[Q] Otterbox Commuter input - HTC Inspire 4G

Was looking at getting the otterbox commuter for my phone, but have a question for someone that has it. I tried the speck case and it had rubber buttons for the volume and unlock buttons. With that case you had to push exceptionally hard to get the button to push. I noticed the commuter case has these rubber buttons as well. Can someone with the commuter case tell me if the buttons are hard to push or not. What I am asking is does it take a lot of pressure to register the button push.
Thanks.

I have one on the way... I'll post my impressions when I get it tomorrow (I think).

The rubber on my otterboxes I have had were soft...it is a nice absorbing somewhat grippy rubber. I wouldn't see making the buttons harder to push then they already are.

I have one for my nexus one and I really like it. My brother just put in a order for the Inspire 4g and the commuter. The phone is shipping to my house because I have to set it up for him. I'll post some pictures when the phone arrives.

On my Nexus One I have no problems with button input. Since I have a trackball I normally never use the power button. But when I do I don't notice any problems.

Keep us up to date. I was looking for cases for this phone and it sucks that nobody has any good ones (in my opinion).
For your Nexus One, does it attract a lot of dust etc? I've never used one, but I hear people saying its kinda siliconish and i've used silicone and silicone sucks for pocket use.

Mine was just delivered to my house about an hour ago. I was wondering about the rubber buttons as well, so I'll post how they perform once I get home.

Got the otterbox on now, and the button covers are not stiff at all. It just takes marginally more pressure than normal. The case fits well and does not add too much thickness to the phone. The port cover is a bit touchy to close, but that might just take getting used to.

IMO, the rubber casing improves the feel of the volume buttons. Before, it was slightly difficult to determine whether or not the button was pressed. Maybe it's just specific to the phone I got. Overall, I recommend the case but get a new screen protector.

I agree with this; the port cover is a bit fiddly.

I had the commuter for just over a week now and its a great case. Makes pushing the buttons easier i think.
I upgraded to the Defender today and the only issue i find is that it seems it was made to lock in the case with the face of the phone out. When i flip the phone to have the screen inside, the power button rubber gets pushed in a bit. The rubber on the outside is very very soft but gives a good grip. Bottom port is easy to get at like the commuter. The backside has the screen protector over the camera lense and the flash. This does not affect pictures or video that i can see.
EDIT: to fix the power button rubber being pushed in i took a file and ground out a small amount and fits perfectly now

My Commuter arrived earlier today, and I love it.
The volume buttons are actually easier to push thanks to the case.. the power button is about the same. Build quality is top notch and it doesn't add nearly as much thickness to the phone as I expected.
But most of all, I like the way it feels in my hand. Naked and uncased, the Inspire feels too thin and unconfident. With the Otterbox, it feels just right. You might feel like it's a bit slippery at first, but you'll get used to it.

Ordered mine, The otterbox site has them in stock and listed under Inspire 4G now.

Had the commuter on my Captivate and loved it. Good protection, gave the phone a good feel in hand, and made the buttons easier to use as well. Also liked that the ports were covered up and protected. Have not got a case yet for my brand new Inspire, although my wife has the speck case on hers. Think I will personally get another Otterbox just because the buttons seem very stiff on the Speck case. Plus, trying to get the phone out of that case is kind of like getting the battery off of the Inspire for the first time.

Any commuter case owners care to comment on the included screen protector? Does it affect the sensitivity of the touch screen much? Any edges of the screen protector exposed? Or are they completely covered by the "lip" of the case on the front?

I still have the included protector on my Cappy along with the commuter case. No problems with the edges rolling up or peeling. For me, has been pretty darn durable and I've had it on send the end of november.

Just got mine. Fits great. Cant Complain at all.

Anyone mine taking some pics of theirs and posting it here for us to see? Thanks in advance.

If anyone is interested in picking one of these up, Otterbox has them back in stock. I also found the coupon code PSPNEagles04 which gives you 20% off and free shipping.

I just placed an order for one and 2 minutes after i check for my confirmation email and click on the link for the case again and it's on backorder. Crazy

Pretty good screen protector. Takes about a day for the initial resistance to wear off, and it's smooth sailing from there.

