[Development]Edit Htc's Camera app - Desire HD Android Development

Hi folks!
I've been searching this section for an answer about editing the stock camera-app. Without any success at all (except by briefly sentences about this).
The goal with this is to make the flash to light up right before the application tries to focus. This will make it a alot easier to take photos in more dark places. (And for those with a past of nokia devices) you already experienced this function.
I've attached a .rar-file containing the following:
1. The original .apk file
2. The decomlied .jar file
3. A folder containing everything from inside the .apk (for those of you that haven't a clue at all how to extract files from a .apk file)

Well if you are following this thread, you probably already know what's going on.
But for new visitors: I decided to change my approach to several problems I stumble upon. So I will more likely create a complete new camera app specific for the DHD. And yes, users to this forum will be the first to try it out. But I've haven't decided yet how I will distribute the app, if it will be through google marketplace, or just in here (or what ever it will be).
But if this project take up to much time, I would appreciate some kind of donations But of course after you folks seen some results
So keep tuned for more news!

Still stuck at succeeding to complie back to ordinary apk-file again. So if there is someone with any kind of knowledge about this, please let me know.
Date; 17th Feb 2011
Well guys, I succeeded to change some values, but I still got some problems to complie it back to .dex
Maybe an update about this during the day
Date; 16th Feb 2011
I've succeeded to find the class containing all definitions (for an exapmle: how many seconds it will take for the timer to take a photo).
I will try to edit some values and the complie it back to .dex (in other words make it back to .apk).
I hope to update before the end of the day.
Cheers folks!
Date; 15th Feb 2011
I've manage to decomplie classes.dex in HTCCamera.apk to a .jar-file. So if you got a java complier it shouldn't be any problem to open up the file.
The main problem right now is to find which class that handles the actual moment when it tries to focus. So if any one with some sort of knowledge about programming have some time over, feel free to help me find this specific class.

While it's a good idea, what I do is extract the torch app from Cyanogen Mod, then put it on and go home, because the torch will stay on until you go back on the app and shut it off, so I use the torch and then I launch the camera, try it!

I don't use Cyanogen mod, can you upload that apk somewhere?

A more pressing matter is that when a video is recorded, audio is compressed and encoded in such a low quality. As a result, the audio is very bad. Here are some ideas I can give you. Reroute the microphone input from back to front mic. In other words, the mic we use while talking. Increase quality to at least 128kbps and 44100Hz frequency. And disable ACG. I assure you, doing this will benefit the whole of the Desire HD community I'll gladly donate once my EMA comes in next week

Well, it's a solution ^^
But not one I want to use. I don't want to luanch two applications just to take one picture.
But thanks for the suggestion
Elemental_Fire:
That is exactly the kind of things I want to change

Glad that someone is finally doing something about this.
I just don't understand why this function is not found in DHD.
Without it, most photos taken in the dark are blur as there is not sufficient time and light for it to focus correctly.
I personally don't like to use 3rd party application for camera. Therefore I hope that your work would interact with the phone camera and make the LED flash to bright up automatically without any additional application or with "one time setting" only.
Fingers crossed for this...

Any progress made? Maybe some ROM developers could take a look at it?

Well, sorry guys for my inactivity. But I got som studies in the way, so I hope there will be som extra time over for this
So stay tune for more news

Hmmm, loving the idea. I'm also wondering about pausing in video recording, like pause-continue recording-stop etc, like in nokia's too

Looking forward to updates here. Hopefully you can do something about the god awful audio quality.
@Elemental Fire..as far as i know, there is only one mic on our DHDs, the mic you use to talk on phone calls at the bottom. There is no other mic.
edit: this thread should really be moved to the Development section. There would be a lot more activity there and more who could help.

Threes a mic right beside the flash leds... its also used to cancel out background noise during calls by using both mics

My DHD has no such mic.

