So what does HTC Sense Sync actually sync and where does it sync it to? I am on the 200mb plan so I am trying to watch my usage.
I created an account on the HTC Sense website but the only thing on there is the ability to find my phone.
Thanks

I'm kind of wondering that too, it sure seems to want to sync an awful lot.
I think one thing might be text messages. I got a new Inspire because I thought mine had a problem and texts received with the previous phone showed up in the messaging app after syncing.

its a different type of UI it specializes in keeping you in sync with everything in your social world, it does sync a lot but you make it sync only when you want to
so, to clarify:
what does Sync HTC Hub do?
and
what does Sync HTC Sense do?

it took you five seconds to get the info I did not ask for Maybe you should quit being lazy and read the thread and the question first?
the first link you posted is for HTC Sync software for PC, the second one is of concern to Windows Mobile phones.
What I wanted to know is, when I go to settings/accounts&sync//HTC Sense, I get:
Sync HTC Sense
and
Sync HTC Hub
my question is what data exactly do these 2 options sync?

well, before you attack soemoen that helped you, maybe read those websites. I went to them and learned what they do. I've read them:
1. "HTC Sync is powerful software that lets you maximize the use of your Android-powered HTC phone." - not an answer to my question!
2. "HTC Hub is where you can check out weather forecasts, stock updates, and news. It's also the place to go to find out what free HTC apps you can download from Windows Marketplace. " - not an answer to my question! (news are a separate sync item in accounts&sync, as well as stocks and weather, so it leaves Windows Marketplace, yeah, that must be it ).
Also, he attacked me first for being lazy and then provided an answer he looked up for 5 seconds and obviously did not bother to read it first
htc sync is just ur contacts, mp3s, pictures u sync with the matching software on ur pc. the hub is just a useless place u can find a couple themes 9 backgrounds and a handful of widgets, its not updated ever lol. and getting it to sync with the htc software is a pain and has been for many people. best to avoid both imo

AFAIK, the options in settings/accounts&sync//HTC Sense also sync SMSs, list of installed apps, enable you to use the dashboard from htcsense.com (so, remote wipe ur phone, make it ring even if different sim is inserted or locate it on the map if you lost it and password protect it remotely, with a message you want to display on the phone). These options do not have anything to do with syncing with the PC (I do not have any HTC software installed on my PC).
HTC Hub on the other side, AFAIK, has the themes, ringtones and HTC widgets and such, so Darunion is correct in that part.
Darunion mentioned contacts. I think it only syncs the "phone" contacts. Not sim or google. And you are better off if you just have all your contacts as google contacts anyways.
The Sense syncing has also something to do with your location too. Updates your location for phone finder I believe.
But with or without the turmoil in this thread we have to agree that most of this is worthless. Especially when it only works half of the time.

I deactivated my Facebook account because I didn't have time to use it and the microsoft facebook on my phone wasn't the best (why leave information up on a site that you don't have time to check/change?).
If HTC develops a Facebook app or a tab for the HD2 in the awesome way they do things, I probably will start facebook again.
I agree. I'm not hating or anything, but facebook has a much broader use than Twitter and it would be nice to be able to communicate people who actually matters to you rather than following some celeb or industry giant (be it Paris Hilton or Peter Chou).

if you check the topaz and rhodium threads you'll find htc have a facebook app just not like the twitter tab. its integrated into your contacts if you have a search you'll find out more. also if you go to x.faceboom.com you can access it via opera and it looks like the iphone version
I dont have either phone (TD2 or Pro2)... TF3D allows you just to check status of that particular contact... am I right so far??? also it will not allow you to comment etc.. on that status.
But what most of us will like is some something similar to the twitter tab, a complete status update of all your friends (most recent) and allows you to comment etc.. without the need to open an app or a browser... wishfull thinking maybe
HTC shouldn't be doing anything now except getting the WM6.5 rom for the Diamond 2 released.
yep. like i said though. best bet so far is the mobile site atm. the x.facebook.com is better than the m.facebook version.
ps it seems microsoft have updated the facebook app on marketplace. I check the version numbers of both and the new one is 1.1 but they both look the same to me

Consider fring. It has a facebook add-in (although I don't use it so can't recommend). I do like fring for voip and integrating social networking functions in one place, though. Try it, you might like it.
Hello all,
I hope I'm not infringing on some forum rules by asking/posting in this format.
I am looking for a Social centric phonebook much alike the one found with HTC sense or other customized interfaces.
To be clear I'd like to find all information attached to a particular contact in 1 place. So if I get to Mr X, i'll see all text messages ever exchanged with him, his facebook, twitter, what have you page and call logs.
I've seen Phonebook 2.0 www [.] voxmobili [.] com / phonebook / which looks just about right except it appears it hasn't been launched yet.
So is there anything right now that could do the trick.
Note: My nexus is 1 week old if even and I'd rather not root for now but I'd be glad to hear about apps that'd require rooting, for future reference.
Many thanks
www.getaddressbook.com

