Missouri.
In the words of Grandpa Simpson "I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missourah."
Thanks for posting this thread and in the right spot!
I have infused and enjoy it, I am curious about the others but all the rom threads are wanked now.
There are a couple of things I have to do on a daily basis that make switching roms every other day impractical.
My phone requirements run more to usability than looks, fortunately the infused rom provides a nice stable base for both.

what the hell's this forum for if you can't even make a thread about favorite roms and pro's/con's without being flamed by 12 year olds
Shouldn't have called the thread "best infuse rom" maybe "which rom works best for you and why"
Frankly, there is no best rom. Its all preference.

There's a reason we mods don't like "best rom" threads. Unnecesary flaming, name calling, etc.
Like the others said: there is no "best" rom, only the one that best suits you. And you have to find it yourself, no one can do it for you.

T.A.R.D.I.S. 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich!)how do i install this?

I just downloaded this zip file and want to put it on my phone. im already rooted with CWM . i just dont want to mess anything up...can someone please give me a quick detailed description how to get this to the phone and install it flawlessy... what are the benefits of this rom anyway compared to the stock.? thank you all in advance for any helkp...
- In a nutshell..
- And I foresee a mod closing, moving or request different thread name.
- It's a SDK port, not from source. It's pretty stable, runs solely off the CPU and not the GPU. You might have to flash or install super user.
- Install thru recovery.. Wipe data etc and flash zip.. That's it. If you need visual there a thread with how to (s).

If you have the android exclamation in recovery, you need to flash the recovery image again - same as the first time. It usually takes two flashes before it sticks.
Backup current rom.
Factory reset/wipe all user data.
Wipe cache.
Advanced/wipe dalvik cache.
Install new rom zip from sd card. Reboot.
Since the xda app search engine sucks so bad, Google "how to flash nexus rom" and you'll find a thousand extremely detailed hits.
Try to stick with the xda hits, but the quality of members and posts has degraded rapidly since I registered here. Coincidence? I hope so!!

If you're on TW ICS, go with imoseyon's lean kernel. That's the only one that's worked consistently for me. The others either don't actually seem to bring any noticeable improvements over stock, or they are far too unstable and/or buggy. Making TW based kernels is tricky, the source is incomplete, minor tweaks that improve AOSP roms don't always have the same results, and major tweaks tend to break stuff. So far, I've found imoseyon's kernel to be the best balance for TW roms, rock solid reliable, and you can undervolt it heavily while still clocking to 1.9ghz. Limited governor selection, but either interactivex or ondemand with a screen-off profile is about as good as you're gonna get anyway.

LOL yes def be careful where you post because the dreaded mods (wink wink) will make you feel as though you don't deserve to be here and that your dumb and it is unnecessary but that's how it goes on xda... ( follow our rules or get the hell out) I have been here way before a lot of the mods but since I don't post nonsense my post count is not that high... LOL!! but I totally agree about Cleankernel 1.2... I am using it with his rom and it is INCREDIBLE to say the least, but your phone better be able to handle it as some people will get reboots going that high.... Just try in small increments and you will be fine... Good luck!
EDIT: I was sent an infraction for my post above about me attacking others or being racial.... smh I may get booted cause I actually have a sense of humor... How did I attack a moderator??? Anyone?? It was NOT directed at ANY specific moderators and I was just chiming in while trying to be humorous, but again, you can't do that here but they can make you look like a COMPLETE fool if you make a mistake or you are a noob or maybe you just can't understand something... I see threads full of hate and terrible comments...? I will just laugh it off cause that's all I can do... You've been here since 2011, you should know the difference between Q&A and Development.
this isn't development, shouldn't go here
as far as your question goes, i feel aerovans 4.2.1 is plenty fast enough....others you can tweak and screw with all you want if you have a kernel that supports OC'ing your device......only way to tell what is the fastest in your opinion is to flash each one and test it out...simple as that

Uh oh.. a wrong section violation. OP, hope you have a good lawyer..that's a crime punishable by death around here.
To answer the question though, people's mileage varies with ROMs. Its all in what you load with them(apps, etc.). The fastest are the AOSP ones, if you don't mind losing the bells and whistles, and putting up with the inherent bugs. Other than that, the more stripped the Touchwiz rom is, the faster it generally should be. Look around, see what one has the minimum of what you want, and give it a shot. Unlock your bootloader. Try an overclock kernel. See how it goes
lol, unless its a thread about a ROM you created, it shouldn't go in development or original development threads
if its a specific question relating to a certain ROM, ask it in that ROMs forum but beware to be flamed for not using the search function
if its a question about a theme or app and theres not a thread started in the themes & apps forum, then a question could possibly be asked in there if its relating to that only
all other questions and inquiries should be posted in the Q&A forum.......at least thats the logic i use when posting on the forums lol

This rom has been CRAZY fast on my s3. I tried Paranoid Android and Synergy too. The battery life is also insane, I got 26 hours yesterday (few hours on airplane for overnight).
While everyone is fluffing up their post counts by restating the SAME obvious information over and over for community brownie points, just thought I'd duck in and mention that the sky is generally blue, unless there are clouds in which case it may appear a color between white and dark grey.
In all seriousness though a mod will see that the thread is in the wrong section and move it accordingly. That is their job.Why 267754 people have to let that person know it's in the wrong section is beyond me.