There's no hole right beside the flash leds of your DHD?

it's a second microphone for noise cancellation / video audio

I believe that picture is from a prototype dhd before it was released. I was under the impression that it was canned for the final release? Mine doesnt have that hole. Am i the only one? Look here, there's no second mic

Me neither.. i only have one mic.. asian set here
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

I have the hsdpa version of this phone from TELUS. The hole is visible and the otterbox even is routed around the hole.
Heres a picture from the excuse of a camera I have since I broke my other good one

I am missing the possibility to set up image compression. Or it would be enough to change the jpeg compression forever. In my oppinion, the compression of pictures is too high and small details are lost.

I have opened a similar thread some times ago but was trashed without reason!
I think this is a very important issue of dhd. My nokia n79 has the ability to take wonderful photos in totally dark conditions!
I thinks became a trick to make an up that open flash and take it opened while launching camera app.
It's not automatic way but I think is a workaround until the solution!
Sent from future with my superfast desire hd with LeeDrOiD rom!

I believe that is the Inspire 4G, if you look at pictures you'll notice that the Desire HD does NOT have anything next to the Camera LEDs, while the Inspire does, but I haven't heard whether it's a real advantage or not.
Well replace the HTC logo with at&t and then yes, it's an Inspire 4G.

[ROM (not completed)] Raphael Ophone

Hello there. Since saturday evening I'm working on oPhone port. I'm porting from oPhone SDK which is free to download from there
Code:
http://www.oms-sdn.com/
you only need to register.
EDIT (7/7/09 - 17:25):Hey, sorry for "inactivity" but I was working on it but I've updated only my twitter (@detoxcz). I've skipped radio initialization so now you can play with it a lil more. Graphics issue still persists
Get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?nwdxbmixjm0
EDIT (18/6/09 - 17:18):l Okay, another news. I'm releasing the latest update.zip. Now you can swipe down notification bar and play with it. Graphics issue still persists. I'm workin on it.
Latest build, take it or leave it.
EDIT (17/6/09 - 18:09): We have an update. I won't upload it but now the screen can go black and when you hit Menu you will get to lockscreen (but there is still that crazy graphics issue) and you can see the blue ring (actually, due to graphics issue it's only moving rectangle). Screen is now reacting, when it's dim (not fully black, only dim) and you will tap on it, it will get brightness as before.
EDIT: Some news. I've tried flashing my latest version into G1 and then nandroid. These files I've copied to dir where oPhone emulator images was. I have used mine ramdisk.img, system.img, userdata.img but not the kernel. It works, phone works but can't get trough "Searching SIM Card" dialog (that should be the touch screen block at G1) and when I have done screenshot in DDMS it's same as DDMS from G1. So I'm not sure what the reason for this graphics issue. My personal tip is, that it's kernel with the drivers. I have also tried to copy this (nandroid-ed images from G1) into images forder of regular SDK (not the oPhone one) and phone didn't even start. I'm attaching screenshot with DDMS and emulator.
I already have first test version. It's only for testing because it won't boot properly (in logcat you can see the system is running but no display feedback).
You can get it here
Code:
http://www.edisk.cz/stahni/69148/update.zip_77.28MB.html
(I will upload it on odther sites too)
You WILL need haykuro's new SPL (same as for Hero)
Reason why I'm releasing this is, that I want anyone who can to help. Please try to find out bugs and solutions and write to me and I will do new update.zip. I'm working on it right now but getting even worse than before.
So thanks for your help and advices
PS: You can write me mail: [email protected] or ICQ/AIM: 278-783-808
EDIT: New version is out. It's still only testing version but now it boots and you can see it booted in Home application. From now you can't do anything, you can yust switch out your keyboard and it will animate to landscape and back when you will switch it back. I'm trying my best to get you fully workin' oPhone ROM.
Get it here:
Code:
http://www.mediafire.com/?uimitlz3pr4
and screen from ddms (it's nicer than in device)

Yep, if expecting booting to Home screen i have to dissapoint you. What this do is, that it's booting and booting and booting and there is issue with Video drivers or somethink like that. But when it's booting, you can connect it by ADB.
I think one of the biggest hurdles we are going to come across is driver support on the G1. Rumor that Haykuro had it running on his G1 could have meant recovery console...etc. The Hardware is pretty different on the Lenovo oPhone. I don't think just pushing over some libraries and some .so's are going to do it. I can only assume it will take possibly a recompile of the kernel in order to run on the G1's Hardware.

