[Q] What i CIFS kernel? - G Tablet General

I already did a search on it and I understand it is to transfer files between computer and android but I already could do that on TNT Lite 4.2.4 with es file explorer. I can copy and paste without that kernel. ATM Im looking at streaming files but the tablet wont play or have to copy first to play. So what other functions CIFS kernel has?

mount share as cifs means you can use the files just the same way as you use your file on the tab.way better than es file explorer, you can play shared video just like it is on the tab

[Q] File Manager for G-Tab that has same capabilities of ES File Manager or Astro?

OK, I have Astro File Manager because Gmail seems to work just fine with using that to add a file attachment. But it doesn't have as good of a LAN access experience as ES File Manager - and while it can navigate to SDCard2, it won't let you create a new directory on it.
I have ES File Manager because paired with it's SMB and Viewer mods it is THE way to read downloaded Manga and it works great to move files back and forth to my shared network disk (4TB). However it can't be convinced to navigate to SDCard2, and I've never found a way to convince GMail that it can be used to select a file attachment.
So what I'd really like is something that can really work with SDCard2 (which is where I'd prefer to put the documents I'm working on, etc), but has ES File Manager's viewer and LAN browsing as well as Astro's GMail file attachment capabilities.
Any suggestions?
You might want to think about installing cifs and cifs manager, that way any file manager can access your network shares.

Perhaps, but I can already use ES File Manager for that. I think the SDCard2 issue is the bigger hurdle.
Why can't you navigate to sdcard2 with esfile? Just open program and hit home icon in the program menu bar and scroll down to sdcard2 directory.
I can navigate to sdcard2 just fine with ES File Explorer. By default it opens up to /sdcard, but if you press the sdcard tool bar button (the first one), it will take you to root where you can access /sdcard2.

That works! Thanks!

[Q] CIFS mounts randomly missing files?

Hi All,
I am currently using Leedroid 2.3d for the HTC Desire.
I started to use CIFS manager to mount my Windows 7 share folders on the phone, I noticed a bug when mounting shares using CIFS manager, if the share folder contains 200+ files, the mounted share will not display all the files in the share. This can be seen using any Android file manager and looking into the mounted folder on the phone e.g. ES File Explorer, Astro, etc...
I've noticed this for a while now, not sure if this is a Leedroid ROM issue or an issue with CIFS.
I'm just putting this out there to see if anybody else has noticed this with other roms using CIFS shares.
For testing purposes I wrote a little VB script that will generate 200 files in sequence into the folder the script is executed from, if anyone wants to see if they can reproduce this issue.
Script is attached.
Thanks.

Anyone ?

[Q] Help needed for bootanimation

Dear all,
I have my eee pad installed with the latest Revolver Rom. I would like to install a custom boot animation. I searched a bit and would like to use ES file manager to create a folder: \Data\Local.
Now, the Data folder is already there but when I try to create a folder, it tells me that I cannot create a folder. I can also not replace the bootanimation under \System\Media.
Is there any way I can get write access here?
You need to allow ES File explorer root access.
Both the data/local and system/media is already there, no need to create any folder. You could also ADB push the file to the location
You can also try an application called Root Explorer (from the market), which works for me. But I've never really used ES File explorer much (there was something I did not like about the UI), so I cannot compare.
Solved!
Thank you for the replies. Indeed, needed to give root access to ES File Eplorer through options in the program.
Cheers!

Flashplayer 11.1.115.12 For Hulu

Here you go folks this libflashplayer.so Works for the SG3 So you can play hulu "among other sites". Download and install the newest flashplayer 11 then use SManager "its free one". Download libflashplayer.rar and extract libflashplayer.so.
Then copy libflashplayer.so to /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib/ No extra scripts no funny installers.
Just copy and overwrite. Also works on Galaxy 10.1 and the Newpad t3 Droid Incredible, plays flawlessly if you use Dolphin. And Then Set Desktop to PC
"DO not use the lite version it just doesnt cut it"
Remneber Dolphin player doesnt work on any device that has android 4.1 and using an older version of dolphin will just make it unstable. Android 4.0.4 is the latest one you can use for Dolphin to work with flash.
Added pure flash player 11 unmodded for ICS
Ive included a script so you can hack your flash player if you are using 4.0.4 OS I lost the link where I got this file however I did find this on XDA.
Basically you just gotta use Smanager and run the script after extracting the RAR file to your SDcard. Just take note where your BusyBox is actually installed. If you dont know then download busybox from the market and then run it. It will show you where it wants to install. At the point just edit the script and change the path of the Bin file to the installed folder where BusyBox is installed. If you use the Flashex205 you will have to uninstall flash player and then install it again. Make sure you are not using the modified libflashplayer.so otherwise the script will not work. GL Peeps
Thanks to XDA for teaching us how to hack cool things onto Cool stuff.
Thanks works great on my HP Touchpad running CM9 (Android 4.0.4). All I did was copy the .so file and changed the permissions in root explorer to match the old .so file. This should work for any ICS and maybe even JB device. Adobe updates may break it, but since Flash is discontinued now that isn't an issue anymore.
Allows Hulu in Firefox when using a desktop user agent and also in the default Browser when set to desktop view (it uses a Chrome desktop ua)

Android File Manager COPY FOLDER PATHS

Hi,
So when I first got Android you could copy folder PATHs with Astro File manager...for whatever reason this feature was removed. I later switched to Root Explorer..
I am looking for a file manager which offers Root support and lets you copy paths...I do not know why none of the popular File managers allow you to do this. Seems like a pretty standard feature IMO..
Can anyone make suggestions?
