WTF? lol
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/02/24/add-march-10th-to-the-list-of-htc-thunderbolt-release-dates/
I wouldnt worry to much about this recent news. As someone else noticed as well. They have phones listed in that screen shot that show they come out in november of 2010 as well. This paper could be as old as october of 2010. If im not mistaken, TB was a march release to begin with originally
Im not believing it..
Notice, that screenshot is not about upcoming devices. It is about their "current lineup". Which is accurate. And shows when the device was launched.
How is that misleading? It is showing Verizon's current lineup...
I wouldnt touch that with a 10ft stick, so many ads rumors and all that hype for these phone you can't possibly know for sure which is real so at these point if it releases good if not il just wait..

This is just my opinion but I can see it coming out after 3/12. Since BB gives you a 30 day return, they don't want to get all the I-Phones back to get a better phone. That only my opinion.
I wonder if Verizon will give current customers the option to extend their current contract for another 2 years and upgrade early like they did with the iPhone...one can only hope.

What about if you have a family plan? I received an email confirming my early upgrade eligibility on my main phone (a Droid 1) but I have two more phones that will be coming up on their anniversary dates in late Summer/early Fall. Will Verizon allow early upgrades on those phones too?

Last time I checked, the return policy stated 14 days. That would put the buffer to, well, this past Thursday.
Someone at a verizon kiosk told me that it will be out on Monday for a secret release. They don't want to make it to public tor whatever reason, but its apparently coming out on the 28th

After i say that and think there is no way it will happen, it probably will be a "secret" release. LOL

He mentioned that Verizon is worried about mass people abruptly entering 4g at once so they want to have people entering it slowly to make sure that the system functions properly before adding a ton of stress to it.

Only problem with that idea is, after about 2 or 3 hours everyone will know and within a day or two, they will have a ton of users on the system..
Secret Release......I thought I had seen it all...sorry but that is priceless...
I think this phone has lost all of its momentum since MWC and CES. There's barely any buzz about it anymore. What a waste of all that free publicity...

It looks like March 3rd/4th is the next rumored drop date for the TB. BGR is reporting an insider at VZW was at an event held last night with TB launch details etc.

I saw that in the Android Central forums, it's quite possible. If the date holds I can hold on another week. Of course it'd be nice for Verizon to say something.
I actually beleive this may really be the date, Im kind of relieved..
My local Verizon corp. store took down all their TB signs. They are only flying the iP4 signs now. There for a while the walls were plastered with TB ads and signs.
Which "MARCH MADNESS" are we going to watch the NCAA BASKETBALL or the VERIZON /HTC Thunderbolt madness ???????
It might be even later if they can't get the FW more stable. It looks like they are going to just release the device and then push a couple OTA after release.
I've had the Incredible since May of 2010(one of the lucky ones) and am amazed at the recent rom development for this phone. I am also eligible for an upgrade as I am the primary line account.
That being said, I am excited for the Thunderbolt; but I can wait for the release. Chances are Verizon may lower the price after 30 days or so, depending on how well its received.

I must have missed that info. Has anyone with credibility actually stated that, or is that just another rumor being thrown around? I would assume if they already shipped out plenty of units, the FW would be plenty stable.
Would you please post a link to the source of that concern.

I work for Qualcomm, and the device went gold since January. The Network is being fine tuned to handle the LTE devices, and iPhone traffic, but the firmware is not the reason. There were numerous tentative release dates, but Verizon publically stated 1Q. Iphone 4 was the first priority, but that's my opinion.

Let's see what the outcome will be.
Didnt we know this already? Isnt there a thread dedicated to this?
Like I said when I posted this link half an hour ago, summer is less than a month away! Though a few bug fixes would be nice before then...
I wonder if the phone will remain "out of stock" until the update?

