+more than 9,000!
Audiogalaxy has played flawlessly for me on 100+ mile journeys where my 3G connection was up and down all over the place.
I'm actually pretty amazed at how good and easy to use it is. The 2 don't normally go hand-in-hand.

Wow, that is a suprise to me. The subsonic forum itself has a huge thread talking about how poorly it works on android. If you have had luck, that is great. I wish it worked well for me. I will try Audiogalaxy though.

Mine does! It's not perfect, but it certainly works.
I'm on T-Mo and use it on the EDGE. It takes a little while for it to optimize, but once it does it's watchable.

what how are you able to watch it?
Works pretty well on ATT 3G... some pixelation and pauses, but I'll watch games on it in a pinch! The only issue I've found is that sometimes it gets stuck on the inverted U opening page and doesn't progress. A soft boot usually fixes this.
u connect the sling box to ur cable or dish box, run the setup and make sure u can access it outside ur router if u got one, then download the sling player mobile from off they site and it allows u to stream it, on HSDPA its freaking awesome, doesnt take long to start up too, u can also use orb but i have no luck so far with orb and live tv, only downloaded videos on my pc seems to be able to stream on orb
thanx for the answers
my slingbox arrives tomorrow

Hey everyone. Site went down last night and I've been working the past 12 hours to get it back up. Should be good now. Let me know if you have problems.

Yes, I think its superior to radiotime having tried both. Where's the howard stern show?
Even though its more expensive isnt wunderadio the best app?
Thank you very much for posting this. Works great in the car, so many entertaining choices. The fm radio around me is terrible. Low budget, low quality unless you pull in one of the 4 FMHD channels lol. This makes my car rides so much better.

HDMI APP for EVO (using it for games on TV)

Hello,
I was wondering if a Dev was creating or looking into making a app over the HDMI to display everyith on your phone, not just when it is in video mode.
My thought was to someday be able to connect a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to the phone and play doom, quake w/e from my phone to the TV.
Any thoughts?

These were my exact same thoughts, lets connect my phone to my tv and and bluetooth keyboard to the phone and have a big giant screen for txt messaging hahahahahaha Would also be really cool for watching SprintTV and the web.
Was really annoyed when I found out that the HDMI out had been crippled in the EVO. I hope this won't be the case for the EPIC.
Any ways, I too hope that someone can create a work around for this.

i dont believe that this could be done with an app but maybe god maybe manufacturers maybe CYANOGEN can help...
or the alternative if google (or anyone else) gives an API to develop apps...
if there were a browser, a better player(maybe rockplayer) and docs to go, things would have been better...
I am definately willing to donate to anyone that gets this working. It would make the phone so much more effective.
I used the Samsung Vibrant video out with a simple cable from radio shack and it mirrors the whole UI. Everything you do on the phone goes onto the TV. It isn't the most beautiful picture, and there is some frame lag, but it was still really nice. It would be even better over HDMI.
Jutst checking around some different forums to see if all the EVO Hdmi threads are dead or if any work is being done on it... anybody ?????
Any one fide something jet?
Nope still looking around and nothing yet. I know there's a dev raising money for a evo that already created an app for the nexus I believe......
This is definately dissapointing I would chip in for this as I travel a lot and would be great to use with my slingmobile and watching hockey games......
DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR INSTALL THAT ZIP. IT'S A LIE AND PROBABLY IS A VIRUS AND/OR MALWARE.

[Q] Can I put Windows 7 on it?

I've just been given a Xoom. The hardware is great, but the lack of compatibility with loads of stuff I do is a pain. Can I put Windows 7 on it?
That's a negative.
Interresting question, search for qemu, learn a lot about android, its ndk, c++, and how hardware works... then a bit more try and fail and you have windows 7 running inside of your android. because of the nature of your question i would say you will need about 10 years, if you are a good learner maybe 7. Windows 8 for arm will maybe come earlier and motorola will maybe... ehm no they wont.
Sorry for my sarcastic nature. but hey, take it serious, learn what i told you and maybe you solve this problem from a side you never expected.
Regards

OK cheers guys. Yeah, OK it was a stupid question, I was forgetting it wasn't an x86 unit... I guess I'll have to fight with Android a little more! Thanks.
Yes, you can. User named BlmrRlz has ported Win7 Home edition to run on Tegra platform. He managed to dual boot with Android Honeycomb 3.01.