Yeah, for the meantime I think I'll just stick with playing on the emulator.
The home screen is really the only thing I found so far that makes this an OS I'd like to flash. Personally I think the Rosie UI is a bit nicer.
I do like the ability to have up to 9 screens though.
no this ophone runs on the htc magic which is close to our phone there is a pic of it some where and htc is releasing it this month

Well I agree with you that it seems unlikely that we'll be able to use the full ROM as is, but it seems like we should be able to cannibalize some of the libraries/apks.
Haykuro already ported this, someone might wanna contact him!

here is the pic in case any one was curious but its been posted for a while so most of you have probably seen it
i just sent haykuro a tweet asking if he would ever release his port or to atleast tell us what he did to get it working. Is there a way to set the os to english instead of chinese in the emulator.

[GPL- Violation] Full HDMI Mirroring(Released)--(NEW UPDATED APP)

:::EDIT:::
FROM Orrebmas himself
Hi,
I was told and verified that the donate button does not work in the version I released. I fixed and re-uploaded it to android central. Please update your post.
Thanks for bringing it to XDA.
-- orrebmas
I have updated the app to the new updated version with the donate button working!
http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-rooting-roms-hacks/63799-fullhdmi-official-fullhdmi-beta-discussion.html ----BETA Thread Discussion thread made by Orrebmas
http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-rooting-roms-hacks/35955-evo-hdmi-out-mirroring.html---ORIGINAL THREAD
Thanks to Orrebmas over at Android Central there is a working BETA version of the FULL HDMI for EVO.
All,
It is here finally, FullHDMI "limited time" public beta is attached in this post. This version is to mass test the app and get feedback before the next step.
I will be making an announcement later today about the beta and its purpose, but for now I am attaching it and going to get some sleep. You will need the Kernel posted several pages back on this thread to enable some features, and root. I just realized that non-root is broken as of this version.
Some of the things you need to know about before tinkering with the app, pasting quickly:

Most TVs have multiple options for aspect ratio. For example, zoom, hourglass, etc. Just make sure this setting is set to fill the screen.
I am not saying that is the case for all of you, it just was for me. Once I changed the setting, it filled the screen perfectly without messing with the X Y resolutions.
And also:

1- To achieve hardware acceleration, video memory (minimal) has to be used. Some poorly coded programs that also use video memory will try to grab a hold of the entire memory block instead of the available. This will cause them to crash when you are in hardware mode reserving a small block of memory to yourself. The only application that I found to be doing this is, strangely enough, HTC's Gallery (specifically video playback mode). Gallery video playback will keep trying to acquire the whole video memory, put the phone in a tight infinite loop doing so and eventually force close (after about 40 sec).
Compatibility or software mode does not use video memory and is safe to keep on while launching Galley video playback. Compatibility mode also does not make use of the "supercharged" feature, custom res or fullscreen mode.
2- FPS: Your frames per second will not be the same as on your phone. This is because the app is designed to keep the phone as primary display and output a secondary to the HDMI port. You are also outputting, most likely, a 1280x720 pixels which is almost ~2.5 times more the normal output. So in total you are pushing 3.5 lcd size screen worth of pixels (phone lcs + hdmi). Things can be improved if we freeze the phone display, but that wont be mirroring (maybe a feature in FullHDMI 2). Expect, however, to get more FPS in 3-D games (I get upwards of 40 fps on Raging Thunder 2) than 2-D sine he 2-D engine does the mirroring.
3- Lag: Some TVs (like Insignia) use an image enhancing and noise reducing engine. This extra processing puts the TV about half a second behind the phone making games unplayable by looking at the TV only. Watching movies is fine since nobody cares if the phone is a little faster than the TV. On this Insignia TV, I had to go in and turn off two image enhancing and noise reducing features, and now my phone and TV track together. I know Sony has its own engine, I do not know if the extra processing there introduces lag. I have two other TVs with no lag issues, but then they don't use any image enhancing engines.
Again, the app should not lag in mirroring, if you experience any lag then please check your TV and share your observation with us.
4- This app was not designed to display youtube or other apps that already work over HDMI. To use such apps you should stop FullHDMI from driving the HDMI signal first.
ENJOY
iF YOU DECIDE TO THANK ME FOR POSTING THIS UP, I APPRECIATE IT BUT NOT NEEDED..I DID NOT DEVELOP THIS APP IN ANY WAY, JUST POSTED IT FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT.

