Anyone think the HTC pyramid will be dubbed as a mytouch phone?
sent from HTC glacier running CM7 and overclocked to 1.5ghz
who knows...im gonna get one reguardless haha
I hope it doesn't look as bad as the mytouch. I love this phone but the back is just horrible.
And hope it looks something like the hd7 or evo at least.

I hope it doesn't. Not that I have anything against the mytouch at all, but I just think it would be good to market it as a different line of product.
Edit: If it has a ffc, I'll def be getting it as well!

I hope it has the form factor of Thunderbolt or Desire HD. The MT4G is a great phone, but I've never been too keen on the aesthetics.

I'm thinking the "doubleshot" that was rumored the other day is going to be a new mytouch. maybe a mytouch slide since the first was espresso..think "I'll have a double shot of espresso" Some say the doubleshot is going to have dual screens.. others think it's because it's dual processor. I read also that the doubleshot is the pyramid just renamed... I kinda think though it will be the next mytouch slide.
Ill def be getting one for sure, I have 4.3" screen envy

Maybe the Pyramid will be a slate and the Doubleshot will be a slider? Makes sense that the Doubleshot will be a successor to the espresso.
It probably wont be called mytouch given all the advertisements tmobile has been doing for the MT4G

yeah but now I have noticed those ads are now pushing the Samsung 4g. Before it came out they had the commercials stating the mt4g was the fastest phone.. now they pretty much have those same commercials but for the Samsung 4g.. in the marketing scheme of things the peak of the mt4g marketing is over.. now we will see tmo pushing the samsung more and possibly the gslate
Far as this topic goes they won't call it new myTouch as normally myTouch is heavily TMobile branded device. If you know about project Emerald you would understand what I am talking about and where they are coming from. This is just for them to upgrade the base by mass for long term usage on hardware/software platform. When you have device that is heavily depends on the brand it sticks for sometime. Will TMo have new device? Sure they will will HTC be still top dominate? Sure they will be but they won't be TMobile branded directly.

I can't help but wonder if the GPS has been fixed. I know the Galaxy S 4G is still running RFS, but would be interested to know about the current state of the GPS.
i really hope they just let htc design the look. they always have to make their phones ugly. i feel like they designed it for kids.
Yes, I love the mytouch but hate the fact that it looks like ****. The front looks ok, but the back is just ****ing horrible. HTC does know how to make really nice phones, I love the way the nexus one looks. The speaker grill is ****ing ugly as **** as well. Ugh

I do believe that the double shot will be the new mytouch but in slider form. 1st was Mytouch, then Mytouch Slide, then MT4G, So it seems like every 6 months or so there will be a new mytouch, keyboard and non keyboard version.
Just my thoughts,
I actually like the design of the Mytouch
it doesn't look like any other phone on the market right now that i can think of
i am hoping that it might not be a slider form because that doesn't sound like something major to really announce.
Hopefully it is something better. And is it sure that the pyramid is an Android device? Is there any chance it could be a Windows device or is it confirmed to be Android?
@carmen:
At this point, only rumors exist about the Pyramid. One of those rumors is that it will be running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The phone is expected to be publicly announced at this year's CTIA, scheduled to take place in about a week.
While I like the design of MT4G (I like it, but don't LOVE it), it lacks the upscale/professional form factor of the Evo/Thunderbolt/Inspire 4G/Desire HD. If the Pyramid will have that form factor, I am a first day buyer.

Hi, I currently have a rooted mytouch 4g running android 2.3 that I bought used off of craigslist. I got an offer to trade my mytouch 4g plus cash for a nexus s brand new. Now I don't necessarily love Samsung but the deal seems like it could be beneficial to me. Some background:
I have a mytouch with a 'bad screen'
I have absolutely none of the original packaging or accessories.
The phone is a bit scuffed up and it is purple.
Now I was hoping you guys could give me your opinion, if you were in my shoes, would you trade or keep the phone?

