clockwork mod recovery - HTC Inspire 4G

Is there any reason why the guy in the you tube video showing how to root with the ace hack kit indicated to use an older version of clockwork mod recovery? I get a message that there is an update everytime I go into ROM manager. Should I update? if so, why and how?
Thanks as always!

If I recall correctly, he states in the video that 3.0 only supports gingerbread.
also I think this should be in general discussion.

Im on 3.x.x.x with no issues.

This should probably be in general. There were issues restoring nandroid backups with latest version of CWM.

When I flashed the newer version of clockworkmod I soft bricked my phone. The older 2.5. 1.3 works great.

i just compiled it from source today so it should be latest give if they updated it today(source is from yesterday)
So how do i go about installing this? install zip from recovery? do i have to do anything such wiping? thanks so much.
Nope, doesn't stick.
"the only good bug is a dead bug"
only way I know is to use unrevoked to change recovery. It involves restoring using the original 2.1 ruu and unrevoking again. DO NOT USE THE 2.2 froyo ruu or you'll never root again.
Before you plug your phone in for unrevoked, start unrevoked and one of the options let you select a custom recovery. Select your custom recovery and then plug your phone into the pc. If you don't do it that way you'll wind up with 2.5 again.
Remember use the original htc rom for the aria. Not the 2.2 rom.
Doesn't 3.x have problems flashing certain things?

Where do you get the source?
cwm 3.0 cannot flash anything that uses amend based update scripts. The must be based on edify. Other than that its fine. And cwm is built everytime you build cm7.
So its completely safe to upgrade?

when can we expect it to be signed cuz i have tried and like the new features and a little change in interface
it doesnt matter if its signed as explained earlier in the thread the only way to have it stick is to restore your phone to stock unrooted 2.1(NOT 2.2) and use unrevoked with an alternate recovery.img

Yes, 3.x zips must use the new edify method. The old update script method does not work.
i just felt like building a newer clockworkmod for our device instead of having an old one

[Q] updating clockworkmod recovery

Hello All. Is there some way to update clockwork mod recovery? I have an older version 3.something and i know there is a new version 5.something. I can log into the 5.something version with rom manager but I would like to be able to go directly into it. When i hold down power + vol down i go to 3.something even though my rom manager is updated to 5.something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

would you happen to have the link for the new one? the only ones i could find are part of the super one click which contains 3.something. also i tried flashing the one from ROM manager but it doesn't seem to overwrite the current version. I can only get into the new version via rom manager..which doesn't help if i need to restore or do backups of newer cyanogenmods.

[Q] Stuck in cyanogen mod! no recovery! No wifi! HELP!

Hey guys, i have a motorolla droid 3. xt862. I am running cyanogen mod 7 and it is rooted. i flashed the Blur_Version.5.6.890.XT862.Verizon.en.US file using stock recovery and now the droid 3 bootstrap is gone and wifi wont work. im stuck with cm7 which doesnt work. I would just like to go back to the way it was when i got it stock rom and everything. I have no interest in custom roms because absolutely nothing works and it is all very buggy. Please i need help urgently! i hope im not stuck
is there anyway to go back to gingerbread 2.3.4? i can't seem to get rid of cyanogen mod 7 because i have no bootstrap and i can't install it again.
It sounds like you did an RUU? ? ?
That should have gotten you back to stock. Basically you need to get a working RUU version, of the latest OTA and run that. Or get a rooted stock rom.

There's not 1 out there that's not buggy.. what are some good hacks/mods for the droid 3? I've heard of ubuntu for android from there website but its still in development

[ROOT] Straight Talk: Samsung Galaxy Centura

It's been successfully rooted with POOT.
It has also been rooted via CWM by Area51 Here for CWM and then Here for Root! I did find some ROM development going on at Area51 as well here. Area51's CWM does not appear to play nice with any phone rooted with Poot however so it's best to install CWM from Area51 first and then use their root method.

The root method used at A51 is out-of-date, and can't be updated. Therefore, you'll continuously receive an update notification and won't be able to stop it.

Not True! All you have to do is just not install the update when it boots you into CWM. This will be fixed when they complete the ROM they're working on. I don't get update reminders after accepting the first one and just not installing it once in recovery mode at the install screen!

You might want to wait for Area51 to complete their first ROM for the phone. Currently it has an annoying update that keeps trying to install over the rooted stock OS that will break root if you install it. Of course you can just keep clicking on accept and then selecting NO when you get to the install update screen in CWM like I do, but it's an annoyance.

Is there any roms for the Samsung Galaxy Centura on StraightTalk that is Android version 4.1, 4.2 or above?
Not yet. Something that Samsung broke in the kernel is preventing the ROMs from booting up.

Did you rename the backup? If it has spaces, it will cause that error.
