But exactly how will that panel interface work? Is it just 9 shortcuts to applications? I don't think so from from I've seen. It looks more like 9 "Desktops" like those seen in linux. It's a nice idea and it's very pretty but I'm not sure how well that would work in practice. I'm of the opinion that most people would only use one of them regularly as you'd need to keep remembering to come out of the standard WM interface to the panel interface to switch apps rather than just 'alt-tabbing'. Seems a bit like the HTC Cube - pretty but rather useless.
Also, will they give you the option to make that 'fan' mode (like a pack of cards) fan out the other way for us lefties?
I'm going to need to see it actually in use though before I completely slate it The videos out so far don't give you much of a feel.
i need a device that can record VGA resolution @30FPS or more, so far only a nokia and LG's viewty i know of can do it.
i'm sick of the devices having fine hardware that can do this and plenty of other cool acceleration, yet are crippled either by no drivers *cough* KAISER *cough* or simply crippled by the carrier like wi-fi or GPS not supported.
this sony device looks like it has it's graphics hardware working properly as i can't imagine the cpu doing it so smoothly.
so if this has the video recording i need, then it's top of my list to replace my Uni.
other than that Qualcomm's "snapdragon" platform may provide what i need, although that will be later in the year.
anyone have any info on the hardware specs of the sony? what CPU, co processor,etc?

I want it
I want that phone so much to replace my Trinity because it told myself I would only upgrade to a new phone with at least equal features as the Trinity BUT a VGA screen, so here its is!!! And made by HTC so it should show up here in the forums (other HTC manufactured phones) and development, tweaking and problem solving is assured thanks to the great community here..
They are saying it running a version of Windows Mobile between 6 and 7. It could be WM6.1, but they would not say.
awww.. can't wait.. i want it...
For anyone who hasn't read the review

Is there any actual physical information that this is true? Eg a SE website or release info on this?

It should even be newer than 6.1 (but not 7)

I'll translate some of it:
"It would according to Eldar Murtazin from the respected site Mobile-Review.com be a totally new and until now unknown version of Windows Mobile in the new Sony Ericsson flagship. It should be a newer version than Windows Mobile 6.1 but not Windows Mobile 7."

This thread say's it will be WM 6.5!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367948&highlight="wm+6.5"
Hrmm, looks pretty slick...but why make the screen so narrow? Seems kind of useless as a "multimedia device" while in portrait mode.....3.5" diagonal would be great to take advantage of this things mm capabilities.
Looks really great. Being an ex-SE user for the last 3 years I might as well just come back to it.
Noobie question: how does the optical joystick work? Never had an experience with one.
Anyone know if there xda-devs will have a thread for it, seeing as it is made by HTC (and we do have a thread for the Palm Treo 750 and a couple of HP Ipaq's)

hmm thanks for the reply, i saw these specs on that site too, but i don't believe them.
ARM9? 2005 chip??
doesn't make sense to me, i believe it's likely an ARM based chip but by now it would be ARM11.
these would be TI's OMAP 3, Qualcomm's MSM or MDM, and a few others that use ARM's excellent designs coupled with multimedia co-processors.

SPB Benchmark Features
* Processor speed measuring
* Memory Bus speed measuring
* Screen and graphics speed measuring
* Battery lifetime measuring
* Storage card read/write speed measuring
* Pocket Word, Pocket Internet Explorer and File Explorer performance tests
* JPEG file opening tests
* Audio (mp3) and video (avi) performance tests
Hi, I'm the developer of a few benchmarks in the past. For instance I created "Unity OpenGL ES 3.0 benchmark" that has 30000 downloads by now and is still installed on 1600 devices. Now, I created a new benchmark that should test real gaming performance in Unity based games.
Benchmark features: Antialiasing, a lot of dynamic vegetation, high-res textures, dynamic shadows etc.
The benchmark has two tests one tests your device in native resolution, the sexond one tests your device in fixed 1440p resolution (on all devices, even if you have 1080p device) to test raw GPU power.
Score at the end of benchmark shows number of rendered frames.
Please test my app and tell me how high was your score, so I can create excel table with scores and devices to put in the app for comparison.
Link to Google Play: "Can't insert becouse I dont have 10 posts here" :/ Name of the app tho is "Hard Intensive GPU Benchmark" please someone add link as a reply to this thread.
Thank you for your time