Look the problem is if questions are posted in development then it will start to be hard keeping up with development because it will be cluttered by questions. That is why there are seperate sections.
As for them not being answered... Have you looked lately? There are many senior members who spend there time just cruising there to answer questions. Droid style, con, sdy(can't remember the rest now) to name a few. I personally spend most my time in q and a helping out with the little knowledge I have.

I've always had really good luck with AOSP ROMS in the past on other devices as far as speed goes. Since getting my gs3 I've only tried a couple of TWIZ Roms so far and I'm really pleased with MLJBM with Lean Kernel. Its super fast and buttery smooth and battery is decent as well. With that said I've noticed in the past with previous devices that some Roms respond better on one device and not so much on another. Youre probably best off taking the advice that was mentioned earlier and try a few different ones out for yourself til you find what youre looking for

Best Rom/Kernel

As its now open season on XDA for best ROM threads (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55678988&postcount=5) I thought I would post this
What's the best rom and or kernel for the s4?
Quality of post doesn't matter, and it doesn't matter how much work has been put into that ROM/kernel
It also doesn't seem to matter if you offend any devs with your response or we have these kind of threads (seemingly as per XDA mods)

As its now open season on XDA for best ROM threads (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55678988&postcount=5) I thought I would post this
What's the best rom and or kernel for the s4?
Quality of post doesn't matter, and it doesn't matter how much work has been put into that ROM
It also doesn't matter if you offend any devs with your response (as per XDA mods)

in my opinion best rom is imperium rom if you want samsung tw
Well I didn't see that coming. Surely the "best rom" is particular to the user and there isn't an overall better rom. Perhaps the mods have given up and just want to contain the pointless personal opinions to 1 manageable thread.

So you are a fan of stock roms with a couple of basic mods, that's fair enough....you could probably do the mods contained in that ROM yourself

thanks
Come on guys
When best ROM threads were banned, there was at least one thread popping up every day...now its a legit chat no one has an opinion?
What changed? Do you guys only like creating threads that aren't allowed? You certainly weren't bothered about XDA rules before...
For i9500 Omega is the best for me..
I would really like to see an updated version of Perseus kernel but I think that project is dead..
because of this reason, omega kernel is also best.

Para mi de las bonitas tw que he probado
Imperium is the best.
The best means when an update is released you don't see any reason to update.

For goodness sake, DSA wants to know why "best rom" posts are now allowed even though there is no such thing and it can offend developers. Reading threads, especially the OP, before posting would go along way to improving XDA.
For me Phoenix rom is the best all the time. About kernel, I think alucard's
Pros: ahead of it's time (S5 mode and other features), rock stable and battery very friendly.
In the same time I'll be really hypocrite if I say this is the only one. Many others brought me love for my phone again as echoe, imperium, myba and your black box( which I wish to see continued some day
And there are some firmwares with great potential, which is also imprtant
Conclusion: lucky us
the imperium rom, because you have the s5 design and a stabel rom.
and the googy kernel. it has a good battery life. :good:
Lol, thanks
I'm staying subscribed to this thread until someone actually gets the point of the of the OP. Fingers crossed.
Pheonix with kt kernel smooth criminal v5 gives almost 5hrs+ SOT so Pheonix has been my fav rom since the day version 9.3 was released no bugs and everything works plus its very light thats the best thing and it was probably the first rom to make one handed operation work as on note 3 and s5[emoji14]

Duuuuude! How the hell are you!?! :highfive:
Best ROM threads were (quite rightly) banned on XDA...now they are allowed for some reason
This is an ironic thread of sorts...

[a lill' bit of OT, excuse me]
/me have seen better times Naaah, rolling in silence here and there, since I worn myself out... and if explicitly not being poked, I maintain my calm and post where I see due. In fact I'm enjoying while always learning from XDA knowledge and masterpieces around S4.
Aside that, I'm toying with my phone, tweaking it to my preferences, but it seems I have to perk with it almost every time Google (continuously) screws it up with their Google Play services and additions I never needed :silly::silly:
[/a lill' bit of OT, excuse me]
Re this thread - I got teh point, still needed to stop by and say hello to an old friend :highfive::good:
Cheers.