[Review] Seidio Active Combo

If you’ve ever been a customer of Seidio before, then you know and expect the quality and craftsmanship that they put into their products. It is my pleasure to write that the Active case and holster combo for the HTC Sensation 4G meets nothing less than these expectations, and offers the level of comfort, protection, and functionality that is desired. As with their past products, Seidio has continued to masterfully craft the Active case to allow for full access to all functionality ports (charging, audio, camera, speakerphone, and buttons) on your device, and have done so without adding unnecessary weight or bulk to the overall feel. Additionally, the case is comprised of Seidio’s traditional soft touch material that is held in place by a heavy duty plastic shell, which maximizes the overall protection of the device and offers an unparalleled shock resistance. The holster is also made of Seidio’s heavy duty plastic, which holds the protected device very snug and safe with the assistance of the high quality clip up top. If you’re in the market for a case that will provide maximum drop protection for your HTC Sensation 4G and feel smoother and more streamlined than anything else currently available, then you can’t go wrong with the Active case and holster combo.
All of Seidio’s products are available at http://www.seidioonline.com/

Looks nice! I like the look of it. Kinda reminds me of a toughbook lol. But I love the look of the combo when put together. I may get a blue one to change it up a bit .
Great review! How does it fit on your belt? I currently have a universal pouch. It works but looks too bulky IMO. Also how hard/easy is it to take off? In case of the dreaded battery pulls for us rom flasher-compulsive types . LOL

It's great when applied to your belt. Very sturdy. I used a universal pouch before too, but this thing blows that out of the water. As far as taking it off, you can do so without even taking the shell off first. Just grab one corner and slide it back. Very easy, but putting it back on does require the soft touch case first then the shell. Doesn't take more than a few seconds though once you get the hang of it and the fit right.
Excellent review (pictures). Personally I love seidio and have used them on all my phones. Looking forward to getting this one.

Thanks for the review.
I was contemplating on getting this one while waiting for Otterbox to release the Defender series on the Sensation.
Will probably get it and then the Otterbox one when it comes out to compare.
Got the same one and I love it. Good thing I have a holster cause the rubber parts is a lint magnet but wipes off easily. I love this case!

I just bought this and since theres no "plastic finger" holding the silicone down on the top by the power button you cant put it back in the holster with one hand. The silicone bunches up so you need to use one hand to hold the clip open and one to put the phone in the holster. I still think its a nice setup but wish there was an extra finger on the top.
Nice review...Seidio has always been a fav!

After using it for a day or two it gets easy to do it all with one hand. Pull the clip up with your little fingers and push the phone in with your index and middle.

Great review, Does it add a lot of thickness to the phone compared to a TPU case?
Ended up ordering this case from ebay because of your review. Also because my brother has had the Active X version on his iPhone 4. He has dropped it more times than he can remember. The case has chipped where it hit and the Zagg was scratched but the iPhone is in pristine condition.
I am extremely pleased with case, Feels great, Sturdy and I feel like it could actually survive a drop now. The only thing I don't like too much is the silicone jacket attracts lint and dust a bit but it doesn't stick to it and I can brush it off or blow it off quite easily. So if you're looking for a case that will protect your investment you won't go wrong here. Doesn't add much bulk to the sleek Sensation 4G.
Overall a great case, With superior protection.
I have this combo as well except in blue. It is very nice but I must agree with the post about wishing it had a hard plastic section on the top front of the case to make it easier to "pop" it into the holster. Can it still be done with one hand? Yes, but not as easily and this has already caused a couple of near drops due to it not clicking in just right.
Overall I'm very pleased but I've also ordered the Trident case to see if that one doesn't have this issue (hopefully it'll fit in my Seidio holster too).
I had one of these on my Droid X and i must say they hold up. took several skips across the concrete. no damage of any kind. think i need to order for my sensation too. cause i'm a auto tech and i always be around dangerous things. great review

I had one of these on my old Evo.The black soft cover is a huge lint/dirt magnet.I couldn't stand it,after about a week of use i threw it away.Frankly i loved everything else about this case, but the lint thing is a deal breaker for me.
i just ordered one off ebay, hopefully i like it. wanted it real bad actually, even though i pre-ordered an otter box case as well.

