Hello,
I've just bought an HTC HD2.
I received it like this :
- Rom : netDrg 2.5j
- Radio : 2.10.50.28_2
Here is my problem :
I copied lots of mp3 files on my SD card, about 2000 files.
When I start the player, I must wait about 30 sec before getting any song, and I must wait about 2 hours to get the list of artists or of albums. I think theses lists are built with the tags.
When I do the same thing with 300 files, there is no problem, everything works fast.
I tried with other players (Gsplayer and Tcpmp), its the same.
Could anyone tell me what to do : another player ? another Rom ?
Thank you... and excuse me for my bad english ;-)
Pascal.
Try Nitrogen. If you are having trouble with that i would start looking at the collection itself as a possible source of your issues. (Perhaps the Tag data needs cleaning up or you have a couple of corrupt files in there).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523505
It doesn't speed up after time? I would think once it gets the info tagged it would then be done and move quickly. It has to do the initial cataloging though.
Hello and thank you for your first answers.
I've already tried nitrogen with the same bad results.
And Joshme, you're right, its better after the initial cataloging : no need to wait 2 hours, but "only" 30 sec
Another problem : this cataloging action is done again after a power off, a reboot or even a PC connection in UBS mode. It reacts as if it doesn't record this database.
Concerning the tags, I did them myself for all the files with a tageditor on a PC : I replaced all the tags with "artist name - song title" read from the mp3 file name.
I thout it was a good way to have something clean. Wasn't I right ?
Pascal.
Hello
I found the solution.
I dispatched my files into several directories : 100 files per directory (instead of 700 )
Now, initial cataloging lasts 78 sec instead of 2 hours !
Great !
Its maybe a limitation of WM6 ?
Anyway thank you for your help.
Pascal.
You've stumbled upon the correct solution! Now that you've said it i remember having to do this myself when i used WM. Any folders with more than 100 songs in were split into two folders of 50+ and then everything loaded much faster and smoother.
Well it doesn't apply to me and my droid, but still good to know. Thanks!

Hi!
New to this forum and new to the wonderful world of Windows Mobile.
Coming from a palm-world where most things just tend to work, this has been somewhat of a reminder of the early Windows desktop days.
I'm having some issues (One of these issues made me choose this forum, if this was in error, I apologize in advance).
1. Active sync worked once, but never again.
It seems the mp3-files I added (251 of them), makes active sync just time-out in the media stage. I have not found a way to remove media from active sync either to confirm this. I cannot access settings since it times out with the sync. Edit: The media-row in the active-sync window also states that the installation has to be completed first. Which it already has.
2. Media player does not add files to library.
I do the file-search and it finds 251 files on the SD-card, makes a slight paus and finds 4 more files. Then it adds only those 4 files. accessing the storage card in the library and my music only produces an unexpected error. I have not tried to empty and reformat, or a lower file-count just yet. But to me this seems like a bug that not only scans the storage-card but also the device and then only adds what's on the device. What is added is 4 ring-tones.
3. A2DP...
Well, I read the instructions on the two threads dedicated to this, but it does me no good since I find no files in either of them. I am willing to host those files for you if needed by the way. I really want A2DP since I already got the Jabra BT-620s.
4. Not a real important one but, overclocking.
I ran the OMAP_TI_Overclock thingie, but absolutely nothing changes. Still 195 Mhz whatever I do. I find people have fall-backs in a few minutes or after reset, but this is immediate. The utility says it sets the clock and that the current clock has changed, but as soon as I go to the system-info it says 195. And starting the utility again it says it set as 180 (which according to the system obviously equals 195 ).
These are the current obstacles to overcome before I turn to media-control from the headset, and other more daily handling stuff that obviously already works fine (Voice-control, and contacts and stuff)
There was something more, but I forgot. I'll return to that. Now I'm off to the golf course hoping for some good advice to start pouring in...
Best Regards
Bo Eriksson
1. Buy a card-reader. They're cheap and save your nerves as AS 4.1 is EXTREMELY unstable comparing to 3.8 one
2. Dunno.
3. Try reading again. Works just fine
4. In the ABOUT info you'kk never see the change as it's not a monitor of CPU but the info contained like plain TXT. as for the program use action-set clock - and then action-exit. If you do load it before you turn Prophet off you'll see the clock is still in there
About #1:
Yes, I have several. More than I have computers actually, which is a lot!
