power button is killing me - HTC Inspire 4G

My power button is completely flat, if not even recessed slightly. It still works without a problem, but it seems like its worse than it used to be.
Debating whether I want to return it, as I'm rooted and have the phone set up exactly as I like it.
Anyone else hate the power button?

If you're rooted you can always back the phone up, return it to stock ROM, return it, root the phone, you get back (either yours or the new one) and restore your backup.

I know. I want to go look at the phones that the store has and see if it's the same.

Sorry it's a big picture.

I found it difficult also, but I bought an otterbox case and it covers the buttons with a raised piece of rubber that actually works out a lot better for me.

Its a known problem that every HTC Inspire/Desire HD experiences. I got a case (Casemate Pop) and the rubber button on the case makes it easier to press.

My Case Mate has a rubber cover that helps me too. You may also consider the app "nolock" It bypasses your lock screen unfortunately but it will allow you to use your volume buttons to unlock.

I have one of those cases, makes it a little too bulky. I'm using a barely there case that doesn't cover the power button.

I might try that. Paired with lock screen widget, I'd never have to use the power button.

I hate it as well. I'm currently using Widgetlocker, which allows me to wake with the volume rockers as well. I try to alternate what I use to wake the device (3 options). HTC, for some reason, chooses to make all their power buttons like this. It's the reason why I returned my Tilt II back in the day.

One of the case mate or otter box cases can fix the issue. Its hard to say by just the picture but your button might be slightly more depressed. Check store units for comparison.

Hardware buttons backlit?

Are the hardware buttons of the G-tab backlit (eg, does the writing glow in the dark)? (home, settings, etc)
My wife thinks they look like they should be backlit, but they aren't lighting up. I'm not sure if this not-lit by design, or if the lights on our unit are broken.
Can anyone confirm if their G-tab buttons are backlit?
Not backlit.

If you're talking about the touch buttons next to the screen (search, home, menu, back) they are not backlit. There are some modders here that have tried diy projects to add LEDs or drops of glue to add a bead next to them so that you can either see them or feel them in the dark. ROMs like VEGAn have them as soft buttons on the status bar on the screen for you to use as well.
If you're talking about the hardware buttons like power and volume they are also not backlit.
Here is a simple mod to locate the buttons in the dark.
Simply cut a tiny groove in the plastic bevel next to the buttons. They should have been there from the beginning if you ask me.

What does that do? Allow you to "feel" where they are, or does this illuminate them in some way? If it is a feel thing, there are many ways to "mark" them with some tactile application for "feel".

Indeed, it just allows to feel, but away from the buttons themselfs who are touch sensitive (so you don't have a problem when you feel the wrong one and it feels you right back). It also cannot be rubbed off or become sticky with use (like glue beads, for example).
Button Savior located in the market is a nice solution for those not wanting to modify the exterior. It allows you to access the same commands on screen that the touch sensitive one do.
Wow, thx for that tip Mike - just what I was looking for!

[Q] Volume rocker

Does anyone else's phone have a problem with the volume button where the bottom half is stiff? When I use it to increase the volume, it works fine. The bottom half doesn't click as well and sometimes doesn't register a click.
Any one else experiencing this problem?
Mine is stiff on vol up and down. Feels about the same on both buttons. It looks like just one button, a rocker switch actually
Mine is now broken
I must have damaged the very light piece of metal that covers the volume switches while removing the battery cover at some point.
The rocker is very flimsy and moves around quite a bit, almost falling out at times.
I really love this phone, but the mechanical buttons (power & volume) are not working well for me and needless to say I have "issues" with the battery cover.
I'll probably be flashing back to stock and exchanging this phone and try to be extra careful with the next one.
I don't like the volume rocker at all -- especially when you have a case on the phone.
mine works too well, every time I grab the phone to do something, the volume screen comes up to tell me I hit the volume rocker. It is like the iPhone4, now I have to plan ahead on where to hold my phone.
I returned my first Inspire due to a stiff upper rocker.. My replacement was a 1000x better, how it should be.. No issues to this day
Have been concidering in swapping mine out because on the volume up it's very stiff actually it's almost as if the up was dented inside but then again I am also concidering the Atrix instead so I haven't acted on it.

