[Q] Gtablet losing its settings - G Tablet General

I am having a slight issue using vegan 5.1 w/ supplement....same issue with launcher pro and launcher...if i put the device to sleep or shut it down when it reboots sometimes all of my icons and widgets on my homescreen are gone?!? I was also getting a google.framework Force close..and a few of my apps stopped working...I have not tried to do the partion but I am tonight...has anyone else ran into these kind of issues?

I'm not running 5.1.1, only 5.1, but I've not had these problems. Only FCs I've had are when going into system settings -> About Tablet -> Status, which FCs every time. Haven't found a reason why...

This is a known issue with the supplement, if you have a previous backup from before flashing the supplement you should revert to that.

Thanks guys,
any way to resolve? permissions on a file or anything...or should I just revery back to the previous 5.1?

Best to revert back to 5.1
Also, the Status FC issue that doctorde is having also a known issue.
What you need to remember is, even though VEGAn 5.1 Beta is a pretty good ROM and can be used as a daily driver. It's still only a Beta ROM and there will be bugs with the OS. Technically it's still in development. But since it's original creator has decided to merge the VEGA project with the CyanogenMod 7 project, development has pretty much slowed to a turtles crawl and it's not entirely known if the VEGAn ROM will ever really see a "STABLE" version being released.
I can only guess since the VEGA/CM7 Merge began, all development is being directed towards a VEGA/Gingerbread ROM.
And when a Dev finally gets his/her hands on a System image, a boot image, an Nvidia or TegraII SDK for Honeycomb, I'm sure everyone and thier pets will be moving over to Android 3.0 which is pretty much designed for Tablets like the GTAB.

Interesting.. I have never had problems with Launcher Pro and 5.1.1.

[Q] Issues after Installing Cyanogen 6.0 RC2

Hello,
After installing the mod i an having issues with my launcher pro. The issue is that it glitches and the icons in the app drawer don't show up properly and eventually it crashes and forces me to close it. Now i have tried uninstalling and re-installing a few times and have come to one conclusion. As soon as i use the pure calendar widget is when is starts to fail on me. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else... I am kinda new at this so I would appreciate a detailed explanation.
I am also thinking that maybe if i un-install adw launcher it might help but im not sure how to do that. Please let me know.
Thanks
Dude - I had some very similar issues after upgrading to froyo on my G1 (dream).
I found that by transferring the bulk of my apps to the sd card the whole thing ran a lot smoother. At the same time I uninstalled the free overclocker app which is I suspect the reason for the better battery life now.
The RC2 install is still only a few days old so I'll post more if I find anything!
Hope that helps.
Godneps
Thanks man, i will try that! I am using set CPU would that be better if i unistalled?

[Q] Tablet super laggy and slow already...and it's pretty new

Hey guys,
My gTab is only about 2months old and it's already behaving like old equipment. the boot time is more than a minute. Many applications take a good ten seconds to load. The new Google+ FCs each time I tap the message or places button. The Dolphin browser takes forever to load.
I'm running CM 7.0.3 with pershoot's .32 kernel to fix the WiFi issues. Any suggestions as to how I can get the lag out of this beast and whip it to shape?
Ginger behaves like this, especially cm7.
Do you have widgets running? I had a weather widget once that made my tablet run laggy. As soon as I took it off pow!!! Back to normal
Well, yes. I have WeatherBug running, along with a few others. Also, my Google+ repeatably crashes each time I try to tap on the pencil icon to enter a status message. Is this known? Also, does any1 recommend upping to the 7.1 CM?
I'm considering heading back to Froyo for full speed.

I just found that using my fake location make G+ work. It's a location issue.
As I mentioned before, I think going back to Froyo is the only way to get good performance. I just tried the Brilliant Corners Froyo-based rom. Since Vegantab 5.1.1 is pretty much done with (no one is supporting it or issuing updates), this seems the best option if I wanted something more mainstream with proper driver support.
I'll be honest, there's stuff I miss from CM7 (particularly the Gingerbread Bluetooth stack and flawless netflix), but as a whole the device seems much snappier.
It was a bit of a headache changing bootloaders to 1.2, but it looks like a lot of more interesting developments are happening on that side of the loaders now anyway.
Can you point me in the direction to get this new ROM? I'm not interested in BlueTooth or Netflix on the device.
Some 'construction-type' or resource gathering games are persistent after you exit them (Bug Village, Paradise Islang, Gangsta) so the game can can give you an update while you aren't playing. I've found that killing those apps really helps performance and doesn't affect game play when you launch again. I've also seen an increase after killing some weather apps, but others don't seem to affect performance at all.

