[GUIDE] Video Tutorial - Flashing your Milestone XT720 back to stock ROM - Milestone XT720 General

Here you go!
The much requested and highly anticipated video tutorial on how to flash your Milestone XT720 back to a stock 2.1 ROM.
This is a two part tutorial. The first part is explaining how to download & install the necessary three items: The Motorola USB drivers, RSD Lite v4.6, and downloading the stock SBF file. There are links in the video description to obtain these files.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-My3iODE208
The second part is the actual flashing process. During this video, I have flashed my phone back to it's original Cincinnati Bell 2.1 Stock ROM.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA67WaBfGWQ
Note: I used the Cincinnati Bell 2.1 US Stock ROM sbf file. There are other sbf files available, but I do not have links to them. If someone else has links to these, please share them in this thread for the everyone else to benefit from them.
Happy Flashing!

Also wondering if this one will work on EU-based phones, since the blur roms keeps crashing on my G1 (locale errors).

Did you receive this OTA or did you just find the link somewhere? This theoretically should be the same version that is on the Cliq already. We already have a dump from a retail Cliq device and it is incorporated into the S-Blur ROM.

I did learn a better way to do dumps now (that keeps symlinks etc)..but yeah my blur dump was the same as this update.

If you give us a logcat of the issue in the proper thread, we can probably fix it for you. Make sure you follow the proper error reporting format.
We have already had this dump (thanks thedude! You've been a great help) and the s-blur 1.07 incorporates these updates.
i thought we had the pre-release dump, not the official. i must have missed that in my search. ive been waiting for one to build on.... thanks

All the other blur rom's were based on prerelease dumps, but the 1.07.1 in my thread is not.
this isn't an update.zip to be flashed to your phone btw.
It's a SHX file...old school motorola firmware. The modmymoto guys are working on it...and I'm trying out some stuff to see what I can actually do to modify the file.

i just jumped on a friends computer to download this (since i can never access rapidshare through tmo) and saw your post.... Thread bookmarked, please follow up when theres some progress on this. im dying for some official blurness to work with since the only dump ive got is a pre-release with drizzy stains.
My girl just bought a CLIQ and i gota say its pretty cool and the facebook app is 10 times better than the one in Eclair. Its not like a normal face book app there is an app named accounts and you put your email for your facebook account in it and you can have wigets for status updates messages ect. I still cant understand why there is not a single facebook app out right now that can send and recieve messages. Hopfully somone can get the facebook/accounts app from the cliq and deodex it to run on the G1

The source code that was released is not the complete source code. They aren't going to give out their proprietary components. The only source code they released were parts that contained GPL code. Check out the code tree and you'll see what I mean
Does anyone know how to flash this onto a CLIQ? I've been trying to get RSD Lite to see my CLIQ on every mode(BLUR,Recovery,Fastboot ) and I think I know some people that could modify this image...

i posted this in another forum the other day. If you power on the phone with the squares button (menu) held down it will bring up a blue screen at the bottom that says "Bootloader USB Int". When i plug it into the USB on my PC it comes up with a new device "Motorola Flash Interface" I don't know if this is significant to anybody?

Did you rename the file to a short name (less than 8 characters) and put it in C:/UPDATE folder? This will make it work.
hi!
thanks for your help, please see below : (i have posted that also as a new thread) ..
different with their US counterpart, Motorola Milestone UK based is not that easy to modify.
flashing of ROM : RSD Lite can only flash signed ROM to the phone ..
update.zip method : not allowed by BootLoader ..
these are confirmed by Motorola, so those with Motorola Milestone UK based, all the previous methods (SPRecovery, ADBRecovery) of "updating" your phone will not work ..
i cannot post links yet .. but the discussion on this is heating up (in UK) ..
those with US-based Motorola Milestone (Droid) .. you are lucky!!
so - it is just not possible to install SBF that is unsigned for UK based Milestone ..
You can use the official signed version for the Milestone by downloading the official update from the Motorola website.
Full instructions here:
http://www.sigridschrijft.be/index.php/manually-update-your-milestone-to-android-2-1/
hi;
i got this additional instructions :
Flashing notice: It seems that the key to successful recovery flash is to not let the phone to boot to android or recovery until the RSD Lite will signal PASS. When the RSD Lite is restarting the phone during flash, hold the D-Pad Up, so the phone enters the bootloader again immediately.
Flash from Windows XP if you can, RSD Lite likes the XP best.
i will try this out when i have time, and i will inform all of the results.
thanks again for all your help - we will prevail!

[ROM] Official HTC FROYO Android 2.2 FILE for Manual Update via HTC SYNC (OTA file)

UPDATED Aug 19, 2010: New Link, for Mirror to ROM. Original was pulled.
Get it here: http://bit.ly/cIXo91
This thread has been updated with great HOW TO VIDEO by XDA member darren rich who demystified a bunch of elements -- making this user-friendly for people with both UNBRANDED HTC Desire phones (GSM) -- and Branded phones -- which can be converted into unbranded phones first, by using the Goldcard process -- which he discusses.

