Geek for Me is proud to release:
Updated Radio.img for Android 2.1 (radio version 2.42.00.03.10) for Sprint
This has only been tested and confirmed as working on Fresh 2.0d but will work on every Sprint 2.20.651.1 based rom
Flashing an updated radio will typically give you better battery life and better signal
Different radios work differently depending on where you are in the country. You may actually get better performance out of another radio. Test them out.
This won't fix any current problems with the 2.x roms, but it will make your phone more efficient
Don't hold me responsible if you brick your phone
Don't flash this unless you have a CDMA Hero
In case you are wondering, our stock one is 1.04.01.09.21
Check this post for how to flash it: How To: Flash a Radio Update Sprint HTC Hero
DOWNLOAD: http://geekfor.me/downloads/radio-242000310
Appeciate all you do for my phone man! Probably a stupid question but does 'all 2.20 based roms' mean that radio number specifically or jus any above that?
Edit: Just answered my own question. 2.20 is the software number. DUHHH!
awesome Flipz!
would you personally recommend updating to this radio?
Cool! Is this much different from your last radio?
Gonna give it a shot.
Thanks!!!
flipzmode keep up the 'GREAT' work. We all have benefited from your tireless efforts and professionalism!!!
I haven't had the "GSM bug" on this radio where it drains your battery by searching for GSM towers. But I can't promise it will be the same for you.
Installing now. Seems to be stuck on "Formatting CACHE:..." Is this normal ?

Once it says that, just go to the top of the menu and reboot the phone. That's what I did and it worked fine.
Yes, I followed the directions, rebooted and all is good. Thanks.
Just a question... Flipz, did you accidentally post an old Radio? Because I just checked my phone, and it is a higher version that what is posted here... I have: 2.41.05.02.03.

These aren't changes or tweaks by me. If it was I would absolutely post everything I did to it and I would have a much better explanation that "it should work better." These are made by Sprint.
Im new to the android community and phones. I bought an Inspire with gingerbread (2.3.3) and would like to add cyanogenmod to it but the tutorials look so "harmfull" they scare me away so i have some question.
Can i downgrade from 2.3 to android v1?
Have anyone here rooted and flashed the same phone I have?
What is "radio? Can I change it to another one? how can I tell if it will work with my carrier?
please, please, please. READ
these questions you are asking concern me
1. you dont downgrade to v1....because it doesnt exist
2. we all have the same phone as you, otherwise we wouldnt have an inspire section
3. there is an entire thread dedicated to this very subject....look in the dev section.
there are easy to follow guides, tutorials, and walkthroughs here, but you have to READ...there is ZERO excuse for not reading and comprehending this stuff. if it is too much for you, you should NOT be doing any of it, and leave your phone stock
This is why I said..im NEW with this... none of what you helped in some way.

then you have some READING to do. nobody here is going to hold your hand.
ALL the information you seek is already here, but you have to READ
Sorry if all you want is someone to hold your hand and spoonfeed information to you
NEW or not, it doesnt matter. I was NEW to this phone when i got it. I READ, the same way i have done with all my other phones. I READ to understand what i am doing and how to do it.
heres the first thing you should have read when you came to the inspire boards:

this question has come up several times in the last month. yes it works just fine
Hi, i just rotted the unit and everything was fine
So i decided to use, cyanogenmod, it installed
now i can make calls but it does not connect to the data network portion.
Any ideas?
I noticed the radio baseband is slighly different than the original. could it be?
Sorry. was quick. i entered the APN settings and it is now connecting.. just Edge....before (stock rom) i had "H" (guessing is 3G). Now it only connects to E (edge i assume).
The weird thing is that before whenever i was in an area with only edge It would not allow me to browse but now I can.
any idea jedi master?
you can try a different radio. look at the radio thread in the dev section
Sorry to bother you so much. I was able to solve the radio issue. Now, since the market app wasn't included i followed the guide on how to install gapps but after doing so i can't get pass the boot screen "touch the android to begin".
I try to wipe and reflash but still does not let me do it. Any ideas?
did you touch the android to begin?
Yes, sir. But it will still restart.
i try to wipe data and restart the process but same thing happens.
Tried taping the four corners and an still happening.
Someone said the the gapps file might be corrupted.
Right now cyanogenmod is a pain. is there a way to install another room or the stock one through recovery?
Thanks for all your help!

you can install any rom you like in recovery.
boot into recovery
go to mounts and storage
mount usb storage
on your computer, copy the rom zip onto the phone
back,
install zip file from sdcard
browse to rom zip
confirm flash

What is this rom manager you speak of? I've never heard of a working rom manager for this device. Does rom manager work? Perhaps the answer is posted here somewhere?

