If you only see a black screen you can still flash, just connect to the PC, open RSDLite, if the phone isn't there just use the power button till it appears.
If you are in a bootloop on bootanimation you need to do a full wipe, just press VOLDOWN+POWER till you see the greenandroid and then press VOLUP+VOLDOWN to access the menu.
If you only the white and black moto logo you need to flash boot_only.sbf

SORRY FOR BAD LANGUAGE...but i really realy realy need help

hi all,
heres the deal. i rooted my defy with superoneclick, it worked great.
heres the problem and what i think is the cause but i need a solution!
PROBLEM: i switch my phone on, it starts normally
motoblur screen
then
T mobile screen
then
the normal swipe unlock
i ulnlock it fine but as soon as i do the wallpaper dissapears/goes black. i cannot access any apps. none of the buttons work (menu,home,return/back,search) but the info bar/ menur bar thing at the top that swipes down works fine and what ever is in it works fine i.e when i plug into usb im able to choose portal and tools and those other 3. but when i just leave my phone on lock then press power button/activate unlock screen. it will show normal background with time and everything looks normal.
the CAUSE ( i think )
i was installing apps and deleting motoblur stuff. but it it was one of those two, i isntalled an app and i deleted a file at the same sort of time. the app installed was some startup app killer or a firewall of some type. or it could have been that i deleted an apk file that had a real short name i think, like blur.apk
PLEASE HELP ME. I need a solution FAST its my first smartphone ever and i paid alot for it. if you need my phone info it was
moto defy android 2.1 uk version but then rooted with super one click
THANK YOU IN ADVANCED FOR ANY HELP
ps i have installed rsd lite and it is recognised by it but thats as far as i know what to do...
Did you get my PM lol saw you in the other forum.
try to do a factory reset on the phone from the recovery menu. if anything, reflash your rom or pick a new one. I had this issue with a few mods/roms/kernals aswel.

i sent you a pm too. thanks for being so quick to reply. but i dont know how to do that stuff im a noob this is my first androidsmartphone ever but im a very quick learner
all good. For my phone. ( droid incred.) when the phone is off i hold power and the volume up key. then i select recovery using the volume keys. I know the buttons to push are different on some phones so you might neeed to use google to find the right 2 keys to hold down while booting
i currently have it in boot loader mode, it says battery ok, ok to program, transfer mode, usb. and thats all it says. no recovery options at all
Ok, found this in another forum. this is how to get into your boot menu i guess:
The boot menu happends when you press the volume down key and the power button.
When it takes you to the triangle part press the volume up key and the power button this action brings up another menu on which you can reboot and other settings.
the first triangle with exclamation mark inside it with the lil andorid man comes up, but the second menu doesnt, im holding vol down and power to get up this image, the to get second one you say to do vol up and power...i tried it, held it for a while but still no joy
ok, give this a try
"If you swipe the bottom right corner when you see the triangle you will get a menu. From there you can reboot or reset"
Still looking for more
nope sorry still dont work. i really appreciate you spending your time doing this it realy does mean ALOT. thank you i hope the solution isnt far away!
Ok, this is from the t-moble forms:
One suggestion...
Pull the battery.
Hold down the volume down key and press the power button.
Continue to hold the volume down key until you seem something happening on the screen.
This should boot you into recovery mode, you'll see a little green Android stood next to a yellow warning sign.
Press the bottom-right corner of the screen, a menu should appear.
Use the volume keys to scroll up and down.
Scroll to 'Wipe DATA/factory reset' and press 'ok' (bottom-left of screen) - you may need to re-confirm in a sub-menu.
After the wipe completes, scroll to the 'reboot' option and press 'ok'.
If you do that, you completely wipe the handset, same as if you performed a full factory reset on the handset.
Obviously, this will get rid of anything you have on the handset but if your only other option is an exchange, you've nothing to lose really.

it says it worked that it did the reset properly but still same original problem.
it says first line....
E:cant open /cache/recovery/command
that is in the recovery mode / reset
do you have a rom that you can try to flash? any rom really just to rule out a rom issue. you can try to find a rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=855&order=desc&page=1
im going to give it a try ill get back to you to let you know how its going within the next 20 mins, thanks for all your help
here is an option for a factory reset.
1. Turn the power off on the Defy (if it's frozen, pull the battery out & reinsert it)
2.Hold the volume down button
3. Press and hold the button until the device turns on
4. You'll get a menu that allows FASTBOOK, RECOVERY, CLEAR STORAGE, and SIMLOCK
5. Select CLEAR STORAGE, by pressing the Volume Down button
6. Press and release the Power
7. Now just confirm your decision Volume Up for YES, Volume Down for NO
it says on rsd lite . fail flashing process. unable to retrieve initialization values from INI (0x07029);phone connected
isnt working for some reason
that menu...mine says
from top to bottom
Android system recovery <2a>
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
(then at the bottomit says...)
E:cant open /cache/recovery/command.
but yet it will still go through the process like it is working but it doesnt fix it
Did you try the top option. Android system recovery <2a>
i wish i had that same phone to replicate this problem
im sorry i didnt write it clear enough the top android recovery thing isnt an option, its like the header/title for the program or page its written in red. the options to choose are in blue

