Hello,
Is there a tutorial to load supplements & patches? I've already installed the TNT Lite 4.2.1 and would like to add the 4.2.2 supplement and also install the Wifi Patch. I've downloaded both the files, now what do I do?
Thanks in advance.

Flash the file as you would a Rom via recovery mode.
Choose install zip from sdcard from the recovery menu then navigate to the file location.
Thanks for the help. Just for clarification, the 4.2.4 supplement file is called "update.zip" and so is the original 4.2.0 ROM. Do I rename the supplement file first before putting it into the "ROM" directory or do I just replace the original 4.2 update.zip file and just boot from the supplement file? Thanks again.
You can just replace it.
The procedure to install supplements is the same as the procedure to install the base ROM. The only difference is that the supplement requires the last base version to function. So 4.2.4 needs 4.2.0 (or higher) as the base.
The supplement is also cumulative - which means that 4.2.4 encompasses all the changes from 4.2.1 to 4.2.3, as well. It's easier that way so that you don't have to install multiple supplements to get to the latest version.
Many thanks.

i'm trying to update my gtab to tnt lite 3.1. currently, i'm running the tnt lite 2.2 and installed that with out any problems following directions. that was a zip format. however, the tnt lite 3.1 file that i got from the following thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842004
is a .rar. When i go to install the zip from sd card, go to roms folder, it doesn't come up and i can't see it. however, the tnt lite 2.2 is there. i tried just re-doing the folder into zip, and got it to recognize, but it still did not boot up. i selected it and it just went back to the previous menu. how or where can i get the zip file for tnt lite 3.1?
You need to extract the rar file first. Once extracted you will find a update.zip file you can use to install.
You can extract the rar on the gtab with androzip from market or unrar it from your PC with winrar or 7zip.

This is directly taken from the link you provided. The rar file once extracted will have the update.zip file, and a recovery folder with a command file in it. It is a rar so people with clockwork know not to try and flash the file directly without pulling the zip file out of it.
Instructions for those with standard recovery:
- Extract the RAR to the root of your internal memory. So, for example, if your device is mounted on your Windows F drive, you need to extract the RAR so that you have an F:\update.zip file and an F:\recovery folder. Then, unmount the drive cleanly.
- Power off the device, then begin the flash process by holding the power switch and volume up switch for several seconds. You should see a recovery screen and it will take 1-2 minutes to complete.
- After the update is complete, the system will reboot.
- You will see the standard Google registration screen, on first boot. You can skip the Google registration process and try later, when you have WiFi running.
Note: these instructions are for the internal memory. If you have no access to that (ie stuck in a boot loop), you can add the files to a microSD card and that will work. However, you need to make one edit to the \recovery\command file, which is a text file. Edit it in notepad and change "SDCARD" to "SDCARD2" and resave it. But, make sure that Windows doesn't add a .TXT extension - it HAS to be called "command".
Instructions for those with clockworkmod .8:
- Extract the RAR and place the update.zip file anywhere in /sdcard (do NOT just copy the original RAR, that won't work! You have to open up the RAR and copy the update.zip inside. You don't need the /recovery folder for cwm). I would recommend putting the file on the root of /sdcard, since it will be easier to upgrade that way.
- Reboot into recovery. Do a backup first, as that's always a good idea.
- Then, choose "apply sdcard:update.zip", assuming you added the update.zip to the root of /sdcard, and run it.
- Reboot.
Note: I have heard reports that this might "Status 7" and I have no fix for that, yet. It seems to be intermittent.
thanks guys. that was very helpful. got it to work.
Good to hear. I actually specifically used a rar format for these because it needs to be extracted. I used to use a zip format and there was a lot of confusion, as well - I need to support standard recovery users as long as we have them (and we will probably always have a few of them).
Hi All, I am new to this forum and android world. I have a samsung galaxy wifi 5 android device running froyo 2.2.2. This is basically equivlent to IPod Touch (I guess). I am trying to make this device detect ad-hoc wireless connection so that i can connect this with my windows mobile phone. After some research I found that wpa_supplicant file needs to be modified. I have already found the patched and complied zip file here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754961. I just need to know how do I flash this file in recovery. So far I have rooted my device, and installed ROM manager. Alos do I need any flash cards? Your help would be much appriciated. Thanks
Same boat here. Google hasn't seemed to help either.
How do you "flash" a zip file in Recovery?
Thanks
First you need ClockWorkMod and know how that phone's version works. Move the zip file that has the new ROM onto your sd card. Boot into ClockWorkMod. Then choose the zip file with ClockWorkMod.
yes google is your friends
but first insall recovery and after use it, choose the downloaded zip file and update your phone with it...
Hi All,
I'm looking for a windows utility, that can edit, customize and update an existing rom...
Basically, I am trying to tweak a Chinese rom to make it more INTERNATIONAL... However I'm not seeing many Windows (GUI) Apps that can do this, and if there is, they've been discontinued at ICS or earliest JB build.
Does anyone know an updated tool that can help me with this please...??
PhilzTouch is supposed to support this, but the package didn't work either...
Thanks, Lister

