Going on the reverse (VEGan), you'll have issues - the kernel, the screen rotation, the audio, the camera, and the wifi are all different, if I recall correctly.
There's actually another VEGA user trying to port the Adam fw over to the VEGA, and is having issues - I've been PM'ing that user back and forth.

I look at the DHD forums and see different roms that aren't in the inspire section. Now I'm running stock radio and currently running coredroid 3.1, would flashing a Rom like CM7 from DHD forums without issue? Or maybe even the villian (believe that is its name) without issue?

As far as I am aware, you cab flash anything that doesn't use a custom kernel, as dhd kernels kill sound on inspire. But there is a kernel for CWM7 floating here on inspire board

You can use most of the newer Desire HD kernels as the sound is enabled now because of HTC's updates. I made a kernel that overclocks CM7 to 1.8ghz if you wanna give it a go.
Yes indeed I will def use your kernel for CW7 THANKS . But I saw the Villain Rom over there, the incredible S port I believe. Would I flash the Rom but keep the lee or buzz kernel aside and flash on top of the Rom to assure audio and video configurations to still be in tact?

Moved to general as not android development
Id like to complie a list for what things work for the Inspire that were made for the DHD. They are the same phone, just different carriers. So what can you guys confirm? What stuff do you think works? Roms? Kernels? There is a oneclick tool that includes visionary in the DHD forum, and I wonder if it could work? Let me here what you guys think.

We're using DHD ROMs for the most part now, there are a few that were built off of the stock ROM, but for the most part all of the ROMs we're seeing are DHD ROMs. All of the radios we use come from the DHD Radios thread, Apache's kernel thread redirects you to his DHD kernels...so yes, these all seem to be interchangable. The exploit that was available in the DHD to one-click root is not available on the Inspire, which is why it's required to make a gold card so you can downgrade the ROM first.
Thaat makes sense about the rooting. But even if they aren't in this thread for roms and they are in the dhd, they still work?

For the most part , yes. You might have to flash a compatible kernel and turbonix audio fix for some of the Roms. I think if you see in the rom's description that it is built from 1.84 base then it works without modification.

well all of the skins work. Ive tried about 10 different ones.
just about all cases, the official htc car dock for the dhd works for the inspire, screen protectors......
I just came from the HD2 so I'm still kinda new to the Inspire. With the HD2, each kernel was built from scratch specifically for the HD2 so there was never any question that a kernel from a different ROM would work. I know the Inspire and DHD are basically the same phone specification wise except for different audio drivers for the inspire, so my question is: Can I take any AOSP kernel for the DHD to flash directly to my Inspire running MIUI?
Yes I'm using lordmod on miui now

Thanks!! And I'm assuming I can do the same thing with ROM's also right?

Just try and see... Be sure to backup first.
I've had issues with some kernels not working quite right. The latest lordmod kernel i could not get to act right with Gingerbeast on my phone.
It's a trial by error. Some ROM's too.

Yes Nick is absolutely right. play around and see. every rom I have ever used from the dhd section has worked fine for me some just require you to flash an audio fix thats all. but yes for the most part all the dhd stuff is compatible. Just remember dont use an aosp kernel on a sense rom and vice versa
Cool, thanks guys. And I already made that mistake with the kernels. I tried flashing Leedroid kernel to the MIUI ROM. Everything booted up fine, but wifi gave an error when I tried to enable it. I think ill stick with lordmod anyway, since it seems to be the best all around. Thanks for the help.

you need to keep Sense kernels and AOSP/CM/MIUI kernels separated.
Hi all,
Was wondering what is the the best rom for the HOS.... or am I better of staying with ICS 4.0?

From what I've seen, it all depends.
Camera isn't the stock fast shooting camera in ROMs. If you need that, flashing ROMs wouldn't be the best choice for you.
Okay thanks I think I may just stay with ICS 4.0 then till the next android gets released in autumn?

What do you mean? Do you mean you will wait for the Nexus line of devices?
Almost all the roms have the stock camera. Only AOKP, CM9 and MIUI based builds + those where it is removed doesn't have it. TrickDroid and leeDroid has it. These roms are very similar to stock rom, except for some tweaks to improve batterylife/performance and they are deodexed to make it easier to tweak/theme
No I mean when the next Android os is released, called jellybean if I'm correct?

Oh, that's not released yet, so were not really sure if It's going to be Jelly Bean or something else. I will probably flash a Rom with next android version right after It's released, but I think it will take a while before It's stable enough for daily use

Oh... I always thought that the sense camera was unable to be placed onto a ROM, but any sense based ROM has the sense camera?
Not every sense based roms. There also are some roms called senseless roms, where apps and launcher and such ate replaced with aosp alternatives. As mentioned above, TrickDroid and LeeDroid are roms with sense camera

Hello,
Im using BlindICE rom right now, and I dont like the stock camera which is lack of functions. Can I replace the camera app with other camera like htc stock camera? :cyclops: Searched a lot about this, and most of the thread aren't replied, since 2011. @@
not possible.
Sense camera will not work on AOSP ROM
You can try other cameras from market
