was wondering if anyone has it on their tab. If so can u post how
Works fine on my GTablet running Vegan Beta 5.1 (worked on Beta 4 as well as far as I can remember)
I don't think I had to do anything to get it to work...
If it isn't showing up, then I think you just need to enable Instant Search on your Google Profile (it's under settings)
i'm running vegan 5.1 and can't find it anywhere in settings. it's on my chrome browser and on my nexus s. i went from beta 3 to beta 5. did i miss some important fixes in between
Under Settings, select "Search", then "Google Search"
You should see a "Show web suggestions" checkbox. Make sure it is selected...
Otherwise, you can try going to the Google homepage in the browser, click on the settings link, and make sure Instant Search is turned on from there...
Do you have the latest Google Search app installed? Or are you using the default "Search" app? You may have to update it via the Market...
working on mine too.
I tried the latest Vegan and CM 6.2 ROMS and I wasn't able to install a working official Yahoo Messenger with the video call.
I also force install it by downloading the APK of the yahoo messenger and the video call update apk. It installed but it didn't work.
I want to know if this will work since I still have time to return this g-tablet to Sears.
PS: what's the best Facebook app with widget support for the g-tab?
I was able to install Messenger and the video plugin from market this weekend, no problem.
Fyi, on Gtab-to-pc calls the video on the pc end was rotated 90 degrees.

I was able to install yahoo messenger just fine through the market. I just tested video calling and the PC user was able to see me just fine with no rotation issue. I'm using vegan b5.1 which also has the gsensor fix. I wonder if that fixes the rotation issue people may be having.

Hi,
That's both weird and good news ...
As mentioned above, I was on stock 3053 at the time, no gsensor fix, so it's possible what you said.
There's a thread under Apps about video calling:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882637&highlight=video
and can I suggest you post that info there? Seemed like a few people interested in it.

I tried..
I can't see the official yahoo messenger app on the market so I downloaded the apks online instead.. I Installed them. I lauched it but then it says that the app is outdated and it redirected me to the market but that link to the market wont show anything since not all apps will show on the gtab.
Didn't work on CM6.2 either.
Sounds like you need to do the market fix. Yahoo messengers is one of the apps I check to verify if the market fix was applied correctly or not.

I thought market is fixed once I install third party ROM such as vegan or CM.
Problem Solved!
Part Three – Install Flash and fix Android Market
This is needed to view websites with Flash based content, and to download apps from the market. (Fairly obvious, I know, but just in case somebody doesn't know.) Log in/set up your Google Account before trying the market fix (steps vary on the ROM you are using…in most cases you can access the web accounts by opening the Contacts app, pressing the menu button (the one above the back button), and selecting accounts).
Step 1.
Download “Adobe Flash Player 10.1.120.1.apk” which you will find attached at the bottom of this post and save it on your tablet (I recommend creating a separate folder to save .apk files in).
Step 2.
On your tablet open up whatever file explorer comes pre-installed with the ROM you’ve selected. In there, open up where you saved your .apk, then select Adobe Flash Player, and follow the on screen instructions to finish installing that.
Step 3.
Open the Market app. Once it loads close it (press the home button).
Step 4.
Go into Settings – Applications – Manage Applications – Google Services Framework – Force Stop – Clear Data
Step 5.
Go into Settings – Applications – Manage Applications – Market – Force Stop – Clear Data
Step 6.
Go back to your home screen and open up the market. You should get an error. If not, redo steps 3 and 4 until you do.
Step 7.
Reboot your device. After it starts back up let it sit for a minute or two to let things in the operating system normalize. Open the Market. Reboot your device.
Step 8.
Open the market again and enjoy. You now have Flash and the Android Market. (Keep in mind, this is not the FULL market, it just makes around 99% of it available. It is unknown which apps are not available. There is a full market fix, but it is MUCH more complicated).