I wouldn't....
too many bad things about the nexus s, and far too many fones that will be released in the next few months that will outdate "kill" the nexus S while the mt4g even with a bad screen STANDS STRONG, i also have a bad screen and this is far better processor, plus you can contact htc through tmoble to possibly exchange now for the scuffs u can spend 11bucks at ur local mall and get watever color gel case u want and.u now have ur fave color mt4g in ur hands
just my opinion do sum reading thru here there are lots of negatives to the nexus s, our (mt4g) gingerbread runs wayyy better

I honestly do not see why not... If I was in your shoes I would do it, if you don't you will probably be asking yourself what if? Plus you should factor in the following which is are you able to fully utilize hspa+ where you are.... Ultimately it also comes down to whether you have patience for Nexus S development to pick up and moreover if the mytouch better suits what you need... The Nexus S in my honest opinion is currently a better offering hardware wise and potentially (support google/dev scene) software wise with the largest omission being hspa+...
Apparently very debatable

I got the NS for 1 week and I went back to the MT4G. Maybe you like the NS, so try it and if not you can trade it again. I had a thread about my experience with the NS and compared it a bit to the MT4G.

I'm returning my Nexus S tomorrow. Picked up the my touch yesterday. So far I think this version of Sense is terrible. That, however can be fixed. Really there are a number off things I don't like about the my touch yet I will still return the Nexus. GPS, accelerometer, and compass all function much better on the my touch. Huge difference. If I'm going to spend 500 bucks on a phone I expect the features that make it more than just a phone to work well. Updates from Google are important but I would rather have well functioning hardware. If the my touch never receives another ota it's still a pretty good phone. The Nexus will probably never have a stable compass or gps. That's my take at least. There were some other hardware issues such as phantom button presses that put me over the edge with the Nexus, but that may have been cured with an exchange.

I went from the G1, which I loved, to the Vibrant, which I loved to hate. The developers did the best they could but the phone was still sitting with no official froyo six months after release, so I got fed up and sold it.
I got a Nexus S after the hype, went through two replacements before I got one that functioned properly. In the end, I still couldn't come to terms with the fact I was essentially buying another Samsung phone. I did some comparison shopping. Turned my S back for a refund and got a MT4G.
I did have to exchange the MT4G one time to get one with a good display, so I wasn't too happy at first, but now I'm much happier than I was with the Nexus S. It's got a more solid build, the camera is better, the buttons are responsive (big problem with the Nexus), the GPS locks quickly, I trust an HTC device 100x more than a Samsung device, and considering that we are getting Cyan 7 nightlies that are already fairly stable, I know I've made the right choice.

Thats what I would do... Make a post, selling a Nexus S you haven't traded for yet, and see how many hits you get... if you get some legit hits.. I would trade the MT4G for the NS and sell the NS, then buy a MT4G or wait for some of these next-gen phones to come out. I LOVE the MT4G....it is amazing...think the NS fails in comparision...and anyone that would pick a NS over the MT4G is prolly just doing so because they are google fanboys, or they don't want to admit to themselves they paid 500 dollars for a phone that is basically the iphone with bugs....I honestly don't think anyone looking at the matchup objectively would pick the NS over the MT4G. Good Luck with your decision making, hope it works out.
You really want to get some unbiased answers post this same question in the Nexus S forms... Btw, I agree with the poster above if your heart is set on a mytouch 4g turn around and sell the Nexus S you acquire and obtain a mytouch 4g with the better built screen and possibly a better exterior color, like black