Not that more helps in this case. I got my S200 Yesterday so I am really only starting out to get things going. This is just my initial small problems. I just find it frustrating that I cannot change what will be synced with Active sync until a sync is successfully completed, which is never. So We'll see how I solve that one...
About #4:
Is there a real system info utility around?
About #3:
I am sure it works fine. I just cannot find the needed files. They're nowhere around for download. At least not in the threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=43992&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=225
And:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=275438#275438
So if you know where they are (Especially the one talked about in the first thread), please direct me towards them.
Best regards

1. I just mean uploading thru AS WAS ALWAYS laggy and still is unles you do upload small files.
4. Why would you want one, you just see it working faster.
3. I attached both files zipped for you.
Ok, I got A2DP working now, Great, and thanks. I didn't realize the files only were visible while logged in , yup real newbie-alert .
And I installed Resco Explorer to do things more easily.
What remains is the problem with my Media library.
I cannot fathom what's going on. It's like this. I have 221 files on the storage card, and the system has 4 on the device itself. It scans both and lists 225 as found, then it takes a good 3 minutes adding files. Then it reports 4 files added. And only the library on my device shows anything (The four ringtones) trying to access the storage card library only results in an error.
Still, I can just click any of the files in the explorer and it plays perfectly (now in glorious wireless stereo!)... So there's nothing wrong with the card and the files. It's just the Library update thingy that fails me.

Bo Eriksson
I solved the Media Library thing.
I started deleting albums and doing new updates, but still no luck even down to one single MP3. So then I remembered something someone said in a thread somewhere about the MSMETADATA folder containing the library, so I simply removed it from the storage card and updated the library again. Voila! Now it works!
From now on I will only add a smaller number of files at a time, doing new library updates...
So now it's only the Active Sync problem remaining.
I just can't get it to work anymore. I tried reinstalling it late yesterday, but no luck...

OK im annoyed now - i flashed a new rom last month and it was beautiful up until last week ish when all my streaming apps just stopped working claiming that 'Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.' - i get this error message (or variations) in rss hub, windows media player, TCPMP, the streaming media app, youtube video just fails, and others. really starting to p*** me off now as i cant do anything with my phone
i have over a gig free on the storage card and over 200mb free of internal flash - what the hell is going on!?
if anyone can shed some light on this i would be most grateful
cheers
fusi
ok well i give up forum searches have suggested the only 'fix' is to hard reset. lol that totally sucks i havent figured out whats causing it - one day it was working - the next it wasnt im gonna flash genesis tonight sod it so im banking on that clearing it out - hope this doesnt happen again
Edit - nevermind.
Dunno what's going on, but maybe you needed to check your temp folders. I've found big files in \windows\temp before after streaming hulu and other videos.
Get a memory management software like Memaid or Advacnced Config. and be sure everything except for PIE cahes to your storage card.
Then clean your system.
Thanks for the suggestions guys - i re-flashed in the end but if it happens again ill do as you suggest - though im pretty sure i had loads of space free on the flash and sd as well as ram
cheers!
Are you sure the message was for storage memory and not just memory? You can run out of virtual program memory pretty easily on a lot of roms (just read the 6.5 thread in hacking), even if you have plenty of free ram.
the message i got was exactly as is displayed in the topic of this thread - nice and vague isnt it ^^;
im pretty sure there were no memory issues of any kind on the device at the time of the problem - everything worked apart from streaming - pretty sure the OS got itself confused somehow - hohum!
Try creating a folder in \windows called "cache". Then see if junk appears there (it may require a reset to work). In sk tools, it shows \windows\cache as a junk directory, but I think you have to create the folder to see it.
thats quite an ingenious suggestion - if it happens again ill have a look and report the findings ^^;
cheers
fusi
Don't get too excited yet, lol. Yesterday, I downloaded some youtube vids to main memory and then cut and paste them to my sd card. But the memory wasn't released for whatever reason, even though the files weren't showing up anymore. I deleted them with sk tools, but didn't think of making the cache folder til later. I haven't been able to replicate the un-released memory since then.
Ok, so I was messing around with youtube (watching Danger Island, lol). I found that if I opened total commander w/o closing youtube (used voice command), there are a bunch of temp files in the windows\youtube folder. There was a 3 MB .dat file and a 10 MB temp.3GP file. The latter was clearly the video. When I closed youtube, all the temp files disappeared. I suspect that something is going wonky with your temp files clearing out, or that watching big streaming vids dumps a massive file into main memory that gives the errors. The only way to find them is to look while the streaming app is running. (You can pause it, I'm sure).
