I recently flashed the stock rom that is rooted with hsupa and sideloading enabled onto my Inspire, and over the last 2 days I've noticed that sometimes when I try to make a call, my phone just hangs up. It's weird, because text and data works perfectly fine, it's only when I make phone calls. Anyone else notice this problem with a rooted rom, stock or not?

Yep, happens to me all the time. Internet doesn't always work either. I "fixed" the problem by setting it to GSM only mode. Now I only have EDGE internet.

Are you on the same rooted stock rom, or something different? I don't seem to remember having this problem when I was just on pure stock AT&T with no root. Somewhat annoying, as I'll have to place a call 3 or 4 times to get it to go through, but what's really annoying is that it is so sporadic I can't gauge when it'll happen!

I've noticed this at multiple times, but haven't been able to narrow down what's causing it. I was running Revolution 1.15, and I think it started when I applied the .16 performance patch. It got so bad last night I couldn't make/receive calls for hours. I did a full wipe an reinstalled 1.15 and all has been well the last 24 hours. I just flashed the 2.1 patch but we'll see what happens. Note: Not only can you not make calls when this is happening you won't be able to receive calls either. It does appear to most often happen when bouncing between networks (HSDPA, UMTS, Edge, etc)

Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem. I thought my phone was defective at first, and now I don't feel so crazy anymore. My sister was furious with me, I had to pick her and her boyfriend up from DIA yesterday to take her to Copper Mountain to snowboard with my girlfriend and myself, and she called me 4 times and I didn't receive a single one. I wonder if it has anything to do with HSUPA being enabled on the phones, but at this point I'm just ready to give up root and go back to stock. I don't make tons of calls, but I'd like to be able to when I need to, and for my phone to not hang up on me in the middle of one. I have noticed though it's particularly bad for me when I'm on bluetooth.
I was also having those problems
I am using Revolution 4G 2.1. I'm in the process of trying to get the problem figured out. Stock rooted rom had problems for me because you couldn't set it to GSM only, and that's the only way I've found to make the phone reliably work as a phone.
If anyone can figure it out, I'd love to know what causes it. I've been poking around myself, but haven't come up with anything worthwhile. I suppose I'll flash a different rom and try that.

Anyone found any clue as to why this happens? I've searched the dev forums but nobody seems to mention this, which makes me wonder if most people have this problem.

I have never had this problem. Running a rooted stocker.

It happened to me again last night. Still had data but lost the ability to make/receive calls. I switched network to GSM only, the data switched to EDGE, and i was able to make/recieve calls. Turned back to GSM/WCDMA, no calls. Rebooted, no calls. Turned back to GSM only, calling functionality returned. I did another full wipe, installed AR 2.1, sound fix, apache 1.6 kernel, and calling is restored when connected to HSDPA/WCDMA. Has been working fine for the last 12 hours. I'll keep you updated. I don't know why it's doing this, and it doesn't make sense as to why a wipe would fix it. The first time this happened I was runing the stock radio. Last night when it happened i was running the recommended radio in the AR thread (M2). I've now switched back to stock this time...let's see what happens
Edit: I am also glad to know I'm not the only one having these issues...maybe someone a LOT smarter than I am can figure it out. It's annoying to have to have a slow data connection to have a reliable voice connection. The last Android I had (LG GW620 Eve), also did this from time to time, but I just blamed it on the fact that it was a POS. My voicemail actually went like this "This is Greg. I probably have no idea you called me just now, so please leave a message and I'll get back to you"
Edit: mike1986 (android revolution developer) just chimed in in his thread and stated these issues should be fixed in version 3.0 set to be released soon. Is anyone else that's having these problems NOT running Revolution?

I had this problem when I first rooted (running Inspire 4G Stock Rom w/Root, HSUPA, and Sideloading from the development section) I installed Android Revolution 2.1 and it went away.
I know from my captivate days that sometimes a ROM just hiccups and a fresh flash can fix the issues. I don't know if this is the same with HTC, but it's all android so It's plausible.

