Mac Outlook 2011 Calendar Sync PLEASE!!! - Android Apps and Games

I've been scouring the web for months to find a solution to sync my Mac Outlook 2011 calendar to my phone or gCal but all I've come up with is a whole bunch of threads saying it can't be done. I've tried everything I can as a non-developer and made no progress. And so I turn to the interminably tenacious folks here at XDA for help.
Does anyone know of, or would anyone be willing to develop, an app to do this? I don't care if it's OTA or USB, manual or automatic. I just need to get my calendar from Outlook 2011 to my phone some way, somehow.
I suppose everyone expects the Mac faithful to be devout iPhone users but you couldn't pay me enough to carry that slab of crap. I love my DInc, love my Skyraider Athena and I refuse to accept that I can't do something this simple.
Please help!!!

I'm pretty sure google can import ical files.
When I added the Yankees spring training schedule to my google account calendar, it was an ical file.
I think it was an .ips file, I'm not 100% sure though, as I don't use Macs.

Hi.
Use Syincmate app!

Syincmate does not sync with Office 2011! I'm having the same issue as well as a friend of mine. Would be really great if we could get some sort of plugin or something.
Thanks!

I agree. Sync software for Android, Mac & Outlook is desperately needed!

I Agree, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

Sony Ericsson Sync

Hi All,
Got my x10 a few weeks ago... Love it...! far better than my laggy WoeMo Diamond I've been battling with for the past year or so...
Anyway, I've given Google Sync a go, and while it's ok, it's really only good for calendar... Correction: it's only good for calendar full stop.
Sony Ericsson Sync looks like it might do the trick, but I don't have the program on my x10 - it looks like it was removed by my operator or something (I understand VHA have removed it worldwide, but dunno why - theory is that they want you to use some stupid web portal of theirs, which I understand is equally sucky)
So, to cut a long story short, can anyone send me the *.apk file for it - I've trawled the web, but can't find it anywhere...
Before anyone starts ranting about piracy, and this is not the forum for it, I'm only asking for something that should be on my phone in the first place... There are plenty of other forums I can go to for pirate software, but XDA is the only one for good honest support...
Thanks
k1sr
Ive had no problems google syncing contacts..? Sorry dont have the sony apk to help ya!

Yeah, Google sync is ok, really, but you can't auto sync with your outlook contacts, and it doesn't sync pictures... I guess I'm really keen to try the SE Sync before I purchase one of the available syncing apps.
Mods I hope this is okay since it is a program that should be on the phone as standard. If I am breaking fora rules please delete this post and I apologise.
k1sr: The apk file you are looking for (Sony Ericsson Sync) is attached below. Hope it works out for you. I got it from my SD card folder /system/apps

Although just tried to install, and it's reporting that apparently I need something else for it to launch: se.tactel.android.sync.service
Sorry mate. I think you'll need someone a little more phone savvy than myself to help you with that one. I had a good look through phone files and so on but I can't seem to figure out what it is that you need that I could extract and send.

Yeah, it's a little odd, as it seems that the file it's telling me it can't find is the same as the one you gave me...
Although with a bit of a search, there seems to be the following services which might also be needed:
se.tactel.PNPWizard and
se.tactel.android.sync (without the .service on the end)
If you've got any idea how to pull those off your phone, that would be awesome...!
If not, you've been a big help anyway - thanks!
I think that reloading the firmware will do the trick
Not quite ready to go down the debranding path yet, so exhausting my options first...

Kind of forget it.
I managed to export a vcard file from SE's homepage. So i have all my contacts but it would be nice to keep syncing new contacts.
What's wrong with google sync? It works perfectly for me, syncs all my contacts AND their respective pictures...
You should look into that... I'm sure its the very best syncing option available...

Iv used it but don't know how to get contacts from it when the phone is all clean.... It seems like its uploading the contacts but don't know to where...
Just FYI, Outlook can be synced with Google. Export the contact data from Outlook as .csv then import it in Google.
Afterwards, just sync Google with your phone.
Probably pretty late addition to this... but similar to the original post I could use a SE Sync apk... not because the Google one isn't good (because it is) but because SE backed up my things before I started using Google, and now need to retrieve a number from the sync.
You can kind of do it online, but I found a problem where if you used non-standard fields, then online you can't see them.... like I can't see a name of someone I'm looking for, but I know the contact worked on the phone. It's frustratin and not the end of the world, would just be nice to have the option to install the SE software on the SE phone.

