If your talking about updating your modem on the Epic, the bonsai rom installation does it for your automatically.
So is this a totally different kernal? Or is it genocide or the newer one?

We are maintaining a Bonsai kernel. We have incorporated fixes from the Genocide development as well as some of the fixes that mkasick has provided.
Our goal is a fast and stable daily driver. Please read the Release Notes to understand what is in this release. That is why we take the time to write those, as painful as it is.

Heads up on v3.0.0 and coming v3.0.1
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on the eminent release of v3.0.1.
Given the recent issues and knowledge gained about CIQ, Mammon and I are working on a resolution to remove CIQ from the system and will be releasing a v3.0.1 as soon as we are able to do that. We expect within the next 24-48 hrs.

Why, quick pic uses less memory, is faster, and easier to move around/customize...

For me it's because Gallery syncs with Picasa where all my photos are stored.
QuickPic doesn't as far as I can tell. JustPictures syncs with Picasa, but only public albums. As far as I know 3D gallery is the only one that syncs with Picasa private albums.
That said, you can just download it from the market.

With Quickpic all I was getting was force closes everytime I tried to launch it. Flashed it twice and cleared cache...blah blah...just didn't work for me. I could do the Apk...just got it out of the beta. Just seems to be comfortable to me. Thanks for the advice.

This. I love quickpic but haven't been able to figure out a way to sync with Picasa. I've ended up (unfortunately) using the stock gallery app again for this sole reason. I hate the stock gallery app, so if someone figures this out, please post.

FYI that I was having this FC issue as well with Quickpic. I didn't take any steps to reflash or anything since I'm not using Quickpic, but maybe it's worth mentioning if multiple people are having issues.

Hey guys, I'm been trying to port Aosp 2.1 onto our heroes too. I've got most the stuff to work, except camera. If someone wants to tag along and help, that'd be great. And now that i finished porting aosp 2.1 mostly i can now officially give it a name
I have to give credit to jnwhiteh over at the modaco board for giving me a platform on which to work on, gbhil for the kernel. maejrep toast flipz quietcblongs and gang who work on the 2.1 sense build and aosp for getting a lot of the functions such as data and radio and sensors to work. Without all these devs, this would have never been possible

v5 - fixed SU whitelist, lights under hard buttons work, a bit more polished of rom with less holes in it. Last to be of gsm hero source
v4 - Based on Cyanogen Framework, OpenGL ES Lite is added for improved 3d gfx, no more live wallpapers due to it depending on openGL ES 1.1
v3 - Multitouch is added, wifi
v2.5 - sensors work
v2 - radio, BT, gps, and sms now work

Chuggy and Slow? You gotta be kidding me? its going pretty smooth and fast for me. And I think thats how the Nexus wallpaper should work, it does random shizz at touch. idk though becuz i've never seen it really at work. hmm, ahh well. Thanks for showing interest.

Ok so i have spent the last few days rebuilding this rom from the ground up and i think it has a lot more potential...a lot of hard work went into it so far and i know there's a lot more work to go...This is update to my first rom for android but for those of you know my work with windows mobile you know to expect nothing less than quality from me.

...A lot of detail went into themeing this rom for literally 3 days of hunting pecking and modifying .9's and png's. so i hope you can see it for the beauty that it is...I will be working with konikub sometime in the near future on new themes for my rom...as well as others in the community.

Just downloaded/flashed and am getting it set up. There are some pretty neat little surprises in the ROM. I wasn't expecting the lockscreen, which I really really like it.
Flashing the Novatec kernel and will likely overclock to 1.113ghz. Been running the Fresh ROM currently with those settings, and it'll be a little different going back to a Sense ROM, but I think I'm going to like it.
Much props on the design and all, is there any chance on getting the background without the HTC logo on it? I don't use the 4x2 clock and prefer to keep my main screen very clean, but man, I love the design on the bg.
not unless i spend another 34 hours editing it...unfortunately that is how the wallpaper came to me.

No worries, I just wanted to see if you happened to have a non-edited background available. I might try to see if I can photochop something together if I pull apart the .zip file. I'll post it on here if there is any interest and you give the ok.
One thing I noticed was that it seems all of the Facebook integration has been removed. I understand why (to cut down as much bloat as possible) but I wanted to see what .apk files I would need to pull from another ROM to get the FB contact sync working. I didn't realize how much I use it until I went to send a buddy an SMS message and realized I don't have him in my Google contacts.
so far so good. just got it up and running. one thing thus far, facebook would not set up for me on initial set up screen. kept tapping it but nothing happened. will try again but wanted to let you know. thanks.

Facebook for HTC was removed from this ROM. You will have to push the right files from a ROM that has them to get it working on this ROM.
Facebook was removed...still a wip...just get the HTC Facebook apk to suit your needs.
Best rom for the evo to date. Amazing color and phenomenal performance. Excited to see where this goes. Great work!

Which version of gapps did you get to work. I tried the 20101114 version and the rom would just boot loop until I reflashed.

I think that the browser fc upon opening because GPS isnt working either. so camera/gps are main 2 things not working.

Awesome so far! The only weird thing I have noticed so far is that I get a FC anytime I try to open Cyanogen Mods in the System menu. Anyone else getting that?
Edit: I'm also having trouble getting my contacts to pull from google... I have tried to manually sync with no success
Edit 2: The contacts took after rebooting the phone. I did clear cache/davlik during reboot

Reason for that is im building an additional settings menu I must have missed taking out the string for the cm settings in the settings apk. basically it's calling something that is not there.
will be trying soon let you know how i like it maybe on update include s2e app and es file explorer or something like that

I have also noticed that when I receive texts and my phone screen is off/locked, the screen will wake up, unlock, and display the text message. Is there a way to turn off the screen wake? Thank you in advance
