Always Keep Application Open in Background - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Friends,
I would like to figure out how to keep an application always running in the background on Android 2.2, regardless of the memory situation on the device. The application I never want to close in the background is the Terminal Emulator (the Linux command prompt).
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to keep an application from closing in the background? Thank you!

I have the same question and looked through the market and couldnt find anything

Go Launcher Ex lets you "lock" apps so Android won't shut 'em down when it runs low on memory.

how can I do this without Go LAuncher Ex?

Question about widgets - task manager and stocks tracking?

is there any honeycomb friendly task manager or stock tracking Widgets?
I like to put them on the home screen but the ones I found are quite small for use on tablets.
I have never used a stock widget. As for the task manager, you don't need one. Android manages task on its own. If you happen to get a stuck app, go to settings, apps, manage apps, then find the app and stop it.

I know that's the argument about android task manage in a perfect world.
However, in actual usage I get STUCKED apps all the time. For example, if I don't disconnect from team viewer before jumping to another it gets stuck... This make it very cumbersome to go to settings app all the time.
I really need something on the home screen to kill these sticker apps.

Use Active Apps. It doesn't manage or autokill, just a widget that gives you a list of running apps and lets you close one or all with a single button. Very easy.
As for a stock ticker widget....I would love to find one too. Can't imagine there isn't one out there somewhere.

[Q] Widget Locker into the systems?

I'm using Widget Locker. Nice app. However it's annoying me because its process not running in the back ground (like system files) but instead running like an app. So everytimes I go to "task manager" to clear running app in the background. I can't just clear all to save my baterry. It will close Widget Locker (i have manually close one by one app). Is there a way to integrate it to system files so I won't see it in the "Task Manager".
Hope you understand what i'm trying to say
Happy Friday...
Try an app from the market called Watchdog. It is a really good app that lets you real time see processes and cpu usage and it will alert you on thresh holds of over usage. You can individually kill those processes which may be inadvertently over using your phone and eating up your battery. Task killers just blanketly kill apps and processes. Some of which restart right back up chewing up you cpu and also wasting precious battery. So doing this continuously will just overwork and kill your usage time on the phone. If you precisely pinpoint the app causing issues you can leave the phone to manage the application as it is designed to do and also you may notice other regularly used apps opening quicker and more responsive. Give it a try and keep us posted.

I'm using Go Launcher. It has a built in task manager that also allows you to lock app so you don't close them by accident. Have my Widget Locker app Locked. Hope this helps also. And I think this should be in the Q&A Section.

Ics update bugs

I have recently updated my GT-p6200 to ICS(Hate it) and found lots of bugs.
1. Message Icon in the home screen is showing 1 unread message without any unread one (The Menu Message icon is Normal) , when i restart all backs to normal. Please hit a solution for me.
2. I had Chrome like New tab feature with fav sites widgets in my old gingerbread browser and this ICS browser is normal, Any thing can be done for this?
3. It hangs a lot when many apps are opened simultaneously even when Ram is free.
4. Everytime I come back to Homescreen after closing any app it take time to come to normal ,it seems like it refreshes everytime. Please give some solution at-least for the first question as it is the most irritating one.
5.Do someone have detail explanation for developer option s in settings.
Please reply with solutions.
Thanks
1. You might have killed the process using some task manager. Not sure. If you're gonna use Nova at number 4, try Tesla Unread Plugin.
2. Download Chrome Browser
3. You may have an app or some apps that causes lag. In my experience, playing some huge games while doing other stuffs(e.g. Browser, Slices, and etc.) did not lag at all. Investigate as to which app is causing the intensive usage of your CPU.
4. Change the stock Launcher to either Apex or Nova. There are others too like Go Launcher HD for Pad and etc. I personally recommend Apex or Nova. Make sure to make it as default and keep in memory for less withdraws. Also you might be using the built-in task manager to kill all apps at once, this apparently also kills the stock launcher if you are not on the homescreen or app drawer. Same goes even for other launchers. Avoid using that without being on the homescreen.
5. Google that.
Hi
Could someone also check if the front camera is downgraded to 0.3 megapixel?
Mine says 640x480 after official ics update, philippines
Tnx

[Q] App Manager

Hi all,
I have an application that runs perfect, however when i exit the application it stops running.
I would like to keep it running in the background while i do other things, does anyone know of an app/task manager, that would allow me to do that?
Essentially something that would keep the app running in the background.
Thanks,

[Q] Android 4.2.1 - Background processes keep running :(

Hi
I need some information regarding Android. I am using Huawei Ascend G610-U20 with Android version 4.2.1
I was using stock ROM and stock theme. No launcher installed and no themes used. When i touch and hold the menu button (one of three main buttons, return-home-menu) i am given the list of applications running in background. I quit the application which i am not using so that it doesn't hog in memory and keep eating the battery. I only keep phone and text in use. Otherwise once i have used the app, i exit it from the background running processes.
Recently i installed Dodol launcher. It is running fine and nothing wrong. Just when i press-hold menu button i see no applications running in background (because i have exited all the apps from background) but when i go to launcher and click "running" apps it shows me a huge list of apps running in background. I click on broom icon to clear them. It does but they again appear after few moments. They keep using the RAM. SOMETIMES my phone become too sluggish when i am typing in Viber or even Text app.
Why is this difference? That i exit the app from menu-hold but in launcher it shows apps running. Can anyone please guide me.
I will be very thankful to you.
Regards
Awais.
