Found via engadget (link) and their source is the official sprint forums (link). Okay AT&T, where's ours?
Finally lol. Hopefully the Captivate and Fascinate aren't too far behind.
Wow.... a promise of a release sometime in the future...
where have I heard this before...
(sorry I had to)

This is legit. Samsung released the EB13 source today. (yes, source before the official release, weird huh?)

Yea, I saw that the source was released...
I was just being sarcastic about the release date.
wouldn't it be crazy if they missed the date. (not that it matters... I'd take code over a release any day)
Handing in a paper a day late in school would drop a full letter grade (10 points).
How many days over due is Froyo again?

Lucky...I get instant -50%.
When I read this on engadget yesterday i thought of a possibility that AT&T had made an announcement to release our cappy Froyo and then (maybe at the last minute?) had learned of a updated release on the 21st and opted to wait for that new RC instead of having us update twice in one week..
Is that plausible?

Not sure if this thread is up yet but reports all over the web saying that
T-Mobile has delayed the release of the 1.5 Cupcake until June.
What a bummer!
Fresh as a Foghat concert.
Or a Clueless quote.
Why is this such surprise? It's been delayed for how long now?
Yup been reading about it. Delayed again.

About a week, right? Or are you referring to the numerous rumors on random unofficial blogs? T-mobile US officially announced it and then said it would be delayed about a week. I would say its not that long of a wait.

I am sure I am thinking about the rumors. However, it seems like there is always some delay.

With software you can never be 100% sure it will be on time. Most companies would rather delay the launch of software then put out a buggy one. Besides why are we complaining here, we have had cupcake for a while now.
I guess I should have added some sarcasm tags ( /sarcasm ) to my first post.

1.5 cupcake is old news. Where's my Hero cupcake?!
I guess I'm glad I wiped my phone and went JF 1.5 last night. It wasn't my plan to, but the no wipe upgrade to 1.42 didn't work. unionfs app2sd seems ok, knock on wood.

Stop with the cupcake threads. You don't need to create a new one for each hissy fit you have.
Posted on Samsung Service wall in facebook. They just released the offical JI6 for T-mobile's Vibrant. Maybe we are next, who knows lol.
I dont ever visit the other Galaxy S forums (I probably should) but from looking over there on the Vibrant section, their JI6 is not Froyo, which seems strange to me. Perhaps someone else could elaborate.
Samsung called it JI6 FOTA.
I saw that on my FB too. When I went over to the Vibrant forums, though, they seem to not care at all. One post from this morning that was very similar to this one said something like "JI6 FOTA is official, per Facebook. Blah, blah, blah were never going to get 2.2."
I dont fully understand firmware version numbering but maybe the prefix is different than ours.
They're also going on about how the 2.2 update won't be until 2011 and the GPS fix isn't until after Thanksgiving (late November)... of course this is all according to someone's friend.

JI6 is just a code. In Samsung terminology, I is for the month of the build (A= January, B= February...I=September), 6 is the revision number. JI6 is therefore the sixth internal firmware revision in September. For us it happens to be leaked Froyo, for them, OTA Eclair.

I think J is for "10" as in 2010, as it's the 10th letter in the alphabet. But funny thing, the Fascinate roms start with D. As their latest update is DI01. Dont know what the D stands for, but the I is for sept and 01 is for the first build.

Until you realize that the i9000 owners are playing with JPK, a 11th version of Froyo built in the 16th month of the year 2010.

According to SamsungMobileUK - Froyo is official now (again?). Everyone will have it by End of Month. Is that USA too?
From twitter:
https://twitter.com/#!/samsungukmobile/status/29684769499
Froyo starts rolling out today; everyone will have it by the end of Nov. To prepare, get the latest version of Kies http://bit.ly/cfjJDa
I think we should see it by Christmas. That way when we get it earlier, it will be that much more exciting!
Samsung has been quick to point out that when SamsungUK says 'everyone', they mean 'everyone in Europe'. They have consistently said 'By the end of the year' for us Yank's.

yes, but they have not really qualified when that really is - it could also be in November. One rumor site claims all of us by the 11th of November.
For a multinational company, they have terrible communication skills. We are left to infer what they mean. But you are correct - previous communication has been region specific.
I have already installed the Froyo version available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797282
After Froyo is released officially in the US for AT&T, does anyone knows if there would be a way to upgrade to the official version?
* Update: Nevermind my question... there is a thread about this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821480
According to this:
https://twitter.com/samsungukmobile/status/535769122865153
They say that there have been some fixes to the GPS in Froyo. Let's hope so because I am tired of this unreliable GPS which I can't really use.

has anybody got this and updated that can give some feedback?

This says Korean Galaxy S users will get official Froyo on Monday night...
Nothing? Nobody had installed the official update and has an opinion...This is disappointing as this thread now only has 9 replies where the thread about a Mysterious update text that 5 people got has 127....

what i dont get is why is gingerbread coming out like in a week or 2 and we are getting 2.2? shouldnt they have just used this past month or 2 to make gingerbread work instead? Its obviously been available for sometime if its being released.

Especially when you consider that Samsung had access to the Gingerbread source for the Nexus S (the first Gingerbread phone to come out). At this point I am just hoping we get Froyo soon. If we are lucky, the Nexus S will help make an official update to Gingerbread come sooner; or if not, if the hardware is similar enough we may get unofficial gingerbread updates soon after the Nexus S sources become available.
Any news on the 5.1.1 update for our variation? Any rumors, anyone get it yet? Is there an ETA? Just looking for any information anyone might have. Thanks!
Only thing I've read was from @eurominican a week or so ago.
"Just got word from my Samsung Rep that software update is rolling out right now for other carriers and sprint will get it by end of next week"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...c23ram9200srintdeoxedmoddedv1-t3107342/page31
If that hold true, we should see an update to work with within the week.
Should be any day now.

So, looks like no more dessert names for Android... I kind of liked it, it made them stand out. Whatever. So, last year Pie was released the same day it was named, sooo, hoping it gets released today! It's definitely imminent either way.

Android 10 release date confirmed: Here's when Google will release it to Pixel phones
I tried the latest beta earlier and when I was lookong around the Google play services was showing as 1st September. Security was 1st of August.
Being a nosey sod I pressed it for more info and it said there was an update. Downloaded a small update and then was back to 1st of August. Kept saying there was still an update but that failed.
Could be the bods getting ready for the new updates maybe? But never seen the play services with its own entry before.

Meh, I would take this with a grain of salt. Google chat reps seriously don't know what they're talking about most of the time. They don't even have the means to help with much either. Also, the fact that he or she said that it would be Android Q really shoots it down for me. I mean, who knows. I'm betting on this week or next anyway.
Some new information regarding Android 10/Q which would have been Android Queen Cake if Google would have stuck with the dessert names ?.. and also the future of Android with Android lead engineer Dave Burke and another lead developer
