Ok this is by far the best rom out for captivate if you new to flashing just start and end on this flash everything as it will be addictive and save this one for last as you will be hanging out for a while on it, I have flashed everyone I think, by far its the best I was on the Phoenix trip for a minute and was grooving it was cool and the latest release was cool with the added gps goodies, then even supernova, but I always came back to digi11igaf.......I know there has to be a way to save more battery on it but its worth charging it twice a day.....
Should have posted this in the sticky in Q&A subforum.

Same here. Problem is the only modem that gives me decent service is KB1. I am currently theming Cognition to mirror the look (with a few tweaks) of di11is 7.

Please point out the sarcasm in your post. Typically, using smilies is how you denote sarcasm or other emotions because words alone do a terrible job of it.

Yes that is what members should do if a thread or post is improperly made. I at least tell people when and why i report things...you don't have to agree but there are forum rules for a reason. Best Tom threads get locked because of what I said; they are up to each user to decide which works best for them. I used this rom and for me it didn't work as well as others. That doesn't make it the best rom IMO only because my phone didn't like it.
There are so many factors with roms and the captivate that its impossible to say one is best. I am glad it is the best in both of your opinions...but it doesn't change my origional post of why I reported the thread.
This is my Captivate. There are many like it but this one is mine.
Thread closed, there is no best rom as already stated.

which one do you recommand?
I can't speak for all of them as I haven't tried them all. But I can submit that there have been some ongoing crash issues with Gingerclone. I'm running Clean Fusion currently. Only things I've had an issue with is one background (that is just as likely an issue with the background), and no forming groups within your contact list, but otherwise is running great.
Touch is the next one I would try going by what little I've heard. Sorry I can't be of much help.
Really, you're best bet might be just to try them for yourself and see which one you like best, as they all look and run a little differently, though obviously much better than the stock ROM. Just make sure you get a full rooted backup before you use something, so you know you're not going to lose anything.
~ The guide Yogi and I put together has links to the main ROMs.. possibly not Lighting though.
I used. Lighting , ginger n touchmiui, I like touchmiui the best then lighting , btw ginger n touchmiui are the same rom just different colors blue vs green n theme differently

You need to search before posting because this question has been asked a dozen times already.
You are cluttering up our forums with this garbage, if you wanna know what roms are good then try reading the threads on them or better yet flash them and see what you like, we only have a few
This is not facebook and we don't need you to start a new thread unless you have a legitimate reason like a question that HAS NOT beeen asked before, these threads are not wal posts and they bury the good information we have and make the forum difficult to navigate

Don't listen to him. Everyone (almost) here are jerks. In my experience with the roms on here, I recommend you stay on stock with root. If you insist on a custom rom then I recommend probably GingerClone. Stock is the best thing for this phone for now. Anything else has to many issues after some time using them. No offense to the developers. They do what they can.

This isn't going to end well, so lets nip it in the bud now. As is probably on all the forums there is no most/best/awesomemest etc. Its all subjective on what a person likes or dislikes does or doesn't do. I can say black ice, but the next person says AR, then the next says something else until you essentially have all the roms listed from the Dev section.

You don't even have to read a lot of posts, you read maybe one or two pages at the most and you'll find out, for instance absolution(the only Rom I use on my inspire) is extremely stable for me and is perfect for my needs but it may not be the same for you it may not work for you, you may prefer sense, so really its all personal preference. Threads like these get closed all the time because they're unnecessary since most of the roms in this forumare plenty stable except the ones that say they are betas and have things that don't work. There is that a good enough answer for you? Because that's exactly what that picture says. A picture is worth a thousand words.

While you in fact continue to add to the clutter....
Complaining within a thread is not going to somehow make things better. Leave the policing to the mods. If I step out of line, fine. I'm reasonable and will listen.
But if you'd like me to abide by the very rules you're scolding me on, look above in this thread and see that everything you said has already been said. That should tell you that your post was not necessary, just adding to the clutter.

