FYI: DSP Manager = Not a solution for low speaker volume - HTC Inspire 4G

Hi, all.
I just wanted to let you know that DSP Manager will not fix the low speaker volume on this device.
I finally managed to install DSP Manager on the rooted stock ROM. Under speaker, DSP Manager didn't display any settings you could change. It worked fine for headsets and bluetooth though.
So, if you are like me trying to find a way to boost the speaker volume, don't waste your time installing DSP Manager.

It works on CM7. I believe there is some kernel integration that helps it, if memory serves.

yeah i think the DSP app needs to use a special kernel (the one which cyanogen ROM uses) to see the effects of DSP doing its magic. running it on a stock rooted ROM wont do anything.

Overdriving the speakerphone

Some Aria users report low in-call & speakerphone volume. I personally keep my volume at max, use CM's DSP manager to boost the speaker volume maximally, and press the phone hard against my ear. Even with the windows up, the sound of the car is enough to make it very hard to hear.
I have to believe there is a way to overdrive the speaker... at least for me, even w/maximal volume settings, there is no crackle. It's as if the speakerphone is barely utilized.
On XDA I've found two relevant threads: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15406689 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15406735

First, you have to disable or uninstall DSP manager, they don't get along well.
Just in case, I'm attaching his app (unzip the file, the apk is inside) for you to install with your favorite file manager. Enjoy your new sound boost!
I just wish they would open up earpiece volume, since it is horrendously low on the Aria. I'm not sure if it's CM or what but it is too quiet on city streets.
At least now I'll hear when someone calls though, instead of finding out an hour later that my pocket silenced it.
There are 2 different sense Rom ports by drowning child that have way louder in call volume.so to me it would seem that there would have to be a way to increase the cm7 volume in the rom itself.

Funny you should mention that because it was the first thing I noticed after installing Pico

Wow, finally a nice piece of app that does Sound Widening properly. I think I could start to forget my previous Nokia phone over that aspect now. Thanks!
But yes, regrettably earpiece volume is still too low.
Cool app, my speaker crackles if any louder though, so I think I'll skip it as I would really like to keep the external speaker in tact.

I don't know what I am doing wrong here. I have downloaded this apk and installed it several times via clockworkmod, but there is no app to run on the phone after installing, nothing in sound settings to change. Please advise. Thanks!
I am running hoxnet_liberated_rc1 ROM with ClockworkMod 2.5.0.7. I don't believe that there is any DSP manager to disable in the this ROM.

The app is an apk that you have to install just like any other app and not in recovery. I also believe that it is designed for gingerbread roms. The rom you are running doesn't sound like a gingerbread rom to me.

Static sound after playing music on speakers

After playing music on speakers, and sometimes after disconnecting the headphones, I can hear a static sound coming out from the speakers. I don't know if it's a dsp manager problem or just a rom problem. Somebody with same problem? It's normal this sound to be heared for some seconds after stopping music, but not all day.
This drinks the battery very very fast.
I've kph with cranium rom.
I'm using the xxkph + cranium ROM 3.1(fix). Until now, i did not face such problem that you have. Been playing music through speakers and headphones, playing videos. No static sound. Afraid you left some steps before fully installing the custom room or cf-root.
Are you sure? Do you use the dsp manager?
Play some music on your speakers and when pausing it put your ear very close te the speaker and tell me if you don't hear it please.
I moved from froyo to xxkpm based custom rom & had this problem, found the source of the problem to be dsp manager so removed it & sound was gone. It sounded like ta, tich, ta....ta..tich. It was annoying when sitting in silent area, 1st noticed while sleeping something was making sound but could not figure out what next day I found out that speaker remains ON even when phone is not in use & it makes this funny sound.
I will flash back stock rom & test if this is indeed a problem with stock rom or custom rom.
Yes, I have the same sound. I will try removing DSP Manager. What a shame, DSP Manager is quite good, do anybody know something like it? I have PowerAMP but it has just a equalizer.

[Q] DSP manager along with vodoo control?

simple question: Is it OK to have the DSP manager along with the vodoo app or will there be any conflicts then? I am asking because both apps seem to post process the audio but I really would like to adjust the sound via the dsp manager's equalizer since vodoo has none.
I am on CM9 alpha, and it comes with DSP Manager. I also have Voodoo installed, and so far I've been using just the DSP Manager app, and it doesn't seem to be interfering. Working ok
DSP Manager does equalizing and Voodoo control messes with your phone's amplifier. So it goes like this:
Voodoo changes hardware settings, DSP stays inside android. There should be no problems.
thank you for your replies, I just was confused by the fact that both apps let you enable bass boosters

[Q] Increase mic volume in cm7?

hi all,
on my p500 now i'm using cm9.1.1 final by hephappy and mic volume is ok only calling with headphones, it's low calling without headphones.
i want use cm7 but, nightlies or stable, custom or default kernels, with or without headphones, my mic volume is ever too low in incoming/outgoing calls. i'm looking for fix it someway, but i didn't find how anywhere. i only found an app on google play that fix mic volume on hd2 devices with a custom kernel that support mic levels, but nothing about p500
does anybody has an idea to help me? each way is welcome, i can try everything!!
the mic issue is the only reason i can't use cm7 (or cm9 without headphones xD), the best rom for p500 in my honest opinion.
thanks in advance for answers and ideas!
PS: i have the mic volume issue only with phone calls, all multimedia apps are ok.
lol 89 views and 0 replies (except this one)... i'm not alone! xD thanks anyway
volume+
Try to increase the volume by using the "volume+" app
you may have problems with using DSP manager
I use GingerDX (2.3.7) V29 rom and I had to uninstall DSP Manager.
Now everything works fine, Volume+ runs on JB.
Sorry for my english, I'm Polish and I left a couple of English lessons

Viper4Android - does anyone have it working on CM11S?

I recently received my OPO and loaded V4A on it done the BT output is low, similar to my N5.
I've found that you seemingly can't change the EQ under Sound -> Music Settings like on the N5. I saw mention of the DSP Manager apk and freezing it, but I don't see one under /system/app/ or /system/app-priv/
Am I missing something support obvious, or can you just not change the Music Effects on CM11S?
I'd rather not have to flash another ROM since I'm quite happy with everything else for the most part.

DSP Manager is not included in 11S. Its AudioFX in 11S.
Viper4android works fine.
Working just fine here OP.
BT, Headphones and Speaker are working great.
I used to use Viper4Android for about a week but after flashing volume boost mod which in this link OMG! I uninstall Viper4android and just sticked to the Mod that I flashed along with the stock AudioFX And the Sound now on my OPO is Blazin [emoji106] take it from someone who can't listen to his music unless it's Super clear n bassy too [emoji4]
