Hello,
I have the following problems with my samsung galaxy s i9000:
1.
When the screen is locked, and i press the home button, it takes about 10-15 seconds to show the unlock screen. When i press the home button th escreen just stays black for 10 seconds until i can unlock it with a swipe.
2.
When i make a call, the screen truns black. I can't hang up etc.
I tried a factory reset from recovery mode. i tried speed kernel mod, i tried lagfix.
nothing solved my problems.
can you help me please? i am desperate.
Thank you!
I reinstalled DarKy's rom, I don't think it's a software problem.
FULL!!! Factory Default, including Delete everything from SD Card.
yeah !!! I seem to be having a similar problem,,, i installed lagfix and moved as many apps as possible to sd card i has improved a little.... but its still there occasionally...
this maybe fixed in his new 9.3 release.... hopefully.

Ok, don't think so, i did a factory default, i was running darky 7.8, and upgraded tot 9.2 Same problem, so i dont think firmware upgrade helps.
Try to make a titanium backup and then install darky's wipe edition,
then restore evryting from titanium backup

Ok thnx i never tried a Wipe edition, will try en post the verdict.
Installed Wipe version, did not solve the problem.
can it be a problem with the the proximity sensor?
Send my phone back to samsung, they said they are not going to fix it because there is
Liquid Damage, I think thats just an excuse so that they don't have to fix or replace my galaxy s for free.
When i plug in my headphones i' dont have the problem. Just found out. Very strange, any idea?
Solved it using app proximitySensorOff.
Its in the market.
Drains the battery, but no more freezes while calling.

Hi guys,
I am little bit tired of using many ROMs on my smart phone. It's been a long time that I started flashing it. I have tried all of the updated roms but recently I am having a kind of stressful trouble with my phone. Whatever is the rom doesnt matter after few hours phone crashes on black screen and doesnr response, after replacing the battery or long time pressing power button it restarts and seems ok but after few minutes or hours it does it again. this trouble has become a regular issue.
the second thing is phone says your internal sd card is umounted unexpectedly and the series of errors begin. all of the errors are blocking to reach the settings and even cant see which applications are runing.
I have suspicions on a virus or kind of spyware has inoculated to my phone or it's kernel file system (but after flashing it should be gone right? must not continue in new flashed rom)
this problem occur after even after the new rom is installed (i use odin 1.83 for flashing and i dont do any rooting/deodexing)
if you can help me on this I would be glad.
Better post on QandA thread.. What you are experiencing is SOD which is common in KP7 and in OC'd kernel of SGSL.. Did you flash and overclocked kernel? If so then that's the cause of SOD..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
actually I am using XXKB3 rom but at this time I am trying to understand what is the cause of this problem, I red some discussions on HTC desire likely same problem called "aka black death" so they argue about the same problem but no solution and no exact reason is mentioned.
My phone is not rooted, not deodexed, any cpu overclock application is not installed, it's just flashed with XXKB3.
by the way same situation is valid in each rom without rooting, deodexing and cpu overclocking.
that's why I am confused
since you have tried "many ROMs", surely you at least have CWM, and made a full backup of your stock kb3 ROM before testing others, so you could easily go back to one that you know works, right?
if not, you at least ensured to do factory reset, wipe partition, and clear dalvik cache each time you installed a new ROM, right?
if not, then the reason you're having problems is because there's old stuff fighting on your phone, and you need to follow those steps properly next time
actually I did that things each time I installed those roms, except clearing dalvik cache via titanium backup, cause this thing needs root permission.
this time according to your advise I'll root my phone and write back about what happens. soon

Uh? You would not have CWM without root? If you have CWM, you obvi. should have root?
I even didnt update CWM after loading new ROMs. (while I am living that troubles)
unfortunately
no development on black screen crash and still unmounts the internal sd card unexpectedly so problem goes on and still I am on investigation.
clearing dalvik cache and rooting and playing with cpu clock speed also doesnt effect this thing.
I need to report this that after phone sleeps when somebody calls me it's not responsing no melody, no signal on screen, even no light or awakening
but it rings at caller's phone.

