Screen problem (video included) - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi guys, hope someone can tell what is exactly with my phone/display.
Long story short – phone fell directly on display, absolutely perfect landing without any rebound, display went nut. Dropped it on back, fixed the problem.
4 days later, display went crazy again and remains broken.
Symptoms: black, grey, coloured lines.
What I can say from usage – they react more on dark colours. If I’m in white background, everything is absolutely fine, sometimes some line appear. As soon as it comes to grey or black, they go wild. They like move for second or two, and then settle, as you can see in the video.

LONG STORY LONG
Seven days ago, it dropped from 1 meter height, and it landed on it’s display, so directly it didn’t bounce not a tiny bit, it just got like glued to the surface. The same moment I knew it’s not good, and I was right.
Display couldn’t get out of sleep mode, when I presed power button I only got a bit of visibility, I could see start button, but if turned it on/off (sleep/wake up) couple of times, display would have normal brightnes… BUT, there were some dark dynamic lines over the screen, as soon as pic moved, they would appear, on static pic, only few would remain. Numerous resets didn’t bring any results, keeping it off without battery, no results either…
Frustrated (It has been like month or two since I’ve got this device), I decided to give a try to traditional Serbian method – hit the electronic device to get it working. I included some brains, so I dropped phone, on the other side (on the back), from some 30 cm height. It worked like a charm! Everything worked absolutely fine!
I could only think of situation that some display contacts must have pulled out a bit, so hitting it back, made them get back into their slots.
And everything was like before… at least for 4 days 
Then, without any trigger event, lines came back, and they’re here to stay!
Hard reset, nope. Reset, nope. Dropping it on the back, nope.
What I can say from usage – they react more on dark colors. If I’m in white background, everything is absolutely fine, sometimes some line appear. As soon as it comes to gray or black, they go wild. They like move for second or two, and then settle, as you can see in the video.
There is no one here to make good diagnostics, HTC is like white raven in my country, so can anyone suggest what to do, get new flex cable, get new display?
I am considering opttion to open it up myself, and check are all connectors firmly in place.
Your suggestions?

If anyone experiences anything similar - just reset the flex (flat) cable, everything will be like new

Problem with my Display or the phone software?

Hello,
I have a very strange problem with my HTC Touch Pro phone.
I'll explain my problem:
When you turn on your phone and you are on the "Home page" (the page where the time is displayed) there is a bar at the bottom of the display.
This bar says Phone and Programs.
When i access my volume control by using the 2 buttons on the left side of the phone a black screen appears with some bars on it to indicate the volume. Note that the black bar with the Phone and Programs buttons is gone!
But the problem is that i can slightly see the Phone and Programs text trough the black screen of the volume control...
The first time i turned on my phone it was clearly visible, but after hard-resetting my phone 3 times it seems to be all gone now.
What could have caused this problem? Are these texts burned into my screen or is my screen sensetive to white letters?
I really dont know what to think about it because it seems very strange to me that it is now gone after 3 hard-resets...
Does anyone know what may have caused this problem?
edit
When i still had the problem i checked out if the text that was visible on the volume screen was the actual text that should stand in the black bar on the bottom, but when i accessed the volume control from the Programs tab (notice that the menu bar then displays "All programs" and "Remove"), but the volume controll still displayed Phone and Programs, so it isn't the actual text that is visible, so it cant be something like a shine-trough or something like that.
Really dont know what to think, at this time 3x hard-resetting the phone helped and the texts aren't visible anymore, but i'm still worried that my screen is over-sensitive or maybe broken or something =\
edit
The text is getting visible again after having my phone on "stand by" for 10 minutes.
Does anyone has a solution or does anyone knows what the problem can be? i would like a awnser today because i could go the the store tomorrow, i may be able to switch it for a new one if the screen is really broken.
Hope someone knows more!
edit
Maybe some of you dont see it on your one Touch pro, but you will if you REALLY look close at the bottom left and right corner in your volume control screen.
Could it have something to do with lazy pixels or something?
edit
It seems to get worse when i have the phone and programs texts on my screen for 10 minutes, and then switch to volume management. Are my pixels lazy or something?
The longer the screen stays on with the Phone and Programs texts on and the icons of the menu etc, the more you see when you turn on volume control.
it just looks like it burns into my screen.
Take care! Maybe it burned into your eyes!
No, serious it cannot burn into your screen.
Only CRT screens can burn it, not TFT.
Hmm ok thats true haha,
But what else can cause such a problem... it is only visible if the phone is off stand by for a few minutes.
I had my phone on stand by the rest of this evening and just turned it on and now it is all gone again. But if i put my phone on the home screen for a few minutes, so with the texts, then its visible again on the volume controll screen
Had the phone on standby the whole night and now the texts are gone again.
They seem to get "burned" in somehow if the phone is off standby for a few minutes, but then when its on standby for a while they are gone again.
Just wanna know if more people have the same problem, or else i could send back my phone to HTC for a repair