[Q] Nuevasync not free anymore

Hi friends,
today is a very sad day!
I just received a mail that anounced "New Services" on nuevasync.com.
http://blog.nuevasync.com/blog/nuevasync/entry/new_services
http://www.nuevasync.com/nuevasync-personal.html
If you don't switch to the Basic 15$/yr / Premium 30$/yr Service it will stop syncing.
We have 5 days to switch to an alternative Service (web-based or installed Application).
Well i used nuevasync for syncing 9 GoogleCalendars and my Contacts to my TouchHD and everything works great.
Now I'm on a search for an alternative solution to get this job done.
I so far found ActiveGcSync. But I have to say it crashes pretty much, so it's no fun.
Do you have any other proposals?
kind regards
fwt
I'm in the same boat, just recently started using it again and was happy with it.
Not happy they have decided to stop being free (but that happens) and even worse only gave five days notice.
Not sure what to use instead... I'd pay $15 for life, but not each year.
anybody no of any alternatives, because I want to sync my contacts and multiple calendars to my windows mobile phone
The same here, I'm syncing contacts and 4 calendars at the moment. Any alternativies?
any word on alternatives?
I'm hoping this thread holds some hope:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793683
Until then, I am using gmobilesync, doesn't do contacts but that's fine for me.
I'm currently working on an alternative service. I dont have too much time to work on it, but I have some great ideas. If anyone wants to help me, feel free to join!

I tried gmobilesync but it double all my events. I think I will stay with normal sync described: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
but I will need to copy events I need to have in phone to my main calendar :/

I've never experienced doubling up (touch wood), had you already synced up?
As my main calendar is used very little compared to our shared one, I'm not going down the copying route.

Thank you for your help. I wrote a small exchange server which can synchronize my google calendar with my phone. It was easier than I thought. I dont know how much work it needs but I think I can publish it in 1-2 weeks. Meanwhile you can write your ideas here. If anyone could lend me a server for this, that would be awesome.

Sorry, no programming capabilities, nor a server I can share.
However, some ideas:
- Ability to pick which calendars sync
- Ability to pick sync schedule (or always connected or only manually)
- Two way syncing (can't get gmobile syncing to go from WM to google), keeping to the correct calendar.
- Ability to pick one way syncing (either way required)
- Ability to pick the default calendar (for me, this is a shared family calendar, not my main google calendar).
- Ability to pick colours for each calendar (or take the same colours as set in google).
I may come up with other ideas, but that seems to be it for now. Personally I am not interested in syncing contacts or email. Contacts I want to keep separate from those I call and those I email, email works better on imap than activesync.

New Member...Mytouch 4G Exchange Email Problems

First off I want to say Merry Christmas to everyone....I need help and since Tmobile is almost in possible to reach anymore I turned to the forums...I got my Mytouch 4G when it first came out and I love it!!!! First phone I ever had with NO LAG at all...But I cant send emails with the Exchange Email program? I heard everyone is having this problem? Does anyone have a fix for this yet? PLEASE PLEASE help !!!!...
Thanks, Ken
My Exchange ActiveSync account works fine here and has since I got the phone a few days after release. I also use EAS for my Google Apps account on my MT4G.
What happens when you try to send? Do you get some sort of error, or does the email sit in your outbox, or get saved to drafts?
Likely it's a problem with the Exchange settings on your phone or your organization's Exchange configuration. Best bet would be to talk to your Exchange admin.
When I send an email it doesnt show in my sent box or my outbox it just disappears from my phone and it never reaches the person im sending it to..I heard HTC knows of the problem but I called there and got no help like they didnt know anything about it...I heard its something to do with the Active Exchange 2010...I guess the Iphones had the same like problem but Apple fixed it already..I can do anything with the email except SEND.....Sucks bad cause i need it for work
Oh man, I forgot about that bug...I had a couple clients whose iPhones didn't work with their Exchange servers until iOS 4.1 was released.
I just tested with an Exchange 2010 server and am experiencing the same issue as you. As far as I can tell, there are 2 workarounds, one you can implement and one your Exchange admin can implement:
1) Install the default Google email app from 2.2. It works properly with Exchange 2010. You will lose search capability for your Exchange mailbox(es) with this, though. Here's a thread where someone posted the apk. I tested it out and it works for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729753
Alternatively, you could pay for and install the Touchdown app from the market. Personally, I'm not a big fan of it.
2) Your exchange admin can create a new EAS policy for you (it can be exactly the same as the default if that's what is being used):
http://social.technet.microsoft.com...0/thread/bcc50ce4-0c97-4851-987d-1f5080d7942b
Please note that I attempted this with the 2010 testbed server I have access to and it did not work. However, this server does not have Exchange 2010 SP1 installed. I can't install the SP to this VM until my coworker is done using it for testing, so I can't tell you if this workaround works properly for our devices.
Good luck...sorry for doubting you, I forgot I was still using my phone with 07 servers.
Thats more than a bug....lol...But Thank you I will look into this

[Q] Is the email app really this bad? Might have to return my Xoom

Firstly, let me say that I really like the Xoom, so please don't accuse me of trolling.
But I can't believe how poor the email app is. I set it up with my Exchange server and there are 3 issues.
1. Folders are flattened out. Not too big of a deal, I could probably live with it.
2. No IRM support. Sort of a problem, I *might* be able to live with.
3. This is the big one: replies don't quote enough headers and so all the context in an email thread is lost. I seriously can't believe that a modern email app would be this pathetic. All it shows is "foo <[email protected]> wrote:" and then the quoted text. No sent time, no other recipients, no subject... SERIOUSLY? How on earth can Google or Motorola or whoever think that this would not be needed, especially for an ENTERPRISE email scenario like Exchange?
I'm hoping I am missing something. I tried K-9 but it doesn't support Exchange 2010. I know there are other clients I could buy but if I had to pay extra for an email client just to get usable email support I will probably just return the tablet.
Extremely disappointing. Maybe I am missing something?
There are a bunch of email apps in the market. Try another one that suits your needs.