I am sure you have flashed the BOOTLOADER, PHONE and CSC of KP9 or KP7. Else, you would not have faced this problem. A factory reset and a CLEAN GB flash would do the solution!

"playing with cpu speed", as far as I know, means you installed a non-stock kernel, which may be known to cause SOD, among other things. trying to do stuff while in that case can cause other errors to occur as well. if that's the case, try flashing back to the stock kernel in the same thread you got the overclocked kernel rom, and if not, remove whatever app you installed that's allowing you to adjust your cpu speed and see if it helps
P.S., it's becoming obvious you've done more with your phone than you're revealing, which isn't helping us troubleshoot your problems:

is what you originally said, but as far as I know, you can't adjust cpu speed in the kernel provided, unless it's an overclocked kernel. providing inaccurate information makes it harder to get the proper answers.
try listing all the things you've done, send screenshots of your phone's "about phone" screen, showing kernel, build, etc.
Srry to break it to ya mate... But since your internal SD seems to be unmounting and your phone seems to be SOD-ing, you need to reflash to stock and send it to the service center for repair.
This isn't a support forum, although we are willing to help to the best of our knowledge. Hope you get this sorted out mate!

Let me share the latest info...
after trying to use my phone without external sd card, black screen problem has gone, phone is waking after pushing power button,
but this unmounting internal sd card unexpectedly and application errors still continues. After unmounting it mounts sd card back (by itself) and scans, but then I can not start any of the settings or system applications cause it gives errors and closes. if I insist to open a system application it phone is freezing and not responding. and then I have to reset it to turn normal. and unmounting problem goes for a short time...
if there will be no solution as Erahgon said I will take it to the warranty service installed with a stock rom.
for now I am still using the
Baseband: I9003XXKB1
stock rom: FROYO.XWKB1
Kernel Ver. : 2.6.32.9 [email protected]#1
didnt root it,
didnt deodexed,
didnt cleared dalvik cache,
sod's happn wid me too ..!
while downloading gamedata thru gameloft the sods occur ..
the solution :
download screen off frm the market ..
its the only solution fr the sods !
Recently my Nexus s started bootlooping.
First it was happening if the phone was powered off due to finished battery, now it happens every time i power it off.
What happens is, it bootloop on the google logo. In order to over come that i pull the battery out and turn it back on. After a few time (3-10) it would start up normally and not bootlooping.
I run stock 4.0.3, not rooted.
Anyone has a clue ?

my only suggestion is maybe a factory reset, you might have some corrupted files somewhere. but, my fear/concern is that your internal sd storage card might be going.

Yes factory data reset only deletes all data on your phone not the SD card.

Okay, so i did factory reset and i'm still stuck on the bootloop. Need to remove the battery and turn back on until it doesn't bootloop.
Actually what happens is the google logo appear, then for a moment it turned off and comes back again.
simms22, why do you think it's internal sd damage ?
TheMatrix246, what's ODIN ?
Guys, you think if i root and switch ROM it could be fixed ?
I would appreciate some help here a bit lost.
One last thing before you contact Samsung:
Download Nexus S [i9020T/i9023] 4.0.3 Full ROM and copy to sdcard as update.zip
Go into bootloader
Recovery
Data/factory reset
Install update.zip (reflash all files of ICS)
Reboot and hope it works out fine
If this doesn't work for you i highly doubt rooting and changing ROMs will. This will reinstall the entire OS (format and install /system), bootloader, radio, kernel and recovery.
Do i need to be root user in order to do that ?
And just to make sure, this Full ROM is for i9020T ? correct ?
(mine says only GT-i9020 on the back, bought in Carphone Warehouse in England).
Yes, i9020T. If you get 3G with Orange, and you have the SAMOLED screen, you have the i9020T (and to my knowledge, 9020 on the back signifies i9020T).
Also, i don't believe you need to be root to do that. I'm pretty sure you can flash the same version ROM from stock recovery as long as it is signed, just not older versions.
First, thanks guys for the help.
After first doing the factory reset, it seemed the bootloop happens less often. At first i tought it was solved but then it rarely (1 to 5 reboots) yet happened.
Today i installed the Full ROM Harbb suggested and so far i have no reboot issues.
But i after the installation i saw OS wasn't reset. Does it suppose to (not) happen ?

