Hi,
Is there any person or developer who can port CyanogenMod Rom on our Defy?
Or do you guys have any idea regarding this? How can we attract the attention to any developers towards our Defy?

http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/
CyanogenMod Rom works on Droid. So That should work on our Defy as well.
Looking forward to hear your ideas guys......
We need a recovery first
How can we get that recovery?
Wait for it to be sorted - it will come, just got to be patient
What does it really mean that we need recovery and why? Please explain in a way that a noob can get it.or diect me to a place to read thanks!
Bcs recovery is needed to get the modded ROM onto the DEFY!
You need to replace/modify allot of things and this is not as easy as getting a non market app onto your mobile
And i guess there are much more people looking for a 2.2 or perhaps 2.3 then waitin for a CyanogenMod Rom!?

The modded recovery is out... Please Cyanogen make a miracle...!
my main phone is a G2, and have yet to run a CM rom, I'm, more then happy with what we have so far for the Defy, and thanks everyone efforts, if someone ports an OEm Sense Rom over this way well that's another story lol
You know what I am with the guy above. Im loving what I got so far. And in the new year I will probably do my own custom rom. I am not in any rush to get 2.2 at the moment, and im getting an android tablet today so hack time is being diverted to that

Google, you need to be prepare to read - alot.
Everything I have learnt is from googling - all the various android forums.
Hi, i asked google a lot, but can´t find a realy gooo anser what excatly todo.
I can compile my own rom from source, but what is with driver?Firmware?
How i implement this?
Is the bootloader locked the same way as it is on milestone, droid x and droid 2? Or is it hack friendly and we can load any custom kernel?
I missed this thread before.
I would love to see CM's rom on the Defy. In fact I would have no problem donating to the individual who makes it happen
no way!
No one wants to hack the defy!
Would easy i guess for a realy hacker.
But no one do it.
All want to give motorola devices back or won´t buy it.
Poor.

Very different phone dude, you can find a new defy for 290€, seems the Lg Optimus 2x will be around 550€ ... that's really expensive
Not true. Several people already have.

And ofcourse, if you find yourself in any situation where your phone might get wet or dropped, there's no point in comparing them.
Until froyo(kernel) is released by motorola, we can "only" have a CM5 port for the defy.
It would be great trying froyo kernel without any modules and having them replaced by DEFY ones... Doing that we would know if motorola uses the same key for all the androids
Sorry in advance if this should be in Q&A (mod please move if inappropriate) but my question has to do with development so....
Anyway.. was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of any guides or helpful threads that would help teach me how to port a rom. I am wanting to start to learn how to make custom ROMS and figured this would be a good place to start as the heavy lifting has already been done by the real devs...
Specifically looking to port lets say a nexus S rom for use with the NS4g for now.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
I was wondering the same thing. It seems like so much good is coming from the Nexus S section, that I would like to help bring it to the 4g side.

Yes, I know. Me too as well, but there's no guides on porting or I just can't find any. If anyone knows any guides on porting, point us fellows in that direction. thanks!
Man... kinda sux... no one can help at all?
First, this belongs in Q & A, hence no answer , second, it should be pretty easy, nandroid, switch out rild, and rils, make correct edits to build prop, and a kernel for ns4g and you should be good to go.
Are there any guides out there that perhaps detail this process a little bit, I would like to start porting some ns roms over to ns4g. I followed the steps provided by the previous post, and got most everything booting for the new miui rom with ICS however the wifi still doesn't work and it will not allow me to flash a different kernel as afterwards it refuses to boot. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
The Rom that i would like to learn to port is the Rom from Neobuddy, which is an ICS port to the vibrant! Can I get a Dev, or two or three to help me to learn to do this please? (RaverX3X, Whitehawkx, Krylon.......The Super Devs! lol)
Thank you in advance!
Eric, and Thomas....
Thank you for the links! I am workin now LOL
Found this link today as well...

And since I actually do know the basics, I have what i need to create a ROM even from the source code!

They're not going to use their time to teach you how to port if you don't already know the basics, they're all working on their own projects. My advice would be to learn how to do it yourself using Google. There are plenty of ROM porting guides out there, but porting ICS to this phone might be a little out of your league for now.
Wouldnt it be easier to port from an epic 4g aswell ?? i think its a more similar phone id start by just looking at any piece of info on porting thats out there
Check out this link and google the hell out of porting and find many guides like this one.. This one is well written from what i have read. http://www.freeyourandroid.com/guide/porting-android

This will help you with porting a vibrant ROM to the SGS4G, but I don't think it will be useful for ICS. From what I have read, we don't have a true ICS ROM (support) yet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099454&highlight=porting
Does the epic 4g have the 16gb internel sdcard like Cappy and Vibrant? Or is it formatted like the SGS4G and use the externel sdcard?
Im pretty sure its the closest thing to a SGS4g right now.. also for porting vibrant this was posted in our forums a long long time ago.. i don't think anyone has successfully used it yet.

Im checking it out now seeing how it works. Ill keep ya updated if anything cool happens lol.

Good morning, anyone know of any ROM for my ATRIX 2 MB865 of ATT USA.
I'm looking for a Gingerbread ROM 2.3.6 work with the operators of El Salvador.
If anyone knows of one could share me please. :O
You sound like you are very new to XDA...at any rate here is some help for you. First and foremost, read this thread and learn from it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650 do not proceed until you understand everything in there first.
After you have learned about rooting and flashing and what to do with our phone, go over to the Atrix 2 Development forum and take a look at the ROMs that are available. Hint: rom start with {ROM}
FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS in the first post of the ROM you choose.
Please do not try anything with your phone until you are sure you know what you are doing and you understand what is going on.
BTW I am using the SuperCharged v6 ROM, it work pretty darn well for me (and many others).
Thank you

Thank you for your answer, if I am new to this site. I'll read the thread you say.
Sorry to bother you, you have had problems with your Atrix 2 with games, which are closed and no work ...?
Some games will not show up in the market for the Atrix 2, but there are fixes for that. I have no problems playing any game that I have installed on my phone.