IMPORTANT..YOU WILL NEED TO UNZIP THE FILE YOU DOWNLOAD THEN THE KERNEL AND APK ARE IN THERE TO INSTALL!!! You will only need to do this for the RAR file. if downloading from a phone look below
I also uploaded the APK and kernel for everyone on top of the rar file so they can just do it on there phone also. So from the phone download the apk file and the zip file. place those on root of sd card and your good to go. Just boot into recovery and install kernel.

Great post. I guess we will see how this is received now. I must tell you that the mods here tell me that do not not like the spirit in which they say this app was developed . I hope this thread does well to inform people of this type of app and its uses... I also hope those who are against this app being discussed here can refrain from posting and just wait for the dev that they like to come up with their own app that is actually out and available to be tested and used .
I have been using the app for a week or so and am very impressed to say the least . Watching movies wherever j go from my phone has been most awesome.

[DEV] Two-way call recording on Desire [ALMOST SOLVED][Sept. 7 update]

At last, I've nearly succeeded in enabling two-way call recording directly from the phone line on HTC Desire.
This works with the latest 32.54.00.32U_5.14.05.17 radio only.
So far, the line recording was confirmed to work for incoming calls on different 2.6.32 and 2.6.37 based ROMs
The recordings of incoming calls are crystal clear, with the other party recorded as loud as your voice.
The trouble with the outgoing calls needs your help!!! It seems to be a userspace- rather than kernel-related issue: e.g., LeeDroid 2_3d ROM was confirmed to record outgoing calls as well. I'm unable to solve this because I have no Desire (i.e., the device), but I suspect that it may be caused by some other app like dialer or voice dialing stuff stealing the mic before the recording is started.
So, I attach:
1. Two update.zip's with patched stock 2.6.32 and cm7 2.6.37 kernels, wifi modules included (please select a proper one for testing).
2. My rVoix app hastily ported to desire. Many settings won't work, e.g. sound boost/autoanswer. Any other voice recording program won't suit, almost surely.
3. The kernel patches themselves (against the stock HTC kernel from their site and the latest cm7 from their github) -- needed for developers only.
You need a ROOTED device with 32.54.00.32U_5.14.05.17 radio for tests.
I'd be very happy if somebody finds a proper solution for outgoing calls, whatever it might be.
And I'd be even more happy if somebody ports the patches to other qsd/msm7x30 devices like Desire HD/Z, etc.
Please enjoy!
--------------------------
UPDATE:
The problem with outgoing calls is now confirmed to be a userspace issue. I'll patch rVoix.apk when I have a proper solution (cannot do it right now because of deficiency of Android SDK). For time being, please use the following trick to record outgoing calls from the line:
1. Settings->Outgoing calls->Default action, select "Ask each time"
2. When you call somebody, the Yes/No window will appear asking if the call should be recorded.
3. Рress YES button only after your callee responds!
If you press it before, your call will be recorded from the MIKE, otherwise, it'll be recorded from the LINE.

UPDATE:
skvalex wrote an app to record both incoming and outgoing calls automatically! Please look up his posts here.

UPDATE:
Several kernels & ROMs around here have already been patched! My thanks to those developers!!! Please check relevant threads: if you see that the 2-way recording patch is included, you needn't install any update.zip's attached herein: just install rVoix or (even better) an app by skvalex.

Attention!
If you want to help in improving CallRecorder, please add a star to the issue as illustrated on the screenshot below.
This API is of vital importance for CallRecorder, and CallRecorder cannot be fully functional without it.

UPDATE:
I'm attaching a new built for stock Gingerbread 2.6.35, should work with sense-based ROMs (patch sources are at http://code.google.com/p/2-way-call-recording/source/browse/#svn/patches). It includes numerous fixes and AMR support (CallRecorder 1.0.31 or later needed).