You're welcome. Also, all that file does is replace everything in the /system partition (OS). All apps besides the defaults that come from the factory are not in that partition so are not affected. Hopefully your problem is fixed permanently
But it's generally recommended to do a full wipe when switching ROMs. It could be that you encounter other problems because of the ROM change without wipe. But you could also be lucky to have no problems. Just to remind you, when you encounter something wierd.
Problem is still there ....
Hi guys,
First thanks for all the help, but the problem still there.
I did the upgrade using the Full ROM as Harbb suggested. For the first 10-12 times i rebooted (i rebooted again and again) it was alright, booting successfully ... but then it stated occasionally to bootloop and now it does it almost everytime. usually takes up to 10 times i remove the battery and start the phone so it will start up and not bootloop.
Also, I'm sorry the taking so long to respond, the nature of the problem compelling me to test it for a few days so i will know if it works or not.
Should i root the device ?
If so , how do i replace / rewrite the boot program ?
I would much appreciate any suggestion.
I had a similar problem, bootlooping, stuck on Google logo when running 4.0.3 in the end I took it back to carphone warehouse who repaired it and now it's ok. I found that heating it with a hair-dryer made it stop bootlooping (but that's what worked for me). However the repair seems to have fixed any issues and its all OK now.

My problem is i bought the device also in carphone warehouse in the UK, but i live in Israel. Meaning i will have to send it to them by air-mail.
By any chance they mentioned what was the problem ?
also did they give you a refurbished device or a new one ?

Hey, thanks for the replay.
What does is mean to flash it ?
How do i do that ?
You noted it was returned unrooted, was it rooted before ?
Again thank you all for the help.
To be honest I'm a novice to these terms but know that they unlocked it(it was not unlocked when sent off) and reinstalled os 2.3.3 after a complete wipe. Details of how to unlock and flash (install a different os) are on the forums. If you follow the forum advice precisely the instructions work. I am now running a CyberGR rom of ics 4.0.3 that runs smoother than stock ics . Again found on these forums. Hope this helps.

Hi Everyone,
So recently YouTube updated to version 2.4.4, and apparently, videos launch with considerable lag that locks up the device. I've tried every rom with every kernel and they all behave the same. Maybe Titanium Backup? But it worked before...
1. Anybody else getting this?
2. Any solutions?
Wait I just installed RolleTube (version 2.1.6) and it still lags. Now I'm seriously wondering what's wrong.

Well, the even weirder thing is that when I just install a ROM, TiBu, and run youtube, there's no lags. Then when I reboot (because of battery or something), the lag reappears. Fix Permissions seems to be locking up in the middle of the process, and I have to hard shutoff to get the device back working. Funny thing is that youtube worked fine like a month ago...

Did that already... Even wiped my internal 16gb. Darkside wipe, fix permission, etc. etc. didn't work - still there.
Also: it seems Go Launcher also has some problems with YouTube's lag... the widget on Go Launcher lags to launch the video on the widget, while twlauncher doesn't have that (as much). Still has crazy device-locking lags though.
EDIT: Oh wow... it seems when I connect my phone to my PC it shows up as a corrupted disk... Windows is asking me if I want to fix the disk. Would that be the problem? And if it is, can I let Windows fix the disk?
I don't think I would let windows do that. It says corrupted or needs formatted?

Ok. Boot into odin and reflash cwm 5.0.2.6. Boot into cwm and format system, then data, the cache and dalvik cache. Repeat 3x. Flash stock through odin. Reboot, twice. Now reflash cwm and then flaah a rom and configure. I don't care what your problem is, that method is a guarantee fix lol

I did this, and I still had lag after restoring TiBu. Lol the look on my face when it happened
But turns out, the TiBu backup of Go Launcher was actually screwing many apps up (including YouTube)... dunno if it was a system issue, but it was the problem. Transitioned to ADW after a full wipe again (without ever launching go launcher) and all was good. Thanks guys.

