[Q] How to change SMSC number in a rooted phone - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi dear everyone,
I wander whether it's possible to change the hidden setting like SMSC number in my program, if it's running in a rooted phone. If it's possible, any further information?

On my DHD with cm 6.1 I can't find anything under either settings or messages.
Edit: dial *#*#4636#*#* and then go to phone info, it should be in there.
Sent from my Desire HD

Yeah, thx for replying.
Entering the offical setting by *#*#4636#*#* is ok by end-user.
However, I'd want to modify SMSC in my own program for another purpose.
Any Idea?

[Q] MMS on windows phone--Need help

Hi Everyone,
I have searched online, contacted T-Mobile, HTC and can't find what i need.
Using T-Mobile HD7 on Wind Network (Canada), everything works fine except MMS, i need to add second APN and information for Wind, but seems T-Mobile left that part of the phone locked, there's no way to add second APN or modify it. Since wind uses different settings for Internet-MMS i have no way of getting MMS to work. Searching online i found many asking the same questions, even phones on different networks. Seems T-mobile not alone.
At this point considering all options, including loading Mango from different carrier if necessary, question is-- Do any of you have Mango installed that gives option adding second APN? Any other alternative you may know to get MMS to work?
Thanks
You could make a provxml that modifies the registry manually if your on mango.. Ot if your on nodo and unlocked you can installer the registry editor and modify them yourself. Its not a tmobile thing its wp7 in general. I'm on simple mobile. They have those settings in HTC connection setup but not for wind I just checked.

Thanks for the reply.
That's what i was afraid, by the sounds of it HTC is no hurry to update the App to support Wind or Mobilicity. I guess i have to revert back to 7004 (i'm on 7392) and try the registry hack. Do you know if the registry changes stays after updating the phone back to NoDo-7392? Mango? From what i got from another thread, as long as i don't run HTC connection tool, i should be ok, right? I know many questions, only now starting searching on options to hack the phone, see you did great work on updating to Mango-- Thanks
Try this. Basically this tells the phone to re-get the mms settings from your provider. It worked for me on AT&T.

Missmatched phone numbers HTC HD7

I getting really annoyed by the facts that my phone sometimes shows different number ergo "People" doesn't recognize the number....let me give an example:
If I have a friend "TOM" whos number is 031456789 and he is calling me, his number looks like +38631456789.
Because of the +386 (internacional number for Slovenia) the phone doesnt match the number I have in "People". The same annoying thing is happening in sms.
The number sometimes shows as +38631456789 and it doesn't recognize which number it is.....
This does not happen to all the numbers.
I think the problem lies as the Slovenian SiMobil mobile operator is recognized as foregian!
You see... I have bought the device at MOBITEL (Slovenian mobile operator) and have been originaly unlocked so that I can use all the different slovenian mobile operators.
But currently I'm using SiMobil operator, and I think that all the numbers that are from SiMobil are shown as +38631456789 and for those who has the number certified on MOBITEL operator are shown normal as 031456789.
All the settings in in region+language are set to Slovenia.
Can this bug be repaired?
I saw a few month back a tread where you can go to registry on your phone and repair that bug, but you have to unlock the phone and set up Registry editor.
I had that once on my phone but the registry editor won't show reg files ergo I coudn't change anything in registry.
I saw the maps but I didn't saw the reg files.
Specs of the phone:
HTC HD7 T9292
OS version: 7.10.7720.68
Firmware revision number: 2250.21.40502.401
Would this help?
Caller ID issue fix
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
"CallIDMatch"=dword:7
Anyone? Noone has this problem¨?
XDA was helpful once ago.
Whatever, yes, it is the CallIdMismatch. I have this problem. I needed to, before update to Mango, install Advanced Config, and select the Fix Id Caller. And then it was resolved.
If you're at Mango, you'll need a interop unlocked device.
This problem sux.

But isn't HTC interop unlock device process still experimental?
I thought you can do this only to Samsung & LG....

You can do it with the Provxml(HTC Connection setup) method upgrade to mango. If you were on Nodo and did the provxml process you can get interop unlock when you get to final mango.
I have done it and so have many others. Sadly Interop unlock is not as good as the NoDO unlock (no file access and other issues) but, should sove your issue.

