Hi,
I flashed CM7 nightlies and ChevyNo1's Gingerbread ROM 5.0 on my MOTO D1 for a few days and really loved the new keyboard and the cut and paste function/lever. Neither were stable enough on my phone so I had to go back to my MIUI Froyo. I found the GB keyboard here and installed it but the cut and paste does not come with it. It appears to be a separate function than the keyboard. Anyone know how/where to get Gingerbreads cut and paste so we can install it on Froyo? TIA
anyone know this? TIA

How do I install the stock keyboard from froyo on the new update? I can't seem to get sense to force quit and clear defaults. It just automatically reloads.
I'm having the same problem I frickin can't get sense to quit.
are you trying to install the stock 2.1 keyboard on 2.2, cuz i havent seen a 2.2 keyboard apk around here, unless i missed it
I was wondering the exact same thing...the stock 2.2 keyboard without sense is much better than the sense keyboard
so im guess that is a sense thing huh?
the only thing sense probably did right
any alternative?
bump bump bump for Forrest Gump!!!!!!!!!!!
yea that is the one thing i did i miss about sense
Agreed. I feel like it's linked to the HTC browser moreso than the Sense framework itself, but I don't know how possible it is to rip just that part out.
we NEED that!!!
This is on my short list of dreams for Gingerbread <3
I found the app "Copy Paste It" to be a decent alternative when I was on CM6. In the end, I went back to the nonsense version of Baked Snack because I missed C&P, but didnt like anything else in Sense. That said, I also now miss some of the CM6 features, so I'm torn...
Android needs to do something for this. The default copy/paste is so unintuitive. It was easier to use windows mobile without a stylus and copy/paste.
Swype has an editing keyboard. Swipe from the Swype to the SYM key.
as much as i love swype...swype's select text feature doesnt help much when viewing a website or something...
Sorry but I wouldn't dare drop cm6 because of copy and paste
Sent from my Htc Evo 4g
lol who said anything about dropping it?
After the latest update and the change to GB the text highlight feature in GB covers the selection window of Swype.
Is everyone else having this issue as well? Anyone run across a fix?
I don't think it matters here but I'm running the Rooted OTA ROM.
Hi!
I'm a developer over at the GSM Hero section. I recently got the camera working decently on our phones with ICS, you might wanna try it out, I can't see why it wouldn't work for you guys too.
Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?d0ccs22yr447fby
Just put it in /system/lib/hw. You'll also need the proprietary libs in /system/lib/.
Happy Hacking!
I'll test it out
Sent from my EVO 3D S using xda premium
Any luck?
Bumpity bump
i can confirm this works
i ported the eris ics 4.0.4 base that mongoosehelix has provided in their forums to my heroc, since the copy of ics i have for this device wouldnt work for some reason (kept fc'ing when trying camera). i had camera preview, not jerky at all. looked pretty good actually. just did as you said op and copied the file to the lib/hw folder and bam good to go. taking pictures was another story, a combo of touching the onscreen button and hitting the trackball finally yeilded a picture. cannot say anything for camcorder preview, did not try it.
thanks for making this for us, and hopefully we can get an ics 4.0.5 rom when its time
That's awesome!
I've updated this lib since my first post, I removed the support for barcode scanning since it was leaking a lot of memory. Here's the new version: http://www.mediafire.com/?fp7tryck4qsh1zu
Hello,
Please expand on what exactly is needed from the Eris rom when you reference "proprietary libs". I have built the Evervolv HeroC rom from code several times now and adding your file changes nothing for me? The current build version for our HeroC's is Evervolv-Ignis-2.2.0b1.
Cheers
i ended up using dsixda kitchen to port the eris ics 4.0.4 rom, and the only file i changed afterward is added op's file in lib/hw. it just worked after that.
im trying to figure out how to get this working on matt/jaybob's 4.0.3 rom, copying libs to it and while i cant get a preview yet, it doesnt force close right away. it will sit with a black screen until you press home or back. so thats a start.
i suspect it has something to do with the annoying red borders that show up whenever something visual happens, is there any way to fix that?
if i figure this stuff out then ill post my work, thanks op and thanks matt/jaybob for your work getting ics on our trusty old hero's
Weird that you can't get it working on jaybobs/matts build. You should only need the lib posted in the OP and these:
libcamera_client.so
libcameraservice.so
libcamera.so
liboemcamera.so
I downloaded your ROM to take a look and those were all there so that can't be the problem... What happens if you replace all those with ones from our GSM Hero build or the Eris build?
i made an update zip with those libs from the hero gsm 4.0.3 build, and no dice. also tried the eris build libs on our 4.0.3 and no dice. there is progress though, it used to just fc right away, but now it stays at a black screen and doesnt do anything until i press menu or back. ill keep trying to get something working
While you are at it, could you post that Eris port of ics? I would love a new ROM to try.
i do not wish to steal op's thunder in this thread, so i am opening a new thread in android development. im uploading to mediafire as i type this so check it out and get your hopes up for camera lol
I just got the phone 2 days ago and have been browsing around for answers and come up with very little....
First off, if I were to do the root, unlock bootloader, etc., am I still only limited to ROMs specificially for the AT&T phone or can I use ARHD for example from the other forum?
Second, is there any way to use the real ICS keyboard instead of HTC's or one off the market? I had a galaxy nexus and really like that one. I am currently using a copy from a while ago from the market and its not as good.
Third, I like the revamped messaging app, but doesn't have the emojin support. Was wondering if there was anything on the market besides GOSMS or Handcent, etc. that could allow that with the stock messaging app.
Appreciate your time and thanks in advance

I also came from a gnex, and love the stock ICS keyboard. The easiest way to safely get it for free is to download one of the latest CM9 nightlies from http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=maguro&type=nightly
Then open the zip, go to system/app, and copy LatinIME.apk out. Put it on your one x and install it. You'll then have to go into settings->language/keyboard, and enable the keyboard.
After that, go to any text field on your phone (like your browser's URL bar), make the HTC keyboard pop up, then drag down your notification bar and you'll see the switch keyboard notification.
No root required, nice and safe.
That is an awesome trick lol...Do you have any other apk suggestions I can use from the CM build?
It works perfectly! Thanks again

I haven't felt the need for anything else from my gnex, so I didn't attempt to use any other apks. I know a few people were requesting the stock sms and dialer, but you really need to be careful pulling system/app apks out, since there could be dependencies.

NICE So much better to type on now!
Anyone else for the emojin question? I found the answer to the first one.
Thanks