I followed this and everything is working fine now...
Thank for the help..
-- just clicked all the "THANKS" button!
Although I applied the market fix previously. I searched for yahoo messenger again on the market and didnt find it. I had to reapply the fix once again for it to show.
After the awesome fix POST # 11... the Gtab with the latest TnT and unlock market worked for a day and started me giving pop up errors every app click/open.. The virtual keyboard isn't showing up also. I got pissed and returned it to Sears..
Now CES 2011 is showing me so many cool honeycomb tablets, it must be a blessing in disguise.
Hey all,
Been wondering about this problem or glitch for a while. Whenever I perform a search on Google Play, scroll down, click an app, check out its details, maybe download if I like it and then press the back button to continue looking at other apps within my search criteria I am always forced at the top of the search results and have to scroll all the way down to where I left off. So basically my "place holder" in the search results get deleted, cleared or whatever you want to call it. However when I go into Google Play and go to Apps > Categories > Games > Top Free and scroll through, click on an app then press back it saves my place so I don't have to go through all the other apps that I had already viewed.
Does anyone experience this? It only happens on my personal searches and NOT when I go into categories or pretty much anything EXCEPT personal search. Maybe I am crazy but this has always happened to me even on my older SGS Captivate, on rooted and on non-rooted phones and the same results on my Skyrocket. My Google Play version is 3.4.4 running on rooted stock 2.3.5 Skyrocket.
Does anyone else experience this problem?
Here is Google Now for armv6 devices running ice cream sandwich, which I found HERE all credit goes to the developer on that thread.
I've tested it on ADLX's port of Cyanogenmod 9, and it does work. However, it works differently than it would on a Jelly Bean device.
Issues:
The realtime "voice typing" doesn't work, it won't even try and listen to you speaking! - Workaround is to install an APP which uses "Voice Search" from google play (details below)
Sometimes the web results comes up blank - Workaround is to force stop Google Search and it's fixed (until it does it again)
Installation:
Flash THIS in Clockworkmod Recovery
Reboot
Install THIS app to use the voice search feature
Enjoy
To use the voice search, you need to open the "Voice Search For Google Now" app which you installed on step 3. NOT Google Now.
Also after speaking, you will need to press the "Enter" key on the keyboard to complete the voice search
It's not perfect, but it's definitely better than the stock ICS google search, with or without voice search
UPDATE: Also works on CM10!
Awesome! I'll link to that in the OP+1 (First comment) of the CM9 thread
More details on what version of Clockworkmod that is, and what's changed about it would be nice, but otherwise, good work!

and I'm not the developer of it, so I don't know what's changed, I'd go to the official thread for that

New link for the GoogleNowVoiceSearch.apk please
Dear Nexus 5 Users,
I was trying to use Google Now Cards here in Sri Lanka, but I could not enable or even the option did not showed up.
Then, I tried to push an old update of Google Search and then updated via the Play Store, IT WORKED.
Please do the following if you have problems with Google Now Cards.
Disclaimer - I am not responsible for lags, bricks or any sort of bad happened to your device.
1. Unlock Bootloader and Root your device. Follow THIS link.
2. Install Titanium Backup. Here is the Playstore Link -> Titanium Backup
3. Download an older version of Google Search app. I prefer downloading 2.6.7 update. Here is the Link -> Google Search 2.6.7, store it into phone sdcard, later we will be using it.
Now do this patiently.
4. Install a 3rd party launcher and make as the default one. I prefer the Epic Launcher which goes close to the stock. Playstore Link -> Epic Launcher
5. Go to Titanium Backup App and search for Google Search app. The update should be 3.1.xx.. Take a Titanium backup of that app and Un-install it.
6. After uninstalling, install the Google Search 2.6.7 update which is on your sdcard. [Step 3]
7. Now go to Playstore and Search for Google Search and update it.
That's it. After updating your left swipe Google Now will be enabled.
Check the screenshot Ive attached which has the Google Now On/Off toggle, with default I did not have that option, after doing this process it appeared.
Cheers :good::good:
Alternate method, without rooting phone
1. Remove sim card and turn airplane mode;
2. Download free fake GPS Application
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lexa.fakegps
3. Choose the position where Google now is supported. Example New York, and touch Set Location, You must allow mock locations in developers section;
4. Settings .. Wifi .. Touch&Hold on SSID you are connected .. Advanced Settings .. Proxy Manual Mode .. Enter Proxy Server IP Address and Port (For proxy servers address, google it, or pm).
5. Reboot phone;
6. Touch Google Search Bar .. Settings .. Accounts & privacy .. Google Account .. Sign Out;
7. Disable Google Play Service application. Before you need uninstall update and disconnect Android Device Manager.
8. Touch Google Search Bar .. Settings .. Accounts & privacy .. Google Account .. Choose your gmail address; Agree with prompt, touch "I'am In". Activate Google Play Service application
Congratulations, now you have Google Now service activated. If you turn it off, then you need same procedures again.
9. You can remove Proxy servers address from Wifi settings, disable mock locations also and uninstall fake gps app if you want.
Many thanks to RaouF Ouacher from google groups forum. for provided such information. Sorry for my English.

