[Q] Is there an audio video cable for the vibrant? - Galaxy S I9000 Accessories

Hello,
Haven't been able to find one of these but I'm looking to connect an audio video cable to the aux input in my minivan from my phone so that the kids can watch videos on the dvd video screen in the van.
Are there any cables for this setup? The inputs are yellow, red and white.
Thanks in advance.
Samsung GT-i9000M, Froyo 2.2, JL2, HardcoreSpeedMod, Darkys ROM 9.2

you actually need the Nokia cable for that you can buy them on Ebay, amazon or at your local mobile store. the name of the cable is: Nokia-Video-Video-Out-CA-75U, i could not post links or youtube video for you, sorry.
IMO: the sound is really soft, video is good quality

Great! I'll check it out.

TV Out - Pictures

Ok, I can't find the post that asked for details about the TV Out cable, but mine arrived today, so I've attached a few pics of it in action.
When you plug the cable in, you're asked which type of output you want to use (PAL or NTSC). Once you choose, the device forces itself into landscape mode and displays the "Video Out" screen with four shortcuts (Powerpoint, Pics & Vids, Internet, YouTube).
You can choose one of the shortcuts, or just go to the Start Menu - everything is mirrored on the TV screen. I used Coreplayer to start playing an XVid of "Be Kind Rewind". There was a bit of flicker when using the "Qtv Display" option, but the "DirectDraw" option was flicker free, and worked flawlessly. No slowdown or judder at all with my 700Mb file, and the picture quality on the TV was surprisingly good.
Programs like YouTube which have to be displayed in Portrait mode, and pictures displayed in portrait mode are shown with black bars on the sides of the TV screen, while the device just rotates itself back to portrait mode.
Opera looks good on the big screen too, there's a picture of the BBC homepage, with plenty of small text, which is certainly more readable on a 32" screen than it is on a 2.8" screen...
Any questions, ask away, but I think it's pretty self explanatory...
Edit: One more thing. While I was taking these pictures, I received a call. Pressing the "Answer" button put the phone in Speakerphone mode, with the audio routed through the TV - very good quality it was too.
Cool, thanks for posting. I was hoping to hold out for a while, but I think I might have to jump on one of these whenever they are released in the US. Hopefully the CDMA version isn't too crippled compared to the GSM version. I'd switch to a GSM carrier, but I only pay $30 a month for 500 minutes, unlimited text/pic messages, unlimited data, etc. AT&T just can't beat that.
Great shots!!

Dude...I don't know if it's your TV or the camera you're using but these shots are AMAZING!
It looks like I'll be able to sell my projector and do my PPT presentations straight from the TP.
Can't wait!! Thanks for sharing!

The TV's over two years old now, but I still haven't found one that gives a better picture (annoying - because I'm trying find a 42" upgrade).
Camera was just a Nokia N95 that I have to hand, and the pics were shrunk to get them below the forum posting limit.
When you plug it can you touch the TV instead of the phone screen?
JK of course!
Very good quality, even web browsing looks very decent! Where did you buy the cable, and how much did you pay?
The dreaded Expansys, I'm afraid:
£16.99 for the cable
£8.49 for a 3.5mm headphone adapter
£4.06 for delivery
£10 off with a voucher
£19.54 total
I think they make up the delivery prices as they go along?!
Was really worried what the performance would be like when playing videos as I read alot it's mainly for presentations.
Now, I feel ok with the upcoming purchase
Thx man
This is the first device in ages where using DirectDraw in CorePlayer doesn't mean stuttering and page tearing to at least some extent.
And there's no need to worry, performance doesn't alter at all when the TV cable is plugged in.
It can only be a good thing that you can plug the charger into the TV cable though, because the screen stays lit on the device while you're watching through the TV. For a two hour movie, I'm pretty sure the battery would take a big hit...
That is so amazing! Do you think you can post of shot of you going through a PowerPoint presentation?
WOW! that's really awesome. I can make use of that.
The Raphael, Is A Must Got To Have Mobile Device

I'll give remote desktop a go on Monday when I'm back at home.
No idea what the output resolution is, but I'd be surprised if it was anything other than 640 x 480, the image on a widescreen TV appears to be stretched slightly to fit the width.
It's just composite, not VGA. I guess you could try using a VGA cable from an HTC Advantage, but I have no idea if that'd work...