Well that seems to be the problem over here...
But when i turned on the phone for the first time there was much more "image burning" on the screen, and at this moment it is all gone ...
Could it be that the screen had to "warm up" or something because the phone is just 2 days old. The longer i used the phone the less the image burning is now.
Do these screens have to warm up or something when you turn on the phone the first time?
They shouldn't... Especially if you bought it locally, I'd take the safe road and return it. I'm not sure if it's exactly what that source describes, but I don't like taking chances with phones as expensive as this.
Hmm ok, thats wierd because the more i used it the less burned in texts are visible.
at this point there is nothing visible on my screen anymore ..
isnt there ANYONE else here that has the same problem or that wants to try it out and leave the phone off standby for some time ?
Someone that has the same problem, or someone who wants to check their phone for the same problem?
I dont know if i should return my phone for a repair..
Problem is getting visibl again,
Have used my phone some time today, but i didnt have it off standby for longer than 1 minute, and still there is a white bar slightly visible on the volume controll screen.
This is definately a problem with the screen right? something like Lazy pixels or something..
Anyone that can help?
btw, its seems that only the white colors get burned in
edit
It only seems to get "Burned" in when i'm in a window with white bars or spaces, and it fades when i have the phone on a black screen for a while..
And it only happens with the HTC Volume app?
no, but its good visible on that screen, its also slightly visible on the home screen etc..
It doesn't only burn in when the phone is off standby, but it also seems to get worse when the phone is ON standby... what i mean is that it doesn't fade away right away when the phone is on standby...
Just went back to the store to get a new phone.
I checked right away if the new phone also has the same problem, and it does...
texts also seem to get burned in for a while on this new phone, but also dissapear when the phone is unused for a while...
Could you guys check your phone's if you have the same problem?
Just use it for a while and check the volume control window if there are images still slightly visible on the screen.
Hope someone can do that for me!
edit.
Could i be SO unlucky that i have had 2 phone's of 1 wrong production serie?
Can anyone please check out their phone for the same problem?
I would like to know if there are more people experiencing this problem so that i dont have to return my phone for the 4th time =)
also i have spotted this problem. but it happened just a few times when the phone was hot (using gps).
Mmm ok, and you had the problem the exact same as me ? visible on the volume control screen etc?
More people having this problem?
Would appriciate it if some more of you could check it out for me
It never happened on my Fuze, I think it might be a bad batch that your store got in. That could be why when you returned it you're seeing the same things, a lot of people with yellow spots in their screen returned theirs and got the same thing in the next one.

AT&T Fuze screen issue - bottom menu-area of screen is flickering almost constantly

