While I feel your response to rule 11 was spot on, I think yours could use some rule 2.3 evaluation. There are mods for a reason, and while I have read through the rules, I don't reveiw them for each post, and wouldn't have remembered rule 11 myself.
Rule 34, though, is a totally different story.....

an even easier method would be to take the battery out, hold down on the volume down button, and plug in the usb cable.

I like how you censor "asshole" but not "douche"

Rule 2.3 I am following (admittedly in my own way) I am "working together to solve a problem" the problem of posts not being where they should be and forum rules.
And douche is a product not a cuss.

Download JIG

I've been waiting for about three weeks now for my jig to arrive in the mail and I am starting to think it is not coming. If anyone here lives in the Vancouver area and sells or rents jigs please PM me thanks.
Why not just make one? Its just a 301k ohm resistance across pins 4 and 5 of the microusb slot. Shouldn't cost more than 90c in parts and 10 minutes of time.

Sometimes not. If you reach the phone ! computer screen it is almost impossible without a jig. I say almost impossible because some phones (mine included) can get back to download via usb and button combos. A jig can also be quicker sometimes when trying to fiddle around with button combos and such.
ways to get into download
2 button combo + USB
advanced power menu
from clockwork options
with adb command
with AIO toolbox (via adb...)
with jig
and there have been several users able to flash with odin AT THE " PHONE /!\ PC " screen...

Phone-!-Computer means a "soft-brick".. Why would you want to get to that?
Your phone won't actually be bricked but it will be unsuable until you get in download mode and flash back with Odin3 1 click. (which is populary called a soft-brick)

If you like to flash your ROM it is a great idea. It makes it a snap to get into download mode and sure beats the normal way.

The cheapest usb jig you will find ANYWHERE.
Cheap enough I think. You can thank qkster for that link. Got one coming from Amazon tomorrow. Paid 6 bucks. And there are more than enough decent guides out there too. I simply wasn't a fan of hacking up one of the two cables that I had around. Good luck. Nice job thinking ahead, don't cut it to the last minute, like I did.

i've seen some that resets your counters
Its compatible with the Infuse kid trust me i have like 4 of them lol
as for the counter i doubt it but if youre worried about it
why flash
why worry about a jig??
its pretty simple logic
no pun intented
Funny thing about this, a buddy of mine and I made one of these last week to reset the counter on his Epic Touch, worked great so i kept it. Once I flashed the new cm9 build to my phone I decided to plug it in to see if it worked the same... and it just booted my phone.
Are there different pinout/resistance combos for different phones or did my phone just go weird on me (i wasn't concerned enough to shut back down the phone and try it again)
thanks

i've read some forum and post about DIY jig and pinout/resistance combos, and if you solder 4,5 pins you'll get sgs 1 to download mode , but if you want sgs 2 you will need 3,5 pins so i don't know... i guess the point is different pins are needed to get different device to work
i bought the cheap ebay jig and see how it goes. only a buck

Sorry to say I did this to my first s3 by accident. Nothing u can do unless u can get it into download mode. Which the only way you can do that with a hard brick is by using a jig. Google galaxy s3 jig. U can buy one cheap or watch a YouTube video on how to make one for around $2. But other than that ur only option is to turn it into the phone insurance or maybe Verizon will jtag it for u. U can Google jtag as well. That's all the help I have for u. Good luck!!!!!

I never said a jig would work. I Personally just returned mine for a new one at best buy. I just saw online about people using a jig to force it into download mode. I was just throwing out ideas. No need to be rude. And I also mentioned jtag.

Dont see how I was being rude. I was just trying to stop him from spending 2 days making a jig for nothing. And u told him to "google it". if the op knew how to use Google, he probably wouldn't be here asking a question that's been answered 1000 times already. So I provided a link. And u mentioned verizon jtaging it. They dont do that. Not to mention, even if they did, a tad stupid to have them do it if u ask me.

Let me guess... flashed an international ROM? If you can't get into download mode then send it to mobile tech videos for jtag service. Please don't take it back to Verizon. You're only solidifying their decision to lock bootloaders by not owning up to your own mistakes.
I also highly recommend mobile tech for fixing hard bricks. Only $60 and they had fast turnaround. Handy for when you've stupidly (speaking from personal experience here) flashed something you shouldn't have.
What all do you have to send to them? Do they need your usb cord?

[q] help with brick sgs3 vzw

ok i pulled a noob move and went to flash the wrong rom on my gs3, i got the error 7 msg which im pretty sure means its a rom for a different model, prolly i900 or whatever but i didnt reflash my old rom like an idiot and clicked reboot phone, BOOM hard brick! when i take the battery out and plug it in to my computer my LED notification comes on RED but other than that its a pretty paper weight. it will not turn on for anything tried all button combos im thinking i can buy a little usb jig from ebay, but i dont know if it will help me. Do i need to take it apart and like force the thingy inside it, i think its the internal SD or something please help, i feel so retarded. HOW TO UNBRICK VZW SGS III!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't think the jig will help here. Sounds like you'll need JTAG. Its about 60, but you gitta send your phone off for repair.

Yeah EdwardPace, use that link to MobileTechVideos for a Jtag. I also pulled a noob move and had to get mine repaired. Took about a week but my phone is back and in perfect working order. Sounds kind of expensive but compared to having to buy a 600 dollar replacement, it's well worth it.

No, it will not bypass the need for Odin. All it bypasses is the need to hold vol down+home while powering on.

which tab are you considering buying?. the wifi's only, well, you already know the answer. the ones you can make a call with which I am assuming are the one you are asking about can be used as a hotspot as per several verizon youtube video.
USB OTG is USB on the go. The ability to plug a USB flash drive or external hard drive in via a special cable.

The verizon tab 2 7.0 cannot make phone calls, I wish!
As far as OTG goes, I'm not sure. I'm sure Verizon would know the answer, maybe.. I'd like to this too so if you find out let us know :good:
In /mnt there are several mount pointes:
/mnt/UsbDriveA through /mnt/UsbDriveF, if that makes a difference.

Verizon has no idea, neither does samsung. They act like I'm speaking chinese when I ask them. My company is considering buying all the field techs a tablet for work, but i has to have USB OTG, so I'm going to go to the VZW store tomorrow and try out a tab 2 10.1 and see if it recongnize it.
PS my xoom will, with the "stock" 4.0.4 firmware, however i has to be rooted and use "stickmount" by chainfire to get it to work.
This would seems to suggest it would, however the adapter doesn't mention the tab 2, only the tabs
http://www.amazon.com/OEM-Connection-Reader-SAMSUNG-GALAXY/dp/B006DQWIKK
If the tab 10.1 can support it I'm going to guess the tab 2 can as well. They only cost $2 so I may grab one myself, if it doesn't work I didn't lose anything
