[REQUEST] 1.80 Inspire based ROM - HTC Inspire 4G

AFAIK, the 1.7x based and 1.84 ROMs aren't the stock AT&T ROM for the US Inspire 4G. The 1.80 ROM is the stock AT&T ROM for the US. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Can someone cook up a US AT&T stock-based ROM with working GPS, Wi-Fi, tethering, HSUPA, Sideloading, and a nice performance boost via overclocking? Android Rev runs off of the 1.72 ROM, and Coredroid runs off of 1.84 which aren't based on the stock AT&T ROM and this cause audio issues. Though there is an ongoing effort to fix the audio for the Inspire 4G running these ROMs, wouldn't it be easier to just base a ROM on the 1.80 AT&T ROM and mod it to what we want?

It would be awesome if mike could cook based on the stock Rom for inspire.

Nice! I went through both root processes....yours and att1's to get used to them. I feel pretty confident in my abilities now to mess with it all. I would have loved to see your ROM with OC added - maybe 1.2GHz and 1.5 or 1.6GHz builds.
But don't take on too much at once man, you don't want to overload yourself. Set a pace and stick to it.

Maybe I will do it

Moved to general as not android development

Hey bubby I love the work you've been doing for the inspire. All of it is much appreciated by this community. I came over from a captivate and was worried about the dev situation for the inspire. As you don't have your own inspire is love to help test anything you come up. Shoot me a PM if you ever need a tester. I'm not too worried about bricking my device lol

That would be nice. I've been using stock rooted rom because of this. With stock rooted I have no issues. I just removed the bloat myself with root explorer. A custom 1.80 based rom would be nice.

[KERNEL] Stock Inspire 4G Kernel

Here's the stock Inspire 4G Kernel You can flash any DesireHD ROM, then flash this on top of the ROM to enable audio.
Basically, I just took the Telus kernel that's floating around here, and replaced the bcm4329.ko and boot.img with the ones from the stock ROM.
Happy flashing!
This is flashable with any desire hd? Does it have clean sound?

You should be able to flash this kernel with any DesireHD ROM. The sound quality is almost the same as the Telus kernel from what I remember.
I think the main problem with sound quality is compatibility between the ROM and the Kernel. Something is missing in the DHD ROMs that slightly degrades sound quality when used on an Inspire 4G. Hopefully someone figures this out soon
Oh ok. So what is gained from this kernel over the TELUS?

Honestly, I have no clue. Some people have said the Telus kernel is unstable for one reason or another so I figured why not just rip the kernel out of the stock ROM It might or might not be more stable
I haven't noticed any instability.

[Q] How to install Cyanogenmod7 on inspire 4g

sorry if there is an exact thread just like this, imagine there is but i wasnt able to find it. i just got my inspire today im familiar with android phones but i know the phone just came out so im wondering if someone can walk me through this, from what i understand ill need to root, flash the cyanogen7 rom then flash a kernel that will allow me to have sound. i was wondering which kernel i would need and what is the easiest root method currently available. thanks for the help guys!!
edit: there is no modified version of this with a different kernel that will allow us to flash the inspire kernel and make sound work??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917271
There is not a CM7 for the Inspire yet. I can't wait until there is tho, I'm not a fan of Sense... but making due for right now.

i thought you could install any desire hd rom, there is a cyanogen7 rom for the hd right here. and just flash a kernel over it to get the audio working. or am i wrong?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917271
cyanogenmod has its own kernel that's made specifically for AOSP. A normal sense kernel will definitely not work for it. It is cool though, I flashed it for a few minutes and it's wayyyy quick with the 1.51ghz kernel they have on there, too bad we don't have source to get sound yet
Yeah just played around with it. Superfast. Love all the gingerbread stuff too. Tried fladhing those kernels the phone wont boot
bump, i see people posting modified versions of cm7 for dhd do they have different kernels that would allow the sound to work on our inspires?

Yes, yes they do.
Check out the android development section. There is a working kernel for sound on CM7 and I'm using it right now.

Best ROM

I'm new to inspire roms. I have rooted my phone with bubbys one click root and I was wondering what the best rom was? Also how do you even flash a rom?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
There honestly isn't a best rom. Every one has their own preference, you will just have to flash them and see which one you like the most.
There is a sticky at the top of this section [guide] check it out.
The one with the bigger gb's
Theres alot of sense ROM and alot of nonsense ROM. Try cm7. IM using that one and its wonderful. To flash you copy the zip file to the root of your sd. Dont extract it. Open up ROM manager and click install from SD. I think it says that. Then check wipe data and it will install and reboot

Xaviier didn't really tell u how. Do a nandroid using rom manager. And I switch between two roms as of now. Coredroid and miui. Coredroid gives a great themed version of gb 2.3.3 (gingerbread) layered with the sense ui. Now I like the stripped rom miui due to pure beauty and interface avaliability. Not di11 and Lee I'm not dissing y'all, yalls roms are next. I simply use a rom and a few updates and allow it to settle in,then switch. I plan to use every rom to experiment speed tests,ui speed, etc. Its up to u to decide which to stick with. Imo flash a rom,fix the settings and customize any way u want. Then do a nandroid (back up using rom manager) and flash another. If a bad flash happens or u don't like the next rom, just restore. Who knows u may love more than 1

Try Ingersoll!
IknowIknow...that's like my goto answer...why not...its my goto ROM.
But seriously...if you want speed, quick response and stability...I recommend Ingersoll or dilligaf's sense ROM...both of those ROMs light up my phone.
It depends what you want in a ROM:
If you like Sense and you want to overclock, then I would go for di11igaf's ROM.
If overclocking is not important, I would go with RCMixHD 5.9 (the gingerbread version).
If Sense is not for you but you're interested in an iPhone(ish) kind of feel or you want to be able easily choose from a heap of themes then give MIUI a try.
If you're after a vanilla android flavour, go for CM7.
I generally go back and forth between RCMixHD and MIUI although I'm trying out CM7 to see what kind of battery life I can get (going camping this weekend).

