[Q] Fring not working on defy - Defy Android Development

Hi There,
Currently using 117 ROM and all the necessary applications are smooth running, other than fring.
I tried a Fringout call. The receiver is not able to hear me.
Anyone solution, to fix this problem. Many thanks.

Checked your router?
Had the same problem with my Defy. Everything running great except for SIP-Software. Tried fring, sipdroid and some of its clones with the -117 ROM.
Finally i found out that my router was forwarding port 5060 to my PC.
After releasing port 5060 in the router and reconnecting my Defy to my SIP-provider (sipgate.de) it is working fine.

Hi...Thanks for the quick reply.
Now, I tried the following:
a) Released the port , still not working
b) Also tried with 3G connection, still no luck.
When I do a fring test call, I am able to hear the fring test voice and after I record the test message, during playback I am not able to hear anything.
Any suggestions. Thanks.

I had the same problem on the original firmware 2.21
later I updated fring and it worked, but eventually stoped working again... I'm not sure if this helps...

Try Csipsimple - actually better than sip droid and I found it after giving up on fring.
Seems to work for me but a little bit of a battery hog.

fring doesn't work with defy

Problems with MSN when using Internet Sharing

Probably something stupid...I don't know.
When I use my Diamond as a modem using "internet sharing" I can only connect to MSN 1% of the time.
The internet, email,,,,everything really, works fine.
When I connect my laptop to a "proper" connection all service work 100%.
Any ideas?
Cheers.

You mean MSN on the laptop? Strange, it has always worked with me. And should work: as has been explained in my dedicated Bible, the notebook has full port forwarding.
Nevertheless, if you can't get rid of this issue, consider hacking the traditional DUN on your Diamond - or, if there already is a cooked ROM with DUN, try giving it a try. See my Bible for more info.
NOTE that the above only applies to trying to access MSN on the desktop, NOT the phone itself.
Thanks for the reply.
Yes MSN on the laptop. All the features work fine on the Diamond fine (including MSN) All of the features (when connected to WIFI or RJ45) work fine on the laptop, it's just wheb I use the Diamond as a modem the laptop MSN fails.
No firewall on either device.
I'll have a read of your bible and see if it sheds any light.
P.s.
When I used my Kaiser with the same setup, everything worked fine.

dunno why the Diamond is messing up things - must be a bug with your ROM version. Look for a DUN-based hack.

Cisco CallManager??

Hey everyone just wondering if anyone knew of a way to use a WM6 device to a Cisco CallManager as an extension on the system?
-=*)RADAR(*=-
YUP,
I'm curious about this too!
Anyone no how to do this?
This may not be what you're asking, but is the Cisco CallManager the "soft phone" app for their Internet phone? If so, I use the Plantronics PersonoCall (free) app. They have a personal and an enterprise version, but they both seem to work the same.
With a Plantronics multipoint BT headset like the 510 or 615 and the BUA100 BT dongle, answering or making a call on either is seamless, the headset switches back and forth between my PPC-6800 and the soft phone without doing anything on the headset.
I've tried this program with other headsets and dongles, but none work as well as this combination.
Well lemme go into more detail here:
I run a cisco voip network both at home & at work. I would like to use my mobile phone (kaiser aka tilt running Death4 ROM) over WiFi and have it become basically an "extension" on the system. Configuring things on both ends is not a problem since I'm the network admin. Just wasnt sure what software I needed on the windows mobile side, or if it was even possible!
I'm going to look into this software further, thanx for the reply either way!

I did find a software that I have already tested (as of right now) that works perfectly!
hxxp://www.ipblue.com/products_vtgo_ppc.asp
Very minimal setup, and pretty robust!

I don't know what version of Call Manager you are running (Call Manager Express, UC500 or Call Manager Appliance). You can do what you want from your kaiser installing in it a Softphone that uses SIP or Skinny (I don't know if exists). On the other hand, you have to have a VPN client in your kaiser installed because remember Cisco sees the extensions as a MAC Address, and you have "to be" inside your netkork. So, raise up a VPN tunnel against your work or home, take an IP Address from there and your SIP phone is gonna log into your call manager as if you was inside your office.
What's the problem I have? I'm know using Kaiser or Windows Mobile device and I don't know any softphone. I don't know what to use. I want to know if exists any free software but I also want to know which ones are paid.
Good Luck.
Guido.

HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing - doesn't work?

