Hey guys I saw couple of posts on GPS problems and after I removed Telenav I am experiencing exact same symptoms (GPS not pinpointing location unless connected to WiFi). The steps I've taken so far:
1. Oneclick Root
2. Using Titanium Backup remove Telenav through recovery exploit
3. Realize the GPS Fail (100% sure it wasn't failing before removal)
4. Using Odin 1.7 and the stock rom provided by krylon360 reflash the phone. (did wipe cache/data properly)
5. Reboot
6. Realize Telenav is not back.
7. Unroot with Oneclick (both rageagainstcage and the other mode worked for me)
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Solved: Solution was in the GPS poll thread for SGS 4G as described by Toshinobu:

Awesome! I'm glad we have one person who has confirmed that this fix works for them.
Can anyone else confirm the fix as well?

Hi,
My Captivate's running stock Froyo with the Overstock 1.1 kernel. I had the cognition kernel before, but in an attempt to solve this problem tried the overstock, with no luck. My phone is just not connecting to my WiFi network anymore... It started with the cognition, but after about a week of having it, not right away and still goes on with the Overstock. I have tried the solution presented in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034074
Also, no luck. I didn't actually find a conf file in /data/misc/wifi. I did however found a conf file at /data/wifi which I proceeded to erase and reboot, but of course, here I am.
Any suggestions as to what I can do and/or what could have caused the problem? The only thing I did recently that could have caused it is emptying the dalvik cache from the recovery mode to try a gps fix which also did not work (my GPS was fine in eclair, but sucks on froyo).
Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Right! So, it's working again! I tries connecting to another network, not the one from my house and it worked perfectly. Came back home and tried again and what do ypu know, it worked! Maybe that solution I tried before worked, but not right away, because I had even rebooted more than once with no luck. Cheers, xda!

This happens to me all the time. It's not the phone it's the router. But the only way I can fix it is by replacing the dhcpcd under system/bin via root explorer.
I have listed the file below. Basically when this happens it will keep scanning and then disconnect from my network. Other networks work fine. I just keep a back up of the original dhcpcd file on my sd card and replace with with the one below. Problem solved. Then switch the files back around. Like I said this is a problem when the router for some reason not the phone.
Heres where I found the solution @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907772
Excellent! Thanks! I'll keep the backup around!

The cleardroid is the best ROM i have ever seen on the XDA, but a few days ago when i flash my htc inspire 4g with Cleardroid gingerbread build, my messaging doesnt work. When I click on compose message, I got force close error on it. I have done some steps to resolve it but unable to resolve the issue.
1) First I have clear the data of messages from the settings.
2) I have run fix permissions from ROM manager.
and some other steps; but it didnt solve my problem.
Also wifi hotspot is not working.
Due to this i have downgraded the ROM to froyo again.
Please work on it, and resolve the issue, because i want to keep this rom on my phone.

Regarding the hotspot issue, that one is a real pain in the butt, and if you check the apps, there is a secondary tethering app included that is known to work for you.
The MMS issue is a strange one. Only about 1 in 100 users have any problem with it, and they are all different. Try this:
1. Make a backup through Rom Manager.
2. Do a full wipe, including dalvik wipe.
3. Re-download the ROM and reinstall.
4. Make sure you aren't running any apps that may conflict with Android, such as task managers or antivirus apps.
It may have been something to do with old app information being stored, or another app interfering with it. We will try to get you sorted out.
Hi,
I'm running latest OTA on my non-rooted Nexus S i9023.
In my country (due to copyright reason I think), I had to download youtube app (2.3.4) from the internet to get it on my phone and had until today no problem with it.
Today, I got forcecloses when pressing the username under a video to get access to the channel page with all the video from the related user (EDIT : a few channels work though).
So I disconected the youtube account I was using and had the same issue.
I have also deleted app datas, cache and SD and still the issue remain.
I went back to factory settings (supprisingly I had now acces to factory google app without having to install it manually) with having the same issue (even though I had no google account associated with the phone).
I have searched xda for the same issue but found nothing closely related or topics with no responses.
So I would like to ask people with the same or similar config (youtube 2.3.4, 2.3.6 OTA for the i9023, Nexus S unrooted) as mine if they have the same issue. If rooted and other Nexus S versions have the issue please let me know...
EDIT : I've done a factory/data/cache reset from stock recovery and let you know if it works, maybe I'll re-flash stock 2.3.6 OTA. ---> I've done both, problem NOT solved.
Thanks a lot for your help.
EDIT : I've just tried the same operation on my old rooted XPERIA X8 running GingerDX with other simcard and google account and had the same issue... I guess it's somehow youtube related...
EDIT 2 : PROBLEM SOLVED THIS MORNING
How did you fix it ? because im still having the problem
Yesterday YouTube started force closing on me out of nowhere. I cleared the data, cache and I've tried to uninstall it and reinstall it but it still does it when trying to load a video. Odd thing though is that some videos work and some don't... Not sure what's going on here.