UPDATE:
Please visit the site skvalex.com/donate.php, there's very important info by our skvalex!
Sorry i didnt understand how to use patchs !
Never mind, they're for kernel/ROM developers , just install update.zip and rvoix.apk.
Wow do I believe my eyes..
I had almost given up all hope.
I thought no one was playing with this.
Thank's, I shall have a little look and report back.

Thanks Man , You are great.
Hi!
I've tested your app. Great work! As you said on your first post, it's ok with incoming call. With outgoing call, only our voice seems to be recorded. Do you need log?

Thank you, Android logs won't help here (I'm afraid, the kernel tracing is necessary).
Anyway, will you try using "In-call manual control" to start/stop recording during outgoing calls? I don't even know if this setting works at all on Desire...
UPD: I mean, to start after the outgoing connection is really established.
I've tried to make a call, then launch rvox, start the service, end the call: no records. That's what you meant?
Edit: why do you have to update WLAN modules?

Can this update file use in Hd Rom for desire ??
P.S. kernel version and radio are the same

This is interesting.
Would love to see this worked out in general and integrated into my favorite ROM

Why?? Just start the service first. Make sure that the red "rx" is displayed on your taskbar (if you really hate that "rx", check "Disable notifications" in Settings, however, you'll no longer be able to access your recordings from the taskbar, and have to launch rvoix each time you want to browse them or change your settings).
After that, the program waits for the calls, doing nothing (i.e., it won't affect your battery at all) and occupying almost no memory.
For incoming calls, the conversations will be recorded from the phone line, please start rvoix again (either from "rx" icon or manually) and look what's in Recordings.
For outgoing calls, everything will be recorded from the mike.
A temporary workaround is to set "Outgoing calls->Default action->Ask each time", and wait until your callee responds before pressing Yes. Then the call should be recorded from the phone line rather than from the mike.
The WiFi modules are needed because their version must match that of the kernel, they won't load otherwise.

If your device is Desire but _not_ Desire HD, I guess you may try. Be sure to make full backup beforehand.
I tried it on coolexe Desire Z v8 (with the default baadnews kernel) and didn't boot.
Even so, I applaud your effort and hope we will soon get a working solution to be integrated in more ROMs.
i had a strange problem, when i called the other person could not hear me. on ingoing cals everything was OK.
i'm on GingerVillain btw.
lol very nice! thank you so much for your great work avs333. do you think this will work on desire hd? if so I can start an integration project asap

I do think so. The chips are different, but the ice is broke up now, and we should try!
The only way to truly enable 2 way call recording is to include the (very buggy) vocpcm driver in the kernel, once this is achieved its very simple, but getting the driver to do as it should is another story.
Although the above patches do have promise

I have tested this on my desire. The recording for incoming calls are clear, but for outgoing calls I can only hear myself.
I was going to attach the log from your application after recorded two calls, but when I press "view log", it says the log is empty.
My kernel is a homebrew by myself, base on stock desire source, with several small and specific patches that is available on this forum, and of course, your patch. The ROM is RCMixHD 3.4.1 Desire HD rom.

The vocpcm driver cannot be included in the Desire kernel because it communicates with the so-called "SND" RPC-server which is considered obsolete by QC, and is missing in their newer radios.
The driver itself is a neutral thingy which isn't so bad as it sounds, but the odious setup it relies on should have been eradicated ages ago. Current solutions are much more robust and provide for various configurations of the output signals, but those signals can no longer be split into your and other party's voice and, even worse, you cannot write anything to the phone line (so that you'll never be able to implement auto-answering, etc.).
Anyhow, the quality of recordings seems to be a great deal better than that achieved using the vocpcm driver on my Hero

I'm glad that the incoming calls are recorded properly.
The problem with outgoing call is now confirmed to be a userspace issue.
3. NOW, press YES button only after your callee responds!
If you press it before, your call will be recorded from the MIKE, otherwise, it'll be recorded from the LINE.
Logging is enabled in settings, please scroll down and check "Enable detailed logs."
I don't have the faintest clue about programming, but would like to thank you guys in advance for your great work! Not bein able to record calls is my no 1 problem in android!
thanks for your effort, I used this program on my Hero and it worked perfectly. I hope it works also for the Desire one day

