[APP] BBC iPlayer for Android (and iPhone/iPad) - Android Apps and Games

The BBC have released an iPlayer app free on the market, it does exactly as the mobile site for Android does, it streams programs to our phones.
It only works for Android 2.2+ because of the need for flash player.
Try it out!

Download link from the Market

Can anyone post the .apk file for this app? I am unable to download it and have tried market enabler and that isn't working either. Thanks in advance for any help.
If you can't post the download file, maybe some advice for where it might be found.

unable to download in Singapore.

Go to this page the apk is there :

Isn't this wifi-only; not available via 3G?

Any chance to stream out of UK? Maybe TOR?

After install I get "BBC I Player is only available in the UK " This post should explain this so others like me ( in the USA ) wont waste their time downloading it !!!!!

I have had this for a few days now. sad to say on my galaxy S over wifi I can only play low bandwidth?! ridiculous

Personally I am not a fan of the app, and I will use the website instead. Streaming is choppy on the app, and perfect on the website.
Also, no download options! The Nokia N8 (I think) has had this since last year...

Just a FYI to everyone (as the news post makes it sound like you can stream over mobile network...):
This only works over WiFi (it will not stream over mobile networks)
You cannot pre-download anything.
If you do stream over WiFi the quality isn't very good.
If you want to see bbc iplayer content on your mobile, the best way is still to use their website.

I can confirm its not working on my Sprint Evo. Says on market website item not available for my carrier, and from phone it doesnt even show up. Ashame because i like BBC programming.

It'll only work in the UK.

Any way to spoof location?

I'm using it in Spain via a VPN. I think the quality is pretty good. Perfectly watchable.

What a shame it only works on uk
Any way to fake location to enjoy this app?

If you set up a VPN, it works fine over wifi.

I don't know how a VPN would help, unless you were already in that region, but I wonder about a legit (is there such thing? proxy app for Android... is there one to test?

I live in Spain and use a VPN that gives the phone a British IP address and it works. There are plenty of companies that offer this service.

Is the app still terrible? Didn't bother with it after testing it for 10 minutes. It was awful.

[APP REQ]MOG streaming music app

Hi, Im in UK, have signed up for a trial to compare the new MOG service to Spotify (Which I already have a sub for), however the MOG app wont show up in my market due to regional restrictions. How would I get the apk file for MOG? My N1 with Froyo isnt rooted, and I dont want it to be, but would be be some way around that regional restriction or some place to source the apk?

even if you get the APK, MOG will check for location and will not work again.
So you need to be rooted and chance your IP to any other county like USA
But maybe
If you just download Mog APK from some other website (not google play) and install it.
And than, connect to a internet with VPN app that might work too! you just need to give it a try
This thread was from over two years ago! Haha.

Skype app out of the Market?

I looked today on the Android Market for the Skype app and it is not there anymore. Somebody knows why they took it off?
How do we download Skype now? Is this part of the Skype-Google voice war?
I just searched for it on my evo cm6.1.2 and it's there
I searched as well, but I dont see it....however swype came pre loaded on my dell..
How can it be? I search for it from my Droid 2 global and it is not there anymore. I went to the skype website, ask for the link to be sent to my number and then the link they send takes you to a page that says that the file has been removed. I remember the app was on the market a few weeks ago. Now it is gone.

It seems that Skype is not available on some Android markets depending on what country you are based.
Anyway, the Fring and Nimbuzz took skype out of their services. Why?
And..., after installing skype I keep getting the can't sign in pop up.
I just now searched and it's still there in the market. but Fringout rates are much lower than Skypeout, I'm afraid they won't be able to fight it.
It's in my market still. It might be a carrier issue?

On certain countries it is not on the android market. You have to use Market enabler to get the non us version of skype that can use 3G.

Fake full device for US

Edit: Resolved, used droidvpn.
I have a question I can't seem to find the answer to... is there any way to make your device think it's in the US? I know of the market enabler but I'm talking about the whole device. For instance to be able to download books, music, movies, etc from Google play. Or even be able to some how combine thru using your laptop on Google play and pushing it to your device? Some background info.. I'm currently deployed in Qatar and basically everything is locked down on my phone and tablet. Or maybe there is a way to vpn on my laptop and then create a hotspot from it for my devices to tunnel thru? Idk looking for ideas and solutions. Thanks

Full Google play in israel

Hello everyone,
Something weird happened to me.
I live in Israel and we only have access to the apps play store.
When I turned on my n10 today and entered the play store it allowed me full access to the play store, without using a VPN or anything.
I thought it was a glitch or something so I tried it on my n4 using mobile data (my n10 was on WiFi) and to my surprise once I cleaned the play store app cache I had full access to the play store via WiFi and mobile data without using VPN!
I bought songs and videos and streamed them seamlessly on both my devices using different types of internet.
Anyone else came across something like this?! I sure hope this sticks! Lol
Another thing, my friend on his tf300 using the same WiFi couldn't get full access like I did, how weird is this?!

Quite strange indeed. Hope it keeps working for you.

I had the same thing and now enjoying reading the latest Jo Nesbo book with my Nexus 7. Apparently it happens only if youv'e purchased stuff beforehand through the store - I tried logging in with my wife's Nexus 4 (purchased through my account) and couldn't get the full content. Than i connected with her account via proxy, purchased a 1.0$ song and- Hurray the store is now open throughout any connection. I guess they will open up eventually since there are some Hebrew content there.

Glad to know I'm not alone.
Have you managed to purchase movies and TV shows? That seems like the only problem ATM.. Everything else works great.

I tried to open samples of some books, most of the times I get message: couldn't open the book.....
same here...about book i dont know... but if u purchase a movie or tv shows via vpn you can then play it without a vpn via the movies app.
the purchase itself cannot be made without a vpn though.
Sadly, I now cannot even enter in play site with proxy to upload some books in Google Play Books, it says not avaiable in my country, even with proxy. When I log out the content is avaiable, but when my profile is signed in no sign. Maybe Google somehow determined my location idk. Any ides?
More people gettin "Play" in israel.

Looking for the following apps

I am looking for 4od version 1.1 and the latest version of bbc Iplayer, I think it is version 1.5
Does anyone know how to download geo restricted apps like these from google play from within the US?
I tried blackmart and it really made my phone (razr maxx HD 32gig model) run so slow and it became unusable
I tried aptoide and they do not have 4od 1.1
Rooting my phone is not an option but I really enjoy watching UK tv
Thank you for any help the great and wise members here can give me.
Try with tunnel bear, but use it on wifi, it makes you phone thinks it's on US, UK or Canada, i downloaded the Vudu app this way
When you say use it on wifi I am not sure what you mean, can you explain, if you mean use it when connected to WIFI that is what I have been doing. I have a VPN that I use called http://www.featvpn.com and doing a xmyip will say I am in the UK but it will still not allow me to download the app. Is tunnel bear different or is there a specific order I need to follow
no one?