I will have to say Erik's SCOM Floyd Edition (ICS themed). It was my first ROM, and I liked it very much.
Like pisher i love barebones....especially with the screenshot function, and much less bloat.
Also if you want theme....learn uot kitchen and you can work wonders .
It depends because "BEST" is subjective. What is best? Loaded with apps? Nice looking themes and smooth interface? Stripped down with no fancy candy but better battery life?
It's like asking what's your favorite car. You're going to get 1000000 different responses and justification for each of them, that makes sense to the one saying it.

Then SCOM

This is like the 5th time this kind of thread is made. These are the answers to get: Barebones or Valhalla Black (Raver's or FB's). Then you will get a "try them all, then decide". Eventually the thread will get smarta$$ replies like "no ROM is better than the other".
So let's search before posting and quit the crap. Try the ROMs you find. It shouldn't take you more than a few hours.

These are the same kind of questions as the "Whats your favorite case?" or... "Whos your favorite carrier?"... those don't get closed so I don't see why these have to be closed? Some people don't have time to flash multiple ROM's, and to be honest you can't really decide if it's right for you in one day... These kind of threads help narrow down the right ROM for you, chances are if other people like it, you will too.... just look at how many people use CyanogenMod.
But anyways back on topic, I would suggest using Cyanogenmod. Overall it is the fastest ROM I have found. Most people like fast, so if that's your thing go with Cyanogenmod. They are currently working on 4.3 Android, they have a version out already but SMS/MSM isn't working so I suggest to wait it out until they fix the bugs.
Viper ROM is great for customizations, however it won't be as fast as Cyanogenmod, at least in my experience it won't..
That's all I've got, I've narrowed it down to 2 ROM's for you. However if you feel daring and want to try out some more ROM's I suggest you look at the post counts of the ROM's thread and usually if they have more people posting in it it usually means it's a better ROM and has an active developer fixing all the bugs and what not.
Thanks and enjoy!
Okay, let's do some thinking here.
Hypothetically, if ALMOST everyone were to suggest the same ROM, what benefit would that bring for the other devs working on the ROM they're providing? What would happen if we all said leave your phone stock? Would you? It works, it's reliable, there are no bugs, and no problems for you to complain about.
So let's all try to play along with that idea for just a bit.
Leave your phone stock. Unrooted. Why? No problems or bugs for anyone because it's stable. :good:

It's considered to be very disrespectful to devs to say one ROM is better than another. And really, no ROM is better than another ROM. ROMs suit different people for different reasons, therefore nobody can definitively say ROM a is better than ROM b. Just flash a few and find out for yourself, it's REALLY simple.

Those don't get closed because its completely different. Products like cases/phones and carrier services are paid for. So I can easily see why these are allowed. Voice your opinion on what you paid for, and furthermore, att doesn't care what we say here. They get their money, they aren't discouraged if I say I hate their service.
Roms are different. A developer doesn't sit down and say "let me earn a pay check by building a new ROM". In fact, they do it in spare time, after their real job/friends and family. To say someone's volunteer work is bad and that you don't like it, and that a certain ROM is better is preposterous. Saying things like "well A is good for X, but I like to do Y, so I chose B" is a perfectly logical statement. Everything regarding a ROM is opinion based. They are all rock solid and do different things. What you choose depends on what you need the ROM to do for you.
To say a ROM is the best (is what these threads turn into) is plain stupid. Everyone has their own opinion, and should share it within reason.
So these Devs that do this in their free time certainly don't want to hear why a ROM is better than theirs, especially since nobody has an obligation to do this for us.
That's why these threads get closed.

To be fair it's in the rules which I'm sure you read before posting right? And since your question doesn't take the dev's feelings into account when they do all this work for free, it could be said that your question makes you a ****ing ****
I have a personal preference for AOSP myself.

Actually.. I asked what wad your favorite Rom. I didn't ask what's your least favorite Rom. Therefore if a dev sees that his Rom is listed as somones favorite he would be happy not sad.