LOL now now lets not be that harsh, NS can still beat down the iPanzy 4 with its eye closed. But NS does not compare against MT4G as we know TMo Project: Emerald was successful IMO they created a monster muahaha and even its brother DHD can't beat MT4G in speed yet they share similar spec. NS could have been good but its crippled by Samsung due to their inferior management and other marketing factors.
If I am not mistaken doesn't the hummingbird processor take advantage of gingerbread in ways any generation of the snapdragon processor cannot? Or was this a myth?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Originally I wanted the nexus s but my parents got me the mytouch.
To me 2.3 was a huge bonus for the nexus s but now the mytouch has 2.3 so its all good. The next advantage was the better screen for the nexus but now that super amoled two displays are coming out the nexus screen will be obsolete soon enough.although if I was you I would just wait for the phones announced at ces to come out.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Yeah, you're pretty much going to get biased opinons, but I think the myTouch has a better chance of anything at this point. We got the CM7 nightys coming along nicely, and we even have a cleaned up version of the stock rom which runs like fire (Iced Glacier) and overall it supports TMobile's 4G network.
MyTouch all the way. You really don't need the NFC for another couple of years cause they're just starting to put some use to it.
MyTouch all the way, and plus read some of the stuff about the Nexus, it's having lagging issues, random reboots and such. And plus it's a Samsung device, that doesn't mean it won't get the next version of Android quick, but the fact that it's just a samsung device and that it feels like ****. The Mytouch (at least mine) feels solid.
ATM its just a myth as Hummingbird S5PC110 does not stand a chance with Snapdragon MSM8255 was only factor with 1st gen Snapdragon. But however at the same time credit must be given to SGX 540 as its slightly better than Adreno 205. Then again this is where Samsung can only excel huh in graphic and SAMOLED display. Also don't let the whole NS using ext4 BS get to you as we are still not in dualcore world fully but ext4 does have its benefits. Overall MT4G beats NS with its face down in the gutter where Samsung belongs. This device is not any type of flagship but it does have potentials as lineup device, only thing I see holding it back is Samsung lol and then again they tend to do that.
I've had both but ultimately chose the MyTouch because having 4g speeds made a huge difference in the entire experience. On the NS I was always having to run wifi. Also the NS just never felt complete. Running CM7 makes the MT4g a complete phone.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
Dont, Nexus S isnt really a that good of phone plus u have gingerbread etc and Nexus S is samsung made. Cheap quality. MT4g kicks its ass in CPU and Some GPU stuff ( shader performance and more) so i say keep it
If you have 2.3 on your mt4g there is no point. That's the only thing the nexus s has over mt4g out of the box. Plus the mt4g has 4g and HTC is better than Samsung by a long shot...

When the Sidekick was released, apps were not an issue, it was never really an issue. In fact, I am sure that it decline because the iPhone was a smartphone that didn't feel like you were carrying around a brick. I had the Sidekick 3 which was released in 2006, it was heavy, but it was a pretty cool phone despite the fact it was not exactly portable.
Also, neither Samsung or HTC will make the next Sidekick (lack of involvement with the brand is one reason). Most likely it will be either Sharp or Motorola. Leaning towards Sharp because they didn't have issues with their Sidekick versions.
Fun fact, the guy behind Android founded Danger Inc.
I had the Sidekick 08 from launch all the way up until a couple months ago when I purchased the myTouch 4g. I enjoyed the phone while I had it, never had any problems with it(except for the whole data loss incident). I got the MT4G because the sidekick had been worn out over the past years, but it was a good phone
If htc ain't making than no sidekick for me lmao but we still don't know for sure any one could make this new sidekick we'll see!

See I like a lot of people text when we arent suppose to. Having to flip that screen everytime to send a text was painful. I really dont see how kids get away with texting in class.

Know?
Droid X performs tons of HTC devices. And that's a Motorola. Droid X is about equal to the MT4g in power.
I hope Samsung makes the Sidekick. Super AMOLED FTW! Plus it's gonna be Andy Rubin's baby. Which means... Stock Android ?! It could be like the Nexus S with a keyboard epic win
Makes sense to me that it would be running android though not only is it the best os in my opinion but the guy who brought you the sidekick UI is now in charge of Google's user experience department. I hope for one hope HTC busts out the sidekick I never owned one and always wanted one, and although Sombionix and Team Whiskey bust out some great roms for my phone I don't think I'll go the Samsung route again.

1. SamSux has screwed me once already with the Behold2.
2. They have shrunk the internal storage from 16GB to 1GB (Vibrant to Vibrant4G).
3. yeah their screen is bigger and looks better indoors and on cloudy days, but I live in Texas as a Trucker and we have many more Sunny days than cloudy.
4. MT4G = 756MB RAM, Vibrant/Vibrant 4G = 512MB RAM.