T-Mobile may issue this fix at the same time it rolls out its planned Android Gingerbread update, which the carrier announced will occur sometime before summer.
Summer starts June 21st or something. So "before June 21st".
That's how I read it. Note they didn't say "during" or "over" summer.
this is tmobile we are dealing with and you know how the updates for froyo with the vibrant went. yes i know this is not samsung but you have to think it is tmo and it is possible that they didnt want to release it so i will wait until the end of summer when we will possible get it. so do not come on here on june 21 or whenever the beginning of summer and expect to have gb on your phone that's not how tmobile works.

Yes, but in this case a lot of customers are waiting for an update to make their $500 phones work. T-Mo and LG have some serious incentive to get an update out ASAP.
EDIT: If I have to wait more than a month or so for a basic bug-fix update I may look into a full refund under lemon laws or whatever.

yes that's true it is the companies fault but as you know if lg, htc etc sends tmobile gb with free tethering or something similar then tmobile will most definitely send that version back until the company fixes it or until tmobile can block the feature and they will also have to be able to put their bloatware on the phone so it is tmo fault if say lg releases gb on june 1 and tmobile doesnt get it out until aug because they want to bloat it up with crap.

Oh yeah! you mean the unfinished GB? I can totally see how that's ready for mass production updates. >.> yeah bro. Again I see exaggerated time tables and to much blame put on Carriers. They're the necessary evil don't get be wrong but their involvement is minimal compared to what you all believe, slapping on"non removable" bloatware onto the Software is more simple than you give them credit for. Agreed options like free wifi are obvious rejected versions but that doesn't result in multi month extensions.

LG has continued to stick to it’s message of working fast and furious to push out a T-Mobile G2x Gingerbread update that contains various bug fixes. The problem is right now their message is something along the lines of “we know you are frustrated and we’re understanding so we hope to have some information to tell you soon.” What’s soon? Is it two days or two weeks as it’s already been a month that the G2x has been gone from T-Mobile.com. The time to tell us something has come and gone, now we’re moving into impatience.
Tonight’s information shows that LG hopes to deliver some information about the update in the next few days but not necessarily the update itself. As you can see in the Tweet above there is no indication that the “next few days” means an actual software release. So G2x owners are stuck playing the waiting game yet again. While I understand that neither T-Mobile nor LG wants to give a target date and miss it, perhaps it’s better than not saying anything at all.
@theLGgirl
Maybe a light at the end of the tunnel? I won't hold my breath, but still...

oh hey by the way i have a great deal for the first lucky person to contact me.
i have this bridge i am selling real cheap. its not made by lg or on tmobile its a good deal.
While I love my g2x, I can honestly say that I have never seen such a high end phone get pulled so quickly. LG borked it bog time and now the consumers pay. So T-Mobile exchanges the phone for a lower specification phone and expects us to pay MORE money for the so called "upgrade" to the Sensation. Personally I am pissed how this has been handled!

A lot of the stores are selling them when they have been asked not to. Why? Stores have to meet sales metrics. If you have a new customer signing up and they want the G2x, would you really tell them no?

lol no stores have been "asked not to sell" g2x's.
I dont know where you guys get all this crazy info from.
I have not seen one official email telling myself, or any other store in my region to not sell G2X's. (although we havent been getting our stock replenished for about 3 weeks now. we still have 2-3 in stock, but due to the recent price hike no one is really interested in the phone)
Bro think logically here...if it was recalled and they continue to sell them, and someone with a buggy phone found that out and could prove it, don't you think T-Mobile would end up losing alot more money with all the legit lawsuits then they would eating the cost of the recalled and discontinued g2x? Once again it hasn't been recalled?

People are getting bored. I hope the update hits soon. At least we would have something meaningful to post about.
So it looks like Verizon is pushing up some peoples' upgrade dates. Potentially in preparation for the iPhone launch next month. Or not.
Either way, before today (probably Saturday, actually), my upgrade date was 5/30/12. Today, my upgrade date is now. All phones are listed at their 2 year prices for my line.
It seems to only be the primary line, since my wife's phone (which we got at exactly the same time) has the normal upgrade date on it.
It does look like, if I go early, I'd lose the NewEvery2 discount, but I think that's down to $30 or so anyway, so meh.