AT&T Fuze screen issue - bottom menu-area of screen is flickering almost constantly
(Forgive me for the length of this post. I am just trying to provide as much information as possible! If anyone has encountered this same or similar issue, your help is greatly appreciated).
I need help! (professional and otherwise) ...with my AT&T Fuze (rebranded Touch Pro).
I am developing a game for Windows Mobile called Scrobble (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3206316&posted=1), and I left it running overnight.
My screen is set to turn off after 1 minute, and my device set to sleep after 5 minutes when plugged in to external power.
I had the Fuze plugged into wall outlet power to recharge. I left it lying, like I always do, face down on a black soft-leather CD case (so the glowing charging light doesn't bother me).
I left it alone for the 7.5 or so hours I was asleep. When I woke up in the morning and picked it up, the screen was on. It usually is not on, and I don't think I pressed the button to activate the screen.
When I looked at the screen, the Scrobble program was still running, and the bottom menu portion of the screen was flickering. Scrobble has two menu buttons at the bottom -- "Turn" and "Game" -- with a SIP keyboard icon in between them (same as nearly all WM apps).
In any other program, or the Today screen, the menu portion of the screen flickers (the brightness constantly and rapidly fluctuates consistently... like a fluorescent light that is on its last leg).
I did a full power off and power on, and during the "world phone" screen and the the AT&T 3G "power up" animation, the flicker was -not- there. But as soon the Windows Mobile loading/splash screen appeared, the flicker returned, in the exact same spot.
And I can see the ghost "Turn -- [SIP] -- Game" menu in the flicker. But I don't think it's burnt into the display, because it's not there during the first two loading/splash screens.
Currently I have the battery completely removed from the device and will leave it out for a while. If that doesn't work I will do a hard reset.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! (This device is about 2 months old -- does HTC provide any support for it directly?).
Fixed
Phew! My screen flicker issue is no more.
I'm not sure if it's because I took the battery out and let it sit and think about what it had done for ~22 hours, or if it's because it just went away after a while (with the battery out for 22hrs). But either way, my Fuze is back to normal!
So if anyone leaves theirs on overnight and wakes up in the morning to a flickering ghost of a menu at the bottom, my suggestion is to fully reboot it, then take the battery out and leave it out overnight!
(It's kind of nice going a full day without any phone calls!!).
good for you.. you dont need a new phone giving you damage issues already... glad to hear that its gone
Thanks you for this post. I am going through the same thing with my ATT Fuze. This time it is Tomtom that I left running overnight with the screen turning on and off. I can add that the flicker and ghost is there the second the phone powers on. I have already hard reset and took the battery out for a few mins, but the flickering still there. Now I will take the battery out for several hours and hopefully it will be normal again.
I had a similar issue this week. I was using the phone all day, getting emails and phone calls, no problems. I get home and go to charge my phone and it doesn't appear to be charging. I flip on the screen and the whole screen is flickering on and off like it's not getting enough power. I charged the device over night, hard reset, pulled battery for 24 hours and still it won't go away. I just got the device thru amazon so I already reordered a replacement.
I've never left my screen on for hours at a time and I sometimes run into that same issue. The bottom of the screen flickers, and I can see a ghost image of my left and right soft keys when doing things that pull up a dark grey or black screen, like adjusting the volume. I usually try a few soft resets, and if that doesn't work I turn it off and take the battery out for a while. From what I am reading it seems to be correlated with extended periods of screen usage, but my screen has rarely been kept on for more than 30 minutes at a time.
Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but I was just having the same problem with my Fuze: the bottom quarter of the screen was flickering, but without the ghosting you spoke of. Out of curiosity, I went into my "Power Settings" menu, and for some reason the "auto adjust backlight" was unchecked, and the brightness settings were maxed out. I checked "auto adjust backlight" and the flickering stopped. Not sure why, but thought I'd add it to the thread.

Yeah I did notice that it's only really noticeable when the screen is set to max brightness. Setting it on auto adjust cleared it up for me also.

thx guys...helped me out too...
Just sent my unit in for repair (under warrenty) due to the screen flicker issue, lets see what happens when it comes back.
I just started to experience the flicker today. Has be somewhat concerned. The device is only two weeks old.
However, it seems to have stopped by itself while I was searching the forums for an answer. If it returns, I'll try the 'remove battery' method and see if that helps.
Also, I love Scrobble! Shame it doesn't work on QVGA displays. Or, at least, didn't on my Wizard...

Hey guys there's a thread with the same exact issue and a screenshot on the first post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=535099
Seems to be something related to the Hardware 3D Acceleration driver for Windows Mobile, I get this problem only once 3d has been activated.
If Sense/TF3D is turned off, I never see this problem. It only comes up once a game or Sense has been launched.
I can also boot into Android without 3D activated and not have this problem, but if I run Sense then go into Android I get the flicker from a Windows Mobile screen while in Android.
protwitness: That doesn't seem to be the case (for me, at least.) I don't run TF3D and it still happens. I can't really discern what the trigger is, but I have a feeling it has something to do with the screen brightness auto adjustment. (Sometimes, I'll turn my phone on when it's dark and it jumps to full day-light brightness for some reason.)
I've adjusted to it and it doesn't really bother me any more.

Device dead after auto suspend while playing a game

Hello everybody,
I was playing a game on my device, the EM ONE, and I had to leave the game running for a while - it's the Bejeweled 2 game. After a few minutes the device went into suspend mode, switching the screen off.
When I tried to start it again, the screen remained dark at first, then, after 5-7 seconds it started lighting up slowly, like individual pixels were lighting up little by little until they were all lit (like stars appearing in the sky).
However, the screen only lights up to white and nothing else. I tried resetting, switching on/off, eventually I attempted a hard reset. Still the same thing happened - the display would gradually light, and then just stay in white...
time to call the warrenty depo
Yeah, wish I could. Japanese devices don't get support outside Japan.
Anyway, by the looks of it, I am pretty sure it's to do with the nVidia GoForce 5500 chip. I know little about PPC hardware so I don't even know if this chip can be fixed somehow, or the only "cure" is replacing it - in which case it gets all too expensive and pointless.
No idea how, but as I powered the device today to take pictures of it to post in a forum, it powered on perfectly normally.
Played with it for an hour, then shut it down. Trying to power back on in a while resulted in the same blank screen I described above.
While in this state, I launched the TCPMP (with one of the hardware buttons) and it started playing - I could only hear the sound....
EDIT: I found out that if I put the device in the fridge for 20 or so minutes, the display will light up normally and will work until I suspend the device. After that, if it's heated up, that is, more than 10 minutes have passed, it will again show the white blank screen.