Hi,
Now that I've unlocked my TG01, I was hoping to use my data SIM in it and convert it to a MiFi, one of those portable WiFi access points.
I have tried HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing which installs fine on the phone. It also seems to run and looks like it has set up an ad-hoc network.
However, there are a few problems:
The WiFi does not automatically turn on when you launch the program.
None of my WiFi enabled devices (PCs, phones, internet tablets) can 'see' the WiFi access point.
I'm just wondering whether this is because the program isn't really working, or has something to do with my other devices.
Anyone have success with this program?

on my TG01 work fine! i have in all my cooked ROM´s this suite
AL_CommManager_Suite_with_WifiSharing_1_1.cab
you can test my ROM or install this cab. to work on TG01 you need this Reg change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN]
"DeviceName"="{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\\AR6K_SD1"

Miro im using your ROM release but for the life of me cant get the wifi sharing to work, well it works and it doesnt. I can see the connection on my laptop and i've managed to connect only the internet doesnt work and it says 'identifying ... no internet access' ? This is under Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Any ideas ?
i´m now in this moment take wifi router from my TG01 to connect the internet with my Win7 32bit Laptop. i think the problem is not TG01- the Problem is you network/firewall settings
best internet sharing you have in marketplace for free, work veary good. sorry for my bad eanglish
I've only just got the htc wifi sharing app to work properly, but if you ask me its not so great. The reason why i struggled so much to get it to work in the past is that you have to keep resetting your data conection until suddenly it works ? Even then i find it goes off every 10 mins so your constantly turning your data connection on and off which isnt very convenient. I suppose its nice to be able to set up wifi as a hotspot but for me i just cant use it ...
Instead i've started using the usb method with the windows internet sharing app, this never resets and is a proper solid and stable connection. I've even bridged it to the ps3 and managed to play online games with it. The only issue of course is the NAT type, for any sort of gaming to work you need port forwarding at the very least and since were only getting nat type 3 theres quite a few issues.
I have found a nice app called ICS Control which claims to be able to manage ports, etc but i havent quite figured out how it works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377047 Any ideas ?

i already used that reg tweak on the comm manager from your ROM thanks anyway. the phone switch, bluetooth, or WiFi switch do nothing.g when i press them. so idecided to install another comm mnager (htc) it works but i cannot use the WiFi router function :/
Thanks anyway!
Not sure why the wifi comm manager isnt working for you but id recommend trying miro's rom, the one which allows you to switch between sense, spb, and windows default. This is the only rom i've managed to get wifi sharing working on so id really recommend you try miro's rom .
On another subject, i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to share my tg01's internet connection to the pc but give it a static ip address. The problem with sharing without a static ip is certain sites recognise your ip has changed and log you out. Lets say i've wrote a huge message on and my ip changes, i click submit and that message is lost for good ! Its getting quite annoying since this constantly happens on ebay and pretty much any site that requires a log in, i've had to start copying and pasting my text just in case.

add skype to android set top box

I am thinking of purchasing one of these a XIOS DS HD Wi-Fi Media Player which runs ICS. I was curious to know if I could get skype working on this device with an external camera. I tried searching the forum with no luck.
I've been searching myself and don't think anyone's made a webcam driver yet, but you can connect a WiFi IP Camera or another Android running an App like IP Webcam, but I never tried yet to see if Skype can use the external camera.

Cannot connect to SIP Servers when on WiFi. When on LTE, there are

Hello I have the Pixel. My company makes a Video Chat app which uses a SIP Server for video calling. When I try to connect to the SIP Server, I am unable to connect (it just times out). This is if I am connected to WiFi. If I turn WiFi off and am connected to LTE, then I can connect to the SIP Server no problem. I tried other devices at my office on the same WiFi and they all work fine when connected to WiFi or LTE. I then tried two other WiFi networks and have the same issue (cannot connect to SIP Server). I then downloaded a different VoIP app (Bria) and put my SIP info in. Same problem. On WiFi i cannot connect, but on LTE it works fine. My LTE is Verizon, so I tried connecting via a Verizon Hotspot. My phone is connecting to that via WiFi, and I still have the same issue, cannot connect to SIP Server. I even tried a couple of different SIP accounts as well and none of it helps. If this phone is connected to WiFi, it CANNOT connect to a SIP Server. I also have a co-worker with a Nexus 6P who has the Android 7.1 Developer Preview, and his phone connects to the SIP server fine on WiFi. So it does not seem to be an Android 7.1 issue. It seems to be related to the Pixel phone itself. Has anyone else been able to setup a VoIP app where you need to connect to a SIP Server and successfully been able to connect to the SIP server when on WiFi?
My phone got the November security update today. And after restarting, SIP calling now works for me in WiFi! Mine is build NDE63X. If you haven't gotten it yet, I suggest giving it a try. You can side load the update via adb.

I spoke too soon on this one. After working for about a day and a half, it stopped connecting to SIP servers when on WiFi. I rebooted my phone though and it started working again. So something triggers it to stop connecting to SIP servers when on wifi but a reboot does make it work again.
I have pixel and Bria. If I restart the phone Bria connects on wifi every time. If I stop then start Bria without phone restart Bria will not connect ever.
Here are a bunch of other links related to this problem. And it's still not fixed as of March security update from yesterday.
