[Q] Haptic Feedback on Keyboard? - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Would it be possible to turn on any haptic feedback for the keyboard on WP7? TouchXperience has haptic feedback enabled for its menu's so I was wondering if it would be possible to integrate that into the keyboard. Used to have Android so not having haptic feedback is kind of a trouble. Thanks

Do you mean something similar to the vibration that the Focus has when you hit the capacitive buttons?

Ok, sounds like a good idea on paper. I wish I had the knowledge to be able to do this kind of thing, but I'll just have to wait to see if someone more knowledgeable is able to do this.
I wish we could in basketball this year. We did a great job in football this year, but I have a feeling we'll really miss Von next year.

This definitely sounds possible. The registry editor you can install on your phone has virtual buttons that provide feedback when pressed.

Yeah, I noticed that too and looked around in the registry but couldn't find anything that involved that. It's probably in there somewhere, though.

It definitely seems accessible if TouchXplorer has haptic feedback, just don't know if theres anyway to integrate it into the keyboard...

Perhaps we could contact Julien Schapman (the creator of Registry Editor)? There doesn't seem to be any contact info in the app though...

This question has been brought up many times before. I asked Julien a few weeks ago (in his forum for the Advanced Configuration Tool) about the feedback for the keyboard.
Any chance in implementing a vibrate only for the on-screen keyboard? I noticed the Samsung Focus has the following keys in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\FingerKB\Sounds\:
NormalKey
\Windows\KbdKeyTap.wav
ActionKey
\Windows\KbdFunction.wav
SpaceKey
\Windows\KbdSpacebar.wav

We can change these sounds but unfortunately not to vibrate as they are not implemented as system sounds.

But in advanced configuration, you can change the sounds of the lock, unlock, etc to vibrate and those are .wav

Still no solution here? Is it not possible to make different "Keyboard apps" in WP like Android?
I really miss the oportunity of beeing able to choose from different layouts plus the haptic feedback..

Slider On (like IPhone)

Hi
Having had the TC for 3 days now - I've already grown tired of having to press the on-button on top of the TC. I would like to be able to turn on the phone from just swiping my thumb from left-to-right like the IPhone.
Does anyone have such application /tweak ?

When the device is in suspended mode, all the buttons, and the touch screen is locked. This is not a problem that needs fixing, nor will be administered.
Let me guess, th TC is your first PDA from HTC, and you have an iPhone...
you can try the s2u2 by A_C.
Thanks
for the replies.
Where do I find the application mentioned (s2u2) ?

Best app to remap Raphael's hardware buttons ?

Hello everybody,
I just ordered my HTC Touch Pro and I expect to receive it tomorrow. Having played a bit with the Diamond, I already noted that switching from my Trinity will cause some changes from the hardware buttons perspective.
I'd like to know what's the best available software out there (commercial or freeware, doesn't matter) to remap the buttons of the device, and enables features like single press, "double-click", press-n-hold-short, press-n-hold-long, etc.
Thanks a million in advance.
I am also concerned about the same
I did some checking around and have these two apps for you to test
I didn't try'em out yet
And there's a third AEButton or something
I'll get it as well
Tell me how it goes

I have used this with my Kaiser and Hermes:http://ae.inc.ru/aekmap.php and I think it's pretty good.
I have a similar question, but not completely.. Is it possible to do any kind of keyboard mapping without any software? Just like altering the registry or something. I would like to get ctrl or FN + o to do ö and ctrl or fn + a to do ä. But i absolutely hate to run any mapping software..
AEButton Plus is awesome for mapping buttons... Check it out.

I seriously doubt you could use a quick reg edit to do that... But good luck.
Thanks man
had version 2.5.2
Hopefully will come in handy when I get my hands on my Raph

I received my Touch Pro yesterday and I directly tried the apps you provided. Hbutton works only on the lower right key (open phone app), while the other doesn't work at all... I'm going to try AE Button and let you know what that gives.
I think currently both the Home and the Back keys can't be remapped -- without touching to the ROM, I mean.
green button
there is a dialer app (idialer) it has an add-on called greenbutton.cab it allowed me to hit the send/call key and bring up idialer instead of built in dialer from that key. I'd like to be able to do that for other dialers like OneDialer. I wish I knew some coding maybe modify the greenbutton app to work for me.
DCD's latest 2 CDMA ROMs (2.27 & 2.30) both allow you to remap all the hardware keys. Not sure how he did it though, but feel free to check them out. His ROMs are usually pretty lean, so you can install whatever you want, without much pre-installed bloat.