This thread shows you how to update your HTC Desire GSM phone to Android version 2.2, Froyo, MANUALLY, using a WindowsPC computer, running the application "HTC Sync", connecting to your phone via USB cable. It's for usage if you have not been able to update Over The Air (OTA) -- and will provide you the exact same end result.
This is official HTC Software. This is for UNROOTED phones, phones that have only had official software that was originally installed, or OTA official updates. In other words:

You do not need to root your phone to run an RUU. These are official HTC updates that are designed for recovery or for people who cannot upgrade OTA.

RUU means "Rom Upgrade Utility" -- For unbranded phones, this process is straight forward. However if you have a branded phone, you have to add another step, and it's very important. It's also explained within...
teppic74 said:
Since this RUU is restricted to unbranded phones, you need a "goldcard" to bypass the check if you have a branded phone.

The thread combines (A) information from a previous thread posted by "football" [ROM] RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8 whichincluded the key download link to the primary Froyo file, which was posted by the good people at Shipped-Roms.com, with (B) much clarifying information from Darren and other posters from that thread.
Quick Overview
1. Download 3 files you'll need -- to a Windows machine.
a) "HTC Sync" software that runs on WindowsPCs only. It is the program that puts the initial software on your phone via USB cable.
Get it here: http://www.htc.com/europe/supportDownload.aspx?p_id=312&cat=3&dl_id=933
b) The main ROM -- a .exe file -- located here: (REVISED LINK as of Aug 19, 2010)
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
See that same file in full context here: (Note: Unfortunately, this page, perhaps that whole site, was pulled, Account suspended)
c) The update to the main ROM -- a zip file -- which will be copied to your phone thru USB cable, not executed thru "HTC Sync". It is located here, from HTC's site:
http://liveimage.htc.com/OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8-1.21.405.2_release4dua3bcrut4wrv30.zip
2. Read Darren's Blog Post, it has good instructions.
3. Watch his Video. It's easy. You'll feel ready to go.
More Details - About That ROM:
NOTE: "HTC BRAVO" = "HTC DESIRE" . Bravo was the original codename used by HTC before the Desire was actually released. You can confirm that by looking at the "DEVICE DATABASE" that is linked to from the top of every page on XDA-developers, under the XDA logo. All versions of the HTC Bravo/ Desire.

I apologize; I do not know the answer to this. I posted this information prior to performing this installation on my own DESIRE. I will be doing that tomorrow (Sat Aug 14). The reason I posted it is that the thread it is based upon took 22 posts before it was explained WHAT it was, what it dis, how to do it. I thought it could be useful to re-package the information.
I also posted a disclaimer... But after I perform this update tomorrow, I will come back and reply here and tell you what I have found. I am assuming (but i do not know one way or another) that this will be information listed on the same screen that shows firmware version # ?

Hi, could you explain, if you know, how the two differ, and who should use which? thank you
they don't differ it's your, just made a mirror in case your link dies?
Anybody having issues on the original stock sense unrooted 2.2 ROM? In every Sense 2.2. custom rom I tried I couldn't add more than one gmail account. I then tried unrooting and did the OTA update to 2.2. Same thing, still can't add more than 1 gmail acccount.
So I downgraded and rooted again and tried OpenDesire and could add more gmail accounts without problems. Then I tried a Sense 2.2 custom ROM and again, I coudn't add more than 1 gmail account.
So now I'm thinking to do the unroot with the RUU exe and see if it helps?

but for now, there isn't a 'rooted kernel' for the more recent updates that you got OTA or via Kies.. so check my comment .
about reverting to the older stock rom. You might want to wait for ICS and a rooted kernel before going through the trouble of rooting.
WIth E120K, have you tried using the LTE service already? I am really wondering whether the LTE service work outside of Korea, especially in Australia. thanks
LTE on it works great. Does anyone know if there is a kernel for 4.0.4 for the E120K. I have searched all over the place to no avail.

There you will find all you need including links to Tegrak's recovery and kernel builds for UF29 firmware.
There's no kernel and recovery for the latest -- UK08 firmware (it isn't JB There are a few requests on Tegrak's blog for a kernel and recovery for the UK08 firmware so I doubt we will wait long - Tegrak is always on the ball

Huawei Y7 how to root or extract stock rom?

Hi,
Anyone could guide me further on this one?
Huawei Y7 does not have a custom recovery yet and I'm trying to root this device.
Have tried all the one click root methods but no success.
I'm already unlocked and trying to extract the stock rom.
Has anyone have a working method to extract a stock rom for a Qualcomm MSM8940 Snapdragon 435 device?
Already tried HDD raw copy tool but I'm unable to get the Qualcomm drivers installed so I can see my device in com ports. No luck so far.
So basically 2 questions :
# how to root this device or
# how to extract stock rom without root
Any thoughts or help is much appreciated!
1+
it may not be much help to you but this tool: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146
should find the official stock rom for any huawei device on huaweis official download/ update servers. you just need your exact firmware number from your phones settings.
note: i have not used a rom from here yet, but it seems promising. to find my rom, i had to manually look for it after the search in the base versions section, i found it, but it wasnt appearing in the found firmwares section after the search which i found odd, clearly i didnt use the tool right.. but i found my stock rom of 1.8gb and downloaded it so im happy.