[Q] Can anyone recommend a TPU case WITHOUT a pattern? Please?

I bought my mom a SGS4G last week (her first smartphone,) and I've been searching EVERYWHERE for a TPU case for it. She just wants something simple, preferably clear or smoke colored, but every one I've found at a reasonable price has a pattern (diamonds, argyle, etc.) Even on eBay, the majority of the TPU cases have some sort of pattern, which is extremely frustrating. I don't understand why, because the SGS4G is a gorgeous device... you would think more cases would be designed that accentuate the design, but that's just not so.
Can anyone recommend a good TPU case that fits well and doesn't have a pattern in it? It doesn't need to be anything fancy, just as long as it fits properly and doesn't have a stupid pattern. A bundle with a screen protector would be nice, but not necessary.
Speaking of, can anyone recommend a good quality screen protector for the SGS4G?
Thanks in advance for any help, I've got a massive headache trying to sort through all the ugly cases.
Smoke TPU: http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Flexi...FU9C04UXZ9&s=wireless&qid=1319269336&sr=1-270
Black TPU: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250784405080&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I just ordered the smoke one last night. The image was different last night when I placed the order. I'm not sure why they keep changing the pictures like that. Weird.
You could also refer to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1040980
Thanks for the link, please post once yours arrives and let me know how it fits! I'll check out the other thread and see what I can find as well.
The guy who originally posted it said it fits great. I'm not too sure about buttons though. I'm really iffy about buttons for TPU cases, since they're usually very difficult to press. The smoke case looks really good though, because the buttons seem to be very distinct (two buttons for volume instead of the usual one).
I bought that same 'smoke' case from eBay. I guess its really iffy on if you get a good one. It isn't exactly a smoked case but more of a hybrid case. Its outer rim is black tpu and the back is a frosted polycarbonate material. There are 2 versions of this case though, the one wirh the covered buttons is the good version. everyone said it had a perfect fit and they absolutely loved it on the vibrant forums and then there's the one where there are cutouts for the buttons. That version, which I unluckily got, SUCKS. The fit was loose, the bezel wasn't fully covered and well eventually it broke . I hope you have a better experience than I did.

I love my Trident Aegis, but its look is getting bad. The matte finish on the plastic is coming off, which makes it look cheap. Kinda disappointing. I really liked the case too. I also snapped the bottom a bit when I was taking it off (although it still all stays well together).
That's very interesting how there would be such a huge difference between the cases. I hope I got a good one then. The one from DayDeal (the one I posted in this thread) looks pretty good. The buttons are protected, but it looks like it would be easier to press than the standard TPU cases.
EDIT:
I just want to note that the IMAGES are different for DayDeal and the other retailers. DayDeal actually has the image as http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/3106XVVkf1L._SL500_AA300_.jpg and http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41k4wppV-9L._AA300_.jpg, while all the other retailers have an image like this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51PiNV1S4zL._SL500_AA300_.jpg.
That might be something important to keep in mind.
EDIT #2:
I think what you're talking about are these cases:
1) http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=45703
2) http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=50098
I'm betting the former is better than the latter.

The case that I got was the one with a black rim and transparent back cover. It feels really durable because of the polycarbonate back, but it makes taking it off a hassle.
With that said, I still love this case. It covers everything perfectly and it keeps the phone slim. The buttons are extremely easy to press as well.

Yeah, mine were covered. I like that the buttons are separated too. I gotta press a bit harder than on my Trident Aegis case, but I guess this will do for now.

