[Q] bluetooth mouse and keyboard - G Tablet General

I am interested in using the G Tablet as a thin client computing device. This would give me ultra-portability and all-day battery life. It would allow me to keep my personal life on the tablet and use remote desktop for business stuff. This way personal and business life coexists on the same device without security concerns. This isn't going to work though unless I basically make my tablet into a netbook.
I've done some research on bluetooth devices but don't have a working bluetooth mouse or keyboard yet, which is the reason for my post.
I have a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and so far have not been able to get it working. I tried VEGAn 5.1 and it connects but doesn't pair. I installed BlueInput for Android and couldn't get the mouse working with it either. See teksoftco.com for info on this app. It is supposed to add bluetooth HID support to Android 2.1 or newer.
I don't have a bluetooth keyboard yet - not worried about that until a mouse works.
I ordered a case with built-in USB keyboard and it is adequate. A clip blocks the mini USB port though, so I may do surgery on it to move it down a bit. The case is from witglobal.com.
Any suggestions on what ROM to work with to achieve my goal? Any other info from someone who may have this working?
I don't want to use a bluetooth device with a USB receiver - It'll just get lost or broken and be in the way. I have a dock and I think that is going to work out for my desk - just working on the mobile part.
BTW I really like the 2X Client for remote control. Only thing I am disappointed in so far is the audio doesn't seem to work.
Thanks All!

I have cyanogenmod 6.1 working with a HID mouse - no add-ons. Caveat now is getting the market working. I installed it per wiki instructions but no apps show up...off to more searching!

I use my Zpad (Malata T2) for exactly your purpose.
I guess the Zpad ROM supports this out of the box?? (I'm running the stock ROM).
My mouse is also the Microsoft 5000 Mouse (little white and black one). My keyboard is off ebay, here is the link (except I have the black one):
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/UItra-FLat-B...Peripherals&hash=item255f52af24#ht_3488wt_907
I use Xtralogic (by far the best RDP client)
At saying that it's not 100% perfect. Here is what doesn't work:
Delete Key
Ctrl C or V etc
Right Mouse Button (you can emulate by a long left press)
Mouse Wheel
Some special characters like; < > ^ ~ ` and probably others
Wifi & Bluetooth have issues working together, but 3G and Bluetooth is fine
I'd pay for a driver that fixes this if anyone knows of one.
Cheers, Mal

BT keyboard that works.

I bought this $20 keyboard on eBay and it is working in both webOS and Android. In webOS, the bluetooth "wizard" will display a "key" and you type that "key" on the bt keyboard and press enter. In Android settings, you first type a "key" via the Android "on screen" keyboard and touch OK, and then type the same "key" on the bt keyboard and press enter.
Most bluetooth keyboards and mice are HID compliant so they will work. The Touchpad keyboard loads a generic Microsoft HID driver when I connect it to my laptop.

That's nice to know. I sure wish somebody had assured me of that when I was searching this site for what to buy. Where were you then?

I'm with you. When I tried this forum for what keyboard, I certainly didn't get that reassurance.
Bought it, works great!
I grabbed this exact keyboard to use for longer email and work messages. It paired easily and works wonderfully. My touchpad just got more useful!
I got a different one that works pretty good as well (designed for ipad though) and it only works in the CM9 ICS bricked rom that I have installed, not on webOS or CM7. Is a very nice keyboard + case just faces the same troubles most of these cases do (not latching the separating parts together when closed) but it is very good non the less.. Your post makes it sound like you got the one I linked and you didn't. Don't know why the one you did get doesn't work with CM7 or webOS, but the one I linked does. And it cost less than $20 shipped.
Yea I rephrased my statement, not the best with words sometimes. The case and keyboard I got (mainly got because it had to withstand the kids getting it) is more expensive, but instead of starting a new thread though I would share some experiences with BT keyboard (pros and cons) instead of starting another thread about the one I got.
Yes just about any blueetooth keyboard should work. I got this a couple months ago and it works great, plus has a little joystick for a mouse, which works well in CM7 but even better in ICS.
You can use a mouse on this? Does it display on screen?

In CM7 and CM9 a standard HID bluetooth mouse will work with a cursor, the scroll wheel will also work. I'm not sure if it would work in WebOS.

Yes, there's a cursor that displays on the screen in CM7 or CM9. In webos the mouse just spits out random characters when you try and use it.

i bought this mouse off amazon....it is HID and connects to ics but wen connected i see a cursor for one split second then it disappears and the mouse will not work.if i could get a link to a proper mouse that is proven that would be most helpful. also wen i had cm7 on tp the mouse would connect cursor would show and "work" but was very flighty and unmanageable. would love to find the right mouse for tp so splashtop would be in full effect.