Said three days when I ordered too, but it turned up the next day. Postman was knocking on the door about 30 minutes after I got the e-mail to say it had been despatched...
Does anyone make a mini usb to 15 pin cable? I know you can buy mini usb to RCA cable and then a RCA to 15 pin cable.
I'm wondering because then you could connect Raphael directly to a projector for Power Point presentations for business.

HTC make one for the Advantage. As I said a couple of posts ago though, no idea if it'll work on the Raphael...
Video
Is there any chance we can get a video shot of the performance on the video out? I'd love to see if it would actually be worth it to use as a video player on the road?
Thanks good job!
Finally a reason why I would put a full lenght movie on my phone. Watching movie on a 2.8 inch screen is dumb. It's only for show. Now, With the tv output, I can put 4 movies and watch in anywhere there's a tv. Even on my Mini van's 12 inch lcd.Whooohooo!!

I'm sure it's gonna perform OK. The phone's resolution is 640x480. A dvd quality is 720x480 so It will look fine fasho.

Why no micro composite out on the Droid X, Incredible has it

Hello guys, I love my Droid X but watched some videos of people hooking up to composite (much better than HDMI, not so limited). Anyone know how we can get this on the Droid X? I have a nice stereo in my car that plays movies and would love to see exactly what I see on my droids screen on my stereo. I repeat the INcredible does this!!!! Thanks
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=hdmi+to+composite+adapter
personally, every tv or screen in my house has hdmi, and I use bluetooth in the car while watching movies on the droid x, so it works pretty good for me.
did you check the google search before you made that link? it looks like he wants the out for his car, all that google brings up is set top boxes that do converting. which isn't mobile and probably isn't very easy to incorporate into a car.
I think your SOL buddy, the only option is to go with the htc inc, while it doesn't do HD out, it will broadcast all of the screen all the time, as opposed to the evo which i hear just does video output (youtube video players) and the droidx that only does gallery output
someone wants this over hdmi?
Technically HDMI is better than comp, comp is video only, no audio. Why would you do that? Not only that, HDMI can support higher resolution than comp, above 1080, not that it matters being that the X can only play 720. Just saying, why would you purposely limit yourself? its dumb.
I was wondering the same thing. And I'd prefer comp because my house isn't filled with hdtv's so outputting hdmi isn't all that helpful to me. This feature actually plays a big part with why I may be choosing the Incredible over the Droid X but if i could do this on the X, I may be easily swayed.
I would prefer to find an hdmi to component adapter.
well and theres no HDMI to comp "adapater" all the HDMI to comp products you see are full on hardwire that has a chip that has to read the HDMI and reformat the single to comp. so a whole box needing it's own power and what not isn't very usable for a phone.
unforently it's not like svid to comp something like that the single doesn't need to be reformatted. The big deal hear is you would need to go digital to analog and there's no way of doing that without serious hardware.
unforently the hdmi out on the phone isn't like hdmi or dvi out on a computer (that can pass a analog signal as well as digital.

Mytouch 4G Slide Tv Out function

I'm not quite sure what tv out is, but I was wondering how I can connect my phone to my tv and view through my tv any content on my android phone. I have a mytouch 4g slide. For example, could I view the internet on my TV through my phone? Any help is greatly and desperately appreciated.

The MT4GS does video out through its headphone jack. The pinout is the same as the cables for 5th Gen iPods, the one I have is the "Composite Video/Stereo Audio Output Cable for Original 5th Gen Apple iPod Video - 6ft" from monoprice for $1.43 (don't post enough here to link). It works well enough - the image quality is obviously only what you can get out of composite, which isn't great by modern standards, but it's fine for playing SD video or the like. The normal screen stays active, and the content is mirrored to the TV when connected.