No. Not yet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305560
For GB, just flash (oden/heimdall/heimdall one-click) any gb kernel in the dev forum and you should get CWM (unless the kernel is a fully stock kernel, like the first one in my one-click collection).
A little lecture could help you. This has been answered like 100 times a day.
Use latestodin, flash ravers kj6 odin rom (yes, you have to be in dl mode and rom file goes in pda and i think you need to decompress the .zip file so u use the .tar) and after that just flash drhonk kj1 kernel so you can get root and cwm. Then you can flash gb roms without problem.
Theres a big post saying that Rom Manaher doesnt work wotj raver.
actualy rom manager has a Galaxy s 4G setting now so yes it does work

No. "NO" means "no".
If you don't believe me. Go ahead. Flash it, then wonder why you can't flash anything from it or do anything with it.
Everyone who has told you that it doesn't work is trying to save you time and headache.

Also, tehgyb gave you all the good links (thanks man!)
Instead of insisting on using rom mangler, you should listen and read.
If all you want is clockwork mod + root + gb, just heimdall one-click my kj6 kernel and stock rom... The link that says: Download SMS KJ6 Kernel Stock Rom with Bootloaders
After you run that, you can flash roms with CWM (not rom manager) as you wish, and you will always have root with that kernel.

I think I'm ready to flash a custom rom. I've read and read and guess I just want to make sure.
I rooted my Inspire using Advanced Ace Hack Kit, which installed ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.7. I did a Nand backup and I've chosen Energy™ RCMix 4.0 Energized BLUE Edition. It's in the root of my sdcard, I also have my radio and ril ready flash.
Anyone have an input on any steps I may be missing? I'd appreciate the input and hopefully I posted this in the right place.

Well no...should have posted in the q and a, but in all honesty this has been covered so many times you probably didn't need to post it anywhere.
Since you did I will let you know that the ril is always included in the rom your flashing. You do not need to change your radio unless the op of that rom suggests it...even then I wouldn't until you test out the radio you already have after rooting. (The radio stays with you from rom to rom)
Flash the rom and enjoy. Be sure to read read and then read some more. We has lots of info around here...and bad grammer. Lmao!!!!!

I rooted and installed cyanogenmod for my sensation a few months ago. According to the change log, i have CyanogenMOd-7.1.0-SelfKANG10-Sensation. What is the fastest and easiest way to update to the latest version which i assume is cm-9.1.0-pyramid.zip from here:http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=pyramid. can anyone please tell me how i can go about updating to this version. If this helps, about in settings tells me i have 2.3.7 android version and the mod is "CyanogenMOd-7.1.0-SelfKANG10-Sensation" I would appreciate someone telling me the easiest way to upgrade to this.new version. Thanks so much in advance

That guide is fairly general in that it just refers to the 'latest version of CyanogenMod'. So yes as per the OP of the thread I linked you to you will need to install 3.32 firmware. You could install over your current ROM if you really wanted but I'd recommend a full wipe for a nice clean installation.
CM7 is Gingerbread based and CM9 is ICS based so yes you will end up with a newer version of Android, hence the need for the newer firmware.

Firmware isn't removed with the wipe so it doesn't matter too much. I would wipe, install new firmware, install ROM and you should be good to go :good:
Make sure you do a nandroid backup before you start anything, if things go pear-shaped you'll want it. Also make sure you have access to a copy of your current firmware, if you have to restore your nandroid backup AFTER installing the new firmware it won't work as the firmware will no longer match, so you'll have to roll that back too.