I will, however, be the first in line for the HTC Pyramid (or whatever the final product will be called).
I also would like to laugh at you for downgrading so please switch
Mytouch 4g / CM7 / Minimalist Theme
I once liked Samsung
I had a vibrant and i loved it when it came out, then as half a year passed i still didn't have 2.2 froyo, it was just ridiculous even phones like the lg optimus had 2.2, if touchwiz was delaying the release of 2.2 get rid of it, then the nexus s came out and it was running 2.3, which pissed me off even more to have a phone that is considered top of the line running outdated software. so i got rid of the vibrant, got a mytouch 4g rooted it , installed CM7 nightly build (2.3) and i get updates daily, i will never go back to samsung for anything electronic.Never.
Why would anyone want to trade what I feel is a far superior phone for something they will have nothing but problems with. The MyTouch 4G superior in every way besides the screen display. The screen IMO isn't that much better them the MyTouch 4G. I happen to have one of the good screens.
Nexus One & MyTouch 4G
Vinny
Can not put my Nexus One down.
The Vibrant 4G is just a marketing ploy for people with Vibrants with 2.2 (which it just got) to switch over to 2.3, instead of just updating the software. Don't get me wrong, the Galaxy S is a great phone. Samsung just wants to make money while not caring about the consumer.
I wouldn't do it ....I would just wait for something better like a dual core phone ......I had the vibrant before my mt4g and yeah screen was good but so many problems with lag and updates for it ......I'm super happy with my mt4g I will upgrade as soon as something better comes out but foe now mt4g is the best out there for now ......

for me software is not important, it's the hardware that attracts me as i flash custom roms all the time. the vibrant does have a good development community so if software is not an issue then i say go for it, however, i suggest you just wait because the galaxy s2 will be announced 2 mondays from now and you can be sure that bad boy is coming to t-mobile. or you can wait for the htc inspire...either way my next phone will definitely be a dual core.

Software is very important. Go read Engadgets review of the Optimus 2X. Best hardware on any phone out there but horrible software that can cripple the phone. Samsung's software is horrible and crippled the Vibrant.
Samsung sucks, they screwed up the behold 2 which was great hardware. They screwed up the Vibrant which was great hardware. The Vibrant 4G will suck. The only phone they make that is good is the Nexus S because its stock google software.
If you upgrade or get a good deal then I guess it's ok. But if you purchase this phone at full retail for 650 buck... you're a moron.
So we found out the truth and the rumors are true and the HTC Sensation (pyramid) is upon us. Many of you have been waiting months for this rumor to pan out, know it finally has. With claims that its is a "sexier" Nexus One with a similar design incorporating the Nexus S's curved screen all in cased in an aluminum unibody design. What do you guys think? Discuss all of your thoughts and concerns here. Personally, I am going to buy it. I don't care if this is the last year of T-mobile, at least i am going out in style. Besides Att is then forced to buy me a bad ass phone. LOL

So most of you probably already know this but the rumored "HTC Pyramid" doesn't seem to much of a rumor anymore. On top of that there is indications that it may possibly be the next Google dev phone. Biggest hint is the lack of the htc sense logo and of the pics saying Google not with Google. I am not making this thread to discuss the supposed specs so lets try to refrain from that and go with what is rumored.
1.2 Ghz (in some reports) dual core processor

Its dual core it uses qualcom new 866 chip which lte, hspa+, compatible highest they said it runs is 1.2 dual core. I don't think it will have honeycomb its a sense phone and Google said no overlays on honeycomb. They also trying to end the difference in hardware. So they can get rid of fragmentation. It should equal specs to that of the evo3d. So most likely 1 gig ram. 4 gig rom.
Why is everyone I know excited about the thunderbolt I had it for months on T-Mobile

There is nothing that's vanilla or aosp about it really. Most of the build and components underneath are actually HTC stuff not standard aosp. Like that of the nexus one and nexus s. Basically T-Mobile took a HTC sense phone and threw up vanilla on to it. Cause what the g2 has on it is not true aosp.

There is nothing that's vanilla or aosp about it really. Most of the build and components underneath are actually HTC stuff not standard aosp. Like that of the nexus one and nexus s.

That doesn't make it sense or not vanilla. Its vanilla because there is no overlay just stock android. Its not a sense rom because there is not a sense overlay.

Sorry its late what I'm trying to say is that this phone runs off a whole bunch of HTC drivers not real stock android aosp ones. What T-Mobile says its stock android is not true. Its just a build poorly threw on a phone not true vanilla.