Actually I read on the changelog that FB was disabled and on market people were complaining about FC's. But I installed it and it works
I just searched the entire forum for Sensation questions about this.
Anyway its my first Android Phone and so far my experience is really good but for 2 issues.
After I made a master Reset because for some reason after the update from HTC to 1.35.401.1 just so you know I am on this update now the issues where there before this update.
Anyway my first issue or question is with the Calendar and its damn reminder/notification option, I just came from Sony Ericsson Satio/U1i where when I have created the event and go to remind/notifies me I get following options: Date and Time where I can set it to remind me of this even at the date and time I want. Where in the Calendar on HTC I only get the option of X Minuts/Hours/Days/Week preset by Google or HTC not sure who, no 100% free customization is there a Fix for this or something, I have searched the web and the market for anything that could do what I needed, but so far come up short, I normally demand my events to tell me the day before at 6PM that I next day have something planned, and atm I can trow this phone and all the apps and calendars I found into a wall and tell it to well never come back. Its the worst useless Calendar i ever seen. Anyway Anyone know a fix for this or a app I have missed that give me 100% customization over this?
My second issue or Question is for some reason when I wanna make a phone call or makes a new text/mms and wanna find the person to call am I showed both my phone Contacts and my Sim contacts even tho I told under persons to hide my Sim contacts, is there no way to make sure it do not show the damn sim contacts without having to delete them?
I hope you can help and I'm truly sorry if I missed anything that answer this but I searched Sensation department for it and found nothing giving me this answer.
calendar: can't you just download another calendar app that works how you want it? it's not the worst calendar you've ever seen just because it doesn't do 1 thing that you want it to do
contacts: people still have sim contacts? since android, i have found it far more convenient to just have all my contacts set up as google contacts, and just sync that...maybe you can set up your sim contacts as a 'group' and then only view specific groups when you want them?

I know my writing in English is not that good because its not my main language and also because i have a mild dyslexia, but I did write in the Calendar part that I have since I found out of this issue tested many if not every single Calendar APP I could find. I also tried APP's that claimed to improve on the original Calendar yet non did what I needed, Either there where no option to set a Reminder/Notification or if there where it used the build in version = UTTER CRAP. Hence why I ask here in hope someone know something that could do it, I have not tested the ones you have to buy as I have no refund chances in case it does not work well those I found has not and Google confirms that, so since I can't read anywhere they have it will I not waste my money on it just yet.
And Yes it is the worst Calendar on the fact no Company like Google who claims to make something for everyone including BIG BUSINESSES, would in their right mind send out something That do not allow for 100% customization over the reminder/notification in it like this, No wonder Google keeps scoring low in making good products for Businesses in this area. Had Google not claimed to make something GOOD and something that everyone including big businesses could use then I would agree then its just a stupid move and sad move.

I'd like to add SWM-C to the list. I have no idea what it does, but I didn't need it running, so I trashed it.
You can also add "Tmobile Name ID" to the list if you don't use or want T-Mobile's for-pay Caller ID service.
ECID.apk is T-Mobile name id.

Much appreciated. Wasn't sure what dockpanel was, and hadn't gotten to axing that one yet in testing.
I guess that means i'm stuck with latitude, since I need Google Maps, but since carhome isn't "supposed" to work with our device according to Google, once it's gone it's toast.
I mentioned earlier that I un-installed the Genius app, tossing carhome gets rid of the rest of that silly talk stuff I can't stand. It's a danged touch device for a reason...lol.
I realize different things work for different people - my buddy loves the talking to it to make it do stuff, just not my thing.
But I need Maps because the feature of emailing places to people has become invaluable in a business sense for me.
We all use Maps, and as people need to be places we just email locations back and forth - someone simply clicks the link in their email and it plots it on the map, and then Navigation automatically computes driving directions.
Auto-sync with email notifies of the new location ready to be input, and you can share the location right from starting in the Maps app itself. When a person gets a new location to go to, they send that and their current to payroll - and their mileage is logged and compensation is computed before they even get to where they are going.
Score a point for Google making my work life much, much easier, and streamlining taxes and payroll.
Edit - i'm the guy I linked you to - another lol.
That thread was a group effort we undertook here to find out what all you could get rid of and still have the system run right. On my working install I use in my day-to-day on the phone, I have a lot of the apps I mentioned were safe to remove in the thread I linked to.
When we first got root on these phones, the day revolutionary was released, it was an all-out delete-fest to figure out what could be safely removed. Some people went ahead and froze things, others went ahead and just uninstalled them. By comparing notes and tinkering with it, we figured out most of what we could toss safely.
Like I said, I use some of the things mentioned to be deleted - but the focus of the thread was what could be removed, and not what personal preferences were.
When i'm doing all my GPS / A-GPS testing, for instance, I restore to my original CWM backup I made right after root and do all my testing with all the stock apps installed. I don't want to contaminate any of the tests by running a custom tweaked install, the only thing i'm trying to tweak in that instance is the GPS stuff i'm working with at the moment. I'm also trying to replicate the environment someone will be in out-of-the-box (or as close as can be since the phone is rooted with CWM installed).
Don't think that I run my phone on the daily with nothing on it - that would be silly and kinda pointless to have a smart phone that didn't do anything. But in the interest of discovery, you kinda have to go beyond what you're happy with to figure it all out. (or at least that makes the most sense to me)
Having tested software for a living for a while...just the habits I got into. Another reason why I go so overboard on backups. You should see all the CWM backups I have stored of this phone in different states.
Just wanted to clear up any confusion, in case you thought I was crazy about trying to rip everything out of the phone indiscriminately - there is a method to the madness (...or is it a madness to the method? Can never tell... )
The things listed that you can delete in the other thread are a pick-and-choose option, you don't have to remove them all.
Using ES File Explorer...
Can't seem to delete anything .... says that it can't be deleted.
Do we need to be S-Off first?
If so, how do we S-Off for Mac users?
There isn't too much clear detailed info for Mac users...frustrating..