I have tried 3 different versions of the Cyanogen mod on my Hero over the last few days and I can't get my data to stay on 3g. I'm staying in the same areas I've always used my phone and I never had problems before. Luckily I can stay on wireless most of the day, but 1x is driving me nuts.
Radio version is 2.42.01.04.27
Any suggestions? My last thoughts are to go back to stock and hope I get my 3g back...

Maybe you need to update your PRL?
As far as I know, the only way to do that is to flash a Sense ROM, go in to the settings (Under phone info, I believe), and do a PRL update. Then you can flash back to CM6.1 and see if it worked?
You can also try flashing different radios to see which gives the best signal for your area, but that has a slight chance of bricking your phone, so... Be careful?

PRL might be it. I doubt a different radio would help. I've not had any problems with the newest radio and I've been running on it for a while. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a problem with turning off wifi. If I restart the phone I can start and stay on 3g. But, if I change to wifi then switch back 3g doesn't return probably 90% of the time. Disabling and re-enabling data doesn't help either.

Why not post in the correct. Section=Q&A.

I don't really look at the data notification in the status bar but there have been instances where I have noticed that reads 1x. Mine seems to switch and like the OP said I am in all the same areas prior to the 6.1 update. I am using the same radio and PRL list as prior to the 6.1 update. I also have my wife turned off and never really turn it on. So this leads me to think that 1 either in some cases there is a problem with the data maintaining its 3G connection or 3G was busted prior to 6.1 and is now reading accurately...though I do not think that is the case since my sister has the same phone and is running sense and she is not losing 3G
Just out of curiosity, could this explain my poor batter life, I am only getting maybe 5hrs and that is with little to no use.
I had the same problem going to the Nov2 build of the blackmod, 3G dead, nothing worked to fix it short of flashing over to a stock build and do the re-provisioning via the #*# code. After that I totally wiped the phone and installed the new CM6.1 build and all is well.

Cyanogen 6.1 no 3G, After Using Wireless
I also noticed no 3G on 6.1. If I used wireless (802.11 to router), the 3G connection would be dropped, as expected and desired. Upon turning off wireless, the 3G connection would not be reconnected. This was not a problem with ADW not updating. All network apps reported no connection. After a reboot, the 3G connection was restored, until wireless was enabled.
I'm unable to get a data connection with any 2.2 Rom no matter what I try. I have this problem not only with CM 6 and 6.1 but also with AOSP which till the problem started I'd been running everyday since I rooted my phone in September.
Been running Liquid for about four days and haven't had any problems.

CyanogenMod-6.0.0-Heroc Works
Just to be clear, it was the 6.1 RC1 that gave me the problem with returning to 3G after using wireless.

First off I want to start by saying I have flashed my rom to Bamf 1.5 remix. I do not overclock my phone however I have tried limiting my clockspeed hoping to prevent a reboot. The phone did not start the random reboot until I flashed to said rom. I have tried reflashing but no improvements, any ideas?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
It has happened to me but I believe it just me OCing, flashing back to the kernel that I was using before when my phone was stable and testing it out. If not, I will just go back to 1.5
Also, does anyone know how to edit the power control widgets in the pulldown? I can't find any options. Thanks.
Did you flash the new radio when you loaded up BAMF 1.5?
If so, there's your problem
Happened to me with BAMF 1.6 and leankernel 192X, but only when I set it to ondemandX thru SETCPU. Other than that I've had no reboots.