I am not sure what 'lack of compatibility' your talking about other than maybe proprietary applications or gaming. But I've replaced my last windows laptop with the Xoom, now I have a few Linux desktops and this.
Gaming is looking up for Android, especially if PlayStation ever gets a good emulation from Sony.
Why would you take a fast android tablet and bog it down with windows 7 ?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
Just set up remote access to your Windows 7 PC and access it on your Xoom whether it be via RDP, LogMeIn, TeamViewer, etc. The addition of a bluetooth keyboard makes it even better. Counting remote access, my Xoom runs Windows 7, XP, Server 2003, Server 2008, and Mac OS X.

* Java support
* Silverlight support
* Flash support - not sure where this is at, but Friv doesn't work.
* WMV support - sure, it's Microsoft, but it's a pretty old standard these days and everything else seems to play it.
* Fully working MKV support - regardless of the video player I use (and I've installed quite a few), there's either choppy playback, no sound etc.. All of these play fine through my cheapy LG BD player.
* Fully working H264 support - I have a number of videos from various sources and I find that regardless of the video player I use, the sound often stops after a few minutes or the video stops entirely, forcing me to keep rewinding slightly to get it to play past that bit. There's nothing wrong with the files, they play fine elsewhere and the Xoom will play them completely if I keep rewinding each time the sound cuts.

Well, the Javascript engine is the best around. And Java byte code...well all apps for android are written in Java (I list both because some people don't know there is a difference) The standard Java SDK will probably never work due to the nature of the devices themselves.

Microsoft Technology - never going to happen, though there are some things lingering out there. But I'd place money on saying it will never happen.

Some flash apps simply aren't optimized for touch, or are so horribly written that the device can't offer the performance needed, heck my quad core desktop struggles with some.

Yeah, I did mean full in-place Java app support. The web interface to my CCTV uses a signed java app, which of course doesn't work.

Yeah, I agree that's unlikely, especially with the focus for this kind of thing becoming HTML5. It's just a pain ATM because of apps like Sky's video player.

I can't remember the error (and I don't have my Xoom with me), but Friv comes up with an error saying that it doesn't recognise the install of Flash (or something like that). It's different to before I had Flash installed at all IIRC. It's not a performance thing. I think a few other sites say the same thing. Perhaps it's some kind of out-of-browser support it's looking for.

View and control phone screen using PC via USB cable

Try this. It is what I used when my screen was broke. Make sure you have adb running, else it will not launch. Another thing is it is not working anymore on my particular ICS Rom. Should work fine on any GB rom, though. Hope this helps!
Here is the link to the google code page for this project. I take NO credit for this helpful app whatsoever. Devs and further info can be found here- http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/
Note- It is a bit slower than your probably use to, but it is the only app I could find for our device.
^^ Thanks. Testing it now.
Our new app, VMLite VNC Server, should fulfill your needs, it does exactly what you need, to control android phones or devices from a PC, so you can use the external keyboard/mouse, etc. We app has fast responses, and works on rooted or non-rooted devices.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmlite.vncserver&hl=en
so far our users like it. You can simply click a button to do USB connection:
more info here:
http://www.vmlite.com/vaac/#usb_connection
i use a program called MyPhoneExplorer and the corresponding Android app is in the store.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 AT&T and I also have a busted screen. I am trying to just pull my pictures off of it before my replacement arrives. I downloaded the SDK package you linked to but lack the knowledge to just get it to link to my phone via USB. To complicate matters I had it pattern locked but since I can't get the screen to work at all I can't unlock the phone. If I could my computer sees the phone as a portable device but won't show me any of it's files. Any pointers would be helpful.
Hmm
Well, I have a HDMI IN port in my rig . And with a MHL adapter, works perfectly fine on Windows 8.
