Hey guys, I'm been trying to port Aosp 2.1 onto our heroes too. I've got most the stuff to work, except camera. If someone wants to tag along and help, that'd be great. And now that i finished porting aosp 2.1 mostly i can now officially give it a name
I have to give credit to jnwhiteh over at the modaco board for giving me a platform on which to work on, gbhil for the kernel. maejrep toast flipz quietcblongs and gang who work on the 2.1 sense build and aosp for getting a lot of the functions such as data and radio and sensors to work. Without all these devs, this would have never been possible

Gallery3D graphics get 'messed up' slightly if you switch orientation. Either one works.. just switching messes it up.
This is still a developmental release guys, i cannot guarantee you will not run across bugs not listed in the what works/what doesn't list

v5 - fixed SU whitelist, lights under hard buttons work, a bit more polished of rom with less holes in it. Last to be of gsm hero source
v4 - Based on Cyanogen Framework, OpenGL ES Lite is added for improved 3d gfx, no more live wallpapers due to it depending on openGL ES 1.1

Chuggy and Slow? You gotta be kidding me? its going pretty smooth and fast for me. And I think thats how the Nexus wallpaper should work, it does random shizz at touch. idk though becuz i've never seen it really at work. hmm, ahh well. Thanks for showing interest.

Hello, first of all I want to thanks cyanogen, dwang and DBeCe, and all who those guys thanked to.
So, long story short I combined some of Cy's 4.2.4 improvements with dwang's 1.11 SPEEDY ROM, and DBeCe's blanco gray/silver theme with 5 screens instead of 3, with transparent statusbar and some personal touch to it (I am going to create a new theme as soon as possible, time is of the essence). So far everything is Working!

Nope, it doesn't have it, I could add it, but that is for another day, my eyes are really heavey now, just sendind some mails and it's bed time, it's 4 am in the morning here

Just flashed this...so far so good. Spiffing it up a little bit with some transitions, custom images, and various tweaks. I will be running test to see if I can break it. Dwang's roms have always ran well with my phone I expect this to be no different. Will edit this post when done.

Actualy I added separately into my ROM the new contacts, it looks better.

WOW!!!!! The fastest rom I've ever used on my G1 to date. this thing is flying by and never stopping to load a thing!!! Not to mention I haven't even begun to tweak it. No swapper, no over clocking, just reliable fast and stable, Big ups to you my friend you've delivered a true gem here with this one.
Will def keep an eye out for your other roms to come. I do wish that there were more themes available. But I'm sure they're in the works.

This thing is flying like no other. Everything is flawless. Ran into some force closes but not because of the rom just fix_permisson needed, although Bluetooth.apk is still force closing on me. No worries though no complaints here on my end.
On a side note. Why does it say Droid 2.0? Even when my computer finds my phone via bluetooth it no longer says G1 it says Droid...not complaining just wondering.

It is using Dwang's version of Cyanogen's kernel so I believe it is universal.

Hmm well this is odd. I flashed Slacker's theme and lost all data connection. It wouldn't even find networks for wifi. I flashed Blanco for Dwang and added the res folder from Slacker's theme into the framework-res.apk and still no data connection. But flashed the regular Blanco with anim folder from blur and data worked.....suggestions?

Since dwang's rom is a blantant rip of cy's work and you say you merged the two together and then themed it, it is now a rom. I think I am just gonna put my cm4.2.4 on here with my custom remix of other people work and call it a rom and say how fast it is

I reccomend that you flash boot.img in the recovery image terminal

Oh, and if y'all like 3d support and are willing to sacrifice speed and battery life, flash WG-kernel CFS without ram hack, and the corresp. wlan.ko. It'll work, and w/ wifi too.

OK for all people testing this, I am going to make it a REQUIREMENT () that you flash the boot.img at the bottom of the OP. It fixes many issues, including speed. This thing flies now.

Make sure you flash the boot.img!!!
I cannot use that zip because I am on a MT3G and cannot type in my terminal. I just tried installing the right click signing thing, even though simple, I already became confused once I changed the class paths with the errors im receiving.
Regardless, I am trying to find a simple way to sign the zip so I can flash it that way.
download better terminal it has a keyboard for mt3g users

Alright, here it is, my Legend/AOSP custom rom is still very much in the works (not a direct port, I'm building a lot of it by myself, the other parts I'm just adding, like the HTC IME or this music player), so I'll release the fixed app by itself. Hope this is somehow integrated into first post.
I fixed the rotation issue for two activities, the main activity, and the track browser activity (Now Playing).
There's still a bug where if you open your keyboard while at the track browser activity you'll lose the bottom bar, this doesn't happen at the main activity. I'll see if I can fix it later.
I added the eclair appwidget which IMHO looks a lot better than any other. I could have a look later and integrate additional widgets from other threads, but I'd have to get in contact with those devs to see if we could make it happen.
Also, I could change the other activities (the ones that have a scrolling tab) to be viewable in landscape mode with the sensor (without having to use the keyboard). If you guys want that, it's an easy change.
I changed the music app icon to match the new rom I'm making (legend themed), this includes the now-playing statusbar icon.
Install it by either flashing it through recovery (it's inside an update.zip already) or push it through adb (you have to extract it from the zip).

