I just put Cobalt on my phone. I read the no worky things and could live without the camcorder and gps issues. Although the gps seems to work. I can not get the camera to work. It seems to take the picture but in the gallery they can't be seen. It is just a blurry box and when I click it the screen goes black and force closes the gallery. Is there a tweek I am missing?

I and a coworker who also has a transformer have experienced an issue with the camera. When changing from normal camera mode to panorama mode the camera fails to initiate and doesn't turn on. It's just a black screen.
Anyone else run into this same issue ? It happens vice versa also, from panorama to camera or to video.

Hmm. Well glad me and my buddy aren't the only ones.
So how do we report this bug officially to Asus is the next question.....

Did you update using CWM? I don't have this bug and I updated from OTA.
Same here
Completely stock, B90, SBK2, OTA update. Panorama closes camera app.

Clearing the camera app's cache allowed me to actually use the camera again.
hope Asus (or devs) fix this, would really like to be able to use panorama mode
For the record, I flashed the rooted zip posted here.
It's fine for me. I used the Full CWM file along with a Format...not a wipe
Same issue here, stock unrooted, OTA update B50.

If the rest of the stuff works it's absolutely not worth it trying to fix it. The picture quality it makes is just crappy. Maybe it's the lighting or I am turning it too fast. This is how it looks like.
Same bug here.
B6O
CWM rooted ics.. wiped all
I never use the camera so happy to wait for fix from Asus..
think we need more detailed info to pin this down because i'm not having this issue with my tf. weird that several of you are.
Workaround Fix for Panorama Bug
The panorama camera bug is related to security>screen lock feature in ICS.
I did a full wipe to get the camera working and then I realized it only stopped working after I had set a pin on it.
Apparently if you set it as a pattern, pin, or password it will cause the panorama feature to lock up.
The only way to get it working is by setting your security>screen lock to "none" or "slide".

Wow, good diagnosis. I'll have to try that see if I can also replicate this fix. Unfortunately I need to use a pattern or some sort of lock code. Prying eyes lol. Oh well. I don't really use my tablet as a camera anyways. I just wanted to show off panorama to someone

confirmed.
I put a pattern and when switching to panorama the camera went black then crashed as I switched to normal.

I can confirm panorama worked after removing the PIN feature. I chose the security locksreeen option of None without issue. When I turned PIN back on, it was the same black screen. According to logcat, I didn't see much other than the camera activity being destroyed an activity pause timeout for the PanoramaActivity.
Such an odd thing to cause camera activity to cease. Why in the world is a lockscreen causing issues with switching camera modes? Oh well. Like I said. I can live with it, hopefully a fix is found and pushed to our devices

Hi folks,
My camera app has stopped working.
It will load and the buttons are cliakale, but the screen is just black and i cannot take a photo, odd or what?
The capture button can be pressed but nothing happens, kinda needed the camera lol
Any thoughts please?
Thanks
You need fix a permissions, better way use a program Rom Manager for it.
Nat that didn't work.
If you have removed some system .apk it can do that. After removing phone.apk my camera stopped working, putting it back fixed the camera.

Your a star, works again now. Thanks.
Hello. Need some help. Flashed JellyBean MagicMod on my Atrix 2 MB865 (was on ICS leak#1). DEscription of the ROM says that face camcorder not work. OK. But I've encountered with back camcorder not working. It starts record normally, but when I press stop button it says that Camera error. There is video clip in gallery, but it can't be opened. Is there any solution? I have read all thread about this rom. Help.
a couple of lines below that clearly states that camera/camcorder is not working on any custom camera app , you need either go back to ics, wait till dev figure it out or live with it

You are right about custom app. But I'm trying to use system cam app and getting such error. Other people said about fully working rear camera video recording.
Camcorder not working is a known issue for CM10 and MagicMod. If camcorder or camera are important to your phone use, then you need to use a Moto Rom. You can try other apps and playing around with the included camcorder to try and get it to work (i think some have), but I wouldn't hold my breath or rely on the camera or camcorder working at 100%.
I got the camera working fairly well with CameraZoom FX although it takes very noisy pics. Camcorder never really worked for me on CM10 or MagicMod, but I never used it to begin with so I don't miss it and have not played around with trying to get it to work.
I have tried Google Goggles with my Nexus 5.
If I want to take a picture (Barcode, QR-Code, etc.), camera screen changes between dark and bright again and again before I ever touch the screen to shoot or focus.
The resulting picture is always too dark to analyse.
If I open the stock Kitkat camera app simultanesously, the screen is black and all you can see is the blue button. When Goggles is closed, the app works normal.
I was able to try another Nexus 5. Same problem.
Can anyone confirm this (so hopefully Goggles app issue) or is this probably a hardware issue?
Exact same issue here.

I am getting the same things
Trying to establish whether this is a problem with my phone, or an incompatibility with the app but when I load Goggles it works for a second before completely locking up the phone.
The camera works using the camera app, Instagram, Paper Camera so I don't think there's a problem with that?
Phone is rooted.

It didn't crash on my phone, however when using it without flash the image brightness (not the screen) keeps flickering annoyingly.
And after I close Goggles, the stock camera app no longer works (black screen) unless I force stop Goggles.
Edit:
Basically like this:

I've initially missed that thread.