Here is the link to the original thread about this topic. The mt4gs records in 1080p, the tv out is not, nor have I ever heard the claim that our phone would out put at 1080p.
I have the iPod cable from Amazon. It works, quality is meh on a 1080p LCD, but it's good enough to share funny YouTube videos at a party or what have you.
It also works great with netflixs.

What Android phones support video out on headphone jack?

What Android phones support video out on headphone jack?
It seems like a feature every phone should support.
I would like to have a phone mirror the display to the dvd player in my car, which has composite inputs. 3.5 jack to composite is perfect. it would be nice to have google nav on a big screen, and listening to Pandora at the same time..
Your post made me curious about it, so I did a bit of searching. It seems the only phone capable of it is international (I guess this means non-US) versions of the Samsung Galaxy S. Then there are some tablets with this ability, particularly from Archos. But phones, it looks like it's only the Galaxy S.
The reason this isn't more widespread is that if a modern phone will go for video out, it'll be HDMI.

That really is a bummer. I don't think that will work for composite video. I will do some searches, but i think my goal its now doa

is it just me, or does this seem like something that could be enabled by a software patch?

You would need a extra pin in the headphone jack.. Beyond that it should be only software. But i have a fascinate and no one has found out how to enable it yet.

Why would you need an extra pin? There are more than enough in a standard plug, to carry a composite video signal.
Would just have to be a clever software package...

Pretty sure its hardwired through the headphone amp. Its a hardware thing.. Putting video through a headphone amp would not be desirable. Now, with a 5th pin for video (which my phone has) then yea. Should just take software. But no one has cracked it yet.

SGS i9000 has TV out on 3.5 jack you need the same 3.5 to RCA video cable as the one made by Nokia
i've used it before, quality is okay, it's RCA composite (think S-video quality in VHS), so don't expect much, it's not going to look like a USB to HDMI out quality

TL;Dr, experiments led to Revelation: only two signals minimum needed.
so I was being weird, and bored, and I actually have a headphone to RCA jack. so what do I do? I send audio through the video port, and I see that the audio actually does cause images on the screen to appear. they may be simple white and black lines, but yea. It still works. the only thing someone needs to do in terms of sending a video to a TV, is recording the screen, converting said screen frame-by-frame into the RCA video code, and then sending that through one of the headphone signals. (Either left or right) and then taking both left and right audio signals, converting them into a mono audio, and then sending it out to the other one. boom! done... I would do this myself, but I Don't have the app-making know-how.

[Q] Video Streaming over TRRS?

Hello Folks!
Maybe thats a dumb question, but why not?
So this is the situation...I have an really old and big TV at home, which only has RCA Inputs. As I watch a lot videos on youtube/other websites, I was wondering how to get these videos on the TV for maximum comfort
So this day I found an old TRRS->RCA Cable back from my Nokia N95, which seemed to work (checked it with a measuring instrument; it's the OMTP Standard). Looks like this.
I was enthusiastic and plugged it in, turned the TV on - the sound was running nicely, but there was no video. Ok; I thought 'maybe it's only a software issue and I have to share the Nexus' screen anywhere'...but I could not find it.
So I was browsing the whole afternoon to find a solution and I found this on reddit. I know, that this was possible with an old Galaxy S and some HTC Devices.
Is it true, that the TRRS Jack in our Nexus 5 can only be used for Microphones?
Is there no way to say the device via software to use that ring on the TRRS as video output?
Does anyone know if the board is configured or is it hard-wired only to work like this?
I'm running newest OmniRom 4.4.4 Nightly.
Please don't say "buy a new TV ans use HDMI, buy these, buy that"...as I'm a poor student I don't want to spend a lot money
(been thinking about buying the new RasPi which has exactly this feature, but I don't know how good video streaming is working with this one...)