yeah its pretty common for people who flashed the new radio to have reboots. i have had some of those issues, i found that using different kernels at different clocking speeds made my phone more stable. NOTE: i am not a pro, just something i noticed.
What's really behind all the random reboots?
OK... So I've tried just about every rom on the dev thread, I purchased the TB on launch date and had it rooted as soon as Jcase posted S-off instructions... I am now on the new radio and until today, I haven't had a single random reboot. Then all of a sudden, just about an hour ago, as I'm backing out of Tapatalk, bam... Phone rebooted itself...
Now I've been reading on just about every rom thread where people have been experiencing random reboots. Some think the new radio is the cause, but some people are on the new radio and have not experienced this. Others on the old radio still get random reboots.
Others think its the rom but people have noted this issue on most If not all of the rom threads.
Others think its the kernel that's causing it, but again, there doesn't seem to be any pattern to nail it down to a single kernel. Furthermore, some of these people are not OCing, myself included.
Which leads me to the strangest part of all this. My wife also has the TB. Her phone is totally stock and is not rooted. I got it for her day after launch and for the last few weeks, her phone has also been randomly rebooting. Not constantly, mind you. Just enough to be a nuisance. She has still not updated to OTA... The only suspect to this is that this appears to have started after the 4G outage a few weeks ago... And we are in a 3G only area but there was a day or so we could only connect to 1x...
So what's really causing these random reboots? I'm no expert, never claimed to be one, but is it possible that something going on between our phones and the Verizon network is causing this?
Thoughts... Ideas...?

stock rom, not rooted, has had multiple random reboots
I have had no random reboots, or none that I have personally experienced. I figured if my phone was randomly rebooting I would have noticed a considerable battery drain. I have not noticed that yet. I honestly think that this might be an issue for people with little to no 4g coverage. I am bothered that this has not been addressed yet by verizon as I have seen so many people complain about this.
Hopefully I dont get these either, who knows may it is just phones that are may be defective hardware wise.
Well i just wanted to drop my $.02
I am Rooted and have been just about the same time the OP has been rooted.
I USED to have reboots. I install the full RUU and had reboots i also installed just the RADIO file and had reboots. I also reverted back to stock by the RUU provided by JCase. I Then flashed 1.6 followed 1.6.3 and have not had any problems. I assume that those 2 already had the radio file in them and i didn't not have to flash anything additional. Since being on 1.6 then 1.6.3 i have experienced not 1 reboot. Unless i did it myself.
I did notice then before when i did have the reboots (when i manually flashed RUU or just the RADIO file). I had reboots 3 different ways. I would either get a reboot when my phone had been sitting next to me for a while i would notice the white screen and know it was a reboot. Also the 2 other times was backing out of TapaTalk or native browser/dolphin HD.
So i don't know if that is in a way related. I just don't have them anymore.
I noticed that whenever my phone would reboot (on the leaked radio only,) I had a weak 3g signal. I watched this happen several times. My guess would be the people who aren't having reboots are in an area where they constantly have a good signal. Can anyone else corroborate this?

This is a possibility... But if that's the case this will be the first Android device I've owned that has rebooted itself randomly due to GPS. Even the Samsung Vibrant, which had horrible GPS right out of the box, didn't reboot itself when it was turned on...
However, if this is the case, why has this only become a recent issue.. now my memory isn't so good... But I don't remember seeing much about this issue on rom threads until recently... I.e the past few weeks... Neither my wife's nor my phone randomly rebooted until just a few weeks ago, and we both have our GPS turned on everyday, all day...

This as well is a possibility... Although I am in an area where 3g is strong... I have seen on my and my wife's phone... Even when standing still... That the 3g icon will vanish and come back seconds later...I am in a decent sized college town, population of about 70000... I couldn't say how strong 3g actually is but its everywhere in the city limits... And most of the countryside...
I have traveled to cities with strong 4g but I didnt stand around long enough in a single place to really watch the phone to see if it was dropping data...
Thanks for the constructive input, everyone... Lets keep the corroboration going and see if we can find a pattern..