[ROM][ALPHA]Honeycomb - OG Droid

THIS ROM IS STILL IN THE ALPHA STAGES!!!!
Here's where you can download the most recent version:
Honeycomb Alpha V0.5.8
Very few things work in this rom, but for good measure here's the list of things that DO NOT work:
Data
Camera
SDCard
Gps
Calls
Battery Status
[ALT] and (hardware) key
Screen Colors (red=blue/blue=red)
App FCs
Original Honeycomb port for the OG Droid thread started by R2doesInc:

======> I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR PORTING HONECOMB TO THE OG DROID
I've put a lot of time and effort into trying to modify R2doesInc's version of HC to function better on the OG droid. There are a lot of problems and I have a small understanding of that I need to edit or replace to get some of them working, but as anyone who knows anything about computers, partial wont work. If anyone is interested in helping, please post here or shoot me a PM.

There was never really a problem to begin with. All you have to do is touch anywhere you can type,

Keep up the good work!
I have my gf's old inactive Droid to play with, and I want to make it into a media device (wifi internet, mp3, games, etc) so this would be perfect for what I want to do with it. I would be more than willing to donate for an operational HC port to this tired, but still good, old device. All I would need is wifi, charging, and usb/pc connectivity. The rest is bonus.
Edit:
On a side note, I don't have much/any real experience with Android development, but I do have some knowledge of programming. I downloaded the SDK and other develpment items a while ago to try, but didnt dive in much. If you would be willing to work with a newb, I would be more than happy to give a bit of time to the cause...

I'm currently working on the USB interface and let me tell you, its a tough nut to crack. I've done some research on it and it seems that there is some bad news (possible delays for a HC USB patch) and some good news (a glimmer of hope in the fact that some other devices have gotten USB functionality). I'm still looking into it, but for now, the only things that I know need to me modified/replaced are '/system/etc/vold.fstab' and '/system/bin/vold'. If there are any other files that I may need to edit or add, anyone, please let me know.
As for the donation part, I don't really deserve donations for what I'm doing. R2doesInc is the one that did all of the work in porting this to the OG Droid. All I'm doing is modifying it to give it more functionality.

I don't mind working with a 'newb' as I too am a newb to the development of roms. I've already learned a lot about working with roms and editing files since I fully dove into working on this. What I need you to do is PM me and I'll give you a basic run down of what I've done (so you can have the same changes made to your copy of OMHC), some notes on what files I've worked with and a list of files that I know of that are connected to each problem. Who knows, by the end of this project we may both be considered devs.
What you need to do is go the R2doesInc's original thread (link in the first post) and follow a link on his page to download the OMHC_Sholes.zip found on his development website. I've emailed him to see if he is willing to help with programming, script writing or advice on how to get some of the functions to work and I'm currently awaiting his reply.
EDIT - The BOLD statement above is no longer true. I have the most recent version linked in the first post. NO ONE HAS TO DO ANY MODDING TO THE ROM TO HAVE THE FUNCTIONS I HAVE ADDED
While it's nice to see forum members contributing to the poll I've attached to this, why don't we get some conversation rolling on this subject. I understand that this idea is a little far-fetched, but with some support and ideas, this could be more functional.
I'm really putting all of the extra time I've got into this (It's not much and I'm currently cutting into my sleep schedule A LOT), but I can't really get anywhere without the help of some experienced or semi-experienced advice. If you have any knowledge of what files are needed for some of the above problems to function, then please post with some advice. The same goes for editing those files.
I'm not a dev, but I'd like to have a more in depth knowledge of how to modify roms from the ground up.
i wish i could give a little bit of help, but i have no idea what i would be doing on the dev side. but i agree, the D1 community is dead. the only thing i could help with is trying to post something on droidforums.com because i think that that site is more active with D1 people. hopefully that helps out a little, but i wish you the best of luck bro and i will be one of the first ones downloading it once its gets stable, i have been waiting for honeycomb for a while. so ill help by giving feedback then.
That would be great, feel free to put a link to this page there if that's allowed. Any dev that could help would be welcomed with open arms
Fixed A Problem
UPDATE - Alpha V0.2
Superuser permissions added
Its the old style and you may have to back out to the home screen (press home soft key in the bottom left of the screen or by pressing search and then the back soft key), but it works. I've been able to use rom manager to reboot into recovery and give Set CPU root access (even though the darn thing FCs after any attempt to change the CPU speeds.
I'm on the D2, but it would be great to see some development for honeycomb, because it seems like once it gets onto one device working well, it spreads like a disease (a good disease... like... something good that spreads like a disease ahaha). The development at droidforums tends to be semi-alive for the OG Droid, though, because I see new posts there almost daily. I'm sure the community would love to help, since there seems to be a pretty solid core of OGD developers there!