[Q] G2x stuck in "S/W Upgrade" screen after NVflasher One Click

My phone is currently sitting with a "S/W upgrade" screen after a series of stupid events. I flashed recovery using ROM Manager before I had read that it fake flashed. I rebooted into recovery and installed CM7 nightly. Rebooted and it's stuck in a boot loop. So I finally see all the warnings against that so I figure I need to get a real recovery so I use the awesome guide from TGA_Gunnman. I follow all the instructions and it appears from the log on my PC that the CM recovery flashed successfully. I pull the cord, reinsert my battery and my phone just sits in the S/W upgrade screen. It's been like that for 30 minutes now.
What do I do?
I thought I'd done something wrong with my G2x because that happened to me too. Remove your battery and USB. Then insert your battery again. When you turn it on, make sure to hold both the power button and the volume down button until you see text that says android. If you, like me, thought you just had to hold the volume down and tap the power button (like my Nexus One), that might be your issue.
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
just disconnect usb, and go to recovery Power+vol down...
.....and congrats !
yep, I thought I bricked it too.. When you were done at the green screen where it said press any button, thats where you press whatever you want and then unplug the cord. Then, put the battery back in and hold down vol then power, don't let go until "android" pops up.. You did it man, just missing your last step..
Moved to proper forum
I can get to the Recovery screen, but I cant select any of the options....volume lets me scroll, but cant find anything to select any of the options....kinda new at this
power button to 'action' your selection... at least it works for me.

The "S/W upgrade" stays on, that's normal. See if your terminal window has completed whatever stuff it is doing. If you get a completed message, you are good to go and can safely pull out the USB chord even if your phone still says "S/W upgrade". Put back your battery and hold Power+Vol DOWN button and see if you get into cmw recovery.
so im trying to fix my friends phone and this is weird..
im able to go to cwm, wipe it all and flash a new rom.. it flashess successfully but when i reboot it goes back to the s/w update screen..it happens with any rom i flash.. its been sitting there for a while.. how long should i wait?
Once you flash the ROM you shouldn't be getting that screen...Does your friend has the G2x or 2x and which ROM did you flash?
Sounds like you screwed up the boot image. Go into APX mode again and reflash the recovery package making sure it completes, you hit a key to close the terminal window, and you hold the volume buttons the entire time. Then go into recovery and factory reset and clear the Dalvik cache. Then if you still get the S/W update screen you are going to need to go to the thread about fixing bricked phones and use the KDZ method to reflash the entire GB OTA package. There is also a new method to reinstall the entire OTA package using NVFlash but you have to hold the volume buttons down for about ten to fifteen minutes while everything flashes.

Can you get into the bootloader?
Method 1)
Power phone off
Then while holding volume DOwn button press power...
select RECOVERY
Method 2)
If not try adb reboot-bootloader or adb reboot recovery
then try to wipe the CACHE and DALVIK CACHE and attempt boot?
I had the same problem.
Only way I could get into recovery was to vol + and - and power button at the same time and then when the phone powered down but before it auto rebooted I pulled the battery. I know this is risky and can brick the phone but I read the warnings and advice and waited 30secs before inserting again etc.
I then restored a different rom, i didnt want to try wipe cache+dalvik then try again cos I didnt want to risk getting into the situation where I had no choice but to pull the battery again...

Phone wont boot

I seem to be having an issue with my phone. I'm still a noob, so bare with me. I used the HTC Dev tool to unlock my phone. Then I used the flashboot boot boot.img command to try to install a rom. The phone reset on its own and booted to the splash screen and then a black screen. I let it sit for 5 mins and then pulled the battery and put it back in and booted into bootloader and then into recovery. Tried to run cwm but it wouldn't find the rom to flash. Took the card out it put it into another phone and it said it was bad. Got a new card and tried from beginning but not getting any farther. In CMW I can select any of the options and it just goes to to the circle screen. Wont wipe the phone, wont reboot the phone, nothing. If I try to let it boot without going into the bootloader I get the splash screen and then the black screen. Thanks in advance for your help!
Not sure what version of CWM you are using. But normally if you see the circle with the hat, you are pushing the wrong button on the phone to select the items. If I remember it's either the power button or camera button.
Thanks!

Wow, don't I feel dumb! Yeah, I was hitting the power button to select and it is the trackpad that I should have been pressing. Thanks for the help!

TF700 remains in update mode

Hello,
I started a factory reset in the menu of crombikk. The tablet rebooted an stayed in a screen with a green android man and a progress bar. I think it looks like the update recovery. I can restart it by pushing the power button for about 10 seconds, but it boots after the asus start screen into this screen. The tablet is shown on my computer when i connect it. When i try to restart it via fastboot it says 'waiting for device'.
What can i do to come back to recovery or into the rom? Are ther any fastboot commands to cancel the factory reset?
Pleas help me!

First guess (and you shouldn't make me guess): Your recovery is some version of CWM.
Second guess: You did a facotry reset from Settings which is a no-no once you have a custom recovery installed (the same is true for Wipe Data from the bootloader btw: no-no-no)
The picture you see is CWM trying to finish the data wipe and you keep interrupting it. Connect the tablet to power and let if finish. It will take hours! But CWM usually gets through it. Other than TWRP. That recovery doesn't like it at all if you wipe from Settings or BL.
For future reference: Explore the options in your recovery. You can do any wipe desired from there safely. That's what it's for.
Thank you so much.
The tablet works. And I thought already my idleness destroyed my tablet.
