This is an AOSP-based build with extra contributions from many people which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. I've still included the various hardware-specific code, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.

CM7 FAQ/ISSUES
This is being compiled by ausch30, and all credit should be given to him. I am simply helping by posting it here in the second post.
Visual Voicemail: Flash into sense, backup with titanium, flash back into CM7, restore data. Or use Google Voice or Youmail
WiFi Sleep Policy: Change WiFi sleep policy to never, menu>wireless and networks>WiFi settings>menu>advanced>WiFi sleep policy. Honestly it's been so long since I've done this I'm not quite sure what it fixes but I know it's been mentioned quite a bit. I do know that this will significantly improve your battery life also with some ROMs changing the WiFi sleep policy setting to never sleep can prevent random reboots.
Camera Shutter Sound: To remove shutter sound you need to remove shutter.ogg in system>media>audio>ui. Remove it through Root Explorer, ES File Explorer, ADB, etc
GPS fix: Flash into a sense rom, download MSL reader from the market, input ##GPSCLRX# into the dialer, reboot, reflash into CM7
Facebook Contacts that fail to Sync: First go into the Facebook app and select settings>sync contacts>sync all, then go into sync and sync now. Now go into your contacts list and select a contact the press menu>edit contact>menu>join, you should see all your facebook contacts in there and you can join them to your phone contacts. After that you can go back into the facebook app and switch back to sync with existing contacts.
Google Apps: For apps such as market, gmail, etc. you have to download and flash the latest gapps after flashing the rom, it can be found here http://goo-inside.me/gapps/latest/7/universal/
Does the camcorder app support 720p video recording: As far as I know not yet, but they are working on it.
HDMI: Working for the most part, not integrated into the rom yet. Should be in there by CM7 final.
How can I get the swype? : Go to Swype.com and sign up for the beta, it's really simple to download and install from there. http://beta.swype.com/ Thanks ItsDon
There are a lot of kernel questions. There is a stock kernel included in the rom (a rom won't work without one). There are alternate kernels available, if you have issues and are using an alternate kernel, post those questions in the associated thread.
This is what I have so far. I'm not foolish enough to believe that after posting this there won't still be people that post questions without bothering to look anywhere for the answer but my hope is that it might help to answer some questions and reduce the number of repeat questions.
Edit: SD card speed issues, I'm not sure if this has been fixed in newer releases yet
Edit: The issue is SD card speed over USB mount, use the "USB-MS" option in Amon_RA recovery to mount your SD card. That has not been addressed in RC2 or any of the nightlies so far yet. Thanks aph. There is a know issue that has been logged (#3067) by the CM team about the SD card becomming "Damaged" during RC2 install. This affects a small number of phones with a possible work around of a second reboot after the install. Thanks to s2kdriver

You aren't going to get 4G by flashing a dodgy kernel. It's all about the userspace code, and it's almost ready (thanks to Shinzul, Toast, and everyone else) and we are hoping to have it in for 7.0 final.

Thanks for all the effort.
Having issues with data. It worked fine for a while on the first boot but once I rebooted the phone, I can't get the phone to connect on data. Anyone having this issue, and most importantly how do I resolve it?
Other than that, amazing. Thanks for this great rom.
Edit: I looked into the access point name under the mobile network section and noticed a bunch of info was wrong. Notably the password was missing. I added the password and rebooted the phone and now everything is working fine. FYI the password is CINGULAR1.

Your best bet would be to do a Titanium Backup of all user apps, install the ROM fresh, then install S2E, reboot, then restore the backups of user apps and your S2E transition is complete.

Very legit! My girl loves Cynogen!
Almost did a battery pull on first boot. Coming from an older Nightly. Right as I was pulling off the backplate though, the screen went dim and the keys lit up, and everything loaded. So be patient guys on first boot.
My you guys have been busy. Very polished, so many new features.
Just came back to CM7 after about 3 mo. on the Sense ROM. I use GPS constantly, so I have been testing it extensively today. Happy to say Maps, Nav, and this geotagging app I have all work really well.
Zero problems so far, congrats!
Ok guys (and girls), here's a problem I've been dealing with for over a week now. Any help would be appreciated. I have been keeping up with the nightly builds and on nightly 213 and forward (including this stable release), I have found that my phone will stop receiving data after around 8 hours after a reboot. The only way for the data to work again is to reboot. This occurs on both mobile data (3G) and wifi connections. I have rolled back to nightly 208 and the problem doesn't occur. I have uninstalled all new apps since this started occurring, so I know it is not an application problem. I installed 7.1.0 stable with a full wipe, so that's not the problem. I don't think it is similar to the problem reported in post #4 of this thread because my Access Point information under Mobile network settings are the same in my working N208 as they are in the non-working 7.1.0. Also, neither version had a password, so following the directions in post #4 I put in the password CINGUALR1 on the 7.1.0 stable version, and the problem still persisted.
I am running DC's 8.9.1 and Juwe's RAM script, though I have been told neither of those could be the culprit.
Any suggestions, please?
something with your setup - have been running since last night and have not rebooted since and have had no connectivity issues at all.
What's the earliest nightly build that has the problem for you?
Did you format your system partition before the clean install?