Well, lets hope its the next dev phone then
it would be cool if the pyramid became the mytouch 4g+ 3D/mytouch 4g 3D with full 42mbps support, and dual-core with those killer specs
The G2 is really a sense phone. Saw Kmobs talking about it on Twitter, he says once you delve deeper into the G2's ROM you'll find sense frameworks and libs. He said it's basically a sense rom with an AOSP theme.
But anyways, obviously the Pyramid is going to be a much better phone than the myTouch 4G, but I don't think I'll be getting it. There's no app or game currently out that will even come close to bogging down this phone with it's 2nd gen Snapdragon and 768mb's of RAM. Something it gonna come out in Fall that will destroy the Pyramid anyways. I'll ride out the full two years of my contract till I get something else. With technology of these phone's exponentially rising there'd be no point in me constantly trying to get the best phone every 4 months or so when something even more awesome is around it's corner, unless I became rich! Lol, but that won't happen.

Imho, I don't think anything will come out that beats the pyramids specs anytime soon. I have a feeling this is the third gen top end specs and we will have to live with them anywhere from a year to a year in half. The omap5 isn't expected on a phone untill the second half of 2012. Who knows if u wait for a dual core until then, you may only get a couple months to play with it LOL!
Looks similar to a Nexus One but no track ball.
I hate that !
Thats the main reason I returned the Nexus S, no track pad.
This is what I want. A big screen, nice clean classy look and dual core? Oh I am so ready to put up my mytouch on swappa. I can't wait for CTIA to start already.
I hate the way the mytouch looks, even though I use all my phones without cases, this I had to put on a solid black tpu case on it so I just wouldn't see it. Love the specs of the phone, but hate the looks
I personally love how the mytouch looks maybe because I'm 16 but anyways lol the pyramid looks so cool so futuristic I hope it becomes the mytouch 4g 3d with the new sense and no espresso

I think it will be a mysense phone the next my touch think about the order of previous g series and mytouch series releases first was g1 then mytouch then mytouch slide then g2 then mytouch 4g next is the LG g2x which is vanilla Android so next should be mytouch line why would they release two vanilla phones so close to each other as the 2gx is the next Google phone
Edit: it will be espresso T-Mobile will never do regular sense

So I have a G2x sitting in my shopping cart on tmo(not upgrading paying outright so no contract extenstion) and I'm faced with a huge choice. Do I buy the LG now or wait for the sensation? Like sense but always run cm for speed so every phone that I had that came with sense stock always was replaced with cm. There are pros and cons to both phones
htc sensation:better display and bigger(I actually like smaller screens)
g2x: more internal memory but less ram
htc is 1.2ghx and the g2x is 1.
It's such a hard choice to make. So my question is for those of you who got the g2x why did you get it instead of waiting for the sensation? What reasons did you have on going with the g2x as opposed to waiting for the htc? I really dont know if I should get the g2x or wait it out a bit. I am itching to hit that "complete order" button on the g2x though
I'd be coming from a mytouch 4g

I don't own a G2X, only played with one alongside my NS for a bit. I don't really know that you're going to notice a huge difference in speed coming from your Glacier on CM7 at 1.5ghz ...it's a really fast phone. Are there some other features you feel like your missing with the Glacier that you could get from the G2X?
Edit: I don't have a G2x in my cart, but I'm itching too as well...!
I was waiting for the Sensation....but I only made it 4 hours on the 15th before giving in and ordering online.
Only thing I like better about the sensation is the qHD display...but the G2X screen is still nice.
I also didnt want a huge screen phone that hardly fits in your pocket, the G2X size is good.
Well, I guess I'll just list my reasons out.
1. I, like you, don't like 4.3" screens, 4" is perfect for me and the display on the G2X is fantastic, even at 800x480 resolution.
2. I figured the .2 difference in ghz wasn't a big deal considering the resolution difference in the phones, 960x480 vs 800x480. As we've all seen, the G2X smokes the Atrix because of resolution alone, despite the 512mb ram difference.
3. Ram isn't going to make the phone run any better as we've already seen in Atrix vs G2X. It will help if your running tons of intensive apps at once, but it shouldn't be making much a difference 90% of the time.
4. A lot of devs are on the fence on supporting the sensation due to locked bootloaders. Even Cyanogen has said that they may not be supporting because of that very issue. And dev support is VERY important to me.
5. HDMI Mirroring on the G2X. This feature may also be on the sensation, but I haven't heard of it yet.
In all, I'm very happy I got the G2X. It runs like a champ and that's on Froyo. I can't wait till Cyanogen7 comes out.
P.S. The Optimus 2X has already been overclocked to 1.3 and 1.4 ghz if that means anything to you.
Hope this helps man. Good luck with whatever you get.
I never want a phone that has Sense on it.
Simple choice.
Well I got it because I'm a phone junkie. And I will be getting the sensation as soon as it drops. The G2x is a great phone much better than the vibrant and when it get GB it will be better than the nexus s.