There is no Mac version of the Revolutionary S-OFF method. You either have to (A) install Linux, configure it properly and run the Linux version of Revolutionary or (B) install Windows, configure it properly and run the Windows version of Revolutionary.
Your only other option is to wait patiently for HTC to provide a bootloader unlocker for this device which may or may not ever happen. They've released it for the T-Mobile Sensation, but that's a pure HTC phone and not a T-Mobile-branded myTouch model.
I've used Revolutionary on Windows and Linux and both methods are fairly straightforward. You just need to know what you're doing -- if you don't, you probably shouldn't be trying to attain S-OFF in the first place. Just use the permanent temp-root.

In another thread here, someone also found out that by un-installing the stock Google maps version, then re-downloading it from the market, you solve the problem of it running in the background all the time. Check the battery threads to find the specific posting, I forget which one it was in.
Glad to see we are coming up with all the little details here, everyone has a different approach to solving the problems we come across on this phone. Everyone sharing what they know here is starting to paint a pretty good picture of the whole situation - good job everyone!
(Yep, I know car home works on the device, but once you remove it you won't be able to re-download it from the market because Google has it listed as not working for this phone, so it will block the download - thanks for confirming from another phone that it is indeed working though.)

Hey people I use the facebook app a pretty good bit on my sensation although the push notifications only worked maybe 10 % of the time... it's really agravating and i knew it was suppose to work and i knew my buddies using iphones get push notifications EVERY time, so i googled the problem, and it seems the push notifications ot working on android isnt just a sense thing its an android thing all together.. facebook has working apps for blackberry and iphone why there lazy a$$ refuses to fix the android app is beyond me but untill they do here is a fix... I know it sounds crazy and is a slight pain in the ass but know it does work for me and obviousy a bunch of others.. i found this by just googling "fixing facebook notifications for android" and since ive done this i havent missed a single notification... although when i do this for my tablet the phone quits getting the push notifications but when i log out of the facebook app on my tablet i recieve the notifications on my phone again.. i know wierd right... but ive tested this stuff for some days now and although i dont know why it works the way it does it does work like i say it does... your case may be different but ive done it for my phone my girls and my homeboyz phone..
To do this all you need is a computer and an internet connection, the first article i found does it the same way but the second one you can do the same thing just using a computer, *It uses the blackberry facebook app to complete the workaround* I know i know it sounds crazy but IT WORKS! anyways here is the link follow the directions to the T and you should never miss another facebook notification on your sensation again, how it works who knows.. but it does.. anyways just hit the thanks button.. thanks
One thing, when you log into facebook on the computer as per the instructions, i didnt see blackberry facebook app in applications tab... i did see it in the notifications tab, and i had to click it there to check it!
Kinda a check list of things to make sure you do...
1. log out off facebook app on android
2. remove facebook account in account/sync settings
3. clear facebook data in settings/applications/manage apps
3. log in blackberry app/ click the yes for notifications inside blackberry app
4. log out off blackberry app
5. go on computer login facebook make sure the blackberry smartphone check box is checked in either apps and notifications i only seen the one in notifications, but check both
6. log in android app
7. Profit!

Worked perfectly for me, sometimes you still have to disable Facebook for Blackberry and re-enable it but it works!
I moved straight to Android from Blackberry, and have never had problems with push notifications. People that have never had a BB before need to start making fun of their friends that do have it and start begging
I've been around every setting I can find (On the website) put ticks in all the boxes for the app itself but I receive no notifications on my phone about any facebook content.
Will try this BB method tonight.
So does this work on ICS or not... Last thing you said is you'll try it

I too did this fix after doing some googling!
I had never had push notifications working properly.
Went to a local phone shop that had a load of blackberries out and signed into one then signed back out. Now works perfectly using ARHD 6.6.3. Get all the push notifications.

Sweet!
I'll try it as soon as I get home
Yep just sign into the facebook app with a blackberry and after that I notice the android notifications are much more reliable ... Something to do with permissions
Why not just use Friendcaster? It's faster, far less ugly and has push notifications enabled.

Should work on a Blackberry Playbook?
Definitely works!
Used a virtual blackberry
Also, the latest Facebook update didn't fix this...
Hi guys.
I have tried this solution on my sgs2 with ICS.
I did all the steps on blackberry simulator, and i have blackberry smartphone check box only in my notifications in facebook settings, but it's not in the applications :/
any ideas why?
