[Q] Replace AOKP Camera - HTC Desire S

Hello,
Im using BlindICE rom right now, and I dont like the stock camera which is lack of functions. Can I replace the camera app with other camera like htc stock camera? :cyclops: Searched a lot about this, and most of the thread aren't replied, since 2011. @@

not possible.
Sense camera will not work on AOSP ROM
You can try other cameras from market

[Q] Using sense 3/3.5 camera in sense 4

Tried to find out, is that possible? Sense 3 and 3.5 got nice camera applications, in desire S. So if i install sense 4, is it possible use camera apk from earlier sense's?
Sorry stupid question, if asked earlier.
No, you can't. Camera doesn't work at all in sense 4 yet.
It seems that Cyanogen based on ICS has camera, but semi-functional.
Thanks. Hope HTC keeps hurry on sense 4
I always wondered why is it so hard to have working camera on new roms... Does someone know why?

Because HTC had not provided the source code for the kernel yet. The libraries are something that only HTC can provide
Swyped from a primed Desire S
Oh... I thought that since hardware is the same, you could use old libraries from stock sense on ics...

The camera and camcorder are working fine on the latest Cyanogen 9 Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429215 , its pretty much there as a complete Rom now.

MIUI v4 for Desire S now on miui.us

for all the miui fans out there some eagerly anticipated news.
I'm going to try it out now and update it here.
Already tried it, works flawlessly. Superkid's back
is it stable for daily use? cause right now i'm using fallout, but it seems i cant get to like sense interface..
Yup, very stable
do i need to use the latest hboot? coz mine is the old one.
It should work with any hboot/radio.
What about the camera n all??

install miui v4 from superkid, stable for daily use.
recommended. however i do feel some lagginess maybe because my SD card is bloated with unnecessary data.
Which kernel does it use?
Desire S • Fallout V2.0.0 • xda premium

From what I've seen, it all depends.
Camera isn't the stock fast shooting camera in ROMs. If you need that, flashing ROMs wouldn't be the best choice for you.
Okay thanks I think I may just stay with ICS 4.0 then till the next android gets released in autumn?

What do you mean? Do you mean you will wait for the Nexus line of devices?
Almost all the roms have the stock camera. Only AOKP, CM9 and MIUI based builds + those where it is removed doesn't have it. TrickDroid and leeDroid has it. These roms are very similar to stock rom, except for some tweaks to improve batterylife/performance and they are deodexed to make it easier to tweak/theme
No I mean when the next Android os is released, called jellybean if I'm correct?
Regards,
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium HD app
Oh, that's not released yet, so were not really sure if It's going to be Jelly Bean or something else. I will probably flash a Rom with next android version right after It's released, but I think it will take a while before It's stable enough for daily use

Oh... I always thought that the sense camera was unable to be placed onto a ROM, but any sense based ROM has the sense camera?
Not every sense based roms. There also are some roms called senseless roms, where apps and launcher and such ate replaced with aosp alternatives. As mentioned above, TrickDroid and LeeDroid are roms with sense camera

Stock camera won't work with aosp roms. Anyone who has used the inspire sense camera knows how much the aosp camera sucks. It's just something you have to live with on aosp. It's actually one of the main reasons I stick with sense. Not willing to see the great camera on these phones go to waste.

Yeah, I agree. Sense ROMs are the best for that 8MP shooter of ours I've only had 2 AOSP ROMs,CM7 & Ice Cold Sandwich. Then I've had 2 Sense ROMs, AR HD and Primo-S. ARHD had the best camera of all.

[Q] 90% senseless ROM??

Hello everyone I have been looking for a 90% senseless ROM on this forum, I had a htc sensation before and there were some senseless ROM where the only sense part was the camera, I have seen some "senseless" ROM here but they are like 50% sensless, and what I'm looking for is
aosp status bar
aosp dialer and contacts
aosp settings
aosp lockscreen
aosp drawer applications
So if you get me, I would love a 90% aosp with HTC camera
Is that possible??

Closest would be CleanRom Dev. But you won't get the dialer of settings. You would have to go AOKP or CM for all of that but then you wouldn't have the One X stock camera.

Settings is at a level deeper than non-AOSP ROMs are going to go.
And I can't remember why the dialer can't be swapped out. I think Scott said he couldn't get it working, but I am not going to search through the Clean Rom Dev thread right now to find the discussion.
Also try rebelrom... the first version.. its a bit older and support is pretty much nonexistent, but its the perfect level of aosp and sense. Almost exactly like your asking for. Pair that with beast mode kernel V1.2 and you have a rocket...
Bpears second build of that ROM is awesome. I mean AWESOME... but you can't send or receive MMS.. at all. It was a deal breaker for me

I vote for RebelROM too. I used it as my daily driver for several weeks and loved it. Perfect balance of Sense and AOSP. The only reason I'm not running it anymore is I got that itch to flash something new. Even though it is indeed "old" it's still perfectly fine.
Ok i saw it and i did like it but the problem is that it's base on 1.88 and I'm on v 2.x and I don't want to go to an older version of baseband, is there any rom alike to that one?

There is nothing quite like RebelROM that is up to date. But based on your criteria, it is the one for you. Make a nandroid backup and give it a whirl. Don't like... Restore from backup. You may not even notice that it is 1 month old.