I have one line and it looks like I have the deal. Next to the picture of the Charge on my account home page it says Eligible for a discount and then a ? in a blue circle. When I put my cursor on the question mark, a small window popped up that read:
You are eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing. If you upgrade on or after 5/09/12 you are eligible to receive an additional loyalty discount.
I clicked on upgrade phone and all the phones were listed at the two year contract discount price. Wonder how long this is going to last.
Negative for me. I'm still listed for Feb. 2013!

idk if its because of being a long time customer though. ive only been with verizon for the last 3yrs. yet i got the same message on my online account as landshark got.
I checked mine the other day and it seemed too far out. I got the SF in Nov '10 and it shows my upgrade as Mar '13? I had a SF replacement at one point and then got the Charge when they started that option. None of those changes should have changed my date would it?

They shouldn't have, but it appears that it did. Maybe something went weird with your Charge replacement (or an agent punched it in wrong), which put it through as an early upgrade.
I got my Fascinate in September of '10 and got it replaced with a Charge in July. I also had a replacement Fascinate in April when they munged up the network database and were replacing phones even though it only needed to be reactivated.
As I said in the OP. Before Saturday, my upgrade date was 5/30/12. Now it's any time I want it.
If the Prime comes out as a Nexus, and not a Droid, I'll be all over that thing. Particularly if it's a qHD or 720p SAMOLED(+).
I have had Verizon for 10 years now and never got any early upgrades at all. (Boo!) but This also was not listed as up gradable on my account. It is still listed at 4/12/2012.
As well I also bought my Fascinate in 10/2010. And then replaced with a charge after all the crap problems I had with it in May/June.
So in my case no extended contract or early upgrade and am just going to have to bug the hell out of them. LOL.
I seem to stand corrected. My plan NOW shows my phone eligible for an upgrade. SWEET!
Oh I really hope this is accurate...

HTC ThunderBolt ICS Update Testing in Final Stages, Roll Out by End of October?
Adam Mills — 10/11/2012
The HTC ThunderBolt Ice Cream Sandwich update that has been delayed since the end of August, might finally roll out to ThunderBolt owners by the end of October.
We received a tip today from a reader who says that Verizon informed them, through a phone call, that the HTC ThunderBolt Ice Cream Sandwich update is in the final stages of testing and that Verizon currently plans to roll it out by the end of October.
The person is a HTC ThunderBolt owner who sent Verizon an email venting frustration over the Ice Cream Sandwich delay. And much to their surprise, Verizon called them and relayed the above information. It’s unclear at this point whether Verizon has begun telling other inquiring HTC ThunderBolt owners something similar or if this person just so happened to get information they weren’t supposed to.
So at this point, while this seems to be pretty credible, HTC ThunderBolt owners will still want to circle the month of October in pencil but we wouldn’t get excited just yet.
Read: HTC ThunderBolt Ice Cream Sandwich Update: Time for a Decision.
It appears that the HTC ThunderBolt ICS update might roll out this month.
That’s because there is always a possibility that something might go wrong in testing, delaying the software even further than it already has been delayed. We know HTC and Verizon have been working on this update since the delay back in August and it appears that we could be closer than ever to a decision on the update.
As of now, HTC and Verizon remain mum on the whereabouts of the update, only saying that the software is being worked on and that they would provide more information as it becomes available. We assume that this is because the update is still in testing, again possibly in the final stages, and because they haven’t yet determined an official roll out date.

Unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything in regards to the Droid Incredible 2 Ice Cream Sandwich update, an update that was delayed alongside the HTC ThunderBolt ICS update, though we imagine that HTC and Verizon are currently working on that one as well.
At the very least, the silence means that they still haven’t cancelled the update and if today’s rumor proves fruitful, it may actually roll out to ThunderBolt owners at some point this month.
We’ll keep digging and update you on what we find.