Hi there. I currently am running the Legend 2 ICS Edition ROM for Infuse 4G. I just noticed there is a new update Legend 3 ICS. If I want to keep all my files and apps, do I just flash the Update file (instead of the Full Wipe file)? And do I need to go through the same process, clear cache, dalvik cache, etc.? Probably no need to wipe data and factory reset.
Any help is much appreciated! Thanks.

I suggest do a full wipe, if you want to keep your app, "tibu" titanium backup is great and well worth app, buy it...I did and worth every dime. IMHO Tibu will and can backup your apps and restore them.
So I suggest get tibu, backup your apps, do a full wipe install Leg3 go back to Gplay download/install tibu back on, then use the program to restore your apps only in this case.
Plus tibu can do a full backup of your data & apps, say you find your DD but want to test other ROMs, use tibu to backup data & apps, go test the another ROM, and want to come back to your DD ROM, you can then do a full data & app restore...plus there are lots of YouTube vid on Titanium Backup app.

You can do the update and keep your files, which is the reason for the update. Though, like Bigjoe says, a full wipe is always prefered, but not necessary.

The reason why everyone suggests a full wipe is so that you dont potentially run into any problems after the flash. ie flash not working, or camera wont load... little things like that that make it hard to narrow down problems. One of the main things people are going to ask is did you wipe before you installed? It helps to eliminate and remnants of left over roms so that you dont have any issues with the new rom. Its called a Bad flash.
I hope i answered your question!
Thanks for all the replies! So whether it is the full wipe ROM or the update ROM, both go through the same procedure of booting into CWM first? I will try Tibu for app backup! :good:

So I've been using your latest release (full wipe Legend v3) and I did factory reset, clear cache and dalvik cache, fixed permissions, etc. The phone is occasionally laggy now, usually when I open web browser it would stay on the white screen a several seconds. Sometimes, when I open my phone, it would stay on the black screen even though I never turned it off and it still has battery. So I had to long-press the button to restart. I've already rebooted and shut down numerous times but these problems still persist.
Also, bluetooth doesn't work for me. When I enable it from settings, the "Turn bluetooth on" checkbox stays unchecked and does nothing.
Should I reflash again? I did to a Titanium Backup to restore apps and settings... Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

My bet is the tibu restore of your settings is what is causing the issues, I've had problems and have known others that had problems when restoring system settings with tibu, especially if the tibu backups were done on another rom.

I only started using tibu when I had Legend ICS v2 and then I immediately upgraded to v3 using the full wipe ROM. And then I restored all apps and settings. I'll try wipe and re-flash without restoring any settings in tibu. But honestly, I only wanted to backup my widget and screen settings (such as app shortcuts on home screens) but tibu didn't back that up.

I'm a noob so I don't know what those are. But I've only flashed ZEUS final and then Legend ICS v2 and v3. Full wiped and cleared cache on all those flashes.
I've reflashed to stock and then back to Legend 3 without restoring anything. It is all better now, very snappy. The bluetooth can be turned on now but for some reason, it doesn't detect my Jabra headset no matter how many times I scan. But it detects my Macbook Pro...
After upgarding my android to 2.3.6(DDLF2) my phone frequently hangs i.e no response on the touch. this happens atleast once a week.
Some times people say my phone is switched off when it is on. Also phone doesnt ring when someone calls and phone doesnt show any missed calls as well.
I tried searching for a stable rom, but many people say this is the stable one. Did anyone faced similar issues? Doing a factory reset, would it help? i upgraded via kies from earlier release. This phone already had restart issues and i replaced the mother board when it was on warranty.
Any other stable rom suggestion is also welcome.
Yes as said by others this is the stable stock rom with good battery life and extra features..
The only problem is the touchwiz launcher which makes the phone laggy.
So install some other launcher from market and check the difference.
But I am not sure of the other issues that you faced like phone not ringing and the missed call notification.

I would try flashing clockwork mod, going into recovery mode and doing a factory reset /wipe data /wipe cache. (Move your stuff to your external sd before doing this).
If problem persists, then go for reflashing the latest rom.