[Q] Graphical glitching and static

My friend smashed the screen on his nexus 5 and gave it to some shady repair shop. They replaced his screen (with a white one, on a black phone btw, now it has a white dot on top) and he paid a lot of money for it, but now his display won't work, so he gave it to me to fix, as I have some experience with fixing phones and he has no money left. The repair shop refused to take it back and he doesn't want to start a legal battle. As far as I've tested, the phone shows three behaviours. The first is that the phone boots normally, but without displaying anything. I can still hear it getting notifications and can connect it to a computer, it's just not displaying anything. The second behaviour is identical to the first, except instead of a black screen the phone shows colorful static which seems to correspond to screen-on time (when I lock the phone it goes black and vice versa). The third behaviour, which is the weirdest, is that the display works, but everything displayed is glitching. The google logo maybe has the top 20% moved down a bit, the boot animation may be choppy or distorted, the recovery menu may be divided into blocks which are moved around a bit. In this 'mode', I have never gotten it past the boot animation. The reason I wrote 'may' is because it's different every time, but eventually it always just goes black and stops responding until i disconnect and reconnect the battery.
I opened the phone and fiddled with the connectors a bit and found out that pressing the usb board connector to the mainboard seems to cause the phone to switch between these behaviours. I took a small piece of paper, folded it over a few times and put it on top of the connector and then screwed the cover back on to hold the connector firmly in place. That seemed to put the phone into constant behaviour 3 (graphical glitching).
What could be the problem? I know that the static indicates that the usb board or more probably its connector is faulty, but I'm more concerned about the glitching. It seems to me that the graphical processor is malfunctioning, but I have very little knowledge about graphical processing and displaying so I really don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: the phone just did something weird, when I turned it on it displayed static, but then it started drawing the boot animation slowly from top to bottom. And then proceeded with behaviour 3 as usual, the animation ran at about 3fps and just went blank after 10s.
Okay, I have located the exact location of the fault, the USB board ribbon cable that goes over the battery was bent at a sharp angle and then apparently straightened again. If I press it in that point, the screen switches between static and nothing. I have not been able to recreate the glitching since I cleaned all the parts of the phone with isopropyl alcohol. Still, I'm interested in an explanation to avoid further problems with glitching
now it's behaving even more strangely. When I turn it on, it slowly fades from grey to bright white screen and then goes black and starts blinking a red light. What does this mean? Please help
anyone?

Green Screen?

Hey,
I was replacing my screen, when I went to test it instead of the google logo I got a fully green screen, the phone booted, but continued to be green. The always on display looks exactly as it should. Once it was fully on, I managed to put my pin in blind and the phone all works fine (it seems), and some black gets through, I assume the screen turns off those pixels which is why maybe that shows up correctly(ish).
The interesting thing is, I did at one point have to working fully, full colour, this was between reconnecting the ribbon cable and restarting, but I pressed the power button to sleep it and then hit it again and if I remember correctly was green again. So that made me think "poor connection" of come kind. What's even more strange is that when it is green and I press the power button to sleep and wake, the screen appears at least to display the full colours at the end and begging of their animations respectively. Maybe its not full colour, but at least it's more visible.
The final thing is when I go into the bootloader, sometimes it's full colour, and others it's got the solid green effect where black isn't displayed. What's odd is, even when the bootloader is showing correctly as soon as start is click it goes to a full green screen again and we don't see the logo at all. Also I managed to get into safe mode and it made no difference. It's just odd that it seems to decide to green, rather than due to any cable tussle
Basically has to a cable issue, but I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it, and advice on how to proceed would be much appreciated. Like if the screen arrived faulty, if the connector is damaged in the phone so it can't be used, and the motherboard would need replacing.
Thanks,
Dillon
In recovery mode, there's full colour as well, I factory reset the phone, but it made no impact. However entering into recovery mode did flash the google logo and some of the screen whit, and the same thing happened on reboot from recovery mode.
It seems so odd to have these kind of consistent moments of colour and not colour if it's the ribbon
I should have also mentioned, that the clamp is broken, could that be the issue, does the connection need to be screwed in?
Also Here are some images of both the phones connection and the screens
I'd say jb weld your broken clamp before buying parts. Could be as simple as that it's not a tight enough connection