I can't deicde if I need sense, so I keep flipping between inspired saga and cm7. Currently on cm7. Battery kills, speed kilks. Although the keyboard is small, it flies.

Use SlideIt. Its very good I recommend it
If you don't need Sense, at least try MIUI, if for nothing else than to know what it's like. I've done a lot of the rest, came back to MIUI because it's so damn smooth and crazy fast. It's really outside the rest of the group, but it's CM7 based. Granted, it looks a lot like the iphone at first, but if you add a launcher it's more like you are used to.
That said, if I wasn't using MIUI I'd be using dilligafs, it's pretty slick. Haven't tried coredroid yet.

I meant that even though the keyboard looks small, it is super fast and super accurate. It reminds me of typing on an iPhone 4 which is IMO one of the best touch keyboards in the market.
I also really like the ability to alter the long press duration. I know a lot of keyboards have this feature, but it is really important to me. It makes entering passwords much easier. Currently have mine set to 175ms so I barely have to stop to enter a number.

Dual boot Desire HD/Inspire finally!

I know some people have asked in the past about dual booting roms on the Inspire and was wondering if anyone had tried this yet. I just read it about it on the homepage of xda. I might try this later and finally test out CM7 or MIUI.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1173309
Pretty cool! Personally I don't really have any use for it right now but I'm sure some people will put it to good use. It would be cool if they made a way to be able to use two different kernels though.
I personally don't have a need for it on a phone
Dual booting Windows / Linux, now that's another story.
finally! i remember posting a question on this a while back. and now, its here!!!!

There's a catch. If you want to run a sense and an aosp , then you have to run a sense kernel on VU and miui. And that could cause problems

This...especially if want to rock one Sense and one no Sense.
This is useless to me since you can't use different kernels, props for the dev's tho.... Unless i want one Leedroid for daily and one virtuous for showoff time.. man i was i could rock cm7 and dualboot sense for the camera, etc...
that is pretty cool, have to check it out when i get home.
I can boot AOSP ROMs and sense ROMs . Nandroid backups .
I already said that....Dohh.
Pretty cool but not really something revolutionary.
Props to the Dev though!
I am gonna close this now as there is a thread in Dev. Great work Dev. Hope others can find use for it.

Roms that allow call recording.

I am in serious need of a rom that will allow me to record my calls. I recently (yesterday) was awarded custody of my son. I now have to schedule visitation with his mother and would like to have recorded proof. I will be notifying her at the onset of each call that they will be. These will all be in case she doesn't show for scheduled visitations.l to prove that I have been setting time aside. Please any he'll would be good. My system is a rooted captivate with stock kernal running stock gingerbread minus some bloatware. Ive only wandered across thread discuasing apks and other files that ive no clue about changine to do so. Thanks for any help.

The Firefly ROM can record calls. IMO Firefly was one of the most polished ROMs out there. Unfortunately it is Froyo, but it's still an amazing ROM. Check out this post I made a few months ago about getting call recording to work as well as the whole thread on call recording. Hopefully this helps, good luck.

I'd like to run that as my phone ran better on and came stock with froyo. Once I updated to Ginger it began to suck. Force closes, lagging. It been terrible but I can't upgrade the phone until next year at upgrade time. It has been a great $0.97 phone. I've tried to load roms and it doesn't work. I get some e:signature verification error. What would be the best way to load this rom. I am new to all of this and would love to learn more. However even in the tutorials I run across acronyms I don't know. Could someone please give me the easiest way to load this rom.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA
Two things:
1. If you're having trouble with acronyms, take a look at the "XDA Terms and Acronyms" post. That should help you out.
2. To get around the 3e signature issue, your best bet would be to flash a Froyo kernel with ClockworkMod recovery already included via Odin or Heimdall. I would suggest Onix, as it's a good kernel and I know it works with Firefly from previous experience.
thanks
thanks for the help. it is certainly appreciated. i just flashed the odin kernal. does it matter that the phone is currently running stock gb? also how long does it take to load? i like literally just did it at 10:14pm on wednesday june 20, 2012.
Well I flashed a stock kernal with cwm already inside and was then able to download firefly and flash it. I really like it. Ultra smooth. Much faster than stock gb. Thanks to all who responded. Thanks to all the guys at xda. Y'alls work is great. Too bad they haven't tried updating firefly to gb. I think it'd be great.

Team Phoenix aka The Collective aka The Family did come out with a great GB ROM called Mosaic. While Mosaic is themed blue, it does have a flashable Firefly theme here if you're partial to that.
They also came out with an ICS ROM, Fusion. Unfortunately it doesn't have a Firefly theme but it does have a green theme that looks pretty good as well.
It is important to note that the Firefly ROM is the only one that has call recording. It was never implemented in any of the more recent ROMs. Hopefully this helps.
I like firwfly in that it is quicker than the stock gb and it supports call recording. I needed it at the request of my attorney to record all calls with my sons mom. Id like to get back to a gb based rom that supports call recording. I don't want to try a ics rom until its more stable and safer. Don't want to render my phone useless.

di11igaf's Rom on 2.2.1 also had call-recording. LOVED this rom!!!
Does anyone know why this feature is left out of all recent and current Roms? Currently on an ICS Rom now, and the only thing that I really miss is the call-recording. There is a post about this issue for the SGS II on 2.3.5 & Mod here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1482721.