Once I went to BAMF 1.5 with new radio and new base no reboot. About a week ago I flashed back to stock radio just to compare after being on the new one for a while. I see nothing different between them really.
ive searched around and google but non that fixed my problem.
started this morning. i don't have any 3g icon or any data connection at all.
did a factory reset, no luck. battery pull, no luck.
my wife tbolt works fine with data so i thought it was my sim fried. well i took hers off and installed it on mine no luck. so i put my sim on her tbolt and works great. so could i have a bad data chip or a bad phone? any help would be great..

yes. sorry i should have mentioned that.
rooted running synergy rom. just happened early this morning and wierd part is i can pull the battery and once its rebooted i can see 1x then once 3g pops it disconnects it and all i have is just signal bars no 3g icons or anything.

yea ive tried doing my backup i saved. nothing. i went to gingeritis, still nothing. asop roms nothing. i even when back to unrooted and stock and still nothing so im guessing somehow someway phone eff up. could it be possible having a new radio mess things up? i have the mr3 or whatever they call it nowdays loaded to it. i just can't think of what would cause it.

ummm the radio would definitely be more of the problem than the ROM.
First try updating your PRL dial *228 - option 2
If still no luck then I suggest trying a different radio or ask around for similar problems with that radio, maybe someone has a fix.
Flash the OTA MR2 radio.
yea. i went back to stock and s-on and upgraded to the newest software and bam my 3g worked which is weird. but i have one coming on the way so i guess ill just keep this stock till then.
mr3 radio i had it since it came out and never gave me any problems until today. i wonder what happened....
should have tried flashing a different radio see if that helped any... i thought it didn't help any since i reflashed mr3 but damn lol sometimes good ideas always come after youve done it lol. thx guys

installed new update. s-on but the 3g icon disappears after it loads buuut when i click on manual software update the 3g icon pops up and starts download but when i click on browser nothing.whats is up with that.
mobile network on settings says " use phone for data connection when wifi is unavailable" my wifi is off and on my wife says connected instead of what mine says. broken phone but why does manual software update still connects to 3g???
Hey everyone,
I have had the infuse roughly since it was released. Never really had any call isuues or anything. Lately however, about 90% of my calls end up dropping. Also, when i try to end a call, the phone kind of freezes and shows that the call has not ended, but it should have. The phone symbol shows up at the top or the status bar stays green... I have no idea what this could be attributed to. I have used different roms and never had an issue. My most recent rom is the Max Q Rom and everyhing was working fine then after a few weeks this calling and ending calls situation started. Tried reflashing the Rom, but problem is still present, dont really think it is Rom related.
Anyone have any input? I cannot seem to figure it out and my phone as a phone has become virtually unusable...
Thanks for any and all help!

Have never heard of that.... still have you tried a data and cache wipe in cmw? then install a rom on a fresh device? I know you will have to back up all your stuff but may be the answer.
Also try another modem may help. Im not sure since ive never experienced that but give it a try.

I can relate. I had the same exact issue a few days ago. I just flashed and didn't look back.. though I probably will eventually. Try Mitra, very good. I loved it. Experimenting with Caty's rom now. Good luck. Wipe/factory reset, wipe dalvik and fix permissions. Then flash. Let it sit for 10-15 before you start using it. Make sure it settles and gets used to, "it's native infuse guts," as EXPERIMENT put it.
I have the strangest issue. I get disconnected from calls in the middle of conversation if I'm using any of these main custom ROMs.
Blaz3r
CyanogenMod 10
Blaze Tweaked ICS 2.2
But If I'm using a stock ICS ROM or "Android ICS 4.0.4 UVLH5 (Posted by tthaz777)" everything is very stable and no disconnects.
I have full bar with all the ROMs and get perfect data speed and everything else works fine. I'm using the same exact apps on the ROMs as I do on the stock, so I don't think it's related to a particular app. It seems as if TMobile scans the sessions at their network level and disconnects the call because my connection is not providing some information/call data they need. The disconnect can happen as fast as a few seconds or after a 10 minutes or so, just random.
Is anyone else experiencing this ?
I'm currently running below and everything is stable with no drop calls. Just can't figure out why this happens when install any other ROM. and Yes I always to do a full wipe before install.
Android ICS 4.0.4 UVLH5 (Posted by tthaz777) with merwin's scorched-kernel-t769-ics v1.0.29
Well the 4.0.4 thazz build should be pretty stable as its essentially stock. That being said my wife (who is INCREDIBLY picky on how her phone functions... I've yet to get her to try something not TW-based) has been using Tweaked since before it was even posted and uses her phone as a phone constantly (... lot's of out-of-state sisters that she's always yapping with) and has yet to report an issue. I am unclear why you would be having these issues with the particular specificity you are experiencing... especially if kernels are remaining consistent across TW-based builds anyway. Without me being able to recreate it on my end or a logcat taken during the premature disconnect on your end I'm at a loss. If nothing else, at least you found something that works for you, so I suppose it a could be worse.
Sorry for the troubles.
Not all stock apps or play store apps work with 4.1, I had the same problem when I let my battery app manage my data. It would wait to connect sometimes up to 20-30 secs later after waking to make a call. Check all your apps your using for compatibility, and when you wake your phone give it a sec before calling out. If your in a bad area the alternating of edge/3g/HSDPA+ doesn't help either. I stopped allowing my battery app data control and that solved 90% of my issues, sometimes it still does it but only when I'm in the boonies.

