[Q] HTC Evo 4G Rooting - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hey i got an HTC Evo for christmas and now im interested in rooting it. Ive read some stuff about and i was wondering what is the best way to root my phone and how to prevent myself from bricking it? My evo is running froyo 2.2 and has a software number 3.70.651.1. Hopefully someone can give me info and help me.

I don't have all the info right now but the best way to learn things like that is to use google or search the forums. There is a thriving community in the EVO section of xda. And just so you know, android phones are very very hard to brick, there is 99% of the time a way to fix any problems with it not booting.

[Q] Metro PCS: 2.2?

Here's one for ya! I went to a communications store and had my service and EVO 4g switched to Metro PCS. Little did I know they would have to root my phone to do this. They should have told me this. Anyway, they had to revert back to android 2.1 and needless to say I lost all the things I bought this phone for. Is there anyway to get android 2.2 back on my EVO and still have metro PCS service which works fine but keeps coming up with (htc.dbs) or whatever errors?? HHEEEELLLLLPPPPPP!!!
you know, I don't know why it is so hard to get a reply on this site. what is this a$$holeville and if you have a peni$ you dont fit in. Or is my question not developer savvy enough??? All I was seeking is a simple answer to a question, if it is possible or not!!!. Thats ok, there are other forums. A whole lot friendly'er too. You here are too high and mighty, full of yourselves. Have fun together. And I dont care if I get kicked off XDA, at least I know what the a stands for!!!!
Probably nobody knows the answer to your question dude calm down.

Did you really just make this thread?
Can this be deleted and can we all just act like this didnt just happen?
Thanks.
Yea we do
Noob. Paying good money for a phone. No one has the right to restrict us from anything. we would like to optimise the software, tweak it, overclock it and strip it from bloatware.
Like I said to Htc. I paid for the phone, whether I break it, piss on it, root it, **** on it. Have sex with it, drive over it, bake it. It's my f*ckin phone to do what I like with. Do I want root.

or better yet dont look on these forums?
Come on guys, dont feed the troll. Its just what he wants you to do.
I'm no developer nor expert on rooting, flashing (well, not the phone kind lol) or programming, but i do understand why i'm looking forward to the unlocked bootloader on Sensation! I'm still delaying my upgrade so i can get this dual-core beast and give thanks that these guys can help me to get the best from a £500 phone! Only adding my £0.02, but not sure this was a wise thread to start. (scratching head)

It's pointless threads like these that simply clog up the forums.
Thread CLOSED. PLEASE STOP POSTING THREADS ABOUT THE LACK OF DEVELOPMENT.

Welcome im using evo 4g. Ive been rooting, bricking, unbricking, bricking again...0.o... since the hero came out. But never registered my account. Graveyard includes the following: Droid X, Droid X2, HTC Hero 2 of them... and Evo 4G (on my second one)
I am new to this site, but have been a phone junkie for years. I got the Droid Incredible the day it was released and flashed about every custom ROM ever dumped on the internet. Getting excited about getting my 10th post in so I can talk on the developer forums. Welcome to me and other newbies!
Welcome, I use the Nexus S 4G, before that the EVO 4G. Hope you use/enjoy the site to its fullest potential.

[Q] HELP!

Hi guys.
I'm very new to Android and i found out you can root your phone. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-19100T. It is running Android 4.0.3.
I tried to look @ the videos on how to root but they're too confusing for me. I don't know how to do this stuff because im not a computer expert. There are rooting videosbut they are mostly for ameican phones and ones that run Android 2.3.6 gingerbread. Please help me by showing how to root my phone. Please make it easy to understand!
Note: I live in Australia and i am using the Vodafone network.
Safely rooting a device and safely USING a rooted device takes a certain amount of tech savvy that the average smartphone buyer does not possess. I'm not saying you don't, but just wanted to throw that out there before you get in over your head.
What is the reason you want to root your SGS2? If it's simply because it's the "cool" thing to do, then I highly suggest you don't.
To put it bluntly, the common wisdom is that if you're not tech savvy enough to follow a simple rooting guide, then you probably have no business having root access on your device. Hope that doesn't come across as rude....just trying to provide some guidance to a self-described novice.