[Completed] [PROBLEM] Samsung Galaxy S2 SlimRom 4.4.2

Hey everyone. So recently, I installed CM11 on my phone. Seeing that it had a lot of problems ( youtube, camera etc.) I decided to change it.
A similar rom was SlimRom. Everything went good, until I've hit some big problems( well not that big):
1)- Wireless and mobile data speed -
Here... well....(sigh). From 3mb/s download speed on my SGS2 I dropped down to... 100kb/s excellent connection? I mean that's ridiculous.
If there is any fix for this, or if anything is blocking my internet speed, I would like to know.
2) -Apk's were not installed cause of Nova launcher -(Solved)
Nova launcher seemed to not let my custom apks to be installed. This was solved by updating Nova Launcher to the most recent version and rebooting. Error message: This will erase Nova's desktop layout and replace it with the selected change. Are you sure? Cancel/OK
If you select OK, it will sent you to the home screen with apk installer being ignored. If you cancel, nothing happens.
3) -Pixelated youtube videos -(Solved)
The same problem like on Cyanogen. The fix for this is to install 4.4.3 gapps on your phone. I've did that, everything worked well.
4) -Random app crash- (Rare issue)
Every custom ROM has a problem, slimrom seemed to have less issue than other ROM's. Crashes occures when using Browser, but after installing CM Browser and Clean Master, it turned out pretty well.
I don't think I'm gonna change SlimKat unless it's going to appear more problems.

Nice report.
You should post it in the ROM thread: [ROM][4.4.2][01/04]SlimKat - I9100 [Build 4][WEEKLIES].
There are links at the top for "Reviews" and "Bug reports" ... that's the way you may help to improve the ROM
Thread closed and thank you.

Nova Launcher direct dial problem

Hi guys,
Could someone please confirm if the Nova Launcher's Direct Dial shortcuts work in the new Mate 9 EMUI 5.
I'd be happy to upgrade but there's one thing that's stopping me.
I've been using my Mate 7 running KitKat 4.4.2 and EMUI 3.0 for a couple of years now. It's my main business tool. I basically got stuck with it as any further firmware update was ruining the Direct Dial function in my Nova Launcher, and I highly rely on it. It was failing to dial with "permission denied" error. They say it's a problem with EMUI but there's NO fix. I tried every possible way to make it work.
PS I know you can get other direct dial apps, but unfortunately they can't be assigned to Nova's gestures, and that's how I need it.
Thank you
I'm using romaur 1.5 and I'm on the beta program for nova prime. At some point it started working again. Couldn't tell you what it was though, I think maybe the latest version of nova fixed it on their end.
This problem bugged me for a very long time, but now it seems this ROM and phone does almost everything I want and how I want. I come from a nexus 5, so the lack of options here was a very sore spot at first but now I'm a happy camper and this bug was the last thing that bothered me.

Thanks mate, I'll keep rom aur 1.5 in mind as a workaround. Would love to hear if anyone's tested it with the stock ROM.
no it does not. I have the latest B185 update and it's the same error you mentioned. I contacted both Huawei and Nova Launcher developers, they are pointing finger to each other each blaming the other party.
I'm using an app to speed dial.

Lag in recent apps overview

I'm on a Pixel 3 XL with the latest Android update (not rooted, no custom ROM, or anything like that). I am using Nova Launcher. When I try to switch to a recent app, there is a long lag time. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens more often than not.
In the video link below, I have the "show taps" on so you can see what is going on. I clear all the recent apps. Open just 4 apps. And then try to switch to the most recent app. I tap two times, and nothing happens. But the screen is not frozen since I can still scroll through the recent apps. I tap one last time and there is still no response. And after a while, the app finally opens.
Is this a common issue on Pixels. Is there anything that can improve this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's a pretty common issue with third party launchers. Try using the stock launcher to see if the issue persists

Tried it with the stock launcher and it did not happen. This is super frustrating. Pixel phones are becoming iPhones now, limiting our choice. I don't know how they haven't fixed this issue yet, despite having Android 10 out for so long.

It has to do with everything being built into the launcher now, including animations. If it makes you feel better this seems pretty much completely fixed in Android 11. Are you rooted? There is a magisk module that fixes this completely on Android 10 as well.
Edited to add: it's called quickstep switcher I believe in case you're wondering

Thanks! I'll look into it. This is the first phone I haven't rooted or had a custom ROM on, mainly because of the ease of monthly OTA updates. But now I am leaning towards rooting. I'll have to research a bit about how to deal with monthly updates while rooted.

Root it but keep the old boot image. Flash the original boot image before taking the OTA. Then download the fastboot files for the new OTA from the Android site, patch that new boot image and flash that.
Feel free to PM me anytime you need any help, I'll even patch the boot image for you if you like.