Sorry, i don't think so, i just was able to do this one as it was an app inside the Fender ROM, so the only things nessecary to be changed were some SDK attributes in the AndroidManifest... maybe someone with more skill than me can do it with a bit of framework hackery
Whatever. i'm gonna take a look at that stuff, maybe it isn't as hard as everyone is saying? :s

is it worth it (vs the music mod)? does this include the widgets?
regardless ill prolli flash it when i get home anyways thx

Does not.
But as it uses the same widget as the stock music app...
maybe it's possible to get the widgets running on this via apktool?

1) In my opinion its worth it. Runs perfect on CM5 for me and it actually runs smoother on eclair than a sense rom
2) Does not include HTC widget..But i just make HTC music default for when clicking the stock music widget

but everytime i open the htc music app..the music starts playing without me even pushing play..n its not tat big of a deal..but its annoying.

Ok, New release of my donut rom, i made some changes, removed apk's not worked on first release, and now i themed this using the community expresso. they are very fast and stable.
Please, if someone can test this release for me i aprecciate cuz i no have my phone any more, they are bricked, so i make this build "in the dark" here are the screen shot, the new are are like this, i hope.

not really, if its usable for daily+the speed. theres no reason not to do so.
looks nice, perhaps flashing in 2 days, cos i want to test my friend rom first...
i think the 1.6 version for 192MB of RAM is the best choice, but the 2.1 are cool too.
Maybe i try to cook a 2.1 version. but not now.
I would try it, but I don`t like the RAM Hack one bit I`m a gammrer.. so if you think on releasing a version without it will def. try it .

3D games work slow cuz the RAM HACK. in home i try to cook a version without the ram hack.
I'll give it a go, will report back how I think.
Super fast, which is awesome. Only issue i've had is FC sometimes when I press the home button. I also got FC's when trying to setup google account, but i closed and it worked fine through market.

i wiat your feedback, i tested on my new G1 and no problems so far, i found nothing FC's on it. thx for the try man, cheers.
so far i can say this rom is really quick and stable i have had the phone last 12 hours with normal use 4 hours it was just sitting there the rest of the time was with music and texting and 2 1 and half hour phone calls also 3g was on. so far i have only had 2 FC in the music app aside from that in the zeam lancher the text message preview in the bar dont show because the text is black and you cant see it on the black bar also aside from that zeam is really great i like it alot and its quick
over all this rom runs great ^_^

ABOUT CAMERA/CAMCORDER
The way the camcorder is on this ROM is the only way to get it to work due to the way our source is hacked for cam/camcorder
SETTING UP CAMCORDER:
The AOKP camera app makes an icon in the app drawer for the camcorder, just happens have the same name and icon as the app thats being used for the camcorder. Just figure out which one it is and hide it in apex. On mine the first camcorder app in the app drawer is the AOKP camcorder.
CAMCORDER:
Open camcorder
Press menu
Change "video quality" to 100
Play around with the "resolution" setting. Every phone is different so I'm sure one will be able to use a higher setting than another but it tends to get very laggy and crash at higher resolutions.
And yes, I know you guys aren't stupid but I just wanted to make sure that everyone knew that you had to go into the settings and change the resolution because the camcorder's setting needs to be played with.
For those testing bluetooth, if calling doesnt work flash this and if its still a nogo i guess we wait for deck lol cuz it was broke in the base I used but I've been trying to use parts from PB21 where it worked fully

Will be upping a new version tomarrow with the CM9 camera app I didn't realize the resolution issue. And my Apollo wouldn't either and it was freaking me out I reflashed like 3x and then I finally decided I'd just let it sit for a few and then my songs showed up.

open up the settings app and its the very top setting lol press the little switch

the whole rectangle is a button. like press the word wifi and you should get it

i probably derped..now that you say it i have it on mine to ive always got my keyboard out so i never noticed it. lets see if this fixes it and if so ill include it in the build today.
i think it might have been when i patched the services.jar for supercharger because that was a last min thing and i swear it worked yesterday..