Following on from another thread where people were asking about availability of apps to start a looping video recording app, I've started work on this, and have made some promising initial progress.
I'm having to do this with Mortscript since the only language I can code in is not suitable for writing phone/pc apps sadly, but so far it looks to be quite suitable.
If you're interested in this I'm afraid you'll have to be quite patient as I can't promise it will be complete by any date and I might even fail to complete it, but I'm posting up now because I believe that it's still useful at its current state.
Basically what the code does at the moment is as follows:
Tells you how much memory is spare on your SDcard
Asks you what you want the minimum remaining memory (in MB, ie when your remaining memory reaches a certain point the script stops recording)
Opens the camera in video mode
Begins recording
Once recording, the remaining memory is checked every 5 seconds
When the remaining memory dips below the amount you specified the recording stops, the camera turns off, and a message confirming remaining memory is displayed.
If you add the script to the appropriate start menu folder then you can add it as a home screen shortcut like any other app, so that just one touch will fire it up.
At present I have not started working on the actual looping functionality of the video, so it records until it reaches the memory limit you specify, or until you stop it manually, but I think this is still useful.
Now for the 'funny' important stuff:
Please understand this code comes with absolutely no promises/guarantees etc - if you choose to use it, you do so entirely at your own risk and I am not responsible for any outcome of doing so. I've run it several times and it has worked well for me, but there's no guarantee that it will behave the same for others.
I'm not going to be answering questions about the most basic stuff in relation to Mortscript. Please read up on the basics of what it is and what it does, and how you implement it before using this script. It's nothing personal, just that my free time is extremely limited so I can't afford to spend it answering potentially lazy questions.
Do as you wish with the script if you want to modify it and improve it, or just tailor it to your own needs. For instance, you may wish to do away with the question about minimum remaining memory and set a fixed amount so the recording begins from just one shortcut press. I've set it like that really for ease of testing but it may be handy for people who want to keep a certain amount of their card empty.
You may have to change minor bits of this script to make it work for you. Main example I can think of is depending on where the default location is for video recording files on YOUR phone (ie storage or card - it should be card for this script to work), and also the name of your card. On mine the card is called "Storage Card" - yours may be different and would therefore affect the script.
Other stuff I've not thought of yet but that people might whinge about.
In a nutshell though, I hope some of you find this useful, and at some point hopefully in the not too distant future this might be a bit more automated and do exactly as some of us wanted on the other threads about looping video.
If others want to use this as a base and finish the job I'm not going to be upset shall we say.
Script in post #2
Either download the zip file, unzip and place the script in an appropriate folder on your memory card, or copy this script code into a notepad file & save it, then change the files extension from .txt to .mscr & place it where it needs to live.
Script contents/zip download:
Code:
Free1 = FreeDiskSpace( "\Storage Card")
Freemb1 = Free1 / 1048576
Message((Freemb1& "MB left") , "Memory remaining:" )
Min = Input( "Remaining Memory Cutoff Limit(MB)?")
MinMem = Min * 1048576
set Mem, MinMem
Run( "\windows\camera.exe", "-v" )
WaitForActive "Camera",5000
mouseclick(240, 700)
set Delay, 5000
while wndActive "Camera"
sleep Delay
Free2 = FreeDiskSpace( "\Storage Card")
Freemb2 = Free2 / 1048576
if (Free2 le Mem)
# end recording & close camera
mouseclick(240, 700)
close "Camera"
Message((Freemb2& "MB left free") , "Memory Info:" )
#to do - delete the file just created
#to do - start recording again:
#mouseclick(240, 700)
endif
EndWhile
Reserved in case I need it for anything else....
This is interesting, will try after I read up on mortscript. One thing cought my eye, it seems with mortscript you are able to do software clicks on the screen (#to do - start
recording again:
#mouseclick(240, 700)
Would this mean we could have a way to asign a hardware key to take pictures in camera mode? I know this has nothing to do with your app, it just came to my mind after seeing your code. It would be nice to have a hardware key to take pictures with our HD2's.
Anyway I will be following your thread for updates on loop recording. Thanks for your work here.
Thanks for your comments mate.
I'm not sure about the hardware button in camera mode. It might be possible but I'm only a novice at Mortscript myself so I don't actually know. I would guess that if MS is capable of registering the activation of hardware buttons and distinguishing between them, then it should be possible but don't quote me!
A script to do that would I think have to effectively listen for the camera being activated, then once it is launched, listen for hardware key presses from a specified key which would in turn trigger the on screen mouseclick command.
