[Q] IMEI / T-Zone - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

changing the imei number on a Nexus S so that I can use it with t-zone... I know how to change it (I think: EFS files changes, SGS Toolbox, ORT Unlocker) but would it work? And yes I know its a illegal... just wanted to hear the technical side of it

[Q] CRT-OFF Animation

Hello everyone, I re-edited this post. I would like to know if there is a way to edit the framework.apk and go to the bools (I think) and refit some of the XML codes so we could have our old gingerbread lock animation, all help will be appreciated. Thank you.
wow, thats an offensive first post )to the eyes that is)
and short answer, not really, after a full reboot, the change is lost...
best way to find out? try it! im not a fan of it, so im not even going to bother, but if you root, keep it and copy the files to system, it should work in theory...
but im pretty sure that you have to reboot for the settings to stick :/
k thanks, sorry for the letters im new with this.

And to the OP I don't know but like the above poster said try to copy the files you need to /SYSTEM and then use the FastReboot app, to trick your phone into believing that you have rebooted it and hoefully the changes will stick.
Let us know if it works!

So what exactly does this mean:
"successively rooted our HTC Sensation"
Are you temp-rooting over and over again?
I could be wrong but isn't the CRT animation built into the kernel itself???

It should be in services.odex, I decompiled it using backsmali but I dont know what to edit. Any help?
I found that it should be in PowerManagerService.smali

Which rom can sync facebook picture

Beside cyanogen, is there a rom that can sync facebook contact list with their picture?
I know for a fact GPA 17/18 do.

And I guess every Miui based rom will have the same issue?
NSCollab, it's a combination of Cyanogen Mod and Stock

You can do this for any ROM by modifying res/values/unrestricted_packages.xml within ContactsProvider.apk and adding:
<item>com.facebook.katana</item>
as one of the strings.

Sorry if that wasn't constructive in finding a solution for you
I guess I was pointing out that it wasn't something exclusive to CM. If you need help making this work for you, let me know which ROM version you need this for and the method(s) for transferring files on your phone that you're familiar with (ADB/CWM/etc). I'll try to get something up if somebody else doesn't beat me to it in the meantime.

There is no "values" folder in the res folder. Or maybe I just don't know how to make this work.

yeah, just pm them a link to this thread or explain what you need to do.
if you want to know your imei number then you can remove your battery . imei number is printed on top of the barcode.
i've posted a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22792525#post22792525
seems like your cases are related. lik i said, your imei might be stored in a different block (might be mmcblk0p7 instead of 4,5,6,etc), so don't start putting those files back on your phone, until you are 100% sure you've found where it's located.

you'll need to export a few different blocks (mmcblk0p1-7) to the sd card, then use the hex editor to find and replace the current one with your original one to see which blocks contain the imei.

[MOD] [GUIDE] Remove Lockscreen carrier info

Who hates the carrier name on the lock screen? Me too,
Delete the following file and it will go away....
/system/csc/customer.xml
If you feel like figuring out which line of code generates the carrier label feel free, i didnt...lol. So I just deleted the whole file.
Enjoy
Thanks Button.

I tried this but unfortunately it didn't remove the carrier from my lockscreen. I'm in Australia and on Vodafone AU. I searched all the customer.xml files and found 1 for Australia and removed that with no success. Any ideas? I really want that carrier text to go away!

Yeah no. What you're asking for can theoretically be done but it will require a lot of work reverse engineering the firmware, and by a lot I really mean it. Firmware is almost never open source so you won't find the source code anywhere.
What are you trying to do specifically?