Touch sensitivity tweak. Nice!!!

Just in case some of yee didn't know...
In the diamond forum, there's a nice cab tweak to enhance screen sensitivity. Kudos to azharsunny, very nicely done!!
Just download the second cab.
Here's the link..

And knowing is half the battle!
Thanks for the info, but i think this can be done in advanced config and TF3D config which i found were more than adequate for me. Thanks though i am sure someone else will have a use for it
I feel that this tweak has given my phone a higher sense of sensitivity when compared to tf3d config...along with the heptic feedback, works great.

Yep, I'm using Snailslug Touchresponse with a 30ms setting. Enough to let me know I've made contact, but not enough to be annoying.
You know what they say, great minds blah blah blah
cool, thx for the response, i'll have to find it.
i used to enjoy the feedback, but the TP mechanically vibrates so loudly compared to the kaiser or HD and probably most others.
Agreed, the Kaiser has a nice smooth vibe.
Trancer, here's Snailslug's cab.
My apologies for referencing to it and not showing...

Is it possible to "reprogram" some of the keys on the keyboard?

Just got my first Raphael and was wondering if it was possible to reprogramme some of the keys, so when I press FN and A I get another letter like Á.
/Carl
you know i was thinking about that the other day. maybe a way to utilize fn+ the unused letter keys to put in some characters that are not on the keyboard. like adding \ or tab or control keys. if anybody has a solution.

HTC One S/HTC Ville WIKI - Please Help To Update -

HTC One S WIKI
Hi all
I have created the HTC One S Wiki. I find that if they are updated, they can be a great source of information to all. Please help to keep it updated, as it helps out newbies and cuts down on them opening new threads in the forum. Its also a great resource for the veterans.
This helps to keep the clutter down on the main forum, so makes it easier for us all!
Please update it with any thing you feel is valid. I will leave this thread open to discuss Wiki issues.
Hope its useful

Swype
For anyone aggravated that swype doesn't yet work on the One S, HTC have included swype like functionality as default and while it's not quite as good as Swype it should see you through until Swype issue a fix. To enable...
- Go to Settings>Language and keybaord>HTC Sesne Input
- Toggle Trace keyboard to On
Hope that helps

I have a dual touch screen ... Isn't it a multitouch point screen ?
-- You have to enable the option. Settings -> Display & gestures -> HTC Gestes uncheck !
I'm glad this is out good job Ganja.

Maybe a in-car bluetooth compatibilty reference?
It works in my 2005 BMW 3 series coupe (E46).
Or should this go somewhere else?

Might be hard to add a full list to the Wiki. You could always open a Bluetooth compatibilty reference thread and link that to the wiki. Up to you, as the first post of said thread would have to be updated regularly for it to be useful.
Shouldn't GLONASS be added to GPS the Ons S specification section? Another thread here confirmed GLONASS is enabled.

Swype doesn't work because of the Menu Button on the Display. That changes the available ScreenResolution and swype thinks the resolution is not supported. If you redirect the menu button to a hardkey, than the screen is free and swype works perfect =)

The real Resolution is 960x540 pixel, but due to the onscreen menu button on the bottom of the screen in some apps the available resolution is only like 920x540 and therefore swype says, the resolution is not supported...
Gotcha, thanks. I knew the screen res isn't compatible but didn't understand which menu button you meant.
glad you got it. Have to translate everything so for the most time i have no idea what the proper translation would be. For me the menu button is the right klick on a pc mouse =D

Hey Highroller,
Do you have anymore input for this. I already assign the menu button to the 3rd hard key instead of app switcher in the cy8c-touchkey.kl so it works as a menu button.
The button now works like a menu key but sometimes it still draws the onscreen menu and I can't install swype. Where else would I change it?

oh great, ill poke around and see what i can do. while i havent had the One s for more than 24 hours now and dont know much yet about the HTC One series -- my question is thisn -- does the ONE-S and the ONE-X differ so much? would it be appropriate to have a ONE-Series wiki? That way, you get double the wiki-ness.
will play with the wiki this weekend, nothing like a good wiki.