gets some getting used to
if you constantly use volume i could see it as an issue
i hardly use the thing
Is it just me, or is the volume rocker really flush with phone?
Mine is so bad, almost have to use my finger nail to press volume.
Only had for 2 weeks, should I swap for a new one?
it sounds like i wasn't the only one with this problem! I received a refurb unit from insurance, and ended up sending it back and getting another replacement. After i went to the att store and checked theirs out, i realized mine could have been much better so i got it replaced. The Vol Up basically had no click. They both work, but it bothered me there was no physical click. Just didn't seem like it was going to last. My replacement is much better.

It simply fits.
Not bad but I cannot stand the hole in the left hand corner!

We call this style the DiamondFlex at TPU-Cases, others simply call it the Diamond Pattern. This look amazing on the phone. We didnt make this style for the G2x, but have made them for numerous other phones. I've never seen a TPU case designed like the one you posted, I'm surprised its able to hold its shape with such a large cutout in the corner. I personally would of done 2 holes in that corner instead of 1. Although we ended up just using 1 hole for the power button since only the Korean model has that corner port anyways.

Yes, this hex pattern looks pretty good. This is a reason why I went for this. Moreover, it simply fits 100%. It's pretty easy to put on but it's not loose at all.
I can live with this "TV antenna" cutout though.
Wondering how this compares: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050ISVW6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=A2HOCXU5SC35JO Obviously this one is solid black, and it doesn't appear to have an antenna cutout.
I just ordered one anyway, hopefully it will work for me.

My power button stopped working - Man is this ever a challenge

This is a bit of a rant topic.
My phone case is one of those hard, yet bendy plastic cases.
Simple. $10 bucks. i think i grabbed it from a kiosk in a mall.
The case is a tight seal around my phone - as expected
however, through my 12 months of playing with the phone, taking the case on and off, hard reboots etc, my power button is officially unusable.
The button itself is stuck in the phone. it's as if it pressed it down and it never came back up.
This makes life with my One X very difficult.
turning the screen on and off is difficult. it's now extremely sensitive. just brushing the tip of my finger over the top of the phone turns the screen on and off multiple times.
I can't press and hold the button to bring up the reboot menu - although it does work sometimes (seems like the lower the phone's temp, the more likely it works)
Just makes life difficult. Sometimes a ROM needs a nice reboot, and it's near impossible for me to do so!
I've resorted to opening up a command line and giving it the ol' reboot command, but goddamn!
Im now officially waiting on the Nexus 5
Anyone else with similar experiences?
It's almost definitely caused by the cheap case you put on the phone. For rebooting, you could use an app called Quick Boot, it's a simple app which has options for rebooting (system/bootloader/recovery/power off).

[Q] LCD Glass unsticking

I have had the nexus 5 for about 6 months now, and i'm starting to notice a part of the glass coming off. The area around the volume buttons to the center of the screen makes a sticking sound when pushed down on, and i can feel it pushing in a little bit. It's most noticeable on the edge directly next to the volume buttons. There are no visible cracks as far as i can tell. Phone works fine besides this. Should I be worried and replace the screen or just let it be? I don't notice it if i don't push down too hard.
Never had this happen to me on a phone before. Thanks!
That definitely shouldn't be happening.

It's not very visible and pictures don't show the problem.
It feels like the glue in that area is just dried up in that area and isn't holding down the screen correctly. but its only a small area so right now its not too big of a deal.

Ask for google support, they will replace it. Mine was losing the back cover letters and google replaced it
Hi all. Wasn't sure if I should reply to this old thread or start my own...
I have a Nexus 5 that's over 2 years old. So no warranty. It looks like my screen is starting to come off in the bottom right corner. I think it's just the glass. Take a look at the attached pic/video and let me know what you think I could/should do. You can see I can move it by pressing on it.

It works fine otherwise. Touch/display etc seems all fine. I don't care about this problem if it stays as-is, but I'm worried it will get worse and come off further.
I'm thinking a bit of super glue would do? .
Thinking the sameā€¦
