Otter Box commuter case - Desire HD Accessories

If anybody is looking for a good case for their DHD then I recommend the Otter Box Commuter, great case just got one fits like a glove and will protect really well.
It's in two parts a soft silicone insert with a hard plastic shell over that best I have seen and not to bulky all in black looks mint.

Is this soft enough so that I can put my phone in and take out several times a day or that will be hard to do?

Yeah you can do that easily. The commuter case hasn´t those case mate pop case - problems.

Hello,i've bought Otter Box Defender for moutain bike , a very good case too ...

Have one myself, happy with it , still think it's way overpriced !!
my 2cent

Does this case have any problems with blocking GPS like some people have experienced with the Case-Mate Pop?

No, but it makes the DHD much bigger.
When you take the Phone in your trousers pocket it rubs at the sides of the pocket.
But i need to say, that i have no Otterbox but an similar produkt from amazon ^^

Thanks.
That's quite surprising considering the extra thickness the case provides.

It is a great case - but very pricey compared to simlar types of case - often described as hybrid on eBay.
I bought a two piece silicone and plastic for a Nokia N8 and it only cost about £4.00. One 6th of the Otterbox - but so far there doesn't seem to be any hybrid 2 piece cases for the DHD

Body Glove Cases.

Any Idea's of where to find them? i had one with my G1 and loved it.
same i want one but body glove dont make it yet.. hopefully they do soon
Best cases out there are the naked cases by case mate don't know if they plan to make one for nexus or not sure hope so. Hate not having any protection at all!
I had a body glove case for my MyTouch and it broke within about 4 days. Was really disappointed I paid $20 for that thing =\
Any hardcore protection case would be nice at this point. This slide in case that came with the phone just ain't cutting it.
^agree, I need a metal case to protect this work of Art!

If your MyTouch went unscathed from whatever broke teh body glove case then you should not be dissapointed as you did not break the phone. While it should not be a one-time thing, the case may have protected the phone as intended.

The part that latches on to the belt ripped, wasn't from a drop or anything like that.
Great looking Case! - but it's only a tease for now
I came across this site that makes some really *SLICK* cases for the ....other phone....
too bad, but maybe when N1 hits a few million sold, they will do a similar design for the N1.

Yeah those are very nice. However, they appear to be hardcore Apple. But maybe if they got enough Email requesting they would consider?
That case is soooo perfect I want one so bad.. I sent them a message via contact us telling them they should make one for the nexus one and I also sent them a link to this thread everyone that would like one should definitely send them a message

I ain't going to lie. i've went through two body glove cases on my G1 and both broke the same way. The little plastic clips the held the case to my phone snapped off after time. As far as protection goes the case did a good job quite well and body glove has proven to me that they are good phone protectors. They just need to get better in other little areas.

otterbox defender

Anyone get one yet? Just ordered one off ebay for the desire HD and it was only $35, free shipping from NY. Otterbox website and amazon were out of stock, but wondering if anyone took the route that i did
I ordered otterbox commuter yesterday off ebay and both amazon and otterbox were out of stock. Defender to me is too bulky.
I though desire hd cases would not fit inspire.
Desire hd cases should all fit because it is the same exact size and placement for the casing. And so I take it that no one has tried one yet...mine should be here in a day or so, so I will be the first to review it? Lol and yes it may be bulky but it might be the difference between buying a new phone through insurance or keeping my one with cm7 and zagg shield on it
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I actually got mine in yesterday and I'm actually very impressed. My biggest concern was how much bulk it would add to the phone, but it really isn't as bad as the defender on other devices (iPhone). After putting it on and using it for a day it actually feels pretty good in hand and I don't worry about carrying it with me when I go out for a run.

Anyone knows if the clip that comes with the defender series will allow the commuter to securely clip onto it?

Would that be CaseMate? Tough?
There are quite a few threads open about cases already...
I bought a 2$ silicone case from dealextreme, still waiting for it to come in, but good reviews on it.

I am sure it's been mentioned before and there are probably even some reviews, but I can highly, highly recommend the Case-Mate Tough for the Desire HD. It's an amazing case, by far the best one I've used.
I've had it for a couple of months already. It fits great, looks great and feels great in my hands. So far after 2 months of use it looks like brand new - no wear around the edges. One thing I was a little bit concerned about in the beginning is that the bottom part, which is rubber only (look-up some pictures) would stretch and sag, but that hasn't happened at all.
Just go out and get one, you won't be disappointed ;-)
I got a Case-mate Barely There case.
It's good enough for me as i haven't dropped my phone so far. usually happens in the first few days.
Screen film is also great, can barely see it and the phone is perfectly usable.
I Got A E-Cell Carbon Fiber Case,
Got It Off Ebay For £4.99
Seems To Be Of Decent Build Quality
Tough case user here too, awesome case. Lovin it.
no cases ftw
I am using one from Capdase (http://www.capdase.com/en/product5.php?cid=1&bid=5&mid=1153&pid=8890)
Has been serving me well and saved a drop too! DHD becomes more rugged with this.
Otterbox is the best bet for protection. I'm currently using the defender series. It feels really safe and secure. Although quite expensive, well worth the investment.