Something for another thread I think but an interesting idea anyway. If you search through the mortscript examples thread (approx 70 pages!) you might find something that helps.
After a quick look at the manual this morning I think it's going to take me a little while to figure out how to delete the last created file in the DCIM folder, but once I have it sorted I will post up the amendments.
Run into a problem tonight with timestamps.
The time a file was recorded is showing up exactly 1 hour wrong from when it actually was made, so I have to try and figure this out. It's not the phone clock since the timestamp for the current time is spot on.
Go figure!
Thanks for posting updates for us. Hope you will find a solution, could it have something to do with summer/winter time? Or with local time? Don't know for sure of course, just trying to help.
I think there's a very good chance that's what it's linked to yes, but no idea how to get around it.
The dates where the clocks move forwards/back are not the same each year, so I can't hardcode it in. If there's a way I can get the script to check whether the phone's clock is using GMT or BST then that would likely solve it but I've no idea if that's possible.
Have raised a thread elsewhere to ask for help but no luck so far.
Well - I'm going to be struggling with this a bit guys.
I've not had any replies to the thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=690134) asking about this time difference (I'm wondering if I have posted in the wrong subforum perhaps?) so I'm not really going to be able to get past the issue anytime soon. Kind of scuppers the project until I can work around that.
There is another way potentially of finding the correct file to delete, which would be to go through the mp4 files in the video folder, and create a list of them, sort it by time created, then delete the latest one.
But I don't know how to do that and there isn't any useful info that I can see in the Mortscript manual about sorting data, or even creating simple lists of data objects (unless this is the 'array' functionality?).
So I'm a little bit stuck sorry.
Hi guys,
I have started editing videos using adobe premiere pro 2018 for instagram story's as a learning curve ( 15 secs) . When i synced the files to my phone and tried to upload them using the camera roll it would just loop the posting stage and not move forward. Here are my troubleshooting steps : I have narrowed it down to Samsung but i cant find what the last puzzle is to resolve it.
1. TO exclude the length of the video i made it 14 seconds long , issue persisted
2. I changed the size to 2 mbs , issue persisted
3. I decided to sync the file over using either dropbox, google drive, or just plain and simply copy over using the cable which had the same result.
4. I tried my other 2 accounts.
5. I deleted the cache,cleared everything , same result
6. I resintalled the app, same result
7. I took the app out power saving and made sure its excluded, same result
8. I gave it all the permisions in the world, same result
Here is where i had some brake through , if i edit the video on my phone using another app like instashot ( in this case just re editing it to 1080p) then the resulted video even though it will be twice the size ( 16 mb) has no problems being uploaded.I have a second one plus one so i synced again my orignal story to the phone using google drive and checked if i could upload to the story for the same account. It worked .
I know now that the video is not the problem because the same 15 second story works on OPO. I know also the sync is not the problem . It has to do something either with instagram for S8+ or maybe the way files are being saved on it.I dont exactly know and would appreciate any insight on this< i looked on youtube and so on and found that a few people have the same issue but no one found the solution to this.
I renamed the file, tried to upload and same problem. I copied the file - same problem , i checked the dimensions of the output file through movie editor (Samsung S8+) which were 720 x 720 , tried to do the same on adobe premiere and same result.
I dont know what to do next.... its fun but also anoying .
Please help
Thank you
Good morning to all,
I would like to make a query, I put you in situation before.
After months, I have "recovered" photos and videos, what I could from an internal 3Tb disk, before my wife kills me.
There are more than 90,000 files with photos and videos for more than 15 years.
I have recovered them with various programs using Windows and MacOsX. Some programs like recuva, diskdrill, recoverit, ... but it is clear that each one does it in their own way. Not all are with the creation dates, ... a problem that they are not in .raw.
The problem is that after recovering I passed other programs to see if they were fine or if there was any corrupt and there were some videos that had been mounted on top of each other, different resolutions or a part of the video was fine and another was not.
I have tried to look at DUPLICATED or REPEATED files but of course I can't find good software. I have seen some payment that could be useful but I cannot pay the 100 euros they ask for, without any guarantee, since they only allow part of the program to be tested: Video Comparer is good.
I have tried more than 20 different mac and windows programs but I don't know how that algorithm works or those md5, sha, csc ... I don't know.
I want to be able to rule out bad or repeated ones but this has already become an EXTREME SITUATION.
CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME.
Regards, and thank you very much.
