So I partitioned my sd to have 512mb Ext but I keep getting E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext] Error mounting /sd-ext!
What do I do? lol

Why did you do this? I'm fairly new to the Nexus S but isn't the main storage built in therefore you can't (or shouldn't) really re-partition it? Or am I wrong?

u cant partition it.

Should I have an sd-ext partition on the nexus S ?
Should I have an sd-ext partition on the nexus S ?
I think I don't have an /sd-ext partition and in the recovery I keep getting /sd-ext related errors. Should I ignore them? If not, how can I fix that?
Thanks!

when ever I try to alt s an update.zip it gives me the error message E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk() p1(or /dev/block/mmcblk())
(Invalid argument)
E: Cant't mount SDCARD: update.zip Installation aborted.
But it works with my friends card, how can I fix my card I tried reformatting it but it still dont work.
You reformatted as FAT32 right? FAT16 doesn't work as far as I know.

[Q] About sd-ext location

Couldn't find the answer to this, but can someone do su then df -h in terminal
and find me sd-ext location.
It should be mmcblk [#] p2 or similar.
This should ONLY show if you partitioned your sdcard with EXT parition
Thanks for who is able to tell me

If you want an sd-ext partition, you need to format it with 2 partitions.
The sd is shipped with an fat partition only.

That's why you partition using recovery. And I'm no noob to android so I know exactly what I'm asking for

I didn't say you are a noob.
I prefer to partition with gparted instead of recovery, but it's a matter of taste^^
The sd is mmcblk1.
The first partition on your sd is mmcblk1p1.
Depending how you partition your sd the sd-ext partition is mmcblk1p1 or mmcblk1p2.
And btw the -h switch isn't usable at the device

Sorry for judging. It should only be for cm7 that's why I'm asking
I'd rather use recovery as it's easier

sd-ext format error

Hi All,
I have 16gb sd card and also had sd-ext partion of 2gb.. now i am getting error while formatting the sd-ext..
Formatting / sd-ext....
E:format_Volume: make_extf4fs failed on on dev/block/mmcblk1p2
I am also not able to mount the sd-ext..
I tried to format the sdcard using minitool but even after the format it shows in 12gb free space.
Please help.
Thanks,
Arun
I also did search on forum and all they say is that you do not have sd-ext partition at all... and if at all this has been removed during the format then why the space is not cleared yet?
My phone details:
Samsung galaxy ace
ROM:cyanogenmod 7.2
thanks,
Arun

[Q] Can't mount internal sd!

Hi, I'm having a hard time with my old infuse. A while back on it I tried partitioning the sd card in it (a 16GB class 4) and it seemed successful. However upon reboot it gives me the " E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmclk0). \n (invalid argument) \n Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure! "
So I dont know what to do, any help? Thanks,

i have the same exact problem, do you by any chance have an internal memory card on your phone?

[Q] How to mount entire internal sdcard (/mnt/sdcard2) as /data

Since I'm using a custom ROM that make the External (bigger: 14GB) SD mount as the default /sdcard, and internal (smaller) as /sdcard2 or something I don't really need it and would much rather like to mount it entirely as /data
.. something similar to this script : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124 except that it "Mounts **/sd-ext** to /data" but I want to mount /mnt/sdcard2 to /data
. How do I do that?
Problems: I've found that Android would neither let that internal partition be ext3 (it switches it back to FAT even if I somehow manage to format it as ext3). Nor would it mount /data to a FAT partition. What can/should I do?