Honeycomb would definitely be a great disease to have spreading around. From what I understand the ZTE Blade and the HTC HD2 are the two phones with the most features enabled from HC. Most others are basically in the same boat as the OG Droid.
I'm still digging around a lot to see if I can find anything else to get to work. I'm still having a lot of problems getting the SD Card to mount. The most frustrating things is while running the HC rom, I can enable USB debugging, but my computer (no matter what program I'm using) doesn't recognize my phone. I'll jump between droidforums and here to see about getting anything working.
---UPDATE FOR ROM---
Ok, so this isn't actually anything big. I installed rzr recovery on my phone and used it to overclock my phone to 1100MHz. The rom runs a lot smoother with the overclock, but there's still a lot of lag. I still need to figure out how to make the Hardware accel work.
BE CAREFUL WITH THIS RECOVERY. IT WAS INTENDED FOR RZ ROMS AND MAY NOT LOAD YOUR BACKUPS CORRECTLY!!!
I've also noticed that some apps like to FC when trying to perform certain functions. Maybe because they're not for HC, but I'll be looking into it. Also, I've been kind of ignoring a problem with coloring because Its not all that important, but I'm adding it to the "to do" list
This is great. Keep up the good work friend!

Update - Minor Thread tweaking
I cut out all of the fat and renamed the thread. Also added a link to download Alpha V0.2
I'm still looking for somewhat experienced devs to take a look under the hood and try to help out. Anyone who would like to test the rom can now that I've uploaded it to the web.
Please, PLEASE remember that this rom is still in alpha stages and needs a lot of work or overseeing from an experienced dev. If you notice any problems that are not listed on the main page, please let me know so I can add it to the "to do" list.
Sorry for the delay in a response, Mastur. I have a 7 week old and a new house as well as working nights, so its been short on free time. I will get you a PM tomorrow and try to give you a hand from there. Thanks!
No worries man. I've been hard at work, but I still need help with this. My friend is familiar with xml and html but not with the android OS. So I don't know how much help he'll be. I don't know anyone familiar with java, but I'm not sure how important that really is...
HUGE update coming a little later! A lot of work finished and screen shots uploaded
EDIT - Update's in!!!! The link to the new alpha of Honeycomb is in the first post. Happy downloading =)

[APP][2.1+][05 FEB] Silent Hours 4.0 - Mute your device during set times

Silent Hours
Silent Hours is an application which mutes the audio on your device during times set by you, to allow for better sleep during the night or during boring lectures.
Features:
Perform a quick mute for a set duration
Mute the audio on your device during set times
Possible to also mute media
Possible to activate vibration
Set brightness to desired level upon mute
Lock volume to muted, to avoid accidental changes
Temporarily unmute sound on incoming calls
Reboot persistent
I am aware of the fact that several applications like this already exist on the Play Store, but I am of the opinion that more options are better, at least if they are developed with quality and reliability in mind.
Several of the other alternatives also lack own graphics/drawables, which makes them look different with different manufacturer skins, and many have not been updated in a long time.
Changelog:
IMPORTANT: Because of a crashed hard drive and Google Play limitations, version 3.0 and forward had to be submitted as a new application.
13.02.05 (v4.0):
Fixed issues with calls unmuting sound when it shouldn't
New GUI
Added brightness settings for periods - lower the brightness during the night
Preparations for bigger updates
Code:
[B]12.09.03 (v3.0.1):[/B]
[LIST]
[*]Added Quick mute: Set a quick, one time silent period
[*]The options to unmute on incoming call and to lock the volume are now period specific

I really can't understand why my applications are incompatible with some devices even though the Developer Console says they should be compatible. Both of your devices are said to be supported.