Trident Aegis Case for HTC One S

So I received my Trident Aegis Case today and I love it. On the one hand it is bulkier than both the Cimo and Diztronic cases. It doesn't feel as grippy as the Cimo which is what I have been using.
On the other hand the phone feels like it could take a bigger hit. Also, the buttons are a lot easier to press than with a case or even without a case. The power button was a bit of a frustration for me but not so with this case. The cover also has covers for the ports.
To answer another question in another thread, you can attach a lanyard to this case, two little holes on the same side as the volume bar.
I will update when I use it some more to get my impressions for every day use. I took pictures.
It also comes with a screen protector, but I have not used it since I already had a different one on the phone.
Here's a link http://www.tridenteer.com/categories/HTC-ONE-S{47}HTC-VILLE/ It comes in black, blue, green, pink and red.
Just to chime in, I've been using this case for about a week and I can echo that the buttons are MUCH easier to press in this case. It was frustrated with the power button, especially with the D3O case from T-Mobile. This new case is like night and day.
Trident does a really good job of balancing silicone and hard shells so that the phone still has plenty of cushioning in case you drop it while not being too 'sticky' from the silicone. This is a welcome from the typical gel/silicone cases that get caught in your pockets.
I'm really quite gentle on my phones but having this same type of case on my last phone gave me plenty of confidence is not having to baby it. Tossing it around and dropping it doesn't make me even wince anymore. The One S case is no exception.
Love this case! I have the blue one also. Best color imo.
I managed to get a black Trident Aegis off ebay for my phone and so far i'm loving it. Works really well and it's alot easier for me to handle now. As a lefty, I always had issues with the power button but now since it's more prominent, I can reach it pretty quickly.

I received my green aegis awhile back. Love the color and feel of the case. Not bulky and as mentioned earlier, easy to push power and volume buttons easily. (Lefty also)
Only issue I have, and it may not be one, the corners, though covered with the silicone, seem like if I were to drop the phone on a corner, how much impact resistance will it absorb... Again, it may be enough for a normal 3-5 foot drop.. though not willing to test it out intentionally. :cyclops:
does anybody knows if there is a possibility to purchase one of the trident Aegis for my One S in Europe, especialy Germany?
would be very nice.

H.

Depends, it lifted mine a little bit on the bottom of the phone near the capacitive buttons so I just trimmed the next screen protector corners before placing it.
I think this has more to do with the curved glass screen than the screen protector.

How does it look? Can you post some pictures, I am thinking of getting the One S with that case.
im 14 and i dont know if i should get this case or the kraken version i like the kraken because becuase it has a big lift so the screen get scratched which do you think is better
Thanks for the pics, helped me decide to get this case
I want to get this case but at the same time I am very iffy do to the fact that it is sooo bulky, any advice for someone coming from a Diztronic?
personally I prefer no case at all.. besides, from my experience, ONE S is not a easily scratched phone...
putting a case of any sort destroys the original design, this is especially true with iPhone, one of the most beautiful design out there, but 95% covered in a case which then is no prettier then my uncovered ONE S.
just my taste tho
I currently have mine removed, the bulk wasn't really the issue but the silicone made it difficult to slide in and out of my pocket.
I got my case a couple days ago and I love it. its not too bulky imo, it give it more grip for me and I don't feel like im always going to drop it if I grab the phone wrong. I think the case looks great as well (I got the blue one).
Thought I read somewhere that the Trident Aegis case for the One S covers the notification light. Is that true?

You guys can just do what I do and put a dab of loctite gel inside the case where the button sections are. PROBLEM SOLVED!
I had the D30 and a little glue inside and the buttons became easier to press than without a case at all.
Cheers.

SPIGEN Galaxy S4 Neo Hybrid and GLAS.tR SLIM Premium Tempered Glass Review

So after 2 weeks of using this case I have decided to write a review on it. Overall I have to say I like the case when I bought it I had originally ordered the Otter box Defender series. Having bought other cases like the Otter box I knew that it would provide the protection I desired (Kind of a freak about protecting my phone) the only downside is the bulk that was Inherently added to the phone due to the protection being gained I was used to it but decided that making the jump to the S4 from the S2 would make this extra bulk on an already bigger Phone would be more than a little uncomfortable and that’s how I ended up with the SPIGEN Galaxy S4 Neo Hybrid and GLAS.tR SLIM Premium Tempered Glass.
Now the for the case itself there is very little to talk about it does add very little bulk to the phone and covers all of the important parts being the back and corners where as anyone knows that’s dropped their phone disasters happen it adds some weight but seems like it makes the weight more on the outside of the phone as opposed to center heavy.
Overall for the case itself even though it does not provide as much protection as some of the more hefty cases I would be confident in being able to drop my phone and not have any serious harm come to it.
For the screen protector I have mixed feeling not because I’m not confident of what it does far from it. It adds what seems like more sensitivity to the already sensitive screen helps prevent scratches and breaks as well as helps eliminate fingerprints and glare on the screen. What I did not like about it is the extra thickness however makes the home button on the phone kind of hard to hit with your figure because it gets a recessed feeling making the Aluminum Home Button almost a requirement to be able to use your phone with it. The protector was easy to put on although I was not able to get it perfect and there are 1 or 2 micro bubbles that bug me but the instructions said those will go away in a couple days.
Functionality wise this is a winning pair as long as you get the home buttons in my eyes anyway I hope you guys liked the review if there is anything you would like to add
Or change let me know as this is my first am I’m always looking for ways to improve.

