Boot into recovery, wipe cache & dalvik-cache. Reboot, from Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications, find Maps, then select "Force Stop", "Clear Data" and "Clear Cache".
See if it behaves after all that.
If not, you can try rebooting into recovery again and repair permissions.
You could also try over-writing the Maps.apk in /system/app/ with the 5.3 one from /system/app/data/ (you'll need to rename it from com.google.android.apps.maps-1.apk to Maps.apk). That'll force the "system" version to be the current one.

Frustrating -APPS NOT INSTALLING

Hi,
Apps are neither downloading nor installing from market.... The bar keeps going forever.... Same problem with amazon app store. Here, they are downloading but not getting installed..... But if I restart the phone twice and try again, 3-4 apps will get installed. Again same story repeats... Does anyone have the same problem?

I had this problem on stock.
To fix it, I went to settings > Apps then I uninstalled the market update (if any) and cleared the cache.
Reboot and try again. Its very frustrating lol.

If that doesn't work, going to Setting -> Applications -> Application Manager and clear data for all the Google programs (don't forget about Talk) and then rebooting the phone fixed it for me. Good luck.
I will try.... Thanks guys

I ran in to this problem. You need to go through the Ultimate Unbrick and then boot into recovery by holding down both volume buttons, then pressing the power button. Then wipe all user data and then do the cache. After that you should be ok.

There are several apps that clear them all together. I use Quick App Manager. It worked without root on my Inspire. Or if you're rooted, there are several others that will probably work or you could also boot into recovery and wipe cache from there.

Layar won't uninstall

So, I never had this problem before.
Usually if I uninstall an app through TB and it still shows in my app drawer,a simple reboot will make it go away.
But this time it's different.
I'm trying to uninstall Layar (bloat), through TB, buy it always comes back to my app drawer. Reboots won't make it go away. And if I click on it, instead of force closing, like an uninstalled app showing on your drawer usually does, it works normal.
As if it was never uninstalled!
I even tried looking for it with root explorer, to remove it manually, but I can't find it in system/app.
Any suggestions?
I think it may be bundled with maps now.

Weird.
But that would explain it.
Never really understood what it does though.
So, if I uninstall maps from my system, and then install it from the market, do you know if it would still be bundled?
Just try it! Remember cleaning dalvik cache after removing. Thwn install maps and see. Trial and error!

I removed it with just Titanium. Another solution would be removing it completely before you flash a ROM.
You could try using Bloat Freezer (on the market) to freeze Layar. Worked fine for me (though technically it doesn't remove it, it just renames the apk so Android can't see it). It's worth a shot.
Have you tried sgstools?

Play market

I am trying to buy an app from the market, but it tells me there is an error. I cleared cache, wiped app data, checked my cc info from my computer. I can buy stuff via my pc, but not my phone. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I Have no options to downgrade or remove updates. I can disable and reenable it, Which makes me accept terms and conditions again but still gives me an error code when trying to buy something

you might want to grab an older version of the market app from somewhere, there are plenty of Gapps packages available on the internet.
It's what worked for me when i couldn't install anything from the market. Restore an old backup, and re-upgrade. That fixed it.
The way I did it was through clearing the cache in settings and uninstalling updates. It worked for me after that.

Went into script manager and tried to uninstall, it wouldn't let me. It asked what I wanted to do with the file, and gave options, one is them being install, so installed vender and phonsky again. Went into apps, play was twice is normal size, had the option to uninstall updates, I did so, and cleared cache. Nothing but an error.

it would be good if you post wich error Google Play tell you, then if someone already fixed that can help you.
I've got a problem with google play, it doesn't install anymore any app, free or shareware, so i removed market and installed an older .apk found on the web, from then on, also after the re-update it started again to work. Also if your phone is rooted you can avoid the automatic update.
I hope this could be useful
Sooooo using rom toolbox, I uninstalled play. I grabbed a very old school market, it worked, but it didn't want to update to play. I junked that, I grabbed inverted market (black and blue) and still the same issue.

Gmail app will not update (slimbean)

I recently flashed my skyrocket to slimbean 4.2 and everything works great, extremely responsive with no lags. Only problem is my Gmail app will not update. It tells me to uninstall and try to re install it but I find that it is not possible to do. Does anyone have a Gmail apk or an idea of how to resolve this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

If it was installed as a /system app it wouldn't allow him to uninstall. If that's the case, use a root file explorer (Super Manager has a ton of features, including a file explorer, you just have to give it root permissions), navigate to /system /app and delete gmail2.apk (or whatever your file is named). You should then be able to download a new version from Google Play.
Let me guess...
Inverted GApps?
I ran into that too (as well as some other apps too). I uninstalled it through TiBU, rebooted, and installed from the Market instead. Worked great.
It didn't work until I rebooted.
It must be a system app which is why I cannot uninstall. I will try those suggestions and let you know if I run into any other problems. Thank you for your input.

Nope, I didn't. I'm just staying on one ROM for now if I flash a new ROM and restore data from a different one it will work, but then there's some problems that occur from restoring the data, you know?

Try this go to applications/Google play the clear data/catch then uninstall updates. Let it recalculate the app then try opening play store from app drawer. If it works it will reupdate the play store once you enter.
If that don't work then maybe time for a super wipe.

Have you edited the lcd density at all? Did you uninstall or freeze any system apps that play store uses? Do you have system apps that you restored from earlier roms that were on different Android builds? Is your recovery and su app up to date?
This is what I'd try:
Go to app manager then all apps clear data and cache from Google services framework and play store. Reboot.
If that didn't work then id reboot to recovery then format system then advanced restore the system from a nandroid. Next wipe cache/dalvik and fix permissions, reboot.
Obviously, have/create a back up before hand