I suppose we will see.
I don't even care for the OTA... I only care for the sources to make our development easier and working properly.
There's always that possibility... it could roll out tomorrow even. I don't think anyone really knows. But I, as well, hope it is released very soon.
I believe Verizon is the hold up, so I can see where this article could be true.

At this point they can take their update and such and put 'em where the sun don't shine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Period!

Verizon called a customer to tell them this?
Uhmmmmmmmmmm.
Unless that customer was the CEO of some major fortune 500 company, I have my doubts.
But we shall see.
TBH, this is all based on an unnamed user's claim that VZW called him (really?) to tell him about the update... sounds like BS to me. oh well though, i hope it's true.
total bull.

I bet someone made all that crap up just to see if people would post it on the internet. I might have believed it if they said they received an email stating that they were almost finished testing but even that would probably be bull coming from Verizon. It doesn't make sense that they delayed the update and haven't said one word about it unless they intend on not pushing it out.

This just takes advantage of TB owners who are salivating for our rightful upgrade. We're running on fumes; that's why articles like this get published.
I only care about the OTA insofar as the camera and other functionality is concerned. I have a 4 month old son -- my first. I need my camera!
Duely blundered from my thunderdolt.
yeah....
I just had the fight of my life with Verizon, trying to make them give me the money they mistakenly charged on my credit card. Based on my experience and those of other people I know, I can't imagine that Verizon would do anything so customer-centered as this. As much as I would love to believe this, this has to be a fairy tale...and one that isn't likely to have a happy ending.

You too? I just finished a 2 day war with them over changing the devices on my plan and keeping unlimited. I'm an 11 year customer, but lost that war. They are @#$*&%$. This topic is the biggest BS that I've seen in the bolt section for awhile, and yes, doesn't look like this will end well, I agree.
Did it annoy anyone else when they say ThunderBolt? Maybe it's just me being OCD, lol

Yes. In official (VZW or HTC) print, the bolt is either a capital "T" followed by lowercase letters, or all uppercase. The name of the phone is intended to be a single word, not two. Whoever started doing or perpetuates the "ThunderBolt" iteration of the name, because I've seen it that way on numerous android related websites, needs to stop it, it's unnecessary and visually annoying. If you were being OCD, that makes two of us.

Dang, now I'm scared. I'm about to buy a Rezound off craigslist. Been about a 6 or 7 year customer. On unlimited data right now, Do you think I should try and get this phone and try to switch devices on my contract?

If you obtain your own device, VZW has absolutely no issue switching your device on your plan and letting you keep unlimited, I asked several store reps. And a phone Rep. About that very issue when I was thinking of getting an S3. If you supply/obtain your own equipment (VZW smartphone, not bought through VZW at a subsidized/renewal price) there's no problem. My issue is that I wanted to remove a dumbphone from my plan and it's the primary line. I can't do that and keep unlimited data on my smartphone line, so I'm stuck paying for a dumbphone I don't use to keep unlimited... Grrr
That makes two of us. They are such trolls!!!!

Wow!! You'd think that they would work to keep long-time customers happy. There are people there that can bend and/or break their so called "rules". I've actually had them do so before. However, most of the the people you'll speak to have no authority and/or have no idea what they are talking about. That's why when I encounter a problem requiring a call to Verizon, I immediately ask for a manager and refuse to speak to anyone else until I get someone who can actually make decisions. They do exist but are few and far between...
This is all really disappointing. I sincerely hope that one of the other carriers gives me a compelling reason to switch (ie expanded coverage area & better valued plans). If so, I'm jumping ship just as soon as I possibly can.

If that is true that would make a lot of people in the Bolt community happy. I am running Liquids ICS, but having all the right coding would make his rom run even better.

There should be a "30 minutes or less" type situation with carriers and ETA's on updates so they stop straight up lying, and if they get caught we get some sort of incentive. Seriously how many times have we heard "end of this month for sure" and then another two months go by with no word, and not just with the Thunderbolt. I've learned a long time ago not to trust them with dates anymore since they've lost all credibility in giving accurate ETA's, but this needs to stop, it's just getting annoying.