Mouse for the Surface RT

Hi,
I did not see any topic about mouse for the surface rt.
Well, my question is which mouse can i use on my rt without use the USB port.
I know, the microsoft mouse, but 70 euros for this tactical mouse... i think it's a bit expensive for it. does exist any alternantive?
well thank's for any answer
Any standard bluetooth mouse, any standard USB mouse.
Or basically 99.9% of modern mice.
Only reason there is no topic is because it is pretty obvious that x mouse will work. There is nothing special about how windows RT handles mice. Only thing to watch out for are additional device drivers if your mouse has macro buttons etc, but even my RAT5 works fine in standard USB mode, I just dont get to replrogram the macros. WiFi mice are out of the window (and damn rare) because they require special device drivers which you cant install on the RT. Serial mice are also out the window. PS/2 mice can be used with USB adaptors (as can keyboards). Wireless mice with the little USB recievers are fine, bluetooth mice are fine, regular wired USB mice are fine.

thank's for you answer but you don't answer to my question, maybe i dont explain my problem.
i search a wireless mouse to use without any receiver. The official mouse use the Bluetooth, and i did not know that, but now it's ok and i can search a bluethooth mouse ^^
i know that all usb mouse work fine, i use it at the moment ^^
is the bluetooth burn the battery ?
Bluetooth is specifically meant to utilise little power. It will impact your battery life but it shouldn't be massively so. WiFi uses far far more energy, screen brightness would also make a bigger difference to battery life than whether bluetooth is on or off I reckon.
If you want to know how much difference it will make, perhaps see if you can get your phone to pair with the RT and then mess about from there. It wont be a completely realistic test as there will be more data transfer between a mouse (which always sends some data even when not moving, albeit at a slower rate) than a phone which is paired but not doing anything.
You can buy mice which use Bluetooth 4.0, off the top of my head I dont know if the surface RT supports 4.0, if it does I would try to find a 4.0 mouse as there are additional energy savings in 4.0 if you are really concerned.

Thank's for this helpfull answer.
Well, im not really focus on the battery life of my surface RT, but, i don't want to loose of its advantage : battery life.
So well, now it's ok, i will see to buy a Bluetooth mouse.
I see the logitech around 40 euros and a microsoft around 25 euros. The price is better, and it seems to be more friendly user, than this tactical mouse...

[Q] Anyone Having Issue with Apple Magic Mouse on the m8?

Has anyone else been able to successfully pair an Apple Magic Mouse with the m8 using the stock ROM? I can pair my Apple Wireless Keyboard (A1314) and use it just fine, but the Magic Mouse (A1296) doesn't even show up when I'm searching for Bluetooth devices.
I have tried another mouse (namely, a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 which belongs to a friend) and it works perfectly fine. The Magic Mouse works flawlessly with the VZW/GPE ROM that is in the works elsewhere on this forum, but sadly I cannot continue using the ROM since it's not complete enough for me yet.
Any tips on how to get this thing to [at least] show up?

Bluetooth mouse works, but shows no pointer

cm-12.1-20151201-0115-UNOFFICIAL-p5100 and gapps-5.1.x-20150404-minimal-edition-signed installed with clean install.
Okay so far.
Bluetooth mouse pairing okay.
Mouse wheel and mouse buttons work.
But there is no visible mouse pointer.
Tested with two mice, an old microsoft mouse and a new samsung, both showing the same behavior.
Is there any solution or workaround?
By the way, this is a great forum.
Installing custom roms on my old p5100 is a new topic for me for a few days.
The forum here was a great help, without I would never have come so far.
Thanks to all members especially android-andi!
I forgot to mention that I use the Bluetooth Mouse in conjunction with the Samsung Keyboard Dock.
So I get a nice little platform for editing scripts, texts and with AIDE some light Java developing.
A working mouse would be very helpful.
But even without charged Keyboard Dock driver no mouse pointer appears.
Is nobody except me missing the bluetooth mouse pointer?

Its not just a mouse problem but a problem in software part ( disabled cursor layer )
look at what Android-Andi has said.

Mouspointer fix won't be merged by CM as it's a workaround only to fix it. Need to find a different way of fixing it.

Help making a app that uses Steelseries Stratus Duo controller 2.4ghz usb reciever?

Hey there! i was at my local store looking for a controller and came across the Steelseries Stratus Duo, i got it and brought it home hoping that it would work nicely with my phone, the exact opposite was true, i was using Bluetooth
and it had horrible lag and often times disconnected i tried to fix the lag and connection drops, nothing worked.
And sense this has no way to update firmware (at-least at the moment) on the Bluetooth side, i am not able to use it in that mode.
I have tested this on multiple devices, some carrying the bt 5.0 chip some with bt 4.2 and some with bt 4.1
the controller says it is using a Bt 4.1 chip (that's what it says on the box)
all exhibit the same issue's as noted above. most if not all are supposed to be compatible, but all of them are glitchy. with this controller.
So i was understandably disappointed, not wanting to return the controller,i tried out something, if you have ever used steam link app for android and plugged in a USB controller? if so the application will ask you if you want to use it with your device? you can choose yes or no, i tried it and was really surprised that it worked as well as it did, absolutely no issues with lag nor random connection drops.
just REALLY SOLID PERFORMANCE.
So, that gave me an idea, what if i made a stand alone application that allows us to use the included USB receiver with android?
and add extra functionality on top of it. such as emulating other controllers for better app compatibility.
I was looking for a driver or something that can pull access from that receiver. something i can integrate into my project.
As far as i know the controller is just seen as a Xbox 360 controller so i was wondering if there is a Pre-made driver for integration with apps, that would save me a lot of time and would simplify the process quite a bit.
The app will be free and will be given to people on my discord and on host sites.
Here's a link to the discord server i created.
nevermind its not letting me post links (thats fine)
I created the discord server because other people are having this issue as well.
and that's where all the progress will be recorded. also if you have this controller and are experiencing issues you can join too!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