That was fast! Thanks!
I'll check them out and hope to give some positive feedback!
Since I'm no developer I cannot help you with the market problem, but because I had some market, sorry, play store problems with the ROM on the Nexus last week, I also tried installing it via Web browser on my laptop. Last time that worked but with your apps it did not.
EDIT:
Okay, that solved the problem! At least installation via web browser worked on my Nexus but that could be the above mentioned problem with the ROM.
Now both apps are installed and I will try them! I think I will give you feedback during the next days! Thanks again!

I have thought about it, and it has been suggested a few times before for both this and my other app. I am a bit concerned about whether a 48 item list would be too long on a small to medium sized display.
On the other hand, for most users it is a one time setup so I guess the inconvenience would not be that great.
If I don't hear any protests I will implement 30 minute intervals for the time tomorrow.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Funny, exactly what I thought!
The .5 hour intervals were what I missed first but then again I thought about how long the list would be...
Any chance to get that 'revolve' function (don't really know what term to be used but I hope you know what I mean) like the alarm clock in ICS but with 30 min intervals instead of 1 min?
Other than that I like your apps! Very clean interface, not overloaded and they integrate nice into the new Android look...
Just have yet to check, if they work without problems.
EDIT: I also checked if the apps are shown on my LG P500, which I gave to my significant other. Both apps are available, so the problem is still on my ROMs side.

I'll look into the possibility and difficulty in doing something like that tomorrow, hopefully it's doable.
I'm glad you like the apps and the way they look, tried to make a unified look that went well with (primarily) ICS.
It's great that it worked on the LG as well! Strange, however, that the copy protection was the culprit. I only ever used it because I wanted to keep a better track of my number of installs, so if I had known this would happen I wouldn't have enabled it.
Good luck with the time settings! And although I appreciate all the work put into intellectual property, I have seen many times that copy protection makes problems (remember star force copy protection on games, I cracked games I bought, just because they did not work with that p.o.s.). In your case I think the number of downloads will increase without the copy protection, because more people will be able to install your apps ;-)

Thanks!
Me too, and since my apps really are free (and if anyone wants to "steal" the donate version they can be my guest since it's the same as the free version), in retrospect it seems like an odd choice by me.
And yes, it will probably increase. ^^
Silent Hours is now updated in Google Play Store
Changes in v1.2:
IMPORTANT: When updated to v1.2, times set before update may stop working properly because of the new way to set times. Please restart the service using the new method.
Added the possibility to set times with five minute intervals
Added a time picker of my own creation, inspired by the one from Android 4.0. This may have some kinks to work out.
Screenshot of the new time picker:

I hope you like the changes, enjoy! If you do, please rate the app in Play Store.
Hi Akerskuuug,
I just made an update of SH. First of all, thanks for integrating 5min intervals! It is just cosmetic, but could you implement it that way it is done in Android, where you can also get to for example 23.00 by decreasing from 0.00? If not it doesn't matter, like I said before, just cosmetics, as most users will set the time not that often! To not only criticise let me add, that I tested your app not only on the Nexus S I use, but also on the forementioned LG P500 (just because you response that fast and take care of us users ) and it works as it should!

I will look into the possibility of having an "infinite" scroll in the time picker.
Thanks for testing on both devices! The users, and especially users like you make development worth the time and effort it takes.

Hey Akerskuuug,
yesterday I played a little with the settings and checked the "lock volume" option. Unfortunately the phone didn't change from silent mode this morning! Also, the lock was still activated (took some time til I realized it, when I tried to activate the ringer ^^) Could you have a look into that?

I will look into it as soon as possible. No ROM or kernel updates or anything since the sound was disabled?

Add an option to enable ringing, yet mute other sounds and you have a winner. I want my phone to ring in case of an emergency, but notifications should be silent while I am asleep

Thank you for the tip, I tried implementing it and right now I'm testing if it works properly. If it does I will update the app in Play Store with this functionality during the evening.