Philz touch is a recovery, not a ROM editing utility
Hi @DSA,
Yeah I'm aware it's a recovery, as I use it on my Note. However when I've tried to research looking for one of these Apps, some people suggested (and have seen in past, on unrelated topics) that with PhilzTouch you can clone your existing LIVE OS, and package it up to a Flashable Zip.
Well it did create a flashable zip, and it even puts it in a folder called "Custom Roms" which is based on a "Update.zip" file, even though it has a different name... However it doesn't flash, and when opened the file, it has .TAR files included and not a normal rom package.
So yeah, struggling to find anything that works... I came close to building/porting a rom earlier, however I received FCs afterwards...
Thanks, Andy

adb pull /system then zip with 7zip or winrar you will also need to make an updater script and updater binary for your device. with correct blocks so that the rom flashes correctly. so, you need to search for how to create an updater binary for your device and the correct blocks for data, system, and boot img. for your device. if cm has one for your device, you can usally download their rom zip and put all your info you pulled using adb into their zip deleting their's but note you will need your boot image to be pulled also which i do not know how to do
I manually updated my Huawei P9 Lite to Nougat.
There were to files to download and install: a big one (1,2 GB) and a small one (388 MB).
I got confused and installed only the big file. It worked.
Now, I understand that the second file is an update to the first file, but I already started to use the phone.
Question: is it still possible to install the second file now that I'm already using the phone?
Or do I have to start all over, i.e., from the beginning: install the big file again and then the small file?
I forgot to say, under "Settings" I don't have the option to check for updates, that's why my question (see above).
Hello,
My device is the Mate 9 (MHA-L29C185B110) and I seem to have a problem with the camera.
When pressing the button to take a photo, the camera app restarts itself. I try again, but didn't work, to no avail.
I also tried to record a video. It seems to work, but the camera freezes but it's still counting, otherwise recording.
I have just recently flashed a custom recovery img (TWRP), the boot img on another thread that prevents the device from being automatically encrypted, and SuperSU root.
Do any of you have a solution to this problem?
Would this be because I haven't flashed Public_data.zip and Full_HW_data.zip?
And will this problem fix if I completely install the MHA-L29C185B172's firmware?

It could be a problem if you flashed a boot image for a different model. You need boot image for C185B110. It should work without hw and Public zips, but a lot of other things break without flashing those. Updating to C185B172 will fix it.
By the way, which supersu did you use?
If the one from the "Decrypt" thread in Guides you don't need to flash a pre-decrypted boot image, the installer does it for you.

As for the SuperSU, I think I took it from the full root guide w/o decrypt img, but obviously I had to use a decrypt img because of stock
SUPERSU-2.79-MATE9-init.d_support
For the boot (No force encryption boot)
This is probably where things went wrong. I flashed the wrong build image.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/stock-boot-img-library-t3573312
I had to use above link because I couldn't flash SuperSU since I don't have an external sd to extract it from (Since you have to format your data before flashing it)
I couldn't find the hw and public zips for C185B110, so if you have it, a link would be generous.
Would flashing stock boot img for MHA-L29C185B110 fix it?
and what would happen if i flash stock boot.img?
and do you have a decrypt boot.img for C185B110?
Thanks!

It would probably fix it yes, but no boot image or hw/public exist for B110 so I'm guessing it shipped with that build.
You'd have to update, using https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-update-package-t3593108
I don't think you can use Firmware Finder as you're probably missing the System Update feature.
Either that one I linked or FunkyHuawei, but Funky cost money to use.
Thanks,
I will try using the link you used.
although it is not clear.
On manual update step A, do you need to download all three?
the base, the OS(windows) and the model?
and where do i put these files?
and on b and c on update zip
do i have to download two update.zip?
for example, C185B110 and C185B172
do i also need to download full ota instead of just ota? fullota is incompatible, says firmware finder on mobile

Yes, download base, os and MHA. Extract all to the same folder. You should only have one folder named HWOTA and the files/folders in that. If it extracts to a folder with the same name as the zips, enter the folders and copy hwota folder then go back one folder and paste/merge so you end up with one folder named HWOTA. Easiest way is putting it directly in C:\hwota\, if your windows version allows it. Else place it on desktop. (long file paths or a path containing spaces might make hwota not function correctly).
You need to download all 3 files (fullota update.zip, hw zip and Public zip), easiest way is using firmware finder to download. Either mobile or the pc version. For pc go to the common base tab and search for your model and then download the build you want including public and HW zips.
You only need to download the fullota update, hw and Public zip of the build you're updating to. If you're on b110 and going to update to B172 you only need to download B172.
Rename the files according to the guide (update.zip, update_all_hw.zip and update_data_public.zip), place them in either hwota/update folder or make a HWOTA folder on your sdcard and put the renamed files there.
When running hwota, select script update folder or sdcard update folder depending on where you put the files. Select same model update.
One last question:
Does it have to be FULLOTA, not just OTA?