I installed it a few minutes earlier! By far faster and more responsive than the stock froyo I used to have! Thanks to all the ones that have contributed to this project!

Always need wipe data when you go to another kind of roms !!!! (which is not same as rom update)
This is the 99% reason for flashing bootloop's
I couldn't make calendar lockscreen widget works. Any idea?
I may stick with the nightlies in that case. Is there any material difference, anyway?
so.. im running the leaked gb rom. is this what i should do to get this running on my phone?
1. flash official 2.2.2 (india)
2. wipe everything (factory reset)
3. using recovery install the cyanogenmod as an update from sd card
and this is reversible right? as in i can just wipe and flash any other rom if for some stupid reason i dont like this?

Yup...assuming you implied the rooting+2ndInit after flashing 2.2.2
You can refer here for more details:

It hasn't been updated to include the official stable release but the instructions remain the same.

+1
thanks to CM team + quarx + epsylon + maniac...!
i did the update for cm7, but the phone doesnt boot into anything past the boot animation. it just keeps looping that animation and nothing else!
EDIT: oops, realized i hadnt wiped before updating.. so i just pulled the battery out, booted into the cem recovery and wiped. rebooted again and it worked. sisnt have to redo the whole flashing process.
there are still 2 bugs (at least):
1. camera FC bug if, during a video recording, the home button is pressed. The video file will be corrupt.
2. WIFI signal strenght doesn't update.
okay, one question. why is there no market app on this? is it because i wiped as i said?
How to change WCDMA prefered, GSM only settings
There used to be an option in even 7.1rc1.5 to select the band in mobile network settings (Between national data roaming and access point names) to select 2g or 3g (WCDMA prefered, gms only etc.)
Now i dont have it on cm7.1 official. Is there a way to change these settings?
Also *#*#4636#*#* does not work for cm7
OK here is my first report
It's much much stable now.
Not getting all the FC's which I was getting in 1.5
smooth interface
I had huge issues with my contacts earlier which is now sorted
Issue:
Camera is giving FC's sometimes.
Finally
an official version
Bye bye Beta, bye byte RC

What is NamelessROM?
NamelessROM Gerrit Review
What is NamelessROM ?
Simple - NamelessROM is opportunity.
An opportunity to have a voice to the development team of the after-market firmware that you run on your device.
The main goal of NamelessROM is to provide quality development for android devices, phones and tablets alike.
NamelessROM developers are available nearly 24/7 and respond to bug reports and feature requests almost instantly.
This availability will allow you, the end-user, to have direct input into exactly what features and functions are included on the firmware that YOU run.
NamelessROM maintains features and functions of several well-known open-source, AOSP-based ROMs, as well as many features of our own.
Visit our website for more detailed information.
NamelessROM = endless possibilities. Unless you have an iPhone, then you're out of luck.

I tried last version ...it is freakin' awesome , I did exactly the same thing like you ,and indeed the boot animation is acting strange ,freezing ,then for a moment unfreeze and again and again until the rom starts...I don't know for me the ROM works flawles, maybe you must wait a litlle bit more... it takes quite a while...

I really don't know what to say ... I did a fresh clean flash ,wipe cache, wipe dalvik, reboot (i changed the bootanimation with a simple google animation) and the boot time was around 1-2 minutes maximum(the first boot) ...
40mb smaller than cm11
so people tell me how does this run on your phones?
did clean flash. run smoothly. no issue.only have one sudden reboot. run better than cm11. anyway good job Dhiru![emoji106]

in rest its more stable, Happy ^_^
Music playback
Any issues with music player?..any fc or hang?
Sounds like a great rom. I guess, it is time to say goodbye to cm11 then. I was mentally prepared to go back to Gingerbread too. :good: But this means new hope. :highfive:
It might sound stupid but, i really can't install an app from sd card... ,when i click on apk it opens a window with ''Complete action using '' but nothing in that list is useful...(i use the app from this ROM called Documents).Any ideas/help? Thank you.
@CristianCRS Hi. Install of Play Market any file manager. Regards.

Hi ,and thank you...Now that you mention it..i really feel stupid... i don't know why i used to think that Documents can act like a normal File Manager. Thank you again !
i managed to boot the rom,i formatted data and system partitions, but phone crashes after i get asked if i have gmail account, also restoring data will cause phone to fail to boot(keeps animation for 1 hour(forever)).