woah the screen protector looks thick. wont that easily peel off like the picture with the home button? looks like the end didnt stick that well or is that a reflection since the screen is curved on the edges?
with the screen and case how thick is your phone now compared to a stock one?
I've got the neo hybrid and glass t on mine which is slightly slimmer thatn the glass tr, and don't find the thickness to be a problem. Also, both the case and screen protector came with jelly buttons for the home button to prevent any awckwardfeeling due to the home button being a bit recessed. Did yours not include the jelly buttons?
Only complaint on my part is that the case scuffs easily after a drop and that the buttons are a bit too sensitive.

There is no way this thing is coming off. The only way it will come off is if it cracks from a huge drop and the glas.tr has cracked.

So here's my first review ever on any kind of product. I purchased this OBLIQ case as an alternate backup case. I figure if I'm not going to use it very often, white isn't a bad choice. It looks clean. So let's begin with the package contents; Obliq Xtreme Pro Case, Zeiss Xtreme Anti Shock screen protector, microfiber cleaning cloth, squeegee. All of the items came just as the package had mentioned. The seller I bought it from actually included a free mini stylus.
The screen protector itself felt great. It was thick and firm but soft at the same time. I used it for about a couple of weeks without any issues. After clipping my nails one day, I received a text. Not thinking about anything, I go in and swipe my screen to see who it is. Whoops! I should've checked my finger nails. There was a small enough piece of something on my nail to where the screen protector did what it was supposed to, protect it, and that was the end of that screen protector. It was good while it lasted. I eventually ended up buying a different set. On to the case.
My first impression about it was that it's white and it's going to get dirty quick! Nope. It's actually handled pretty well. I was doing some minor brake bleeding with a friend on his car. I forgot to change my case to the UAG before I headed out. I gave up on trying to keep it clean. My hands weren't as dirty as doing major engine work where they would be all greasy but it was definitely something where I should've washed my hands before picking up my phone. I left quite a dirty streak on the side of the case and was worried. I figure that if there's a bad enough mark on it, I have acetone at home that should clear it right up. I go and wash my hands very thoroughly and grab the phone case. I take the case and I just rub it down with my hands. It wiped off immediately! I don't know what this case is made out of exactly but it didn't stay dirty for long. I was impressed with how clean it got without having to exactly "wash" it. There is an issue of trying to remove the case. It fits so snug that to take it off, I start at the top and poke my finger through the camera hole to push it out. I suppose that's not a bad thing though. The volume and unlock screen buttons are very hard to press. It's hard to figure out if you've pressed it or if you need to again.
Overall I am fairly impressed with the construction of this case. The worst thing I could find about it, is that the side buttons are hard to actuate. There's no definitive "click" when you press it. This is a tad bit smaller than my UAG case and I switch back and forth pretty frequently. I hope this helps your search for a new case!
how is the black rubber compared to the UAG? Is the OBLIQ's rubber softer or harder? Is it worth getting since I already have a UAG? (i.e. is the Obliq better?)

The obliq definitely has a better rubber compound. it's stiffer and more defined as where the UAG is soft and "flimsy." it's not terrible but it does have quite a bit of play. the feel of the obliq is better but the buttons suck.
the Obliq buttons look smaller than the UAG. combined with the stiffer rubber i'm not surprised the Obliq's buttons are harder to press.

I have used a gun metal colour version for over a month and the buttons do get better over time. You can feel a definite click on mine now.

wow, after this whole time of using this, i've just realized something. if you run this case without the battery cover, the buttons work very good! ... just an update
