[Q] Recovering from busted CWM install - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

A lot of people (including myself) jumped on the wagon to install CWM when the guide showed up here. This guide as pointed out by Krylon was bumpkis. However alot of folks (including myself) now get the filesystem error everytime we boot into recovery. Any chance that anyone has found a fix?

What we need is the tar file for odin to restore.

[Q] Captivate 2.2 [Official] Lag problems

Just finished installing the official 2.2 release on my Captivate (problem free). Before installing I backed up everything to my SD card via titanium, then removed the lag fix, and did a hard reset / format using the dialer code, verified everything was wiped and all the internal storage was wiped clean (although MCR scripts and superuser didn't go away).
first reaction, THE LAG IS HORRIBLE. hoping it was a result of crapware, I rooted via SuperOneClick, reinstalled Titanium from the market, and removed all the ATT crapware, rebooted, and it is no better.
I've restored my apps and everything except facebook contact syncing seems to be working great, but the lag is awful! often I wait 3, sometimes 5 seconds before a screen click is even recognized.
are there any lag fixes that have been tested on, or at least suggested for the official 2.2 release?

I assume you are referring to the one used on 2.1, I don't remember the name, but it used MCR Scripts and was installed with an update.zip. once installed you ran MCR Scripts and "installed" the lag fix with 2 options, either 512mb or 1gb of space, and a third option to remove the lagfix
I ran the remove option before doing the upgrade

I thought I read that voodoo didn't work with 2.2, only 2.2.1
I'm running stock 2.2 with no lag. I formatted my external sd and that fixed my initial lag problem

If i understand you, you had lag problems after upgrading to 2.2, and then resolved them by formatting the external (removable) sd card?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I just upgraded and it seems very snappy to me. It's not my everyday phone anymore so I don't have a SIM or external SD in but from just fooling around with it for about a half hour it moves nicely! About to root now and remove the bloatware

That was solved months ago. Go to the dev section, download the 5.x voodoo + stock KB1 kernel odin file, and flash it on. Phone will take a while to boot back up, but will tell you it is converting partitions to ext4. Once it comes back, you will see the amazing speedup from getting rid of the piece of **** known as RFS.
Is there anyway I can get lagfix by itself? I have no computer so id just like to download to phone, put in root and goto recovery mode.

If its that much of a lag, then something didn't load right. I'm on stock 2.2 wirth no lag. Its just about as fast as oclf. But, if you read the [official] froyo update thread, people kind brush on what ideas to try. Most of them say, like I said, something want loaded right. Good luck.

No ones answering because a search with one word gives him the info he needs. He just refuses to read and wants the info handed to him on a silver platter.

downloaded it
renamed it
put it in /sdcard
rebooted to recovery with CWM clicked reinstall packages
Went through its process and said it failed..could not verify or something. Is this not the way to do it? I did it on 2.1 same way w/eclair approved voodoo and it worked just fine. And I apologize for getting upset its just a little tedious doing all this searching on a small phone screen.

Froyo uses 3e recovery I believe so it will not install any update.zips the only way I know of is using an alternate recovery...a kernel with 2e recovery or going the custom rom route like torch 1.5 or cog 4 in the dev section which use the new froyo
And for your no computer issue...i suggest you find mcdonalds or a neighbor and use the wifi and download one of those custom roms directly to your phone that have a lagfix included with root and no bloat. I do this all the time when I am in the field. Just some suggestions I hole they help and I understand your frustration.

Mobile hotspot on stock AT&T Froyo

Hello, I am running the stock Froyo 2.2 offered by AT&T and wanted to know how to get rid of the Mobile AP hotspot plan that is blocking me from using my phone as an hot spot. I have used custom ROMs and they all had this feature how do I get it to work on a stock rooted phone?
Thanks!
Get the free version of Titanium Backup in the Market. Open it, click on "having problems" and it will ask you if you want to intall busybox. Install it. restart Titanium. THen go to restore (at the top) and scroll to tethering manager. uninstall it and you should be able to tether.
Be careful about what you install here though cause you can really mess some things up if you remove the wrong things.
Thanks that worked great! One question, couldn't I just have deleted TetheringManager0114.apk using Root Explorer in system/app? Also, it is working but on the screen it still has a box at the top that says.
A Teathering/Mobile Hotspot plan is required to use this service. Please go to Bla Bla Bla.

I am always reluctant to go directly in to the apps file and start deleting things. I prefer to have a program uninstall something. It may work just the same, I guess it's just a mental thing.
Plus, now with Titanium, you can go delete all the other crap that ATT put in there.

[Q] Deleted efs folder

Well I have a good friend who is not exactly a genius, he thought if he deleted the efs folder, it would let him use the old web2go on his Galaxy 4G... Well now his imei is all 00000's and I can not get anything...phone calls, web...nothing, regardless what I flash it to.....
Is the phone a brick for now or is there a way I can save it??? Im more than willing to buy a beer if anyone can help me fix this....
Thanks in advance
Update: Ok well ive found that If i leave my sim card in for 10 minutes or so it WILL pick up a signal... The internet will work...BUT very slowly, like 2G slow....I can make calls, but when the other person answers they can hear me, but I cant hear them.
Either way, its not a solution to the problem, is there even a possibility to get the imei back without the original folder??
Have you tried flasing a new ROM?

+1 on this. Should set the factory defaults.
Where exactly was this efs folder located?
EDIT
Just looked into this.
/efs is mounted on a whole different partition. You might've just gotten yourself a very expensive paperweight since some of the files contained in that partition are specific to your device (IMEI #'s etc). =|
Check this for reference:

On average it takes about 15-20 mins give or take.well if you do it properly ie flash the correct version of fxz for your phone there are little chances to fail.but if that happens you can always retry.and hardbrick is very unlikely.

I just have to point this out to EVERYONE. This is one reason you do NOT EVER remove busybox. It was not the fact the the hijack was removed, but because busybox links itself to MANY critical "linux" functions, and it does not re-link those back to the motobox (minimal busybox like binary), or rename old bin files if they were there before, so there are things like mount and other functions that do not work properly.
I am not chastizing the OP here, just making a point to everyone about busybox, as this has been mentioned very little in the forums, so I thought this is a good place to point this out and the hazards with removing busybox, it will bootloop you nearly everytime.
It is better to just fxz back to full stock before/instead of removing busybox. Although I am still really not sure why anyone would want to remove busybox at all, it gives you a ton of linux utilities all in one binary and creates links to things like mount, etc.

I totally dis-agree. It does have bearing in here, because if someone does actually do a search for removing busybox on an atrix 2, this will come up. That was really the ONLY reason I put it here. And also the Brick thread is really for bricks, removing busybox is a whole other can of worms. And look I have respect that you have come up lately and taken an active role in here, but don't forget I have been trail blazing on this phone for over a year now, and have been trying to save people from themselves the whole time, so maybe re-read and think about why I did what I did in here. As Jim said, you CANNOT uninstall a Busybox. So its best to take Ti back of your stuff and do a RSD install, then install busybox of your choice.