Thanks for that man! Is that true that Cyanogen really might not support the sensation? Dev support is also very important to me. I never rely on carriers, always the community. I too am iffy about a 4.3 inch screen. I think my screen on my mt4g is pretty big enough for me especially since I have two android tablets for when I need a bigger screen android experience

Every sense phone I have had has only had sense on it for a first few minutes out of the box. I love sense for it's eye candy but it's such a resource hog. So I always replace sense with CM
Overall you guys are happy with the g2x? build quality is solid? any issues like bad displays or any nonsense like that?
Im in the same boat. im kinda leaning towards waiting though. The g2x is an awesome device but the larger and higher res screen on the sensation is enough to make me hold off.

if this is indeed true then i would get the g2x also. higher res screen (960x540) is nice but not as important as dev support. Btw, where did you read that cyanogen might not support it?
I'm still going back and forth if I'm going to order it or wait.. part of me really wants to just click that order button.. god I think I've made much more important decisions quicker than this one..

He said it on his Twitter. HTC already announced it will have a locked boot loader. Most devs aren't going to deal with that ****. Poor decision on HTC's part because Samsung has already announced there Galaxy S II will be wide open.

is the sgs2 coming to tmobile for sure!?!?!?!?!?
i think im going back to a razor........ f this
Honestly the g2x is an amazing device and couldn't see myself using the sensation for the sole reason of just sense. I had a mytouch 4g for about 2 days and returned it for the g2 all because of sense. Now from the g2 I'm on the g2x and couldn't be happier. It's a choice you have to make but to completely honest it will be one you won't regret

So all these hours that I've been deciding... I decided to do it. It was in stock when I first put it in my cart, when I went to check out it said it wasnt available for immediate shipment. I looked at the main site and sure enough, it was out of stock Guess I will be calling the closest store in the AM seeing if they have any in stock. After looking at some vids of the sensation I think it's just too big for me. I think the biggest I would go is 4" Hope I can pick one up tomorrow
Hopefully! I'll tell you now my store was pretty well stocked and I was there about 2 hours after they opened. Funny thing is the sametime I was going in I counted about 5 or 6 other people going in for the same thing...good luck! =P

I have a mt4g and I love it. I havent had sense on it....ever. lol The first thing I did when I got it was take it out of the box, root it, installed cwr and then flashed cm 7. I really do like the eye candy of sense but I like my device to be snappy and sense doesnt usually run snappy

If my closest store doesnt have it I'm sure one of the other 49 retails stores in my 5 mile radius in NYC will have one Tomorrow it is my mission to get one.. "It will be mine....oh yes, it will be mine"
anyone want to buy a mytouch 4g? hahaha
I'm personally waiting on the sensation I have a g2x its a nice phone I only use it for HDMI mirroring only use for me. I'm not scared of lock bootloader just be harder to crack. People said the g2 was unhackable and look at it now. Motorola signs thiers and uses encryption. The thunderbolt was hacked as well. If their is enough support it will be broken. Alot of developers are going still get this phone. The evo3d will be hacked as well once either phone is hacked well have an opening.

Your really not waiting for the Sensation since you already jumped on the G2x. By the way you must have the worlds greatest will power if you have G2x and are still using your outdated Glacier.....rolls eyes.