When someone sends me a message they get this message automatically "Command not supported* Battery remaining 95%"
The battery % changes whatever my battery status is. It also shows in my list that I actually sent the message. Anyone have a clue what is going on here?
You've been around for a while, so hau about some more information such as:
When did it start?
Recent changes to the phone (before and after this started happening)? Specifically ROMs and applications.
Anything you've already tried to fix this?

Well, if any of the information was needed I would have said it. There have been no recent changes, this started today (hence the post). ROM is listed. This happens rather I use stock messaging or another. No fix has been done since I don't know how to fix and have never seen this issue (hence the post). If you can help great, if not that is fine too.

Have you started simple - pulling the battery?
Also - any battery status apps installed? https://market.android.com/details?id=net.mobilemonkeys.Battery looks like some have the ability to automatically respond to a text with a battery level - one might be going rogue?? (SMS Commander is another that can do this)

No battery apps. Tried pulling battery, nothing.
If this just started today, there had to be something that triggered it. Have you considered flashing your backup (assuming you have one) to see if it goes away?

That's about where I'm at.
Seems like an app issue, rather than a carrier/rom/w/e issue.
And given it's obscurity, one is going to have to clean wipe down to base ROM without any installed apps/widgets and see if the issue persists.
If it doesn't, then reloading Apps-Data and see if it persists...
If it does persist before reloading apps-data, then they would have eliminated some unfathomable number of variables...

If something triggered it, I have no clue what did. Last night, I charged my phone, woke up for work, the wife sent me a text and that is when it happened. I have a back up yea, which I might have to do.
Did you ever fix this or figure out what it was? My GS3 has started doing this. No ROM, rooted and unlocked. Only SMS app I have installed would be Mighty Text.

That is weird!
Here's what I would do...
1. Check for any apps that updated through the Google Play Store overnight
a. If any updated, uninstall and see if that fixed your issue.
b. if none updated, continue to step 2
2. Reboot into CWM Recovery and wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions from CWM
3. Test your device
a. if problem is fixed stop here
b. if problem persists continue to step 4
4. Verify that you do have a nandroid backup of your phone
a. to do this, open file explorer and navigate to the you CWM folder on your SD card and verify a nandroid backup has been made
b. if one is not made, reboot into recovery and do this now!!!
5. Go to settings and reset your device.
6. When phone boots back up, test SMS
a. if issue persists, download CM 7.2 and re flash your rom and go to step 7
b. if issue is fixed, continue to step 7
7. If the issue is fixed, you know its a setting or app on your phone causing the problem.
8. If you have a previous nandroid backup, which you stated you did, flash the nandroid through CWM
9. Test SMS
a. if issue is fixed GREAT
b. if issue is not fixed, wipe your phone and install your apps back one by one from the google play store
Previously when I would flash a CM ROM I would dirty flash it so I didn't have to reinstall my apps back to my phone. If you are flashing nightlies of CM 7.2, I would do a regular flash to wipe the device completely.
On a side note, an Unofficial version of CM10 is available for the Inspire 4G... It will be picked up by the CM Dev team in about a month. That means we will have some Jelly Bean love official from CM.
Cheers!!!
i have a nexus 5 that is completely stock. I used to have it rooted but decided to go back to stock for lollipop. I am running android 5.1. Since I have had lollipop I have zero gps capability. I feel like I have read every thread on the subject and tried every suggestion, but I can never get the gps to lock.
I have tried the. Card stock gps antenna fix, didn't work.
I tried factory reset
I tried device only
I have used gps test and fix
I have used gps status and toolbox
I tried safe mode
I tried mapquest
Bottom line my gps doesn't work at all, it used to, but not anymore. Any ideas on what to do?
Same thing here and I also tried most of what you describe --- 5.1 (LMY47D), clean install (no OTA).
Select high accuracy
What does GPS status show? Flat lines for all satellites? What is the setting you're using for downloading the assistance data?
I used GPS Test and GPS Status -- here are two screenshots: i.imgur.com/o2B5QCk.png
Meanwhile I flashed LMY47I and re-installed everything from scratch. It still feels sluggish but now I can get at least a GPS fix after a couple seconds. Hope it stays this way.

The only solution seems to be this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBpNtWvY454 (confirmed here)
I also tried several tricks and nothing works.
What is the easiest way to do a complete wipe and flash to the latest version of android to see if that will fix it?

The above hardware trick worked for me though (and optimizing the gps.conf file for my region/country).

Thanks for the tip...optimizing the gps.config file is something I have not doen. Can you provide speifics n how you go about doing that? I will try that before I wipe it and start fresh.

Until 'Extra Suggestion.....' I didn't try Leo AGPS Injector BTW.
I just wanted to update everyone...I wiped the phone clean and flashed the phone to the latest stock. GPS issues remained, so I rooted it and tried the GPS.config tip and it didn't help either. Then I downloaded FasterGPS and used it (basically does the same thing the GPS trick linked above does) and now it works again. It takes about a minute for it to lock so it isn't super fast to lock, but it works and I have not heard the GPS signal lost since I did FasterGPS.
Thanks for all the advice and suggestions.