LOL I am using T-Mobile service with this device, so if that's the case for you I would expect a few drops from time to time
On a serious note, drops can happen with full bars for a variety of reasons. Tower is overloaded (signal shows strong but can't connect/gets dropped), person you have called drops you (calling someone in NY that has AT&T? ), bad/faulty sim card (free to get checked and replaced), etc. No cell phone/ROM is drop call immune, even stock (and yes even those people using Verizon). FWIW, I haven't dropped a single call in over a month using Thomas' PA and Tweaked. That's pretty good considering that's including the holidays and I didn't go home this year.
Thanks for the replies guys. What drives me crazy is that I have absolutely no dropped calls when using the stock ICS ROM, but as soon as I load any of the ICS ROMs mentioned the voice call gets disconnected periodically. Same Location, Same Apps, Same Calling Number, nothing changes except the ROM.
I'm fairly technical and good at troubleshooting but not an expert in reading the Android Logcat and don't know what to look for in the log. I have loaded the UVLH5 radio after flashing the the custom ROMs to see if that might be the cause but same thing.... I wondering if I need to try an older Radio...
Like I said all is running great with Android ICS 4.0.4 UVLH5 (by tthaz777) + merwin's scorched-kernel-t769-ics v1.0.29 OC to 1728 but not knowing what's causing the drops is just driving me crazy....
To test I just load the ROM and then call one of the free news numbers (ABC News etc 650-293-9114) and put the phone on speakerphone, and yes I have tried varies other numbers... JUST WEIRD
Try finding an app of the app store to make logging easier like logcat or something. Then run the app and make a call. If it doesnt disconnect, restart the log. When it does disconnect, end the log and copy+paste it here. That is the only real way to find out whats up.
So the problem started again this AM and it's been fine since I flashed Android ICS 4.0.4 UVLH5 (by tthaz777). I hear the hang up tone and calls would just disconnect in the middle of conversation with perfect signal strength. Nothing new was added to the phone, so only way to fix it was to reflash it again from a nan backup.
This is driving me crazy. Attached is a short logcat from right before the call dropped, could one of you experts check it out and tell me if you see anything strange going on....
Thanks

any chance you can put that on pastebin instead of a pdf? just post a link to it. It could be helpful to a dev as I see that some info is spread out to different pages and is cut off.
Also did you use an existing sim from a previous phone when getting this phone or did you get a brand new sim? I know various issues arise when using an old sim with this phone. My old sim had issues and wouldn't connect to wifi calling and it was only 10 months old.

Here's the pastebin link. Thanks

When I initially had the issue I ordered a new sim hoping it would resolved it and that didn't help, so I flashed ICS 4.0.4 UVLH5 (by tthaz777) which is pretty much the stock with bloatware removed and that resolved the problem and not a single dropped call for a month and it just started again. It's so weird as if Mobile is looking for something in the connection/session and forces a disconnect.

Ordering a new sim doesn't mean getting a compatible sim. Have you taken the phone to a Tmo store and had someone check it out? They could've sent you another partially compatible sim for it. If I knew more about reading the logs I would love to help you out....