Ballistic vs Aegis

Hi,
I've been incessantly reading through this forum and am loving it. Read most of the case debates and anker vs mugen debates. I've recently got my Sensation and being a clumsy oaf have decided to case it - no matter the bulk.
From what I've read Otterbox cases have a few flaws, as does the Case mate tough series. Seidio seems to be holding people in good stead but i'm undecided about it. (yes I read the mini review and other threads)
The ballistic seems to be getting thumbs up all around (even on amazon and here)
http://www.goballisticcase.com/products/htc-sensation-4g-ballistic-shell-gel-sg-series-case
Am really leaning towards that.
The Aegis Trident seems less protective but has a cool feature that I thought was really thoughtful - the silicone flaps for each of the orifices (so to speak) to protect the openings from dust
http://www.tridentcase.com/case/htc/htc-sensation/htc-sensation-aegis-case.html
Comes in a lot of colour options too.
Would like your inputs in deciding between the two. Or possibly Seidio.
Ballistic is great, except for the weak point, hard plastic above the volume button.
It could crack when you take it off or put it on, or if you drop the phone left-top corner down...

Using the Otterbox commuter. The commuter is ALRIGHT but the flap that covers the headphone jack keeps popping out and the phone is a tad slippery. However as a whole it's a good case that is not too bulky unlike the ballistic.

I have the ballistic and love it had it for a month and it hasnt broke on me yet. It looks super nice as well lol.
Thanks guys!
It is really necessary to have those flaps? The ppl with seidio and Ballistic (sans flaps) do not seem to be complaining about the lack of it.
I don't mind bulk but I work in a school (dusty environment) and I want to protect my new possession.
So I suppose Commuter is back in the reckoning - reviews suggest issues with the headphone flap and a cheap A$$ screen protector which covers only the display area.
And I think the Aegis is out.
Just for looks value i like the TUT case as well But it has charging port issues. Have the later iterations eliminated this? Can anyone confirm?
I have all three cases Trident offers most protection just to big for me. Otterbox when new was great, then some weeks later flaps got flimsy and kept popping out. Seidio which has open ports is not only slim but feels great in the hand and offers just as much protection as the Otterbox other then it being dust proof.

+1 to ballistic, I was on the same boat as you looking for a good case, I bought the ballistic and never looked back!

I found this case on Amazon .
Did anybody of you already buy it?
It looks very good, and the aluminium plate inside the case should give a very good protection if you put your Nexus 4 in a rucksack or bag with some other things.
Is there a similar leather case with some sort of protection built into it? Because the main downside of this bag is its high price...
Looks like a quality product but the price is pretty high to buy it without any reviews.
Looks good, but $30? Probably not. I'll think about it when it's $20 since it's aluminum plated on ONE SIDE ONLY.

I've ordered it but it won't ship for another week or two. I currently have the SGP Crumena leather pouch for my Galaxy Nexus. They aren't making one for the N4, so I had to hunt down for another similar pull tab case. The only ones I found are this one and another from PDair but theirs does not have the pull tab. I had a Proporta leather case for my old iPod Touch and found it to be very good quality.
Maybe I don't get it, but won't this shield the phone from cell/wifi/etc)

I think you are right, but as richteralan said - the aluminium plate is one side only, and the antennas are on the back - so they should work fine.
I bought one. I'm not typically into these types of cases, but heck, why not?! I've spent $30 on dumber things
Got an email from them. They cancelled my order because of "compatibility issues". Seems like they were intending to use one of their cases for another phone for the N4 and it doesn't fit properly? who knows. pretty annoying though.
Heads up! I bought it before it got discontinued. Just tried it out.
They are right.. It doesn't fit. It's waaaay too tight and the phone doesn't fit all the way in That's a real bummer imho. That's the best looking leather case out there in my opinion.
So if anyone knows of a similar case. Please let me know Doesn't need to Nexus 4 exclusive. Just Nexus 4 compatible
Try the Bugatti leather cases here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062260