Sadly it did not work either but I'm on an S3... Google now cards are no longer showing up no matter what I do. Maybe I'll try the GPS spoof trick.
You don't need root/ or to spoof GPS for this. (GPS spoofing doesn't affect location information anyway)
You need an internet connection for this Wifi/ or mobile internet.
Step 1: Disable Google Play Services (you'll have to uninstall updates first to see the disable button on some devices)
Step 2: goto Settings > Account > Google > Search and Logout and then Log back in. (It will ask you to turn on now cards here > select Yes)
Google now should be enabled now.
Step 3: enable Google Play Services
Tested on Nexus 5, Moto G, Galaxy S4
NOTE: If you have a message saying "there was a problem communicating with google servers" you'll have to clear app data and cache of your google search. THIS WILL CAUSE YOUR HOME SCREEN TO GO BACK TO DEFAULT if you're using GEL (i.e. NEXUS5)
This has been now checked by multiple people and is 100% working

What do you mean by shipping cards? This is for people who don't have Google now at all because of their location.
Thanks to the OP, this method still works if anyone was wondering but it seems that you need to use the Google search app mentioned in the post or older as I used 2.7.. that I had backed up previously but it still didn't allow me to enable Google Now due to my location. Also it doesn't have to be a nexus 5, I've just enabled it on a nexus 7 so it might work on any device

Yes, I did disable Google Play services. I got the network error message, so I deleted the Google Search app data and cache too.
What happens is that no matter how many times I try to log-out and log-in with my account (in the Google Search settings) afterwards, I am not asked to enable Google Now, so it's not available for me. The switch to enable Google Now in the Search settings does not exist.
I assume at least part of my problem is due to the Location services, they cannot be enabled where I live... Is there any workaround for this? Or if the problem is somewhere else, could someone point out - where exactly?
Thanks!

Yeah this is the only work around for the play services location not available. When play services is disabled Google search can't check your location so that's why this works.
However there was an update to Google search 2 says ago so I haven't tested this after that.

Hey, you know how I got it working? I went abroad, to a country that obviously supports the location logging, and the option to activate Google Now, appeared Luckily it didn't disappear when I returned home. I hope that Google don't "fix" this bug.
Thanks... managed to get the cards enabled following this..
The only difference is that I had to enable the cards prior to updating back to Search 3.x... otherwise it did not give me the option to enable Google Now after!
thanks buddy

Yes, this method don't need root, I mean I don't want to try other method that need root.
And what you have mentioned is my question, it's about ways to disable "Google Play Service".
I can't do it because the option to disable it is not enable.

Google Play Services is many different things. It's location services, auto syncs etc.
I don't think you would want to completely disable it.