k9 is a good email app
try touchdown and see if it's any better.
"IRM is a feature unique to Windows Mobile" - Windows Developer Blog
Though it is an old article, I don't think iPhone supports it either BBos 6 MIGHT
Use Touchdown. UI is not pretty but I think it would cover your needs.
Another vote here for Touchdown. It is definetly not very pretty but I use it on my phones and now on my Xoom. It provides really great integration with exchange and Active Sync. Its one of the only ways you can get tasks synced to a mobile device. I will say that I have been switching back to the honeycomb email client recently just because it looks sloop much nicer though
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
I know you would like the stock client to better suite your needs but thats where the term "there's an app for that" came from. Try Touchdown, it should be what you're looking for.

Yes you are missing something. When you purchase Windows 7 it comes with Windows Live Mail. While WLM probably handles e-mail better than the native google mail client in honeycomb I would imagine that it would not synch your exchange mail store and you would end up purchasing Outlook 2010 or a similar exchange compatible client.
In this regard, I feel like the client while missing a couple features that it *should* have is still good enough.
If you want a full featured exchange client for your android, I would recommend looking at Touchdown or K9.

great feedback and suggestions all. I tried tiuchdown and agree it would'probably serve my needs.
Ultimately though I decided I can create some browser favorites and use OWA. Glad I can keep my Xoom!

Uneditable contacts sync with hotmail for android...?

I've been using Hotmail since 1999 and recently I downloaded Hotmail for android app. Everything was smooth until I tried to enter a new contact, where I found that I cannot do that. Partially I mean. I can only enter the name field and nothing else. I cannot edit the synced contacts too.
because HTML mail was not possible with the default mail app in android and exchange in Hotmail, I used to forward my mail to Gmail and use the Gmail app.
I was very joyed with this app release and now facing this bug.
I googled but couldn't find any solution or similar bug reports.
Am I the only unlucky person or others have this problem too. I'd there any fix for this.
I have already tried removing and re-adding, uninstall and reinstall.
I am using cm7 on my wildlife.
Thank you in advance.

You are not alone! Still looking for a solution myself.
Have you tried using another email client and signing in through it?
Same problem here. Hotmail worked great through Activesync on Android, but this app is much nice. But contacts edit is not working at all !! And not found any fixes thus far.
-sony xperia arc w/stock kernel
Still to fix
Sorry to say that I am having the same issue. Have to been able to find a fix. Please let all know if anyone can figure this out.
Thanks.
Same problem here
I too have the same problem. I erased everything, tried with another gmail account, made sure to not sync anything with gmail, with no avail. This is a huge bug.
Response from Hotmail
So I contacted Hotmail about this issue. Here was there response:
"We aplogoize for the inconvenience that this may have caused you. Please understand that the ability to edit contacts on Hotmail app for Android phones is currently not available. However, our product team was already aware of it and a fix is being considered.
Thanks,
Windows Live"
Hopefully this fix will be soon.

No HTML mail with exchange on my Wildfire....
I'm looking for a solution to this one too. The Hotmail app is actually pretty good, but the inability to edit contacts is an odd bug.
Solution
I tried Contact Editor Free by dmfs in the Market. It lets you edit the hotmail contacts and sync them back up.
I've only tested it for about a minute, but it seems to work.
I gotta tell you.
I've done a research. Microsoft is aware of the issue since about November/December 2011. SEVEN (the actual manufacturer) confirms it and reports work in progress (in February/March?), an update to the app has been issues by the end of February but the issue has not been addressed and has not yet been resolved.
I used Microsoft's support forums to ask the question, how to sync the contacts then, if nothing works as intended.
One of forum's moderators confirmed the issue, another asked how did I exactly try to sync.
If you would be kind enough to visit the question page yourselves and click "I have that question too", I'd be thankful. Maybe they'd actually do something instead of constantly apologizing and confirming either the issue or the progress of the works...
I tried Contact Editor Free by dmfs in the Market like Joe USer and works ok

worked for me.
Don't know why I never noticed this before when I was using my Galaxy S2 but it hit me today on my Nexus 4. I was trying to find out why Bluetooth handsfree calling through my Garmin wasn't working and it is because the Garmin has all my contacts showing last name first even though they aren't presented that way on the phone. When I tried to view the contact directly through the Contacts app, I saw that it was showing last name first and I couldn't edit the contact to try and fix it.
We are what, over a year since this was first recorded here and still no fix other than a third party app? This wasn't an issue on my BlackBerry.
On top of that, it makes handsfree unusable since there seems to be no way to get the contacts to list with the first name first. The contacts are all fine on Outlook.com so something is getting messed up with how they are presented in Android.