SGS2 SR automatically takes 011 as International dialing

Hey guys
I just got my SR unlocked and i am using it in India. Whenever i dial a number starting with '011' it considers it as an international number and shows the country name based on the digits following it. '011' is used in India for dialing to phone numbers in New Delhi whereas the international dialing prefix is either '00' or '+'.
For e.g., if i dial a number as '01140...' the phone shows Romania as the destination when its actually New Delhi!
Though there is no problem in connecting to the correct numbers, i would still like to change this.
Whats the best way? I read somewhere about a sub-menu under settings called 'assisted dialing', but it seems to be missing on the SR.
Should i flash a custom ROM?

When the calls go through, are you getting any additional charges through your carrier as if they are reading that the call is to Romania?
If it is not costing you any extra and still works but you want it to say the correct location, try flashing a different ROM just to see if it is different.
Maybe try Rogers or T-mobile based ROM instead of AT&T and see what happens.

If you are with Rogers and you took your Rogers SIM card, put it in, dial *611 (it's free globally) and get them to tell you what the hell is going on and how to fix it. No need to mention unlocked, rooted, ROM'd or anything, just say your problem and wait for a solution.
Isn't this due to the app that is installed that tells you the location of the number ringing you or that you are dialing?
I can't remember the name of the damn app, but its a trial and after a while it asks you to buy and if you don't it deactivates.

Thanks guys.
The calls were not getting routed through any country. They were connecting just fine. It was only a display issue. I tried by replacing the AT&T radio with the Rogers Radio, but that didnt help.
Then i figured it could be because of the phone.apk file, but editing it would be complicated.
I dint really go down the path of looking at cityid.apk.
But then i flashed using the Rogers stock ROM and it solved the problem!
Thanks again!
This is for the sole reason that Rogers does not package CityID.apk in the 727r release.

[Q] 4.3 APN

I have been using a 4.2 rom (Rootbox) with APN settings from PureTalk (see Android settings). Talk, text, and data all work as they should. Whenever I use any 4.3 rom (I've tried Revolt, PAC, and Carbon) and enter the exact same APN settings, I cannot send outgoing text messages. I can receive texts, send and receive MMS, make and receive phone calls and utilize data, but outgoing SMS just will not work. Whenever I send an outgoing SMS, message details indicate an error code of -1. I have researched and tried various methods, but I believe the culprit lies in the APN settings. My research has shown that it may be possible that I need to put something in the following fields in order for SMS to work:
MVNO Type
MVNO Value
However, PureTalk does not have these settings (presently), and they weren't needed (and also wasn't an option) on the 4.2 roms I've used and everything worked as it should. I have tried various settings in both fields (such as selecting IMSI for MVNO Type and leaving the default MVNO Value, in addition to trying different values I found around the Internet), but to no avail. I also read that the SMS gateway could be incorrectly figured or the apn.conf is not saving information correctly. I went into Phone Information under the hidden menu and refreshed the SMSC field and rebooted, I've tried rebooting after putting in the APN settings, turning off the radio, etc. I am at a complete loss as to what to try next. Can someone please assist me or tell me what I am doing wrong? Thank You.
GSM SMS
Upon searching more on the forums....it seems the culprit might have something to do with the phone number displaying as 'Unknown'. If the phone number was displayed, the SMS msgs could send based off the phone number in the phone because the system would know where they're originating from. However I've tried CM 4.3 and PAC 4.3 and cannot get into the GSM call settings, they are blacked out.
Unknown Phone Number
Does anyone know how to alter the phone number under Settings>About Phone>Status? I tried downloading the app My Phone Number from the market, but it won't install for some reason. I also cannot access GSM settings under Phone>Settings>GSM Call Settings (on all 4.3 roms I've tried), the option is there, but it won't allow me to select it. The phone number shows just fine without prior programming on a 4.2 rom.
If your Phone Number is showing up as Unknown, do you happen to have your IMEI? You might have lost it in the flash process. You can check it by either *#*#4636#*#* or *#06# and going to Phone Information and making sure it is the same as the number behind your battery. If you don't have one you have a different issue.

Yes, the IMEI shows on both 4.2 and 4.3. The phone number only says unknown on 4.3, not on 4.2. At this point, I don't know what else to try....
